201  Economy / Economics / Re: "the late 19th Century was basically a series of uncontrollable economic panics" on: September 17, 2013, 10:38:03 PM
So when exactly would be a good time to tale a home loan?
Well they're slowly going up, so I'd say now.
202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is no longer decentralized on: September 17, 2013, 08:46:04 PM
Well if you a currency that's really decentralized the only way to do it would be to make one that requires human labor.
The rest will always lead to centralization.
I've thought about an idea for an alt coin with that theme.
It'd be called labourcoin and it'd be mined by typing in random strings of letters.
The average typing speed is 40 words per minute, so it'd be 2400 words per block, which would equal one hour of work.
It'd also have a 5% demurrage fee to control inflation, like freicoin.
It'd be more of a novelty more than an investment though.
But I can't code for jack so its just an idea. FOR NOW. Roll Eyes
203  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Is Everyone So Surprised? on: September 17, 2013, 06:04:28 PM
The US is not going to attack Syria nor any other country for the following reasons.

1.We don't have the money
2.The public is sick of it
3.the military is sick of it

Europe- you're now free to become fascists.
Latin America- you're now free to become communists.
Asia-You're now free to become... whatever China is.
Middle east- you're now free to become theocratic dictatorships.

Also you're free to invade each other.

enjoy.
204  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Is Argentina's Bitcoin Community so Active? on: September 17, 2013, 05:30:38 PM
Because they can't get their money out of the country.

Centralization=bitcoins become more rare=bitcoins raise in value
I'm not a whiny miner who thinks he's entitled to a free lunch, so its fine by me.
206  Economy / Trading Discussion / how to buy bitcoins for argentinian pesos on: September 17, 2013, 03:21:20 PM
So my parents have been wanting to do business with people from Argentina.
But they say they can't move money out the country.
So I thought to myself, woot here comes captain bitcoin.
But then I realized that most places only accept money for bitcoins do it in either dollars, pounds, euros or rubbles.
The only place I could find argentinian pesos for bitcoins is localbitcoins.
But that place is too risky to move large amounts of money.
halp.
207  Economy / Economics / Re: The Switzerland of Bitcoin on: September 17, 2013, 01:54:14 AM
Bitcoins will thrive in China.
China has a totalitarian regime that robs people of their savings via relentless inflation and intervention.
Bitcoins allows them to store their money in a way that its out of the reach of the state and their financial planners.

When will people of China revolt against their Communist aggressors?

The odds of that happening are no greater than the odds of the people of the United States revolting against its government.

Well I agree with the commentator.
Let countries decide their own fate.
If you ask me though the Chinese like many former communist countries didn't know how to transition to democracy.
So they turned to a dictator with some capitalism.
With +1 billion people some capitalism can go a long way.
I didn't know about the state urging them to buy gold though, uh...
208  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The problem with atheism. on: September 17, 2013, 12:01:32 AM
What does the bible tell us about money? I tried to search some time ago for some wisdom about money debasement, recommended PM's or other thing (cattle), but I couldn't find anything useful.

I don't know about money in the bible and Christianity but in Islam credit and interest are forbidden. Of course that is totally ignored by today's so called islamic doctrines.

Well I think bitcoin could have and egde amongst muslims and maybe christians, because credit, which seems to be the preferred form of money in the world of central banking, possibly will be less prominent in a bitcoin world.
Well its not that there won't be any credit.
There just won't be any subsidized(tax payer backed) credit.
There won't be a fannie mae and freddie mac to subsidize housing loans.
There won't be a salllie mae to subsidize student loans.
And there won't be a federal reserve to subsidize government bonds.
edit:Well now that I think about if bitcoins are taxed there can still be government subsidized loans.
But I still wanted to point them out.

Well there was the passage of the bible in which Jesus kicked out the money changers out of the temple.
It was mostly about not profiting out of faith though.
The bible also says that usury is a sin, that is charging high enough interests than the debtor can afford to pay within a reasonable time frame.
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: Satoshi works for... on: September 16, 2013, 11:12:19 PM
His white paper looks like it was made somebody who most likely went to grad school for computer science/cryptography.
So I think he works for a university.

And the hope of a place after life where there is no more sickness, pain or suffering is a bad thing???

Wouldn't it be? 100 years of accomplishments and overcoming difficulties is a long time. An eternity of simply existing is kinda Tongue

Do you think that is what eternity will be?  Just simply existing?  I expect it to be beyond our wildest imaginations, with plenty to do.  Basically all of the time to pursue our interests and dreams and talents without any obstructions.
you can still pursue your interests on this life...
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Official AnonCoin thread - Client Update!! (Native I2P, TOR nodes) on: September 16, 2013, 09:55:09 PM
So like around when can we expect that zero coin implementation?

how far is your zerocoin implementation?

Was just coming here to ask the same thing. Any updates?

It's still in an early stage. The first part will be implementing the early alpha of Zerocoin into the Anoncoin testnet, then comes the testing to discover bugs within Zerocoin itself that the Zerocoin devs will be working on. I would not expect a fully working zerocoin implementation until the end of the year at best. If it works flawlessly the first time around (personally I believe there's a ~1% chance of that happening) it would probably be complete during november.
Fair enough.
If or when you guys pull it off this coin is going to make it big.
go legion.  Wink

214  Economy / Economics / Re: Invest a Small Amount in Bitcoin on: September 16, 2013, 05:13:10 PM
I put ~$100-120 of my bi weekly paycheck in bitcoins.
Bitcoins always appreciate in value in the long run so why not.
Not too long ago $30 per bitcoin was the standard, now it hovers at around $120.
I thinks its fair to say that next year $200 or more will be the standard.
Beats the heck out of a savings account.

Zerocoin implementation begins. We have finally obtained contact with the zercoin creators and are now  likely to be the first coin to get zercoin implemented. Their, as well as our developer teams are eager to get a working proof-of-concept running as soon as possible.
Ohhhhh
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / why is anoncoin so high? on: September 16, 2013, 03:13:51 PM
Do people think that anoncoin really provides anonimity?
Transactions are still saved in the blockchain.
218  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Radical Feminism (continued from Capitalism) on: September 16, 2013, 01:58:30 PM
Feminism began slowly as polygamy was prohibited.
Many womans have a different thinking than mans and can be understood only by other womans.
In countries where polygamy is official this can be solved and they feel themselves well if they are other womans also in the family.
In countries where they was robbed from the right to live together with other womans in a marriage with a single man it caused frustration and hate in their heart against the society and they search only the company of other womans.
For me there is no need personally for polygamy but the society needs this as balance and cure against feminism.
Fact is that where is polygamy there is no feminism(especially there is no radical feminism).
So if they would receive back this traditional right to live in polygamy they would cool down surely.

I don't think that at all.
There is roughly a 50/50 ratio of men and women.
With polygamy someone is getting the short end of the stick, unless its a war mongering society in which men die more often.
What we should is defend regular marriage.
Which is hard because apparently neither side seems to like it a whole lot.
219  Economy / Economics / Re: The need for bubbles on: September 16, 2013, 04:02:08 AM
This is very true, and each bubble must be magnitudes higher than the previous bubble to be able to offset the negative effect from the burst of the previous bubble

IT consumption was about $10K per household, and then housing consumption raised the bar to $100K per household, now they must find another consumption which is 1 million dollars per household. It means, each household will get loan from banks and purchase something worth 1 million dollars, what will that be?

Unlike IT and housing, the bond bubble does not create corresponding consumption from each household, and how the income of each household is getting less and less
...
business loan bubble?
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: whats your alt strategy on: September 16, 2013, 03:13:46 AM

edit: oh wait alf stands for alphacoins.
