They're supporting their desire to seize power. And no one's actually running BU.
They may be hungry but they ain't stupid. They'd signal an implementation that did nothing but make a farting noise if it got them power.
I am going to hodl from now on guys. Cant predict this price anymore. BU is screwing my mathematical calculations all over today. Rip trading, it was fun while it lasted. Huge profits but also huge losts like today. Now i only have my good old cold storage. I will dump more fiat money in it and keep hodling. Rip easy trade days.  Yes for the haters: i got rekt today like you hodlers get rekt earlier this month. But i have to go trough all the stress and switching to shitty altcoins and fiat like some crazy idiot. And for what... And a new hodler was born. It really hurts. I increased my stash so many times i felt like a pro. And now BOOOM! All trading stash destroyed by 1 mistake, nice. Hodling for ever is the only right choice. This means that i will become just as sassy and sarcastic like you guys? Its part of the hodling process i guess. Smeagol was also hodling his precious ring and look how he turned into shit haha  I don't get it, how can you lose your full trading stash from a 10% eth/btc move ? I put all my btc into ethereum on march 26, switched to btc because ethereum was going down and btc was going up. After i done that, btc was going down and ethereum was goin up. They are move divergential. So i switched to ethereum again. After that ethereum was going down, btc too, but ethereum faster. So i paniced and went full retart and switched to fiat after almost 1 month. So i was is fiat, btc dumped like expected BUT that stupid Ether was going up like i mentioned. They are moving divergential. A negative correlation. So my plan could have worked but i expected Ether to crash anytime soon because Bitcoin is amost bottomed-out. They were just driving me crazy and i lost controll. 2 rules of trading; stay calm and be pacient. I wasnt because i knew the altcoin party is almost over and btc dump was almost finished too. I was too greedy and inpacient. I bought 230 ether on february, and dumped them at the same price because nothing happened and bitcoin continued to go up. After i did that Ether increased with 400% so i lost that oppurtunity too because i dont have the pacience. Its the best to stay away and stop with trading for ever for me. There is just that one moment when you finally lose your controll and pacience and start making stupid moves. So i will build my cold stash (trying to increase it with 250%) with my fiat money. Ahh, I see what your problem is: It's impossible to trade an asset if you know that it is essentially crap. You should try to find trading pairs, which you are comfortable to hold to, even at a temporary loss. This worked for me in the past with Blackcoin and Monero. |

I have this crazy perspective about the Core vs. Unlimited BTC. The miners saying that their BTU will be the winner is a lot of wishfull thinking IMO. Just because they process the blocks they now somehow own the system??? They're hired help. That's why they get paid to do their job.
If we get the fork with two competing currencies, which one will be the winner? The market will decide, sure. Specifically the buyers. People giving their $$$ in exchange for BTC, not the miners. They really should take a step back and figure out they're not the bosses and they can get fired if they go too far...
By activating SegWit and allowing layer2 solutions to be deployed, Bitcoin would soar in price due to higher utility and higher transaction throughput causing a stronger network effect - therefore increasing the mining revenue. I am curious if this drama is really financially profitable for this mining company. |

Although i'm involved in BTC for a year now, I'm quite a newbie.
Therefore my question might sound a little bit naive, but anyway:
Why is the price of BTC still rising, despite the threat of a hardfork & the heavy FUD/panic selling associated with this ?
Some influential people in the Bitcoin-Universe even seem to be excited about BU, because they think it's a good move to get rid of the bad elements.
Because it is the same story like back in August 2015. Just with different actors. Of course it is strong enough to shake the new weak hands, who entered Bitcoin at some point of its more than a year long bull-trend and never experienced strong FUD. It is also working for long-time holder like Dafar, who are now too much financially invested in Bitcoin, due to the price rise, to keep a clear head. But on the other hand, it might also be a good idea to play it safe. I was buying the dip at 950$. Definitely feel terrible for selling... im sorry bitcoin  Dafar, you are currently too emotional when it comes to Bitcoin. Don't buy back at a loss. The price could easily swing back down to retest the 950$ bottom. Don't let the hardfork FUD impact you that much, it is the same story like it was in august 2015, when the price crashed from 270$ down to 170$(at Bitfinex). What I learned from that is: hardfork FUD is always a great buying opportunity. I managed to catch the dip at 950$ and increased my trading stash by 25%. Now I am again at 15% profit. All coins are now back in cold storage, riding the swings for the next 12 months until they are taxfree again. Obviously I was just lucky and I have no idea what I am doing.  @Shannen Just compare it to the situation from the 7th august.2016. At that time the scaling debate was under full force and many expected a hard fork zu happen, the uncertainity+fear+fud lead to a low price.
