Motto: DARWIN WILL PREVAIL
In which direction is the selection happening? I sense you feel that bad clones will become extinct, but maybe bad clones make the greedy extinct?
No, I am saying that many many coins will develop, but only the most innovative and most "fit" will survive (survive menaing: significant).

Perhaps also only the most "fit" investors/traders/miners will survive (survive meaning: still have money). Those that avoid the unfit coins.

In 100 years you will read about 99.999% of all coins in the history books Wink

Can you imagine the Table of Contents?  Cheesy

Good thing the society saves those bad traders, otherwise they would starve to death!!! Tongue

It would read like a bad joke, I bet.

"Grandpa, did you guys really have a coin called Dogecoin. Where people back then retarded?" Wink
283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0.2 FEE!!!! ? am i missing something? on: August 06, 2014, 11:07:28 PM
Thats what we assume he did. According to the screenshot i guess thats the proof but he says he didn't enter the 0.2 fee... But he still blames blackchain.info?

Sure he does blame BCI. He also blamed Bitcoin as a whole and the community. In no post did he say thank you for the help here or implied he was responsible.
284  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much of your earning you are converting to BTC? on: August 06, 2014, 11:04:24 PM
Right now I'm converting 100% into BTC after I pay the usual monthly bills. History has taught me to be greedy in accumulation when bitcoin is "boring" or "stable".

I also converted a significant chunk of my BTC into Monero and I'm aggressively trying to decrease my XMR:BTC ratio without selling any XMR.

Yeah, if we're looking at previous charts, you are right. Simply investing during such times has been a good thing, but we can't be certain it will remain that way, though! We may go further down from here! But respect to your optimistic stance on this!

What does it matter what bitcoin does in the shortterm if you are a longterm holder? You are not losing something by holding 5 years when some months of that 5 years your investment is a little bit down.

Sure dollar-cost-averaging might be better in variance terms, but still Wink
285  Other / Off-topic / Re: I want help on: August 06, 2014, 11:02:38 PM
This is most likely resolved guys...

Don't hype this topic, OP was worried that the escrow bailed, when he is very reputable and was just offline for a longer time... (hours Wink )
286  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Feature Request: Bitcoin Alias on: August 06, 2014, 11:01:36 PM
There is one system in place for bitcoin

https://onename.io/

it uses Namecoins IIRC

Very cool, although centralized, it will do for now. I would prefer to be able to send bitcoin to an alias but i guess nxt and others will be better for that.

It would be possible to introduce this into the bitcoin network, but the last thing I heard was that the devs think that it is not important to have on a protocol level. This can be done client-side with a BIP standard.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2015 on: August 06, 2014, 11:00:22 PM
Ethereum at this time has raised 23,804.11715496 BTC!

I have never seen anything like it. Something big is going to happen.

Not sure if good or bad but ETH going to rock the cryptoworld one way or another.

It will shatter the dreams of the investors. Haha

Like most alts over the last 6 months

+1 to that Huh 1000's of coins to date, altcoins are coming out of the woodwork & not in a good way either!
Would be nice to see all these Dev's work together on just a few coins, not launch several new coins a day just to dump & profit.

Again, my theory is that there are not much devs. Most coins are bought from the few people that copy paste those coins and make small changes.
Other coins have devs but they drop those coins every 4 weeks to move to other coins. Rinse and repeat.

There are good devs, but they mostly don't care for money, so they don't offer investment opportunities.

Also there are greedy businessmen like Ethereum and Maidsafe that were backed by VC/ SiliconValley and need to raise money for those guys.

Would really like to see all this copy & pasting coins get blocked some how, there should be some kind of rule as to who can launch coins. Rules are just broken anyway, but would be nice to have some kind of order in the 100's of coins a month. Is it ever going to stop, maybe we will just have a never ending launch of coins & by the end of 2015 = 100,000+ coins or more? It's nice to have a new coin from time to time, but the way it's going now, something big has to happen!

That is the effect of decentralisation. Don't hate it! Apprechiate it. It is the evolution of coins Wink

288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE - Official Discussion Thread! Distributing the coins! on: August 06, 2014, 10:57:08 PM
Is there a thread to trade Node? Is there any marketplace for Node?

No marketplace but a thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703652.0

I bet not much will be traded until the client is available for obvious reasons.
289  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice 3 - RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED on: August 06, 2014, 10:56:34 PM
@Highly competitive affiliate program with instant withdrawals:

How is that going to work? Gamblers will want to get the maximum edge and whales will definitely affiliate themselves, not matter how much hurdles you place.

Most of the competition is crowd-funded, meaning the house itself only gets to keep a small percentage of the profits (typically 10%).

PD is privately bankrolled, so they keep all the profits for themselves. That means they can afford things like signature campaigns, affiliate programs, etc. more easily than the competition.

Suppose the affiliate program offers 0.1% of a player's wagers to the affiliate, for life. That's only 10% of the profit the house expects to make from the player, but it's 100% of the profit a crowd-funded site would expect to make from them.

As I see it, that is the biggest problem with accepting "investments" on a dice site - it makes you much less profitable (as a percentage of turnover) than not doing so.

It's also an issue that marketing costs have to come out of those limited profits.  Which is why I'm surprised that another investment dice site has a very competitive signature campaign.

As I recall, Just-Dice had only a very small give away when it first opened, .01 to 100 users or something like that, and that was it, and that was when btc was around 100 USD per coin.

And, as noted by MICRO, with investment sites you always run the risk of the operator Running Away with the CoinsTM.  This was solved on Just-Dice by dooglus being exceptionally honorable.

Dicebitco.in is currently paying out more than they will earn in the near future. This is called investing, and people/companies that have funds to do that will most of the time choose to do so.

Bootstraping companies only do it because they don't have much choice.
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0.2 FEE!!!! ? am i missing something? on: August 06, 2014, 10:54:26 PM
So were you meaning to send 0.2 or 0.0001 BTC in that transaction?? Many have asked and you haven't clarified. Why would you be sending 0.0001 BTC? Testing it out or learning? Thats about 5 cents. From the info we've seen, it looks like you mixed up the amount and the mining fee. 0.0001 should be the fee and you were trying to send 0.2 BTC?

Please clarify so we can further try to help

He mixed up Fee and sending amount. 0.2 BTC sent with 0.0001 Fee. He put both in the wrong field on BCI.
291  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: i want to give 100 BTC to one user on bitcointalk. tell me why it is U. on: August 06, 2014, 10:27:16 PM
I already have 100 bitcoins. I have proven that I can take care of 100 bitcoins. If you give me 100 bitcoins I will mate them with the 100 bitcoins I have.  They will be very happy together.

But... Will you give em a good mixing?

In another thread someone claimed that address was owned by Bitfury.  I will try to find the reference.

I am not sure how that was determined. You should ask DubFX how he got that information.

I appreciate your help, but that does not help me get his contact info. and if it does i don't know how to find it

Just contact bitfury and ask them Wink

I will some rent some private jet so i can travel to many countrys as santa claus and will help childern and poor fammilys arount the world and post each day on facebook and more live videos  Grin

You could do that minus the private jet and still post those videos. How about starting with your own neighborhood?

I think you confuse with "used by the huge majority" with mainstream use.

Sorry to say, but what you say is just not true.

Just a few pointers: Linux is the most used server OS, by far
Firefox still has over 20% market share
@others, again you confuse two concepts, mainstream and majority.

Even if "the majority" won't directly use Bitcoins, I am sure they will use it without knowing it.

I see what you're saying. You're saying that a few tech-savvy engineers will rally around Bitcoin technology as the backend, and create mainstream products for people who don't even know that Bitcoin is the underlying technology. Let's hope so! This technology is too important to fade away!!!

Not tech-savy people but greedy businessmen. Look at circle. They even want to eventually only display USD amounts. You won't even notice that there is BTC being send behind the scenes. Just a frontend like paypal.

Yes, of course, the greedy businessmen!!  Tongue But... who will maintain the underlying source code?? I hope that Circle plans on spending $$$ to improve and enhance the code!

Everyone that owns BTC has some interest in improving BTC, so things will move forward. BTC attracts very very skilled people, don't underestimate this!

Greed is one of the best sources of innovation! It is a powerful incentive for extremely advanced companies Wink

Also you can always dump your private key and reimport it elsewhere to create a new transaction. This is a chicken-egg problem with your argumentation!

Not true. I reimported my private key to 4 different clients, and none of them let me create a new transaction while my unspent outputs were still unconfirmed. No client that I could find will allow for double spending.

Blockchain infos custom send, does.
