621  Economy / Lending / Re: In need of 1 BTC loan, 15 days (10% return) on: November 02, 2013, 06:09:29 PM

Girl: I need to borrow.
monbux: But my neighbor says you are kind of ugly.
Boy: I'll lend to you. I talked to the neighbor, and realized he was a filthy liar!
Girl: No, sorry. The neighbor says you are ugly.
Boy: :headsmack:
Neighbor/Troll: :Can't control his delight. Rubs hooves with glee.:

Another loan killed by the resident troll (Hint: rhymes with Sod)...
622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to store and forget btc? on: November 02, 2013, 06:00:27 PM
you all forget that it also has to be safe from the user's forgetfulness

it has to have some backup options too

dog's collar? what the hell are you thinking? And if it runs off or something? Same goes to other examples.

Then put it on 3 separate dog's collars.

The chance of all three dogs running away it once is 1 in a billion.

Plus, I like the fact that my dogs are not going to let you get the USB stick without a fight ... hehe. Smiley

If you really want to have some backup options, try putting it on the collar of a few cats. The odds of catching the cat would really make someone work for it, LOL!
623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Trades 58k btc rest of the World 34k on: November 02, 2013, 05:55:09 PM
Why dont Chinese people create their own cryptocurrency instead of buying into bitcoin at this high prices?

Brilliant idea. Every country could make their own digital currency Wink

Why? That's the last thing Bitcoin needs, it would severely hamper it growth....

The whole point of a digital currency, is to be able to be international. No need for individual countries to have their own. That would leave the door way to open for currency manipulation... could you imagine each country running ASICs trying to mine all their own coin? Or buying up all the coins to have a monopoly?

Lets leave Bitcoin as the .com of internet currencies alone, and leave the .cn and .eu of the cryptocurrency world alone.

Not a good idea. Sad
624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Open letter to Russell Brand, asking him to join the bitcoin revolution on: November 02, 2013, 05:46:17 PM
Russell Brand, Andrew Dice Clay, Jesse Ventura, Schwarzenegger......

Douche.... bag..... overload!!!!!

*ahem*

Let's try again.
Requirements to be semi-official spokesman of Bitcoin:

1) Cannot have had an extramarital affair.

2) Cannot be an outspoken critic about aliens or other weird crap.
(remember, the spokesperson is supposed to bring credibility to Bitcoin in the public's eyes, not scare them away!)

3) Cannot be full of themselves.

There!
625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to store and forget btc? on: November 01, 2013, 10:01:22 PM
Option A:

Put it on an encrypted USB stick, and attach that to your dog's collar.

Option B:

Bury the encrypted USB stick in a waterproof container in the yard.

626  Economy / Lending / Re: In need of 1 BTC loan, 15 days (10% return) on: November 01, 2013, 07:13:14 PM

Your trust rating has made me decide not to accept the "kind" offer.

Too late, offer rescinded.

I guess you don't really need a loan.
627  Economy / Lending / Re: In need of 1 BTC loan, 15 days (10% return) on: November 01, 2013, 06:27:40 PM
50% return for 15 days, what O.o
My ID required too? Social number comes free with that package..

That's my fee with no collateral.

If you want to offer collateral we can do that too.
Less risk, less reward. More risk, more reward.

You don't have to take my offer, but you should decide quickly before I rescind.
628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is killing Western Union! on: November 01, 2013, 05:16:46 PM
Western Union: bitcoin isn’t ready for international money transfer yet

http://www.coindesk.com/western-union-bitcoin-international-money-transfer/

That's because they feel it would not be easy enough to prevent money laundering at this point....
629  Economy / Lending / Re: In need of 1 BTC loan, 15 days (10% return) on: November 01, 2013, 04:47:09 PM
In all fairness the negative feedback was given by a nutjob for "attacking" a coin, whatever that means.

I'll lend 1 BTC for 15 days for 1.5 BTC back.

ID required to be sent to a neutral third party.
630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why you should be excited about china's new rising bitcoin interest on: October 31, 2013, 07:14:55 PM
Going back to the Baidu (or whatever the Chinese Google is called) I saw that as the most bullish news yet for BTC. People need to understand that when BTC is taken in by a large company like that, you can have reasonable certainty that the Government has a hand in it or at least gave the OK. And now there is the news of more BTC on CCTC regarding that Canadian ATM. The volume in China is now surpassing the US exchanges.

What happens when India Joins in? This is going to get bubbly and it might not really even be a bubble...

India is next. India is one of the biggest buyers of gold. Families in India rely heavily on gold to store wealth.

Bitcoin is perfect for this niche.

So it is not overlooked, one of the reasons Bitcoin is becoming big in China is because the ASIC manufacturers are based there, and many Chinese are getting the ASICs first and mining a fortune with them. It is in their best interest Bitcoin takes off in China so they can spend their newly acquired fortune.
631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is killing Western Union! on: October 31, 2013, 07:12:05 PM
I've done plenty of remittances for people, using Bitcoin since 2011. It's pretty much the *only* business I've done in Bitcoin aside from mining. I think you guys underestimate the size of Western Union. They have been around forever and would likely adopt/integrate Bitcoin before failing. They essentially have a trust network that puts the OTC to shame. They do somewhere over 500,000 transactions per day compared to Bitcoin at 50,000 (which, let's be honest, are likely mostly internal instead of peer-to-peer).

Bitcoin might be making a dent in Western Union, I'm not going to lie. But I doubt it'll be replacing it anytime soon.

You're right. WU has a huge amount of investors in it that will not let it fail....

As you mention, they will most likely integrate Bitcoin before they lose a significant market share to it.

632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins and Johnny Walker on: October 31, 2013, 07:06:23 PM
I get what he is trying to say.

In the mining days out West, traders would be able to trade items like whiskey or cigars instead of dollars.

The commodity value of items like that formed a baseline for the dollar value, or something like that. But I'm pretty sure it had more to do with the lack of availability of buying whiskey and tabacco due to lack of stores...
633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is killing Western Union! on: October 31, 2013, 07:04:01 PM

The speed at which USD is getting irrelevant is no joke. The end to petrodollar is being invented right here in the US, thanks to Tesla Wink

I like that Smiley

When can I buy a Tesla with Bitcoin? Cheesy
634  Economy / Lending / Re: Luke's Loans on: October 31, 2013, 06:38:16 PM
She contacted me an hour ago saying she will pay me back next week, but also requesting another smaller loan, which I do not have or can give since she did not pay back at the promised time.

She seem's trustworthy so I hope this was a bad week for her and she can repay next week.

Denial aint just a river in Egypt...

Consider that karma for giving me unwarranted bad feedback:

635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Open letter to Russell Brand, asking him to join the bitcoin revolution on: October 31, 2013, 06:33:36 PM

get some rapper to make a song about bitcoin is your response to changing government or beginning a revolution?Huh

unlike eminem or other rappers that would just make a song and thats it.. who would you have in mind. and how would that actually change things long term.

now getting back to my statement, having someone the public recognise that when they say something, its atleast honest and a better step in the right direction. and then having the passion and desire to want change is the next step. russell brand isnt just saying words, he honestly does want to create change. he has alot of activism history and getting his nose into matters such as the G-20, iran and other issues..

what has marshall mathers done.. handed some food to a food bank as a promotion for his foundation, which is now a tax dodge.

as for the winklevoss twins.. they are not selling or promoting bitcoin, they are selling personal shares into their own company which they value at X amount of bitcoins.. its their attempt to cash in on the bitcoin hype, as they missed doing it with the gold or platinum hype of decades gone.

Revolution is a big word.

The way to get Bitcoin to expand is through integration into popular culture; songs, TV, movies, etc.

I never mentioned Eminem, and am perplexed you mention him since he is not a legitimate rapper. Sorry.

Brand is a joke. Plain and simple. He is the Kanye West of the UK. He needs to disappear already.

If you need to read it from someone else: http://www.salon.com/2013/10/25/i_dont_stand_with_russell_brand_and_neither_should_you/
636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Trades 58k btc rest of the World 34k on: October 31, 2013, 06:26:57 PM
I do not think it is a coincidence China was feeling very skiddish a few weeks about the US debt they own, with Washington not raising the debt ceiling and with little progress.

China is spreading its risk to Bitcoin; the USD ain't what it used to be, especially with Obama at the helm.
637  Economy / Lending / Re: BTCJam loan #4838 by GMINER; to get some rep on here - for mining loan on: October 30, 2013, 07:18:28 PM
Thanks for the money, suckers! lol I <3 BTCJam! I've made over 75 BTC with it so far Tongue Right now I have about a dozen new loan requests out on BTCJam, but you'll never guess which ones they are Cheesy Who needs to buy ASICs when there's BTCJam LOL

Really?
638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Open letter to Russell Brand, asking him to join the bitcoin revolution on: October 30, 2013, 07:00:46 PM
would you prefer a politician that pretends he has no sexual desires in his veins, brains and DNA, a politician that denies inhaling drugs, a politician that just talks about what people want to hear, knowing after its said nothing changes
while later it comes to light he is a recovering drug addict and a womaniser.

or would you prefer a person that actually speaks his mind openly, that doesn't hide behind what nanny states call inappropriate and doesnt have its hands tied to 50 other politicians before a single speech or decision can be made.

i would love it if bush, clinton, or obama showed their human side.. by simply pointing at their wives and say 'i tap that, every night' we all know they do it, so why be against a human being that is not afraid to admit his previous failings with drugs and women.. i think honestly is the best policy.. and NOT policy without honesty is best

Huh?

How about neither? You seem to be stuck in the mainstream media mind of things.

On one side you have people like Clinton and Obama. On the other we have way coooool Russell Brand.... not.

Sorry mate, turn off the telly and tune out of that hogwash. Brand is a tool.

You want someone to bring positive attention to Bitcoin?

Winklevoss twins are a good start. Have the news cover the Chinese investing all their money in Bitcoin instead of US dollars.

Heck, just get some rappers to put Bitcoin in their songs, that will probably help the most, LOL.

640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Killer App = High Speed Anonymous Internet (TOR like) on: October 30, 2013, 06:42:09 PM
Why not try JonDoBrowser?

It's based on Tor, and accepts Bitcoin.

It practically eliminates the problem of being tracked by your browser through points of identification. It's higher speed for the paid (bitcoin) service. Free service also available.
