381  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Secure your account on: May 03, 2014, 04:23:27 AM
I survived inputs.io hack, mtgox and now coinbase. (my loss less than 10% of my holdings) Here is what i do to secure an account:

I use just a complex password. no app, no 2FA, no nothing
My email address cannot be hacked using forgot my password. (even i don't remember that)
make sure u get into the real site
don't use same username or password for a trusted site and an untrusted site
use different complex password for email and other important accounts
passwords may be similar to you but inguessable for a hacker

Split your btc among different services.

On top of that, you need to be careful with malware like this. http://www.coindesk.com/chrome-extension-could-vulnerable-malware/

Saw a lot of investments today, may some whales will come.

The site's profit went up 30btc these days.

Because 1DiCe1 lost 40 btc on the site a few days ago. Smiley

Don't gamble or play responsibly.

385  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is a Deterministic Wallet ? on: May 03, 2014, 04:11:28 AM
Is it possible that the private key generated from a passphrase by a deterministic wallet, gets also generated by non-deterministic wallet from a random number ? I understand the negligibility of the collision chance factor. What I am trying to understand here is if it is theoretically feasible at all !!!

A collision is possible, but the range of values used for a wallet seed is so large that the chances of a collision is negligible -- assuming that the random number generator actually works well.

This.

For your info, seed used in Electrum is 128 bits, so there are a total of 2^128 possible choices of the seed.
Bitcoin address and private keys are 160 and 256 bits on the other hand.

Is it possible to have a collion? Yes, but the probability is extremely extremely extremely small.
386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any trusted website that exchange bitcoin to paypal? on: May 03, 2014, 04:08:19 AM
I haven't heard of any site do that. You can sell bitcoin for paypal on localbitcoins, but be careful with people with no or little history.
387  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet fee? on: May 03, 2014, 04:01:08 AM
this option to turn off fees would be good on multibit

Not when many people don't understand the effect of it, ie. the transaction could take days or even never get confirmed.

389  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do YOU know a wallet is safe to use? on: May 03, 2014, 03:49:45 AM
I always tell people to use only bitcoin-qt. Its the safest wallet out there. I know its going to be 100Gig soon but safety first...

It is only just 19 GB now. I am sure my HDD will die first, before the blockchain reaches 100 GB Smiley
390  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who sent me bitcoins...? on: May 03, 2014, 03:47:09 AM

A good way to start is to put your address in your signature or in your profile, like OP Smiley

392  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 7000$ investion on: May 03, 2014, 03:35:05 AM
Can u help me with advice, i have 7000$ for investion, do i invest in mining rig for litecoin or some hardware for bitcoin? Your advice?

Agree with the majority here, you should buy bitcoin instead of mining hardware.
You can hold your bitcoin, or invest them in bankroll of casinos. Cheesy

Hey guys:)

Im new in the cryptocurrencywolrd and have some questions.

I got my wallet and some BTC.

I want to mine and want to trade.

what do i have to know about mining and which Hardware do i have to get?

Where should i mine or which sofetware do i have to install?

which coin is the best to mine?

which trading platform is the best to trade BTC or other alt coins?

some inevitable websites ?

Thanks lot Wink

You can mine with different hardware (CPU, GPU, scrypt ASIC, sha256 ASIC, etc).
You can mine different types of coins (sha256, scrypt, scrypt-jane, quark, etc) and you may need different software to mine.

It is hard to break even with mining now, so don't expect to get profits at all.

The biggest btc exchanges are bitstamp and btc-e, and the biggest altcoin exchange is cryptsy.

After hearing about the R-value and RNG incidences,
I wondering if the private key of the address can really be derived or the intruder must have got in another way.

I posted on reddit few days ago, http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/23ybk8/just_came_back_from_hospital_for_appendix_rupture/

but it's such a big amount that I couldn't let go,

TLDR:, the address is from my blockchain.info wallet, I made a big mistake importing it to my main wallet, forgot about it, and one day decided to randomly pick an address to receive 151 BTC, turned out that I picked that address, 2 months later, 150 BTC traveled on its own out of the address, it took me 5 days to realized the loss.

I wasn't sure how I signed up for my blockchain.info wallet. I cannot find prove that I used browser to sign up that day, there is a slight chance that it could be an android device.

Sorry to hear your loss.
I don't think you can recover the loss, and I suggest you to create a new paper wallet or offline wallet and put majority of your bitcoin in it now.
396  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost 150 BTC from this address on: May 03, 2014, 03:09:22 AM
blockchain.info is an online wallet?

Though you have sole control of your private keys on blockchain.info wallet (unlike on exchanges), your bitcoin can be stolen with malware on your computer.
397  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin question? on: May 03, 2014, 02:58:39 AM
I hear that bitcoin will be unbanned after may 10 in China. Does that mean bitcoins price will go up? Should I buy now? Thanks guys.

Where did you get that news? I heard its total ban after may 10..

I heard of that "May 10 deadline" as well.

Btw, I keep hearing those Chinese "bans" and "deadlines" since last Decemeber.
Were they true? Probably not.
Will there be a ban in the end? Who knows?

There is no "ban" in China, at least up till now. There are restriction of ways to deposit money in exchanges though.
399  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin question? on: May 03, 2014, 02:52:24 AM
Sorry I hate to sound like a huge noob, but why should one buy bitcoin when the price is stable?

So that you can pay people around the globe with extremely low fee and almost instant transfer.
