261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 13, 2016, 05:23:09 AM
The distribution model has become such a distraction it dominates the community conversation, should be speaking more about the merits of the technology and platform.

Yes all people are greedy and wish to get more, in a more "fair" deal to himself.

Talking about tech stuff, I have a question: since there's no fixed block time, the tx happens as it comes, isn't that should be instant confirmation if there are enough activity going on? What is the delay of the confirmation? it heavily depend on the network activity?

It is not instant, it takes a few minutes and depends on the overall activity in the network: the more activity, the faster.

Why it is not instant? say if there are 1000 tx per second in the network, my transaction once done will be covered within a second by 50 other transactions, isn't that after 1 second my transaction will have 50 confirmations? If we put 10 confirmations as confirmed, isn't my tx is confirmed after less than 1 sec?

800% pos.  Grin

Why dev. why even try?

because hopes and dreams are as big as a pump and dump lol  Cheesy

lol thats too funny. When I try and explain to people what makes these coins worth anything, I usually say a little about legit projects then the .In reality every coin trades based on the hopes and dreams of those who want to get rich. Easiest way to explain why altcoins have value. Hopes & dreams = value

Isn't 800% is to create dreams to hold onto his coins? If the price is stable, there makes a lot sense to hold. But if the coin is dumped, as is the case here, then 0 by 800% still 0.

Every altcoin has a nonzero base value on the Bitcoin market and the coin is actively selling, so your theory is wrong.

What do you mean I am wrong? In Yobit there are 27 mil IFLTs selling at 1 sat and 64 mil selling at 2 sats, and no one is buying. Isn't that mean the value of the coin is zero?
263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to do a coin distribution? on: December 13, 2016, 01:27:53 AM
Better distribute freely according to holding of bitcoins or membership so you can build a community. Doing ICO if only your idea is really new otherwise you won't get much and coins will be dumped shortly.
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin is one of best altcoins, easy exchange to/from BTC, fast transfers on: December 13, 2016, 01:20:30 AM
I don't think dogecoin is a good coin. It started as a joke, became very popular due to social media publicity. It has unlimited coin supply, which will eventually kill the coin.

Awesome! Who's next? 9 more to go... the first to reply will receive the most ETH

Here it is
0x946f703fbcd5f0b52528cf6e7e8cb0f28147b786

will read in details what it does exactly... but from what I read so far, not worth an ICO though.

No worries if you don't think it's worth the ICO don't buy but again the white paper will come out tomorrow and my blockchain exchange is the first one working in the world despite all the big players receiving millions. I just sent you .2 ETH anyways. Thanks for testing it out!

Thanks. I got 0.4 ETH? lol. Anyway I will do some tests, and will read your white paper. It is a reasonable Ethereum project. There are many Ethereum projects, some are promising. Not meant to trash the coin, but what I meant is if just an ethereum project, may not worth ICO. But if it has really good ideas, it may worth.

"fair launch POW" will not be fair at all, it favors people with more hash power thus those with more BTCs (they can buy hash power at places like nicehash). ICOs even worse, it put priority to those who have more BTCs and satisfy first the greedy of the dev, instead of encouraging dev to do a better work. And many garbage coins and promises on the papaer are created this way.

Fair launch POW favours nobody at all. You all have to contribute the same effort to mine. The only real variable is cost of electricity and over a short mining period that does not mean much.

Of course if you have more money you can rent more hash? but you are actually being charged the same as anyone else. You are actually spending money you are not getting coins for free however rich you are. This method is giving you a LOT more FREE coins just because you are rich and have more BTC you do not have to spend your BTC to get it. So you are getting hugely unfair advantage at no cost or risk at all.

...

Of course PoW favors big guys with hash power. Just look at other coins for PoW, who got the most of the coins? Go to a pool and look, big guys got it all. For a small guy like me, I'd prefer what Tony defined for distribution. The distribution is not once for all, but several distribution and also count the BBs you have. So it is fair.

Come on ....of course the more hash power you have the more coins you will mine. That's not at all what I am saying is it?

Rich guy wants to rent hash he has to pay the same as you to rent hash.

Rich guy wants BB he gets magnitude more than you will for putting the same effort in of linking his BTC whale account.

Can you see here that BB is less fair than POW?

I can't reverse time and circumstances that made him rich and you poor can I? Life maybe was not fair but in crypto you can make things a little more fair for the poor (non BTC whales)

I am saying to you that this method will ensure that he (rich guy) will put the same effort and cost as you into BB and get magnitudes more coins. Where as if it was POW to get 2x more coins than you he will have to spend 2x more? If he spends the same as you he will get the same.

Yes there will be argument he owns his farm and you are renting hash - so what he had to buy the hardware. FYI I have a tiny amount of rigs in my house and will get far less mining than I will by linking my BTC accounts.

Also lots of hash whales tend to rent hash now on launches. Most GPU huge farms stick to high volume coins to unload and pay electricity and hardware loans anyway.

Please stop with your PoW. You want to move from a distribution model where anyone can gets byteball for free to one where you have to either mine yourself or rent hashpower. Who the hell do you think will rent hashpower ? People with a lot money because people with a tiny amount are not going to risk it.

The current distribution method is more fair than PoW because :
You don't risk your money : in PoW you have to either mine yourself - so you pay hardware and electricity or rent it, so both case you pay
Anyone can join easily : two methods to link your BTC address and there is lot of tutorials - not the case for PoW, it's not that easy to mine even with tutorials for a guy lambda
Easy to put handle for the creator : creating a PoW coin just to make an initial distribution, then make a snapshot, then distribute the real coins is to much work for nothing.

Agree. I feel the current distribution is very fair, and I am gratitude that dev did not do an ICO or CFC and distribute coins for free. This increases the credibility of the dev team and is certainly recommended.

Personally I think zerocoin protocol is better than zerocash protocol. Zerocash protocol hides everything so if the dev leaves a backdoor and secretly creates coins, people will be difficult to discover it. While zerocash you can see the total coins minted, so dev can not do things secret behind the scene.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 08, 2016, 08:46:01 PM
Track the linking progress at http://transition.byteball.org

Some people tried to send microtransactions from exchange wallets.  These addresses have been deleted:

1MFXYK1XucKFfhPhW9HDHD3vsM9BKey4qm poloniex
3ALHU1TB4rS6t23j6nv61bzSyKKzgmSAZX bitstamp
1DEcTtkrbdXxS1wbrMvzub5X4VpByYmAwo poloniex

Tony, please check 13vHWR3iLsHeYwT42RnuKYNBoVPrKKZgRv
https://blockchain.info/address/13vHWR3iLsHeYwT42RnuKYNBoVPrKKZgRv

With this huge activity it seems to be an exchange wallet as well!

I also remember seeing this address earlier today linked to two different byteball addresses, the bot probably kept the first after it updated ... I was wondering if it would be fair to blacklist addresses that try to link to different byteball accounts, I mean can there be any valid case for someone to try that unless they want to cheat the system (or maybe they were trying to find bugs Smiley)?

Edit: Just thought of a case: I link my address to a first account, I then destroy this account and link the same address to a new account. So does the linking disappear when a byteball account is destroyed?

I also remember some discussion about detecting exchanges addresses, so what follows might have been addressed before:

How is this detection done? Isn't there a risk that someone links an exchange address on Decmeber 24 23:59:59 UTC and gets included in the snapshot? Meaning would it be costly to try and detect exchange addresses before adding them (and removing them afterwards, as it seems to be done for now)?

I also assume that an address that used a signed message can't be an exchange address, or am I mistaken? Exchanges staff might control private keys of addresses at some extent, so I think I'm mistaken Smiley (well technically I was for a second Smiley).

I was wondering how micro could the micropayment be, some exchanges charge 0.0001 or 0.0002 (maybe others less) as a fee for a withdrawal, is it possible to make the micropyament less than that (or at least less that the minimum they authorize to be withdrawed)?

Already watching this address.  Looks like it is Bittrex hot wallet but I'm not sure https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/015a002330a8624a?from_address=13vHWR3iLsHeYwT42RnuKYNBoVPrKKZgRv.
If somebody did withdrawals from Bittrex and can find this address in history, please confirm.

Currently, exchanges are detected by the number of outputs.  Normal transactions should have 2 outputs: the micropayment and the the change.  Exchanges usually aggregate many withdrawals into single transaction and they have more than 2 outputs.  See the history of the above addresses.  However this detection is not bullet proof.

If you link the same Bitcoin address to another Byteball address, the old link is currently removed.  We could blacklist such Bitcoin addresses altogether (i.e. if different Byteball addresses try to link to them) but this might negatively affect blockchain.info users who have constant address by default as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong).

Further lowering of micropayment amount is risky because it opens an attack vector: an attacker might see your microtransaction on the blockchain and repeat it exactly from his address (i.e. send the same amount to the same our address) trying to link his address and trick you to send all your bitcoins to his address.  Most users will notice, and the attacker just loses his bitcoins, but if the amounts are too small, the attack might pay off.

Yes, signed message cannot be abused easily.

This will be too much detective for for the devs. I'd prefer the dev team focus on the features which are much more important. Dev should use some easier rules, such as (1) signed message are 100% trusted (2) send coin, as long as no one else claim it and its daily tx count less than certain amount it should be accepted.

273  Economy / Services / Re: Need Developers Who Can Bring New Technology on: December 06, 2016, 05:18:56 AM
You need to provide much more information in order for people to help you; what do you want to bring to the table? What's your new unique idea? There are so many altcoins that have failed to make a big impact, what can your plan do that will succeed? Also, what qualifications do developers need for the project?

I need the idea, need smarter technology and not mainstream

Could you elaborate a bit? If you need an idea, technology, AND code, why should someone partner with you instead of creating their idea for themselves only and keep 100% of the profits? What are you bringing to the table? In the OP you talked a bit about relations with many worldwide communities, could you explain further?

Exactly, what I read from your post is that
(1) you want do something big
(2) you need ideas of what are the new directions, new ways, new methods
(3) you can't do any coding, you need people come with smart ideas and implement for you.

Then the problem is, if I have (2) and (3), why not I do it myself, why I want to partner with you? what do you bring to the table?

I dont think "virus" is a real issue, many being detected with "bitcoin miner" which is perfectly normal as there is a miner in the client. I just don't understand why price is going down to hell. I used to mine this coin but now there's no point of mining it.
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: JaneCoin on: December 01, 2016, 03:07:32 AM
This announcement looks very familiar.

I believe the dev is the creator of several previous shitcoins which have all been abandoned.....

Maybe I'm wrong but it looks familiar to BeatCoin and Checoin dev style...

A person with a lot of shit ICO for grabbing some money again.... Over several times I have seen about this style of typewriting.

another shitcoin... there are so many lately, many doing ICOs, I doubt who the heck the "investors" will pay for this kind of scam.

@OP you sure do like to type, which is actually a good thing! Effort is attractive  Wink

I wish you all the best with your search, it does sound good to say the least!

looks like an idea discussion here? the "dev" is still learning C++/python, it will take years for hi to be a proficient programmer and be able to implement these. Lol, time to sit back and relax Grin

Well atleast he's trying and enthusiastic with his ideas...

I agree, it's not a bad thing. It's always good to discuss ideas and see how that can be implemented. It could attract some good developers and may have an interesting project.

....and still nothing....

Dont you have your own shit to worry about? Thanks..

Anyways.. I am currently fixing some issues with the basic STRB platform.. including some slight syncing issues where we see it freeze up after synced amounts of 500 or groups of 500. Also, I will be adding auto-recombining of blocks to cut down on crashing wallets. Then, I will be cloning and creating the swap directly from updated STRB code. If anyone wants to help out let me know what other changes could be made on existing strb code.

Great news dev and good luck Smiley

5000% PoS! Wow. How much pos now? Is it still 5000%? It should be called inflation stake or fly-to-moon stake. Man you need to have a creative name in order to attract people!
