1  Economy / Collectibles / Re: WTS: 2013 Casascius .999 Troy ounce 1BTC funded. on: December 10, 2016, 08:46:47 PM
Awesome! Thanks for the replies.

To my knowledge it's never been touched.  It's in a plastic case and always has been.  I've taken it apart just to look at it but never touched it.  The case probably has some scratches from floating around my safe though.

How does one go about getting something graded?  I may be interested in doing that.

Looks like someone moved it for me.  Thanks for the suggestion though Smiley

How can I determine the value of this coin?  I am thinking about selling it but I'm not sure what it's worth.  Huh

Any help would be appreciated.
4  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Would you accept 1TH of Monarchs for $850 on: August 28, 2014, 03:45:19 PM
So they corrected their error in their next email.  They didn't account for my 25% voucher.

It turns out no matter what option I choose I lose the 25% discount.  What kind of shit show is this?
They also said I only get 600GH of cloud hashing.

I have free power but I will still be taking the full refund and investing in another company.

I have multiple BFL products that are still running solid since receiving but, at this point I have lost my faith entirely.
5  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Would you accept 1TH of Monarchs for $850 on: August 27, 2014, 10:14:07 PM
Because I will otherwise lose my 25% voucher, I am enticed to take this offer and receive a refund for the rest of my money.

$850 for 2 monarchs is enticing.  Plus I will activate my cloud hashing so it is instantly online.

What do you think?  Ever make a ROI?  Or just opt for a full refund?
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SFSU Bitcoin Org. - Fundraising on: March 11, 2014, 08:14:36 PM
What?  No… I just passed these flyers out next week and have a solid group of about 20 people who are joining.  We are holding our first meeting next week, trying to do some honest fundraising with the utmost integrity here.

7  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: MSI 990FXA-GD80 & SMOS linux - network issues on: March 08, 2014, 08:32:35 AM
right now if i boot into window with a 290 and a 280x the 280x shows up as a generic vga in device manager

i manually install driver and it says successfully updated to r9 200 series

i got to device manager and it shows r9 200 series (my 290 which works great)
and the 280x shows up as a hd 7900 series and causes all sorts of crashes

i think i might need a fresh install of windows.  will try tomorrow

That is exactly what I ended up doing after digging a little deeper.
The correct package on that page (for anyone who might need this in the future) is LINUX driver for kernel 3.x and 2.6.x and 2.4.x

I'm running bamt 1.3 but first you must do this...

Quote
you need to blacklist the old module. try this:

Code: [Select]
echo "blacklist r8169" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

taken from https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=2924.msg75706#msg75706

works like a charm now.  for some reason windows would become unstable with my second card and smos has been pretty good to me so far.

(great now I have to register there just to say thanks)  Tongue

Can you tell me what kind of temperatures you're able to maintain?
10  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: MSI 990FXA-GD80 & SMOS linux - network issues on: March 07, 2014, 10:57:14 PM
I tried a new NIC.  The only one I could find which was PCI.  It worked for a while and then seemed to cause stability issues with the motherboard.  The thing is literally ancient so no surprise there.  It did work well for the time though which leads me to believe that it's just a compability issue with the built in NIC.  I can mine in windows 7 fine.  Haven't tried other linux distros yet because I like the simplicity of smos and the historical charts it gives.

thanks for the link I haven't gone through those troubleshooting steps yet and have something to try when I get home tonight!
11  Bitcoin / Mining support / SMOS network issue on: March 07, 2014, 01:17:17 AM
I am trying to run a single 7950 on a 990FXA-GD80 based miner.
I can boot into SMOS linux just fine but the network is intermittent.
Running a simple ping of google.com or 8.8.8.8 shows that the network works fine for a little while and then stops working.  It then resumes working and then stops working.  repeatedly.

I would love any insight into what could be causing this issue.  Is it likely to be a motherboard firmware issue?

15  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] - 7x RADEON R9 290X on: March 04, 2014, 10:00:18 PM
I'm confused.  The product you linked to is an R9 290 not R9 290X

Can they be powered by a standard ATX PSU using a 12v lead?

If I buy a stand alone single unit or two, is there anything else I will be needing?

Does a standard USB port/wall adapter power these?

It can only do SHA-256 with the controller?  or is that going to be fixed soon so that units without the controller can do SHA-256 as well?

Hello there friend.

Was wondering what the lowest you would accept for the 3 7950's with low fan speed.

20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why didn't MtGox halt trading like they've done in the past? on: February 20, 2014, 09:40:05 PM
becase this time the "karp of gox street" needs to buy some cheap coins to arbitrage while everyone else has to sit around and watch him get fatter.

This is the main theory still? Is there actual proof that mtgox lost coins to transaction malleability?  Or did they lose them some other way?

I'm trying to be objective in this thread.  All my questions are genuine.  I try to keep abreast the best I can but there's simply too much information (and misinformation) spread all over the forum and web.  I stay pretty busy so it can be a little challenging to stay up to date.  Currently I have quite a bit tied up in gox.

My understanding is Gox came under fire when they blamed the developers and the developers blamed gox.
Then the developers admitted that Gox makes a case, but that their code is still out of date?
This way other exchanges were able to protect themselves and implement fixes?
But because mtgox code was so old/complex/etc it's taking them more time?
Did mtgox help prevent damage on other exchanges/services?  Is it at all likely they are trying their best to resolve the issue?
