2201  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Domain for Sale on: June 25, 2011, 10:07:35 PM
People think that a domain name with the word "bit" in it is actually valuable. What relevance does the "double" have to ANYTHING?

If you looked in the market place and saw all the double games, you'd see....

I was thinking to make an automated one and had got the domain, but since decided not to.
2202  Economy / Marketplace / Re: STOP MAKING THE SAME GAMES OVER AND OVER!!!!! on: June 25, 2011, 10:06:09 PM
I'm just saying, I noticed your mini-games of the same style popped up right before the increase in spam of these sorts of games...

lol.... I'm pretty sure I started it (not 100% positive).  I had started up a game a little over a week ago because I saw a thread for a dead one the night before, with someone asking if there would be another.  So the next day (when I hadn't seen another double trouble started) I started mine up.

I have two right now, just going to let them run out (according to the rules in each) then laugh at all the spam of games.

That said: I agree that running bitcoind sounds like what you want to do. The question is: what is that good for if you don't make transactions with it and don't mine? [...]

Question for others: is there a need for such "traffic nodes" or is the network suitably interconnected?

[...]

iamnot said that he wanted to run it headlessly on a server to contribute to the network. So my question still stands: is there a need for more "network only" node? Of course it can't hurt, but does it help others?

Didn't even read the whole part... just the first sentence.  It doesn't hurt or help the network to run it and do nothing with it.  Not too much of a point if it's just sitting there.
2204  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you run the linux client in console only mode - i.e. no gui? on: June 25, 2011, 07:33:01 PM
Disclaimer: I am new to BitCoins, so I am somewhat shooting from the hip here.

That said: I agree that running bitcoind sounds like what you want to do. The question is: what is that good for if you don't make transactions with it and don't mine? Isn't this a little bit like opening a new pool (without the user accounts and the profit distribution): you provide the P2P infrastructure, but don't actually use it yourself or do any work yourself?

Question for others: is there a need for such "traffic nodes" or is the network suitably interconnected?

You can still do everything you can with the GUI, you just have to do it through console commands.

To the OP:
Find the directory where you have bitcoin.... then /bin/(32 or 64)/ and there should be bitcoind in there.  I believe the command you want is './bitcoind &' and you'll be able to run console commands by typing 'bitcoind _____'.  I'd suggest starting with 'bitcoind help' to get the list of commands.

If this helped and you're feeling generous, feel free to send a donation my way (address below).

Come on, you know you want a sweet domain name like this!

Willing to consider any offer, I'd prefer BTC but would also do USD or trade.
2207  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WTB 10 BTC via Amazon Gift Card on: June 25, 2011, 02:45:48 PM
The offer seems to be a little low, current trading is around $17 per BTC.
2208  Other / Meta / Re: Gambling Subforum? on: June 25, 2011, 01:31:24 PM
Looking through the Marketplace section again, we really do need a games/gambling subforum somewhere...

2214  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Gaming posts on: June 24, 2011, 11:47:31 PM
Wrong section for this request.... but I already did start a threat requesting a gaming section in the forum meta section.  Go bump that or something.
2215  Other / Meta / Re: New Forum for "Bitcoin Gaming" on: June 24, 2011, 07:01:19 PM
See this thread, I had the same idea a few days ago  Tongue
2216  Other / Meta / Re: Gambling Subforum? on: June 24, 2011, 07:00:02 PM
Now some mods/admins need to see this so it can be put in place...
2217  Economy / Marketplace / Re: 2.25X Double Trouble W/ +Bonus! [FRESH ROUND STARTED] LIVE! on: June 24, 2011, 06:36:30 PM
Still plenty of time left, keep those entries coming!
2218  Economy / Marketplace / Re: All these games are awesome. This changes the world! on: June 24, 2011, 02:20:40 PM
I like the games here. They are often honestly transparent, and the operators don't take much off the top – 1-3% is not much compared to what's kept by the bank in in traditional gambling.

But, I agree with the point that they are crowding the marketplace board.

Post something in this thread that I created a few days ago.  Gotta get interest shown in it so we can get a gambling subforum.
2219  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Is this what this forum has become? on: June 24, 2011, 02:19:13 PM
+1 A seperate section would make wading through the marketplace much easier.

Check out this thread I created a few days ago.  Might be able to get one created if enough interest is shown in it.
2220  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Is this what this forum has become? on: June 24, 2011, 12:14:39 PM
I feel responsible for every single 'double trouble' type thread in here.... I started one back up about a week ago because the guy who did it originally had left.  Every time I look at this subforum I feel like I've created a monster.
