41  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTS: 6 Bitcoins on: August 11, 2013, 04:51:52 PM
May need a fall back plan. It looks like this deal with Vanc3Spencer7 may fall through. Anyone interested?  Coins are already in escrow with John.
42  Economy / Goods / WTB: 3rd Gen Tacoma 4x4 in Cali on: August 08, 2013, 10:49:43 PM
Looking to buy a Tacoma. Hoping to get a good price on something with less than 100k miles.  4cyl or 6cyl engines are both acceptable.  Must be at least the extra cab but preferably the double cab.  Let me know what you got.  Payment would be in cash and bitcoin or I can convert the USD to bitcoin but that would take additional time.

45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: switched my 5870 to litecoin mining but extremely high temps on: July 26, 2013, 11:51:40 PM
Thanks conspirosphere.tk

Would replacing the stock thermal paste with something like AS5 be worth the trouble?  Would that help the crappy cooling design any?
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: switched my 5870 to litecoin mining but extremely high temps on: July 26, 2013, 09:29:56 PM
Yea, I only let it run for a few minutes before I shut it off since I didn't want to damage it.  I'm leaving it off until I can correct this issue.  Something tells me it's beyond adding a desk fan, but we'll see.  It is a one fan reference model.

That's weird because I thought XFX was preferred among bitcoin miners.  This always ran very well for that purpose as well as gaming.  I actually just retired this card from my gaming rig for an upgraded card.  Was hoping to recoup the costs of the new card via mining with the old one.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: switched my 5870 to litecoin mining but extremely high temps on: July 26, 2013, 07:56:05 PM
It is an XFX reference style card.  I will try putting a house hold fan blowing on it since maybe the case does not get enough airflow.  I still think that's way too hot for 5 minutes of mining.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / switched my 5870 to litecoin mining but extremely high temps on: July 26, 2013, 07:36:19 PM
I came across an extra computer with a PCIe slot.  I leave the side off and installed a 500 watt 80+ bronze PSU.
I noticed the temps climbing rather high so I crank the fan to 100%.  The temperature still rose to damn near 100c.  what the heck?  I never had a problem like that mining bitcoins.  Although i did turn down the memory freq and voltage.  I still don't see how it's rising 30+ degrees over mining bitcoins (70c).  Can anyone provide some insight?
49  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Question about powering BFL Single SC on: July 18, 2013, 04:12:33 PM
yea... not trying to bash them but I wasn't exactly thrilled with BFL's response to the situation.  I was told I need to "get a new PSU or ship us the bad one and wait a really long time because we are currently shipping without power supplies. sorry."

I already ordered the new PSU which was probably $20 more than it would have cost me to ship this monster back to BFL (even if they could replace it in a reasonable time).
50  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Rasberry PI Minepeon(How many days mining uninterrupted) on: July 18, 2013, 06:27:37 AM
just bought a rosewill 7 port hub off newegg for 17

will see how it holds up with my single sc.  do I even need it for the single since it's not powered by usb? I would love to ditch it if possible.

Nope, you can just plug it directly into the Pi.

Neil

now that's customer support Wink

I will have to send you a tip once I begin using the distro (without issue, of course)

I'm still waiting for some psu issues to be worked out and the usb hub

currently its hosted on a pc

52  Bitcoin / Mining support / Question about powering BFL Single SC on: July 18, 2013, 06:11:28 AM
So the power supply that was included burned out after only a few days of mining.  I have it running on another PSU for the mean time.  However, I just ordered this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139049&Tpk=cx430m&IsVirtualParent=1

I received it today and unfortunately I didn't realize it only had one PCIe connector instead of two.  Not a big deal but I was going for cleanliness which is why I opted for the modular model.  My question is this:

Can I use something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812198018 to split the one PCIe connector into two?  Would that be shorting it on power or anything like that?  Or would I be better of using an additional cable with a 4 pin to 6pin PCIe adapter? Would it even matter?

Thanks in advance
53  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: July 17, 2013, 12:05:06 AM
I have less than $3k in my account.  Much less actually.

When I try to withdraw I receive "Internal server error"

has this been addressed yet?  I've emailed support twice.  Once a week ago (after waiting several days to see if the problem went away) and once more today.
54  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB: Laptop on: July 16, 2013, 12:26:07 AM
I am in the process of replacing the LCD on a Dell Inspiron 1520.  Just ordered the screen if you don't mind waiting a few days.  I'd be willing to make a reasonable deal.
55  Economy / Services / FEELER: Water damaged electronics repair service. on: July 09, 2013, 08:21:00 PM
For the last 7+ years I have been fixing cell phones and other small electronic devices such as iPod's and other mp3 players.  I am looking at purchasing the professional equipment needed to perform the cleaning of PCB's and sensitive electronics in order to fix water damage and corrosion.  I am just curious if there is any interested in the bitcoin market.  I would probably charge around ~$45 or the BTC equivalent for the service and that would likely include the return shipping.  I am in the USA.  If you would be so kind as to reply and let me know if you think this is a service you would use or not, I would greatly appreciate it.
