Do you really think Mt.Gox would hide the new address, if they know (which they do) that the old contained stolen coins?

AFAIK there is NO WAY to "mix" your coins. It's all in the blockchain.

In that case, it is likely that they will at least cross check that whoever is sending in the order, they were indeed the original owners (since this seems to be an honor system). In that case, why don't you send in one for me, I will pay you 10btc for 1, and then the difference in price, and then again additional 10btc (or more) if things work ?

Would you agree to that ? You lose nothing and keep 10btc if the process falls thru, and may be just send me the icarus if that is returned back to you with additional shipping that I will pay to you ?

Let me know - this route seems safer.

No thanks.  I am not interested in taking on the responsibility and challenge of shipping these back to China.

At this point, I fully intend to let the auction run to it's natural conclusion this evening.  Bid if you are comfortable, or don't bid if you are not comfortable.

twmz, do you have a pic of the units?

I will take one when I get home from work (about 2-3 hours before the end of the auction).
225  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] 2x Icarus FPGA Miners (mine with them or trade in for Avalon) on: April 19, 2013, 10:42:35 AM
The trade in assumes there is already existing batch 2 order, right ?

That is not my understanding.  All I can tell you is what they told us:  Back during the chaos of the Batch 2 orders website being unreliable, they told us to not worry about making batch 2 orders on the website.  We were told that custom trade ins orders would be created as the FPGA devices arrived at their offices and that they would be fullfilled in addition to the 300 or whatever "normal" batch 2 orders they accepted.

Again, I can't promise that they will actually honor that process.  The uncertainty and risk here is one of the reasons I am selling these FPGA devices to someone else instead of just directly cashing in, myself, by getting an Avalon (which at today's difficulty makes something like 7-8 BTC per day).
226  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] 2x Icarus FPGA Miners (mine with them or trade in for Avalon) on: April 19, 2013, 10:34:31 AM
twmz, are you only accepting BTC or will you accept USD as well? Bid in BTC, then convert at market rate and pay that way? Possible or no?

Cheers!

BTC only, please.
227  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] 2x Icarus FPGA Miners (mine with them or trade in for Avalon) on: April 19, 2013, 01:01:17 AM
Plus there are already bids placed.  To sell it out from under them would be unfair.

I completely agree.  My previous point was just that he shouldn't feel like there is an opportunity missed here, since, even if I had decided to not do an auction and just sell it straight out, it would not have resulted in faster delivery.
228  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] 2x Icarus FPGA Miners (mine with them or trade in for Avalon) on: April 18, 2013, 08:49:29 PM
Practically speaking, because of my work schedule, there is no possible way for me to ship them any sooner that Saturday morning no matter what arrangements were made, so a buyout would not get them to you any sooner.
229  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] 2x Icarus FPGA Miners (mine with them or trade in for Avalon) on: April 18, 2013, 08:41:57 PM
9btc for both

Even though that is a bit below what I originally posted as a minimum, I will accept that as a valid bid.

So the current top bid is from greaterninja at 9 BTC for 2 units (4.5 BTC each).

I have decided I don't want to deal with this process, so...

231  Economy / Auctions / [WTS] 2x Icarus FPGA Miners (mine with them or trade in for Avalon) on: April 18, 2013, 05:16:05 PM
This may or may not  be a successful auction as I don't know if there is any demand for these devices or if the minimum price I am looking for is of interest to anyone, but I am going to give this a shot anyway.

I have two, fully functional Icarus FPGA miners that are available in this auction.  Each mines at 380 MH/s (see screenshot below).

The winner might choose to mine with these or the winner might choose to trade them in for priority access to Avalon Batch #2 (see below for details).  Note, I do not guarantee anything with respect to the Avalon Trade-in process.  The buyer takes on all risk associated with that trade-in process.

These will be shipped from Wisconsin in the US.  I will cover the costs of standard shipping (UPS ground or equivalent) within the U.S.  I will also ship internationally via the US Postal Service for $50 (in BTC based on the exchange rate at the time of payment).  If the winner would prefer a particular expedited shipping method, I am willing to do that with the winner paying the actual cost of shipping.

The rules for the auction are as follows:

  • Each bid must indicate a price you are willing to pay per unit and how many units you want to buy (just 1 or both of them)
  • Bid must be in increments of at least 0.1 BTC
  • If you are bidding on both units are are only willing to win them as a pair and not an individual unit, say so explicitly.
  • The auction ends at 4/20/13 02:00 UTC (based on the forum's time/clock).  That is 9pm Central Time in the U.S, tomorrow night or approximately 33 hours from when this topic was posted.
  • Any bid in the last 15 minutes of the auction automatically extends the auction by 15 minutes.
  • The minimum starting bid is 5.0 BTC

Recommended bid styles:

"I bid 5 BTC for 1 unit"

"I bid 5.1 BTC each for both units"

I reserve the right to cancel the auction if necessary for reasonable cause.  If I do so, all bids are
cancelled.  I'm reserving this right simply because this is the first time I've done an auction like this,
and want an escape hatch just in case I've missed something critical.  (language stolen from casascius' auctions)

Avalon Trade-in information that I have received:

Trade-In Situation
After much thought, we believe we have figured out the best system for Trade-Ins that will allow people to continue to mine with their FPGA as long as possible yet still able to get their ASIC on the second batch on time. The process will work as follows:

A week before batch #2 is ready to ship, we will make an announcement to those who wish to trade-in their last generation units to sent in their units, once we receive the units a custom order will be made for you to pay the difference depending on what you have trade-in, remember 1 trade-in discount/coupon is allowed per 1 Avalon unit. For clarification the shipping priority is as such:

Sorted from Highest to Lowest.

Developers - e.g. bitcoin core dev and other bitcoin contributor we feel deserve this treatment.
Trade-Ins/Old Customers - your unit will ship soon as we receive the FPGA and you've paid the difference.
Regular Batch #2 Customers - Unfortunately you are not special.

Those who wish to trade in your FPGA generation Icarus or Lancelot: it is time to package and RMA those units back to us.

232  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25000 GH] BTC Guild - PPS/PPLNS with TxFees, Stratum+Vardiff ASIC Tested on: April 17, 2013, 07:42:58 PM
PPS rate down ~15%?

The PPS rate is based on the current difficulty:

Rate = (25 * (1 - fee)) / difficulty

Or for current numbers:

25 * (1 - 0.05) / 8974296 = 0.0000026464471419

And yes, since the difficulty just jumped by about 15%, the PPS rate dropped by about 15%.

If anyone has figured out the most practical way to ship Icarus units to China (US Postal Service vs UPS vs FedEx vs Other), I'd appreciate if you'd share your findings.  I am an international shipping novice (I only ever receive and don't usually do the sending).
234  Economy / Auctions / Re: AUCTION - 10 rolls of new 1BTC Casascius Coins on: April 15, 2013, 01:19:44 AM
Absent any objections, I accept this as the ranking

I sent you a PM asking for a non-public payment address.  I also want to know how much (in BTC) you want for the $35 shipping: some specific exchange rate, or just the rate at the instant that I send the payment?
235  Economy / Auctions / Re: AUCTION - 10 rolls of new 1BTC Casascius Coins on: April 15, 2013, 01:13:23 AM
Hey
Unfortunately I ve got whitelisted too late so I couldn't bid on BTC.
Since I didn't have a chance maybe I can get 1 roll?
You name the price.

I'm sure this won't be the last auction.  You'll have more chances.
236  Economy / Auctions / Re: AUCTION - 10 rolls of new 1BTC Casascius Coins on: April 14, 2013, 09:49:53 PM
Since there have been no objections, I assume this is definitely ending no sooner than 20 minutes after the hour (29 or so minutes from now), right?
237  Economy / Auctions / Re: AUCTION - 10 rolls of new 1BTC Casascius Coins on: April 14, 2013, 08:32:48 PM
Increasing my bid to 56 BTC on any available roll
238  Economy / Auctions / Re: AUCTION - 10 rolls of new 1BTC Casascius Coins on: April 13, 2013, 10:18:37 PM
51 BTC on any available roll
239  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 12, 2013, 10:46:00 AM
This one looks likely:

Quote
-w PORT or ADDR:PORT, --worker-port PORT or ADDR:PORT
listen on PORT on interface with ADDR for RPC
connections from miners (default: all interfaces,
                        bitcoin:9332, litecoin:9327, terracoin:9322)

Use localhost:9332 but make sure not to lock your miner out. If you are on Windows, you can use Windows Firewall to restrict things somewhat and on Linux, you can use iptables to do all sorts of magic.
This only changes the port and locks the UI to a specific adapter. For example, I'd like to bind it to my Hamachi IP so I can access the page through my laptop when I'm away. But I can't stop everyone else on the network from peeking.

Embrace you're operating system's built-in ability to do this (Windows Firewall, Linux iptables, etc).  You can not do what you want to do with just the p2pool software by itself as that feature doesn't exist in the software today.
240  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] The next big exchange on: April 11, 2013, 11:12:27 PM
I would have voted for campbx if it was a choice.

I want to like places like bitstamp, but practically speaking, without either Dwolla, ACH, or US domestic wire transfers, I can't get money out of the exchange.
