Thanks. So an empty reply in this case means that everything is alive and well?

Code:
curl --user dummy:dummy --data-binary '{"id": 1, "method": "mining.subscribe", "params": []}'  -H 'content-type: text/plain;' http://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334
curl: (52) Empty reply from server

[EDIT: using eligius.st]

No.  stratum is not HTTP (so you can't use curl).  Stratum is just a raw TCP connection that passes json back and forth without other kinds of headers.  Use netcat (nc) to script tests:

Code:
$ echo '{"id": 1, "method": "mining.subscribe", "params": []}' | nc stratum.mining.eligius.st 3334
{"result": [[["mining.notify", "50ba4b07000000001"], ["mining.set_difficulty", "50ba4b07000000002"]], "50ba4b0700000000", 4], "id": 1, "error": null}
{"params": [0.9999847412109375], "id": null, "method": "mining.set_difficulty"}
{"params": ["1374725370 31451", "22b834070a29d897dd7a92c131b55214331b44e1e12ce44a0000002700000000", "01000000010000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000ffffffff51030bca030d00456c69676975730051f0a4fafabe6d6dbdc2d64806bb5aae305532732ff463a1c626dbd68e5c02421495d38878814c190400000000000000002f7373312f00", "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", ["7a021ca8631128993192029250fd04e0cf815ca8a07b94065756f625f399a43a", "a8537d5a32a9ae77aec157e3e185dccac8b0ebd47a5330d8d96add4ebb87ab47", "9bfc4c908d8e01fd965eabceeecd4679979dea47fdf1ef8c8160ef6703ea4bd8", "31b63eb50e49905ccc96f7926514204ba9010e62629a644891dbfb8dfc6b9068", "3ee54625a6bb6902e13362ed8675ef4daa155704a71cc7701615215e33bf7487"], "00000002", "1a008968", "51f0a4fa", false], "id": null, "method": "mining.notify"}

You're using non-standard UI?
can you share node's address?

Yes, it the ExtendedUI. I cloned p2pool from github git://github.com/forrestv/p2pool.git
then got the extended UI. The issue exists with both frontends.

Here's the link: http://sexcoin.lavajumper.com:9699

Over the last couple of hours some of the stats have started filling in.

There's another issue I'm seeing. Coins are not being dropped into the mining wallet. My miner is getting .5% even when its the only miner in the pool. I've chased down the address that they are going to, and I've never seen it before. Its never been on the pool.

If I need to clarify anything, let me know. I'm a bit frustrated at the moment.
Thanks for the help!

Data is not loading because there are javascript errors on the frontend.  In particular, the frontend is trying to load /web/best_share_hash and is getting a 404 error.  That is then cascading into several other javascript errors as a result.  I have no idea why /web/best_share_hash is erroring out.

For the payout issue, did you specify a payout address on the command line?  If not, p2pool will allocate a new address from the wallet it is connected to for things like any configured fee, etc.
123  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 24, 2013, 12:53:57 AM
Why p2pool.info is showing wrong hashrate?

Code:
Pool Hashrate: 261.6 GH/s
Estimated Time to Block: 5d 22h 32m
Current Round: 4d 17h 0m

My node reports right now:
Code:
Pool rate: 2.00TH/s (9.1% DOA+orphan) Share difficulty: 8470

Node uptime: 1.714 days Peers: 6 out, 5 in

It must be on the old fork

*sigh*

My home network has been down for a couple hours and so p2pool.info switched to using one of the other public p2pool nodes to get stats.  Sadly, it happened to choose one that is on a fork.

Edit: ironically, it was pulling stats from p2pool.org, which is on an old fork.  I'll remove that one from the list of possible backup stats nodes.
124  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1100GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 17, 2013, 01:40:45 PM
So that means I am paid three times für one share?

You are paid for each share every time a block is found as long as the share is still "active".  When the pool is lucky, you'll get paid for your share many times.  When the pool is unlucky, you'll get paid fewer times or not at all if the pool is very unlucky.  Because your shares stay active for approx 3x as long now, you'll get paid for your share 3x as many times (on average).
125  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1100GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 17, 2013, 11:24:53 AM
Ahh, this is BAD, iw as sure that chain lengh will be change too, that payout last long for up to 3 days. But it is NOT.
Now small miners are killed for p2pool.

The chain is the same number of shares as before, but because shares are found 3x less often, that means that the chain is 3 times longer in real-word time (3 days instead of 1 day).

Like it or not, the bitcoin mining community is in the midst of a transition to ASICs and the result is that small miners (GPU miners) are going to be left behind, no matter what pool you are on.
126  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1100GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 17, 2013, 10:49:01 AM
why is the diff so high in version 13.1?

After the cutover, the targets for finding shares is now only one per 30 seconds instead of one per 10 seconds.  That is accomplished by making share difficulty is 3x higher.

I don't get any shares. What can I do?

To get shares more often, the only thing you can do is add more hashrate.  If you can't or don't want to add more hashrate, then the only thing you can do is be content with the increased variance.  In the long run, you'll earn the same as before, it will just be more spikey (you'll find a share 3x less often, but each share will be worth 3x as much).

3) I will test the defective unit when it arrives.  If it does not work, I will not reimburse for return shipping, but will ship another brand new unit back.

Typo above?

Ok sorry if these answers are somewhere in the 306 pages of this post, I did not read them all.

Is the real pool site www.p2pool.org? The reason I ask is, the Wiki talks about needing to run the wallet program with some arguments, and a p2p program. The .org site says you can mine with just the wallet address as your user name.

I'm also interested in mining several coins(one a day depending on value) with your site and was wondering if that is a bad idea, it sounds like my return goes up the longer I mine a particular coin.

Thanks
Rotor

P2Pool is software that allows people to do distributed pooled mining.  You run the p2pool software and bitcoin software yourself and you point your miners at your own installation of p2pool.

p2pool.org is a website where someone (not the author of p2pool) has taken the p2pool software and is hosting a public node that anyone can mine at (for a fee).  You can point your miners there without needed your own installation of p2pool as long as you are ok with delegating some amount of control of your mining activity to the owner of p2pool.org.

I was getting 0.12BTC/block 2 days ago.
Now i'm getting 0.02 for the last 2 blocks and when i check the site it dosnt show my address as mining, it shows that current payout is 0.02 at the site. but at home it sais 2.22 for some reason.

any1 know what is wrong ?
also it says the P2Poll is mining with only 48gh total.

Are you on a fork of the main p2pool network?  What does your p2pool console output say the total p2pool hashrate is?  Is your p2pool software up to date?

Where can I get historical price data for AM? interested in writing puts  but need at least some ide of vol.

http://www.coinflow.co/chart/ASICMINER-PT

Thanks, but I need the actual data (e.g. daily prices) as a csv or similar. Otherwise I am guessing at the vol and the option price.

Get raw data from the BTC-TC API:

It's highly likely that your hub can not provide enough power for 33 USB block eruptors simultaneously.  In fact, from your experiments, it seems to not be able to provide enough power for more than 7 at a time.  What power levels is it rated at?  Each block eruptor will need 0.5 - 0.6 Amps.

Power Supply is fine, coming from Win7 where they work.  Sparkle 400 is 30A@5v.  Thanks!

They're all hashing.

10890Mhs/333Mhs=32.7

Exactly.  It's driving me nuts that there's no work!

Oops.  My bad.

The custom filter is a good explanation. It's the only one I can think of actually. Great firewall appart... Smiley

Friedcat already said that they don't do anything special filtering of transactions...

We are using the same transaction policy of the official Bitcoin client's default behavior.

Cool! So can one instance of cgminer use a particular hashing unit (or several hashing units) in an Avalon system? What would be the command line for doing this?

Please read the README Smiley  Search it for '--usb'
135  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER ASIC FPGA GPU overc monit fanspd RPC linux/win/osx/mip/r-pi 3.3.1 on: July 09, 2013, 06:22:14 PM
"--usb bfl:1" is for the old FPGA Singles. For Jalapenos, you want "--usb baj:1".

I run two instances of CGMiner on one computer, where --usb bfl:1 points my FPGA to one pool, and another instnace with --usb bas:1 points my Single at another pool.

Actually, all BFL SC devices (jalanpenos, singles, etc) are "--usb bas:#".  It's based on the driver (bas for the new sc driver, bfl for the old fpga driver).

How difficult would it be to allow several instances of cgminer in the same system?

Why would I want to do that? I am building a "Condo" system where miners are hosted in a remote location. I want to give each user full control of his mining unit, which may be only part of a boxed system. For example, an Avalon box can have as many as 4 hardware modules, and each module can have 8 hashing units. A user in the condo system can own as small as a single hashing unit, and I want her to be able to launch her own instance of cgminer on the same box where other users are running their own instance of cgminer. Each cgminer instance is associated with a user ID, and that user ID is in turn associated with particular hashing unit(s). The association of a user ID to hashing unit(s) is done by another subsystem, so all that really needs to happen is to allow cgminer to accept a command-line parameter that indicates which hashing unit(s) it will use exclusively.

Each cgminer instance should be separately addressable in the RPC protocol/API.

I believe this requires substantial code changes (may be changes to both cgminer itself and the Avalon drivers), so I will give a hashing unit in the condo I am building to whoever can get this done, and yes, it's OK for it to be open source.

Edit: Please PM me if you would be interested in implementing this project.

THis shouldn't require any code change at all.  I routinely run multiple instances of cgminer on my mining rigs.  One for GPUs, one for BFL FPGA devices, one for BFL SC devices, etc.  Each has an independent API endpoint.  You just have to start each version with command line parameters to make sure that it selects the correct devices (see the --usb parameter and the discussion of it in the READMEs) so that no two cgminer instances try to mine against the same devices.  You also want to specify a different API port for each instance.

Question: Suggested difficulty option box.
What is the point in this box? It optional but then if its optional dose it really matter? I'm running just 4 Block Erupters on Slush's Pool should I change my setting and if so to what?

For those with large amount of hash power, setting a higher difficulty will reduce the network bandwidth consumed by submitted shares.  You don't have enough hashpower for it to matter.   I wouldn't worry about it.

How can I do 75%/45 minutes pool 0 , 25%/15 minutes pool 1 , is that round robin.
You cannot.

That degree of control no one has been able to prove to me there are any circumstances that it serves any useful purpose, so I never bothered to implement such tight scheduling over pool share submission. Optimising your share submission to not lose work and/or sharing to minimise variance are all you need.

This would be the only real reason, I guess:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=78031.0

In other words, if you are mining at two pools and one is large and one is small, you actually might be increasing you variance (vs just mining at the large pool alone) if you mine at them 50/50.

But to be super useful, you'd want something like "BALANCE" combined with some API options to change the ratios on the fly so that some outside script could periodically use pool APIs to determine total hashrate and then use cgminer API to tweak the ratios appropriately.

Have fun!

FEATURE REQUEST

Be able to run a script if a USB unit has issues. Could pass USB ID as an argument to this script, then the script could take action to power cycle the device in question.

I have found web controlled power switches that would allow a computer to power cycle peripherals from a script. It would be really helpful if cgminer detects a problem with a device (or devices) to be able to run a script to be able to power cycle them.

At the simplest level, a script to power cycle the whole lot would be a good start. Being able to pass the USB ID of the device in question would allow just that device to be power cycled, for example.

I'm thinking about this under Linux, which is where I run my miners. So simply being able to run a shell script with parameters is what I'm after. Not sure how it would be handled under Windows ... .vbs? .wsh?

Maybe the script could email the admin too? Either way, if there is a 'trouble script' handle, it would be AWESOME Smiley

Prior to this enhancement being added (if it does get added), you could accomplish something similar by writing a script that polls the API every 30 seconds (or whatever) looking for unhealthy devices.  I have something similar that looks for a variety of issues on my devices (status other than "Alive", abnormally high HW errors or rejected shares, abnormally low hashrate, abnormal temp, etc.  It doesn't power cycle them (interesting idea), but rather just sends me an alert to do manual investigation and intervention.
