301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are XPM and PPC just coins for keynsians? on: September 04, 2013, 07:47:10 PM
Why is everyone so upset about not being able to mine bitcoins?
Scarcity is what gives bitcoins value.
a non scarce currency will never be truly valueable.

ps: I'm not from zimbabwe btw...

Deposits and Withdrawal Update
Finally, the issues with deposits and withdrawals from Mt. Gox are being relieved, but still not at the rate we want.
For example it currently takes up to 10 days to process a deposit because our bank, upon receiving deposits, notifies us of the deposit but holds them for 7~10 days before transferring them to our account. This has always been the case, and we were still crediting customer accounts before receiving the funds ourselves, but some cases in which the bank subsequently rejected the deposits meant that we incurred significant losses. The risk is now too high for us to credit accounts prematurely.
We are in the process of forming relationships with new partners, banks, and taking other steps -- hopefully we will not only be back where we were before we encountered these issues , but much further ahead.

305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are XPM and PPC just coins for keynsians? on: September 04, 2013, 01:18:35 PM
Primecoin is a coin for miners.
And miners are the ones who benefit from inflation, so... I guess.

The american dream is owning your house, some cars, a big screen tv, a big ass refrigerator... turning your garage into a bitcoin mining operation...
307  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: making an asic miner on: September 03, 2013, 11:50:15 PM
been reading through forums and was thinking of trying to make one.

seems like the hardest bit is getting the chips. avalon makes theirs from tsmc if im not mistaken. could we just order from tsmc?

A premade machine or with the chips?  (the very small ones)

as in instead of ordering hashing chips from avalon or bitfury can we just contact a semiconductor for an order?
No, that would be like bypassing Intel to get the latest processors. You need to create a chips design then give it to TSMC for large scale production. The design is the most difficult and expensive task.

alright, then is there a way to purchase a design or how much would it take to hire someone to design one
You'd probably need an experienced computer engineer and and a lot of money.
308  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying bitcoins??? on: September 03, 2013, 05:54:17 PM

309  Economy / Marketplace / Re: What Are Some Products I Could Sell To The Bitcoin Community? on: September 03, 2013, 05:07:15 PM
I'm surprised there isnt someone selling mana energy potions for bitcoins yet
I take it back.
Apparently they taste terrible.
Its a shame, I was thinking about doing it myself.
310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What has caused the recent rise in Bitcoin value? on: September 03, 2013, 01:28:16 PM
Well for me it was new methods of buying.
If it wasn't for coinbase it would have been a pain in the rear.
And I wasn't too enthusiastic about spending $20 or so for a wire transfer.
311  Economy / Economics / Re: NASDAQ vs BTC on: September 02, 2013, 07:52:09 PM
well I dont really consider y2k a bubble
It was just people investing money in a new technology most didnt fully understand
some people invested in businesses that didn't even have a clear business plan
well everyones free to do what they want with their money
you earn some you lose some

It was a bubble. Anybody would tell you that.
well I guess what I'm trying to say that it wasn't necessarily a bad bubble.
I mean companies like google and amazon came out of it.
Unlike the real estate bubble, which was propped up by government housing subsidies.
312  Other / Politics & Society / Re: German Children confiscated by Government just because they're homeschooled on: September 02, 2013, 07:21:04 PM
Good job German government.

Children need social contact to other children and professional education.

There is compulsory education in the EU for good reason, if the parents don't like it, they can move to Iran, USA or Saudi Arabia.
For your information parents who decide to homeschool their children have to meet education requirements and its not uncommon for them to outperform their public school peers.
Children don't belong to the government, they belong to their parents.

314  Other / Politics & Society / Re: comrades, is bitcoin a great leap forward for international socialism? on: September 01, 2013, 09:56:28 PM
no, bitcoins doesn't aim at making everyone equal.
But it will make everyone richer.
I think, maybe...

316  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why isn't there a single purpose bitcoin hardware wallet ??? on: September 01, 2013, 09:04:20 PM
I would pay nothing because I'd just use a usb drive if I wanted to store bitcoins offline
317  Economy / Economics / Re: Investment on: September 01, 2013, 05:23:19 PM
If an event big enough to destroy the internet's infrastructure were to happen then the only safe investment would be food anyways.
Remember that the internet was developed by darpa to withstand enemy attacks on communication.

what ıf food gets destroyed along wıth ınternet . your answer ıs ınvalıd
Then you better find a way to digest silver.
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / bitcoin farming, the next frontier on: September 01, 2013, 05:11:39 PM
It seems that bitcoins have grown a whole lot since its inception.
You can now buy server space, electronics, gambling, among other things...drugs...
But there is something missing that you can not buy with bitcoins. The essentials.
I believe that the next bitcoin frontier is farming.
After farming for bitcoins becomes adopted people will be able to buy food with bitcoins.
From then on the sky is the limit.
319  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: August 31, 2013, 07:37:21 PM
What about PPC? Do you think it will be worth more due to its mining algorithm???
Well atleast pee pee coin and primecoin deserve honorable mention because they both added something new to the table.
But I think they've been betamaxed at this point.
