Welp, taking a vacation from cash trading since kraken is unusable. Withdrew all assets. Damn shame for everyone involved, but there we are.
I'm totally fucked at Coinbase. Sitting on an obscene amount of fiat from a recent sale, but don't have access to my Funding/Withdrawal page. Something 'tarded like below is what I'm getting. Sheeeeeeit. This a time delay exploit that the whales traders will be able to use again and again. They will shake people out, and while their fiat cash out is trapped in limbo, the whales will be able to move the market back up and fiat sitting in limbo won't be able to get back in. Fortunately Coinbase is not that big of a player compared to the global trading volume

and we dont know who have been pumping bitcoin recently. It could be hedge funds who are going to sell contracts in CME, and we dont know if the banksters who are against bitcoin will be their clients or not.
I think this was more or less settled (Koreans) ? Unless bankers and CME shorters would use the KRW markets with 2-4k premiums...

What I find odd in all these confiscation stories is the password protection of confiscated bitcoins. I mean ok, the authorities might have access to a wallet.dat which says it has XXXX bitcoins in it, but from there to actually accessing the funds is quite some distance away - assuming there is a wallet key protecting the funds.
That's why I'm assuming that most authorities' "confiscations" do not necessarily translate to getting access to those coins.
But dont they interrogate the guys who are arrested? And they have to give the password? Why?

In such cases of confiscating bitcoins, the effect on the market is actually the opposite of what is described or implied (dumping): More btc removed from circulation as no-one has access to it (not the criminals who know the password but don't have the wallet, nor the government who has the wallet but doesn't know the password).

Why there is only an asm version of the fe_mul and not of the fe_add too?
From what I've seen in profiling, fe_add is rarely the bottleneck, so probably that's the reason. It's too small. It should also be able to compile depending the available hardware and get sse/avx speedup by doing multiple adds per instruction. I'd like to know besides if someone know if it is possible to exploit avx instructions to speedup operations with 64 bit representation.
The main issue with avx is the lack of 128 bit multiplication and 128 bit addition. That's not a problem though for the 32 bit field because there are 64 bit muls/adds (which can be handled). In theory you could do up to 8/16 32bit field results in parallel on the same thread with avx2/512 - and go much faster than the 64 bit, but that requires rewrite of all peripheral code because you need to feed it multiple "a" and "b" to get multiple "r" - which of course have to be used by other functions beyond mul/sqr, etc - which would also need to work in a stream-like fashion that deal with multiple inputs/outputs instead of one. (My focus has been on using avx2/512 on a single 32-bit field result (one a, one b, one r) to get it faster, which avoids the rewrite part - and since the code after the multiplications and additions is more sequential it fails to produce much of a speedup. However proper speedup of avx2/512 is dependent on using multiple "streams" of inputs and outputs).

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ever dreamed about Bitcoin?

Back from '14 and my 18k USD dream (came true yesterday in terms of price, albeit 11 months off in terms of date - which is a half-failed prediction): I've actually dreamed of btc and darkcoin (back in the DRK days, not as DASH). BTC I've had only one dream: Price prediction based on a dream: 18.000$ in 2016. Posted for future reference What model is this based on? I would sell 10% at that point All you need to hit a right prediction is to make many of them at random. Then, once one hit, you point to it and say-aha! This is the method that many economists are using or so it seems... As I said, it is info from a dream. In the dream I was having a conversation with someone (the sense was that he was quite knowledgeable) and apparently I was asking him about future bitcoin price. The answer he gave me was $18.000 / 2016. Whether it is true or not, we'll have to wait and see. That would exceed 250bn usd in marketcap which I find hard, but then again, it's still a marketcap lower than some companies. Darkcoin was trading related, I actually saw exact prices of pumps and dumps. I had success more often than not. The recipe for dreaming such stuff comprises of 3 ingredients 1) Obsession or too-many-hours dealing with something in daytime 2) Thinking about the same thing before going to sleep 3) Being able to suspend one's ego-facade. It seems to interfere with intuition. ...now around September this year (2017) I saw a new BTC-related dream: 63k ...no date given. In the dream I was looking at the price on my screen. I also have the impression from the dream, that price first went to 0, then to 63k. Now zero is impossible (with 0.01$ you can buy all bitcoins? lol) so it seems absurd as a notion so when I woke up I interpreted it as something fork-related... (the s2x was still looming back then). Yet that didn't even materialize, so... who knows.... we'll see.

I dont like the idea we are profiting from the North Korean economy.
South Korean... same economy buying F-15s, F-16s and F-35s from Uncle Sam... and exporting Samsung chips and products all over the world South Korea is a technologically advanced developed country driven by a highly educated and skilled workforce, having the world's eighth highest median household income, the highest in Asia.[44] Globally, it ranks highly in personal safety, job security, ease of doing business and healthcare quality, with the world's third highest health adjusted life expectancy and fourth most efficient healthcare system.[45] It is the world's largest spender on R&D per GDP, leading the OECD in graduates in science and engineering[46] and ranking third in the Youth Wellbeing Index.[47] Home of Samsung, LG and Hyundai-Kia, South Korea was named the world's most innovative country for 4 consecutive years since 2014 in the Bloomberg Innovation Index,[48] ranking first in business R&D intensity, manufacturing value-added, patents filed per GDP, second in higher education efficiency and fourth in high-tech density and researcher concentration.[49] In 2005, it became the world's first country to fully transition to high-speed Internet[50] and today it has the world's fastest Internet speed and highest smartphone ownership, ranking first in ICT Development, e-Government[51] and 4G LTE coverage. South Korea currently provides the world's second largest number of Christian missionaries, surpassed by the United States.[52]
