Here you go: http://mapofcoins.com/#

You are no longer allowed to make an altcoin because there is no more space on the map!

Woot, the first thing I found is that "412 currencies in total, 33 this month" on the top right corner, which means we have a new altcoin every day...
222  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Here on: August 02, 2014, 02:14:15 PM
All right guys im new here so go easy on me but anyway i want to know if its possible to mine bit/lite/etc coin using Rasberry pi and a usb miner on the stlye like Butterfly Labs BFL Jalapeno and make a somewhat profit. Thanks

If the bitcoin mining difficulty is going to rise at 15-20% or more (like the past year) each time, I don't think any existing ASIC could give you profit.
BUt if it is going to rise at ~5% each time (like the previous 2 jumps), it could be profitable.
223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Easiest Way to send and purchase bitcoin, fast! on: August 02, 2014, 02:09:44 PM
so in which ways is this better than localbitcoins?

You will get scammed 100% by OP if you used his site to buy bitcoin lol. From OP's perceptive, it is a big advantage. Wink
224  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello.. on: August 02, 2014, 02:07:11 PM
Hi, everyone

Just wanted to say hi to all the members of the site.

And hopefully I will be able to learn new ways of earning bitcoins here as I don't have enough to spend on mining and/or purchasing right now.

Thanks

Before learning how to earn bitcoin, you should learn how to protect your bitcoin before it is too late.
A good article on it: http://www.coindesk.com/information/how-to-store-your-bitcoins/
225  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Payment From a Paper Document on: August 02, 2014, 01:58:49 PM
I'm going to be doing a series of presentations and meetings and I want to be able to accept donations.  Is there a way to put an address/code/etc., on a paper presentation or card that would allow people meeting to make a bitcoin donation?

Thanks!

You could use the site http://bitcoinqrcode.org/ to generate QR code for your addresses very easily.
The service has been there for 8 months and there are a number of people reporting it works perfectly in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=392212.0
226  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FAUCET on: August 02, 2014, 01:53:11 PM
Even for the best paying faucets, you can only get at most a few cents an hour from them, and so you really shouldn't spend any time on them.
227  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would faucets be worth it if you thought Bitcoin will reach $1-10 million? on: August 02, 2014, 01:31:58 PM
Hitting the faucet takes less than a second.  Sure, I can only go to freebitco.in once an hour, but I've spent a total of 2 mouse clicks of time in that hour.  How many faucets are there?  I really don't know the answer to that question, so I'm hoping someone can give a number.  Is there only 1?  Are there 10?  100?  Let's just say there are 10.  Now, I'm making 3000 Satoshi for about 10 seconds of my time per hour.

I'm pretty sure I can spare 10 seconds an hour... heck, I could even do that while wandering around collecting cans after I finished my shift at McDonalds Tongue.

I don't think you can complete the whole process (going to freebitco.in, login your account, enter the captcha) in just a second.
It probably takes you like 10-20 seconds for just 1 site.

While there are dozens of faucets out there, most of them pays just a fraction of 100 satoshi per claim.

You would probably be scolded by the McDonalds manager for stop working 5 minutes every hour. Smiley
228  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: At what point (hash) is solo mining viable? on: August 02, 2014, 01:25:18 PM
I recognise you are trying to explain that variance in return is less with pooled mining or higher hashrate, but this is meaningful only because humans think that way because of our weird broken minds. That is, a lower variance in return, and especially a more-frequent payout, feels like it is worth more to humans just because we all know we might get hit by a bus tomorrow.

Indeed, I believe a big proportion of people are indeed risk-seeking (enjoys taking risk).
Just see how many people go to Vegas or gambling sites to play those negative EV games.
229  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HEY ! - Love them Altcoins and Bitcoin on: August 02, 2014, 01:20:10 PM
HEY ! IM NEW HERE. I JUST WANTED TO SAY .. I LOVE ALTCOINS AND BITCOIN !! enough caps . Yes im new here and wanted to say hi. I especially like altcoins and want to do something entrepreneurial soon !

I read in some websites that some people can earn enough to live by trading altcoins, this is my ultimate goal!

one day you'll encounter a bad streak and lose most of what of you have

trading shouldn't be the thing you would rely on, it should only be extra income

Trading is extremely risky.
According to https://poloniex.com/exchange (sorting the trade pairs by "change"), there are 8 altcoins growing more than 40% value in a day and 10 altcoins losing more than 25% value in a day.

If you really want to try trading, please do it in a small scale first.

That's actually not bad. If you manage to make 40% in a day, the 25% loss is written-off. Plus, with enough research, you can put the odds in your favour.

But there is also some coin that could drop more than 97% in just 24 hours Wink

230  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: August 02, 2014, 01:09:28 PM
Forget the $1m & $100,000 predictions, what's everyone's opinion on when bitcoin will hit $10,000?

It depends on how soon those huge companies start accepting bitcoin and bitcoin becomes a standard way of payment from viewpoints of the average Joe.
231  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: August 02, 2014, 01:03:56 PM
Have you seen the today's rally?
Honestly I don't know if it's the long awaited new beginning but if the value will continue
to rise in the next few days, I think that we won't see $600 for a looong time.

Guess we still need more time to see the next rally. The price is still just going up and down around $590.
232  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Proof of ... systems in mine. on: August 02, 2014, 12:59:53 PM
Tell me about benefits and flaws of diffrent proof of systems in rather mine tech (Hardware, CPU, GPU):
1) PoW
2) PoS
3) PoB
4) PoI

There is no mining in all those pure PoS and PoB setting. Indeed, they were created to remove the hashing process.
233  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: any advice on: August 02, 2014, 12:14:38 PM
So any advice from anyone on how i can earn .3 to .5 btc. Im not asking for a loan, since i have no collateral. Im pretty new to bitcoins and in a race against time. If anyone could kindly recommend a way i can earn that much bitcoins in 7 hours would be greatly appreciated. And no its too early to stand at a corner and i doubt they have nfc compatible phones to pay.

I am afraid you can't earn 0.3 btc within 7 hours, without any special skills or products to sell...

If you need the bitcoin quick and you have the fiat money to buy that, you can go to localbitcoins to get a trade with cash or bank transfer.
234  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: any advice on: August 02, 2014, 12:09:51 PM
Are personal assets like electronics. Acceptable forms of collateral? If they are would the lender have to wait til they receive the item before giving the.loan?

Those are not a good form of collateral, as the shipping costs back and forth would probably be more than the loan itself.
235  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need simple advice on bitcoin on: August 02, 2014, 11:56:43 AM
I've done quite a bit of research on bitcoin currency, I have a i7 laptop and i7 gaming pc. What miner would anyone recommend me and how long does it take to get $4 or over? I started using "bitcoinplus" noticing the payout is only "0.00000001 BTC". If anyone can give me advice it would be very helpful.

You shouldn't mine bitcoin directly with you pc and laptop.
Try mining CryptoNight coins and X11/X13 coins with your CPU and GPU, and trade them for bitcoin.

Be extra careful with your laptop as it can be overheated very easily.
236  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin/Litecoin Mining Hardware Investment on: August 02, 2014, 11:52:56 AM
Hey Everyone!

Total newbie here.  I've been checking out the forums and I still have a few questions.  I've read that bitcoin/litecoin mining on laptops is a completely stupid move.  That being said, if I invested in some bitcoin or litecoin mining hardware & ran it on my laptop would it still destroy my computer?  If so, why?  Does it have to do with how much power my laptop can generate or its basic internal graphics card?

Likewise, would it be wiser to invest in litecoin mining hardware considering that I am getting into the Bitcoin market so late?  (not that I'm diving into the Litecoin market at any better time)

Thanks!

Do you have cheap electricity? If not, you may not get a profit from buying those ASIC (sha256 or scrypt), and you should simply buy some bitcoin IMO.

239  Other / Meta / Re: Search results WTF? on: August 02, 2014, 11:23:57 AM
The search function here doesn't work very good to be honest, and I usually use the bitcointa.lk search or google search instead.
240  Other / Meta / Re: Why we lost post after wrote when we dont wait 360 sec after before post ????? on: August 02, 2014, 11:20:20 AM
I wrote post many words and when click "post" I saw info about 360 sec after my last post its annoing I think to avoid spam BUT WHY I LOST I WROTE !!!!
I want back to post and copy it and wait remaing time but f****g impposible ALL GONE what I wrote.
I have this issue few times its very annoing and bug or make something with this shit I cant remember each time I write post to copy text before I click "post" !!!

Your post should be automatically saved in the drafts page (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=drafts).
AFAIK, a draft is saved whenever you click the "preview" button and "post" button (even when it doesn't go through due to the posting limit).
