Really doubt it, if it doesn't continue to grow merchants will probably not continue to accept btc, and naturally its use as a currency will decline.

The only thing that matters here is that none of the banksters are going to prison for extended amounts of time, let alone any time at all. Are any of these guys going to be forgoing salaries and compensation for the next 6 years to make up for it or any multi-million dollar fines being levied against everyone in management each? The answer to all is Nope.
Nope, the cost will be passed on to those who take out mortgages, student loans etc through them. It just business as usual for the banks!

Whoever makes an equivalent site may take a huge market share away from Ebay once Ebay wakes up and decides to be a part of the Bitcoin movement.
Its going to take a big site to take away any of eBay's market share though. And once they see it happening, they could squash the competition pretty easily, buy them out, OR start taking BTC. I know the CEO of PayPal has mentioned it several times in interviews. I think its def. on their radar

Things like this make me sick. There's so many better ways to spend $50m.
Right? Like sending Michelle O on a shopping trip to Paris! Gotta love how our tax dollars are spent so wisely!

Most people satisfy rather than optimize. If the water is fine here, why should I swim over there? All the positive news is great preparation, but the next bubble won't happen without a kick -- some negative news in the fiat world -- that drives people to switch.
This ^ The next time the world has a financial crisis, Bitcoin and other cryptos will soar to the heavens as central banks around the world print to oblivion. I think we are in financial crisis. US debt is set to climb higher than 20 trillion and is not stopping. Not to mention argentina, spain, etc. Its just not being acknowledged by everyone, its almost being kept quiet by the media under reporting. I also remember a few months back a bunch of banker "suicides" that seemed awfully similar in manner and time frame. Makes you wonder what is going on behind the scenes?

Revolution only happen when people are hungry. American are still fat and happy.
And getting poorer every day. But it will take years for them to really get poor America will only be poor when half of the world won't be dreaming to get a visa to get into the us. As criminal as the us govt is, I dont see them allowing people to be hungry. They know they can keep people at a level just "fat and happy" enough, and it works. People only have political opinions during election times, then they go back to their iphones and sports. I agree, any "revolution" does not appear to be in the works, although more people are becoming aware of the criminal nature of the us govt

My problem is that Obama claims the "science is settled" on global warming when it clearly is not. I dont think there is any conclusive evidence humans are causing "climate change" and that we are not just in a cyclical "warm period"
I don't agree that it's settled, but the general consensus seems to be that it is happening. I have access to a couple of decent journals re: climate change, and although I don't understand all the details, nearly all papers that I've read seem to back the theory. Even without 100% conclusive evidence, I don't see many drawbacks to just assuming that we are causing climate change, and trying to switch to renewable and nuclear energy. I agree, the problem traces back again, to corrupt govt. See the article on the $535 million O gave to Solyndra, which of course failed so basically the money was given to his donors and supporters. The govt is not trying to actually get us off fossil fuels, only trying to create the illusion that they are. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/specialreports/solyndra-scandal/The same thing with adding 10% ethanol to gas. It burns less efficiently, and actually uses more gas to produce it, making it energy inefficient, not to mention it drives food prices up. Yet its another illusion to make people think the govt is trying to help

I'd have to agree, but with the way things are going, it could be like the internet is today, within a year or 2. Better educational material and easier ways to acquire BTC would help things, as most people I know wouldn't have the technological knowhow to buy BTC.

Only $50 million? That seems low for how the current administration likes to spend!

Will bots (or whales) allow the price to rise substantially? It seems like they can make enought money just by knowing when to get in or out, not necessarily by holding

"May be losing the war on marijuana politics?" I think they lost it a long time ago. The only thing their "war on drugs" does is guarantee that drug money gets into the hands of criminals, instead of taxing marijuana, creating jobs and getting the money out of the hands of the murderous drug cartels.

Yes, unfortunately I don't think there is any way around it. Tons of economists have been calling a worldwide crash in the near future, its been happening already, although in slow motion. One country then another. And when the banks start confiscating (stealing) money out of US bank accounts or declare a "bank holiday", it will probably be too late to get your money out.

Good advice, its tough sometimes if you look at the price everyday. But I think the long term mindset is what has proven to be the best so far. People this this guy are very good news for btc.

Wow this could be great. I've wondered how much money from Japan has been put into Bitcoin, seems like they naturally would be interested being a very technologically advanced country. But, him saying "sooner or later" doesn't exactly sound like he's in a hurry to start accepting Bitcoin.

Last year it went from 200 to over 1000 in the last quarter off the year. Why couldn't we go from 600 to 2000 in the last quarter off this year? These investors probably know things we don't know about money coming in.
