about how cheap do you think you'll be able to get the price per ghash down? if you can get it to even 75% of what cex is offering atm, i think it would drive a lot of interest (assuming you have enough hashing power that is)

The current estimate is sub $10-$5 GH/s, That will change over time as the price of GH/s per chip falls, the number of GH/s per chip rises and the number of chips that can fit on a single Wasp. But the trend is downward on the cost of GH/s.

Type: Project Development

Product Introduction
The place to discuss the design of our website

Let The SolarWind Mining Company know what you would like to see and what
features you would like to have on our website. Include technical information or advice at your leisure.

25% of the trading fees to be collected on the Hashing Exchange has been designated to be allocated
to contributors that help get the website and Hashing Exchange up and running, this is a sweat equity opportunity.

Here is an excerpt from a post that lists some of the planned features of the new website....

.......

What is planned for the website:

Here is a list of the various things that will be part of the new website,

I nice and attractive website that will have its own unique style.

A simple format with a responsive design that will be easy to navigate and will not tax your browser.

A Portfolio style layout that will present investor/customer data that is easily understood and easy to find the desired information.

-The portfolio will include an assets page so that investor/customers can see all their holdings on a single page
-Certificates that represent each type of asset that will clearly show exactly what the asset is for and its values
-BitShare account information that will include balances/transaction/credits, funds pending, orders and any other relevant information concerning deposited funds or current earnings
-Automatic payments to Personal Wallets that hold investor/customer earnings so the investor/customer can decide when and where to send their available funds at anytime they wish

A customized marketplace where investors/customers can purchase Contracts, BitShares, miningware and other merchandise that is being planned.

A shares trading platform where investors/customers can buy or sell any company assets that they own to other members or registered guests.

Blog and News section

Investor/Customer only forum

Public forum

Company mining data

Company mining pool

A company transparency section listing all company holdings and their status

EVERYTHING AUTOMATED ~ EVERYTHING AUTOMATED ~ EVERYTHING AUTOMATED!! (That one is for me  Wink)

There are a few other additions that are planned but those will have to wait until the above is finished. Because of a major issue with the hosting service I was using the old website is down and, to save on costs, will remain so until I have something more substantial to present to you. When I have a working model of the site I will post a link to it so you can check up on its progress.

...

Thanks,
James

hi james railzand here, your favourite thorn in the proverbial.

the above is really shaping up well and in principle I'm in for a btc or two.

in practise i'm a nervous nellie when sending dosh. i need to understand more

i'd frankly like to see a business plan, a statement of accounts and idk what else yet.

i'm sure all that's coming soon, perhaps you've said so already.

but when i see your great paragraphs of wisdom, i'm daunted and i wish you'd use bullet points or something /rant

edit: one more ranty thing, i'd prefer every last thing from your upcoming website to be available here too so that all on this forum can input their wisdom

Thanks again railzand for your contribution, I am learning a lot from your questions. Sorry for the 'long winded' explo's, its just my nature, but I'll work on it.  Undecided

I do have a website in the works, there is a lot of work yet to be done, but it is in process as we speak. It will contain most of the information that you asked for. I'll start a project page in the project development subcategory so everyone can voice their opinions and make suggestions to make it the best site that we can.

Thanks!
James

i would need a pcb design or better complete boards where to just add the chips,
but then i would get at least a TH of them

We will offer a fabrication/assembly service for the Wasps, and will offer a few of the PCBs for sale as soon as the design is finalized and we get a manufacture producing the units. I will mark you up as a possible reserve for 1 Th/s worth of A1s.

James this is great.

I can hold enough BTC (or is it $?) to buy ten more chips at all tiers solely so that you can bump up if needed, until date to be confirmed, unless btc skyrockets details also tbc

I don't really want them myself, so please let the big guns roll, and we sort out what I do with my 10 after the buy, no worries.

But I do reckon you'll get to the top tier soon enough.

Thanks railzand, I'll put you down for a reserved count of 10 A1s. And don't worry, if you don't want to take physical possession of the chips there are lots of ways we can handle that for you. You can sell them to someone else, we can mount them for you and you can sell them on the Hashing Exchange or to someone else or pay the assembly fee and have them shipped directly to you or to the individual you sell them to.

I think that I will change this thread from 'Testing' to 'Open' if we get a few more interested parties. So, how bout it?  Smiley

When I go live with this Group Chip Buy, I'll post a link to a spreadsheet or something like it so we all can see the progress of the GCB. I might also link to web page that will let you place a reserve order, etc.... etc...

Depending on when the order would go down I might be interested in 100 @ $70 per

Would be to go with the Wasp setup been watching because I like the idea.
OK, we have one marked as 'interested' when we reach 9999 9900 A1 chip requests. That's a start anyway.  Smiley

Very forward-looking project. I like! Do you have an estimation on the power draw for the a1 wasp & minion wasp?

Good luck with your operation and definately interested!!

Thanks for the support and I'll find that info out if I can, but we are still in the prototype stage of development.

Are you selling populated or unpopulated boards?

What's the min # of chips requred to populate the board?

Primarily, we will offer populated Wasps, but offering empty boards are always possible.

The number of chips per Wasp depends on the chip being used. For Example:

A1 Wasp. (LIVE)
  • Bitmine A1 Chips Available December
  • 240 Gh/s Overclocked (6 chips); more likely, with untested chips, 200 GH/s per board
  • Nominal total 2000 Gh/s, or almost 2 full backplanes (assuming that all chips are fully working AND overclockable to 40GH - not really likely, but our software can get the most possible out of them).
  • Nominal likely total hashing from 50 chips (and this is all that Bitmine guarantees) is 48 x 25 = 1.2 TH on 12 boards
  • Best case: 0.0180625 BTC Gh/s, or about $3 USD GH/s
  • Likely case: 0.0301 BTC/GH/s, or about $5 USD GH/s

Minion Wasp. (LIVE)
  • Black Arrow Minion Chips Available February
  • 520 Gh/s Standard (4 chips)
  • Total 2080 Gh/s

So what are we buying exactly?

Hello S4VV4S,

SWMC will be offering hosted Hashing Power that is built on the Wasp and Hive platform. This should provide the GB'er with a faster turn around on their investment. You won't have to wait for several months for your investment to start hashing for you. And no guessing on when the hardware will be delivered because the Wasps are designed to be built using any chip, we will be able to mine Bitcoin as well as other altcoins including Litecoin, Protoshares, Bitbar or any one of them you can imagine. We will know exactly how many chips we can get and approximately when they should arrive. Our goal is the speedy implementation of available miningware. This is a no-preorder service, your purchase funds are put to work building a Wasp as soon as there are enough funds to pay for the components. And, SWMC will not sell a Contract for Hashing Power if the time frame for delivery doesn't have a reasonable amount of assurance.

The cost to build one Wasp is not nearly as much as buying a whole unit from most of the companies out there. The result, fewer GB'ers have to purchase a contract in order for SWMC to acquire the miningware and you don't have to wait as long. SWMC will also serve as a retail provider of the miningware, so, if you have a group of people that want to purchase and receive the physical miningware, you'll have that option. If you bought hosted miningware (and you own the entire Wasp or pay for it over time) and you want to have physical possession of YOUR miningware, SWMC will ship it to you!

Have your own chips? SWMC will be providing a fabrication/assembly/hosting service as well. Want to sell your own hardware? Use SWMCs fabrication/assembly service and will also warehouse and dropship your branded product orders for you.

You will also have the option to sell your Hashes on SWMCs own Hashing Exchange when it is ready (a similar process as with CEX, but with needed improvements.)

There is one additional option that SWMC is offering, in order for our service to function properly, we need to have chips on hand, or at least paid for and being shipped, at all times. That will take some serious upfront cash if we want to get the lowest price possible, so SWMC will serve as a chip distribution center. To accomplish this, SWMC will serve as an organizer of Raw Chip Buy Co-ops. This is a great opportunity to make some extra profits for anyone who wants to contribute. For Chip Buys, a GB'ers funds will be used to purchase the chips needed in higher volumes, so we can get the lowest prices possible. Once the chips are in hand, SWMC will mount them to a Wasp PCB, then either use them to fill GB orders, sell them retail or use them to add to the Hashing Exchanges pool. If a GB'er invests in a Chip Buy Co-op, they will receive a profit on the resale of the chips once they are mounted to a Wasp PCB and sold. Or, the GB'er will have the option to sell the Hashes that their chips provide on the SWMCs Hashing Exchange. If a GB'er wants to sell their hashes on the exchange, they'll only have to pay SWMC for their portion of the fabrication/assembly fee. Think of this offer as being a way to get in on the retail side of the crypto-coin mining industry. Instead of buying miningware to mine with, you will be on the side of selling miningware. If you really want to mine, then diversify as a hedge against Bitcoins volatility by using your profits from a Chip Buy Co-op to leverage your own funds into more Hashing Power than you can now afford.

SWMC will also coordinate with other chip buyers so that we can pool funding together to buy higher volumes, saving money for us all. SWMC will not charge a markup fee for Chip Buy Co-ops, just a shipping and handling fee. So if you are wanting to purchase Raw Chips for your own company's production, join SWMC in a Raw Chip Buy Co-op and reduce your chip cost as much as 25% or more. It shouldn't just be the big mining farms and manufactures who benefit from large volume purchases, let us work together for the benefit of all.

Testing support for a multi-group Group Buy
This GCB has now opened. Reserve Your Position, chips will be shipped in the order of reservation. If you are a group or individual planning on purchasing the Bitmine A1 ASIC Chip, we can save up to 25% off the cost by pooling our resources together. SWMC will be using The Wasp and Hive design created by The Wasp Project Collective, of which I am a member, to build its own miningware. Just like you, we want the best price we can get.

I suggest a tiered approach by raising funds up to the amount of each discounted quantity. Tier 1 would be for 500 A1s and no discount. Once funding is secured for Tier 1, then we move on to Tier 2 for 1000 A1s with a 2.857% discount. Having Tier 2 funded, we move on to the next tier and higher discounted price and so on... For each tier level that is reached the cost per GH/s - A1 Chip is reduced, which would give you credit towards the next tier (e.i.. You get more for the same money.)

Again, this is only a test to see if there is support for a multi-group GB. So
Chime in and let us know what you are thinking or reserve your position in the order stack.

EDIT: Just a note, there will be no markup on this GCB if it is completed. The point of this GCB is to get the best price possible for the chips. You can do what you want with your chips and they will be sent to where ever you want them to be sent to. The only additional costs will be the extra shipping involved in moving your chips to your preferred location. The WPC will be offering licenses for the Wasp and Hive design so there will be plenty of places you can have your chips mounted if you want to have them on a Wasp. Or, you may have other ideas and that's just fine. The orders will be by the chip, so if you want 30 chips, you can reserve 30 chips@$X-Tier. If you want 1200 chips, it's just the same. Let's just work together to get the lowest price we can. Why let just the biggest mining operations have the volume price advantage? You can also create or add your own escrow accounts and your own purchase groups so long as you deliver the funds when they are needed to make the final purchase. I just serve as an organizer, so you don't have to send me anything at all.

When reserving your lot and please post comments in a separate reply so reservations won't get missed.

Please use the following format: [Y A1 Chips@$X-Tier#], where Y is the # of chips you want, X is the maximum in USD you wish to pay for each chip and # is the Tier Level.

Example: 100 A1 Chips@$87.5-Tier1

Thanks,
James Tate

Hi James and crew... some great updates here.

Do we have an ETA on when the miners are going to ship?  if so when should we expect to be mining?

thanks for all the hard work

Thanks dan244,

No word on when the Neptunes will ship, but read the post with KnCMiners news letter. KnC is essentially saying that if there are delays in shipping that Neptune owners will be given free hashing power until the units ship to ensure that their customers reach ROI. They are also offering free miner hosting, but we will have to wait to see what the details are in following announcements.

@davideak - OK, UserID added. I believe I have everyones email and I was working on a mass email to update everyone and ask for their payment address if they don't see it on the spreadsheet.

Dear All

It has been a while since our last communication and this update is overdue and we do apologise for that. In this newsletter we want to update you on 3 important things.Neptune Development Progress, Jupiter sales and our new project - Plan B.

Neptune Development Progress

Over the last few months things have most certainly not stopped here at KnC, and we have made massive progress on our 20nm chip and it will be one of the first 20nm chips to come out to market with the strong support of our partners, TSMC, AST and Alchip. The backend engineering teams have been working 7 days a week around the clock to bring this chip to market as fast as possible. We have of course learnt a lot from our previous 28nm design and with that knowledge we will squeeze even more out of our 20nm chip.

The news we can tell you today is that we have a further reduction in power consumption of around 11% from our initial calculations, which means we can squeeze in even more cores. The core count per package is already over 1000 and with every reduction in power usage we will add in more cores to maximize the performance. This is a great bit of news.

Jupiter sales

We are no longer going to offer Jupiter for sale. We had intended to offer Jupiter following the end of our Network Protection phase, however things move fast in the Bitcoin world and we have decided to end all future sales of Jupiter. We know this may disappoint some people waiting for buy more Jupiters, however, we have some exciting news that we would like to share today and its called ‘Plan B’.

Plan B

As you are all aware we broke many world records in releasing the 28nm chip in such a short amount of time. We are a very ambitious company but even for us, to go “all in” and not be able to deliver on our performance targets, like our competition, would be completely unacceptable to us as a company and everything we stand for. So today we are introducing, Plan B.

To make sure that everyone who has paid for their Neptune gets their hashing power we are building a data centre like no other. It is located in the north of Sweden not far from Facebook and other Mega Data Centres and it’s totally powered by renewable energy.

Over the next few months we are bringing online enough hashing power to make sure that any delay in the Neptune timeline will be compensated with a completely free hosted hashing packages to all fully paid customers.

In the addition to this commitment, as part of Plan B, for all Neptune customers, we will be offering a free conversion to a hosted hashing package where we will simply fill your wallets directly and you won’t have to worry about anything else. All the other costs taken care of by us. We are able to do this by using our 28nm chips which is why all products that we have coming out of our factory in the next few months will go into building and supplying the Plan B facility.

If, during the course of development of Neptune, there is any threat to the timelines for delivery, those delays will not result in the loss of any mining time for our Neptune customers. We will release more details of this as we get closer to the delivery date, but for now we have one of the world’s largest data centres to build.

Thanks
KnCMiner Team

Hey guys,

I was thinking about how understanding you all have been. Not one of you has relaid a single message or post expressing anger or frustration. You haven't been hounding me for information, you haven't... no... instead of telling you all the things that you haven't done, I'll tell you what you have been. You have been PERFECT!!

Seriously! Because of the website issues, delay's in getting the spreadsheet out and limited communications. I expected to have to deal with hundreds of emails demanding this or that, the scammer tag being thrown around and a host of other unpleasant experiences all of which I desperately wanted to avoid. But you guys, yoouuu guuuyyyss!! None of it has happened, and if it had I wouldn't have blamed you at all. You guys are just AMAZING PEOPLE! How did I get so lucky as to get YOU all in MY GB!!??

Now, I feel bad about this whole website and openCart mess. I know it's my fault. I mean, I don't know how it is my fault exactly, but I'm sure I messed with some setting or file and cause all this trouble for all of us. I want you all to know how much your patients and understanding means to me and how lucky I have felt about having such great people backing me up. And it's not just you, my regular investors have acted the same way.

SWMC is in the process of doing several upgrades to its business model and its website. One of those upgrades is a Hashing Exchange similar to CEX.io. I want to show you all my appreciation, so I am giving everyone in the #KN-R001 GB and all of my current investors an equal share of 0.5% of the hash trading fees, for LIFE! And don't think you can sell it to someone else either, I want your grandchildren to be getting payouts from the trading fees!

So, Thanks for being GREAT PEOPLE, cheers!
James

Ok, here is the spreadsheet for the GB. Sorry that it is not completed, but I will be updating it with correct information as I filter through the file from database hell. I don't know what happened, but the information is hard to sort through. Some purchases are referenced multiple times, but don't easily correlate with one another, so it's hard to see if some of the duplicates are actually the same order. Some orders aren't in the database at all, but I have the transaction information so I'll include that information when I verify everything else.

I could use your help to get some of this sorted out. If you would do the following things I would appreciate it very much. Smiley

A copy of all email between you and I and all other requested information sent to this email address: solarwind.mining.company@gmail.com
Copy of your invoice if you have it.
Transaction #s, BTC addresses (both send & receive)
Your purchase information if you don't have an invoice
Anything else you think is important.

Thanks for being patient, you guy's are GREAT!!

about how cheap do you think you'll be able to get the price per ghash down? if you can get it to even 75% of what cex is offering atm, i think it would drive a lot of interest (assuming you have enough hashing power that is)

The price will be market driven like CEX.io. Although I may institute a fair market cap on prices to prevent them from being sold for 10x or more than what they are really worth like it is at CEX.io. A base price would be hard to guess at The Wasps will use ANY chip, sha or scrypt or (anything else) and you can mine any crypto-whats-it if you install the chip for it, so the price to build is anywhere between $7-3 a GH/s for Bitcoin mining depending on the chip and volume discounting. Of course that price will go down as the price of GH/s per chip goes down. Its dynamic, not static. An example of what could make a substantial difference in cost is Bitmine's Coincraft A1 28nm ASIC. If you buy 500 A1 chips they cost $3.5 per GH/s at a price of $44,000 or $88 per chip. 10,000 A1 chips at that price would set you back $880,000. But, Bitmine gives a volume discount, for 10,000 A1 chips the price is $2.8 per GH/s for a total of $700,000. Thats a savings of around 20% or $180,000!

That 20% difference definitely determines if, and how long it will take, you (to) make ROI. Buy the way, that's one reason why the BIG mining companies are able to continue mining and profiting with the same chip you have in your Block Erupter while you are trying to figure out whether to toss your Block Erupter in the trash can or send it to be recycled, plus they build there own miners for their own mining and to sell them to you for a markup. They generally do not pay retail for there miners. So, as an individual, you don't have a chance to compete with those guys. That's why I started SWMC, to give the average person as close to the same opportunity as the BIG GUYS have as possible. Unfortunately, not enough people have seen the light and joined us. Imagine how profitable your bitcoin mining investment would be if you joined a collective and you all raised the capital to purchase 10,000 A1 chips, or 20,000 or 30,000. There you would be, with your tiny contribution of 0.3 BTC earning the same profit percentage as any of the BIG mining operations out there, instead of desperately trying to figure out how to get your hands onto a few TH/s of gear.

Anyway, I digress.

You will own the hashing power that your chips produce

sounds too good to be true

Why?

As far as the Hashing Exchange, the SWMC will derive its revenue from trading fees, hosting fees and selling its own hashes, so it benefits SWMC to offer the service. The more hashing power we have the higher the volume of hashes traded - ergo --> a higher volume of hosting and trading fees collected by SWMC. And SWMC isn't going to mount those chips onto a Wasp for free. SWMC will offer to mount the chips in exchange for either a fee, a percentage of the total number of chips or by some other mutually beneficial arrangement. Any chips acquired through this method will be added to the mix of chips that SWMC purchases to satisfy its own needs.

So you can see that there is sound reasoning behind offering a 'chip mounting'/hosting/'trade or keep your hash' service: higher volume of hashes traded in the Hashing Exchange increases the volume of collected trading fees, hosting more units increases collected hosting fees, convenient access to ASICs helps increase SWMC's own chip count, being fair and sharing the opportunity with others makes people happy which will make people love SWMC which in turn provides SWMC with greater opportunities (opportunities that SWMC will, again, share with others! Hey, anyone feel like breaking out and singing "The Circle of Life?"  Cheesy)

Since I brought up the topic of sharing opportunity, SWMC will be offering investment contracts specifically for the Hashing Exchange. Help SWMC purchase the ASICs and supporting hardware and you'll get a portion of the profits generated by your investment's share of the exchange. Hmm... thinking... Maybe we could do a Protoshare Dac, Mastercoin app or our own SWMC proof of stake crypto-"coin." Maybe a SWMC HashExCoin for easy trading and transfer of ownership in the Hashing Exchange. We can call it the HEX... Ahhh!! There we go, we could rip the CEX.io concept almost completely. We could call the exchange HCX (HCX <-compare-> CEX. Grin) 'made the C in HCX by using a capital 'C' and the strikeout bbs code' Don't take this naming business too seriously, mostly I'm just fun'n around. (Or maybe brainstorming?)

So railzand, what is your opinion now?

Thanks,
James
