If all that "power" would be used for something greater then a  personal gain it would something worth of attention and praise. If we all combine our unused processing power from 100s of millions of computers we would achieve much much more. But we are only "there" to make money, nothing else....
Yeah its too bad curecoins never took off.
Primecoin is the closest thing we have to useful mining.
Anyways ASICs ain't going to pay themselves son. (or maybe they will  Wink)

Because feminists have no legitimate complaints (there are women CEO's, what else do you want)
And environmentalists have gone from being friendly towards the environment to being outright anti human.
Their logic goes that if people didn't exists the environment would benefit.
Which is true, but seriously, fuck em.

It depends, most people here in Europe are concerned about global warming, environment, and everyone makes small steps to help it (by reducing greenhouse gas emission, sort wastes, and so on.
Well that's good.
I believe that global warming is partly caused by people but we got time.
We'll fix it little by little with technology.
But I'm wary of its politicized faction since I see it as just another opportunist socialist scheme.
You know like solyndra or giving green subsidies to GM/GE.

add megacoin, anoncoin and cryptogenic bullions and I'm sold.
I'm tired of cryptsy.
They'll just keep adding crapcoins until their site implodes.
oh wait, all coins listed are developed by the same dev.
Still, looks neat.
I don't get why DGC is getting dumped so hard. Good news but price keeps falling, odd thing.

well I looked at the original topic and of the sites listed that accepted digitalcoins. coingas and cryptosextoys no longer do.
Coingas in particular seems to be like a major player when it comes to alts I think.

67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: September 30, 2013, 03:51:21 AM
We are going to change that as soon as we can.

I don't know how, but a site that can accept music, art, photographs to be admired and studied by others is paramount.

I mean, don't we already judge each others writing on Devtome for conformance to grammar and understandability?
we can do the same for art, music, architecture etc; All we have to do is setup a platform that can accept that type of change.
Heck we can modify the dokuwiki software to allow that.

We can start accepting music and simply judge it in a different way as users hear it.  We can support each other by voting on the quality of work by giving the artists, developers, marketers our own devcoins above and beyond what they earn from having their work accepted. using these coins given through Devtome would allow us to rank users contributions to the arts, a sort of springboard that allows people to more easily share their art.  With this system our most appreciated artists can act as advertisements to further develop the community by attracting further talent and users.

I was also thinking of changing the category system so normal users can judge the works and allow them to be part of a dynamic category system where people can find writings, art, music according to their mood, to the themes, artists,  authors, or just to what is most needed by them to find out, maybe even a bounty system within devtome for people to request works.

We can be the judges of the art and our opinions of it will be the categories; If you have seen TED.com you know the rating system is based on emotions, thoughts, judgments, this system is a limited system compared to what I have in mind.

expand the tome to be able to accept works from every strata of art, design, technology, architecture, engineering, programming... these people are developers too.  It's a big vision, but a thousand mile journey starts with the first step.

I have looked at the Devcoin system and it is financially sound, it is a good foundation. The coin is not capped, which means there is a lot of room for new artists, writers, engineers, programmers for all creators to benefit.  50,000 coins per block seems like a lot of coins, but in the long run devcoin is designed to last for decades before the generation rate needs to be halved.

the market aspect of Devcoin is very low at the moment, but that can change as we promote our talent. This is where the Devcoin rating system would help, if we judge, rate and categorize all the submitted works together instead of just overloading the admins with it we can move ahead. use the power of the community, of people who truly care about us creators. by creators for creators.  Our best talent will be promoted to advertise what we can accomplish, bringing with it the support of regular users who will want to purchase Devcoins to promote the talent that we have on Devtome.

think about all the people out there who will want to read more about your amazing adventure, who want to see you programming more, who can't wait to hear your next song or see your next painting, they are investing in their own future not just yours, this is how we will make Devcoin worth something more than just a reward scheme but a source for inspiration, art, hope, and self-fulfillment in our personal endeavors.
Agreed, BUT, you need to be more picky.
Look at how much value devcoin gained since the bot attack.
Had the devtome remained open devcoins value would had gone down to 0 eventually.

Through many of its unique properties, Neocoin is the most technologically advanced crypto currency on the market and it uses scrypt hashing function for Proof-Of-Work and separated target limits for Proof-Of-Stake and Proof-Of-Work.
Pfft okay.

72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your favorite Alt-Coin? on: September 29, 2013, 10:34:24 PM
anoncoin.
Because an untraceable crypto currency used to buy things through an untraceable network that is provided by a leaderless organization sounds like a recipe for comedy gold.

sort of

Which is powered by the enthalpy between the ambient air and the water.
So not even close.
I have an idea.
Make a giant drinking bird and put it next to a lake.
Free energy!  Grin
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: September 29, 2013, 08:21:31 PM
Vlad you own so much ixcoins that I think you selling them would affect the price.  Shocked
If you're going to sell them better do it throughout a period of weeks or months rather than all at once.
I'm not sure, just a hunch.
75  Economy / Economics / Re: Real money vs debt, and the value of bitcoin. (Mitchell-Innes credit theory) on: September 29, 2013, 06:20:58 AM
Okay zarathustra, I'm going to play along.
Lets say there is no military or police to protect people's property, no foreign threat and everyone has a cow, a bull, a pair of chicken and seeds to start off their self sufficient lives.
What happens next.
76  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US government shutdown on: September 29, 2013, 12:57:50 AM
Not affected. Don't care.

Well - unless the USPS needs operational funding they pretend they don't receive and makes service cuts. Then I'd be slightly affected.
Hey USPS is a for profit entity.
So they said they wouldn't work on sundays or something, no biggie.
What I'm talking about is people living on section 8 housing, getting welfare and foodstamps.
welfare is also 99 weeks. Who the heck takes 99 weeks to find a job?
Or corporations such as GE getting green technology subsidies.
Or the military's bloated budget.
There is a lot of room for cutting.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: September 29, 2013, 12:36:07 AM
Hot diggity.
Ixcoin has grown 88% according to coinmarket cap.  Shocked
Maybe you're on to something Vlad2Vlad.
But even if I had 30 BTC I wouldn't have strong enough nerves to risk that much into alts.
Also I don't believe too much in marketing gimmicks when it comes to alts.
But... ixcoin is just so incredibly boring.
I mean its a grey coin with a name that doesn't particularly mean anything.
It looks like an accountant came up with it or something.
78  Economy / Marketplace / Re: would you buy gas gift cards with bitcoins? on: September 29, 2013, 12:20:44 AM
Is there any way to do digital-gift cards? Shipping is a bitch!
The only refillable gift card I've seen so far that can be refilled online is shell.
I'm going to buy one tomorrow to check out how it works.
Also I'll take my chances and ship through regular mail.(well first class mail to be exact)

80  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US government shutdown on: September 28, 2013, 11:01:30 PM
We're not going to go to Syria, we're not going to go to Iran and we're not going to start talking about global warming.
We're going to sit down and talk about the budget and find a way to cut it.
Its going to be done either the easy or the hard way.
