I'd be willing to do it, but what guarantee do I have that you will actually have the money and pay for them in December?

I think you need a better way to display games/odds than massive posts here. Maybe get a website or make a spreadsheet?

weren't you just bashing on gambling type games on here and now you making a lotto? lol
Not really bashing, just playing devil's advocate... and hating on how some are setup/run/etc.

I don't know, I just wanted to promote the link :p
This is the kind of thing that just makes any gambling thing seem worse...

Playing devil's advocate... How is this site any different? The guy who made it could have put in a lot of the initial entries.

I'm fine with the gambling section, however even the language specific forums get pestered by some "intelligent people" that put their text in Google translate and advertise their ponzi games there. This should be a bannable offense imho. I completely agree with you on this point.

Ooops. I didn't see this till I posted Lucky Hex. I should have talked to you first! I'd probably run it at a little higher entry fee, depending on the feedback I get.... so not a big deal. That also means if anyone is interested, let me know what you want from this. I'm only going to actually do this if people give some feedback as to what kind of lottery they want.

as a newcomer to the bitcoin community there is a huge amount of 'junk' to sift through on the forums..... most all those games just add to it.
That's why there's a gambling subforum for it now.

Your argument makes no sense at all. There are lots of places you can buy goods/services with bitcoins.
Well, mine is not an argument at all. It is just a suggestion to have all merchants in one place. Easy for bitcoin's fans to find and spend they btc to give a boost to bts economy. Sorry if I did not made it clear in the first place. But most of them are all in one place? The wiki has a lot of places that accept BTC as payment. Do you need a list of all merchants that accept USD as payment too?

Loosing in an openly ponzi/pyramid scheme game should at least earn you the rank of nominee to the Darwin Awards...
But poor people tend to have more kids... so wouldn't that be the exact opposite of the point of the Darwin Awards? Also, I think you meant losing not loosing. Saw in your profile that you're in Brazil so I'm assuming ESL.

Is there any place on the web where all merchants accepting BTC as a form of payment can actually be found and maybe advertise their offers there ? Aside from https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Trade , of course. Thanks. So aside from the hundreds of listed places you need some more?

So I'm trying to figure out if the idea of a mini lottery is interesting to people here. It'd be along the lines of some other posts I've seen here where it's anywhere from 5-10 people per "round".
Here's my plan for how it would work: 1 - I'll get a random number from random.org ranging from 1-(number of players per round). 2 - A hash will be posted that is made from number + salt. 3 - The hash is posted before entries into the round. 4 - I'll pull the order of the entries from however blockexplorer shows them, so it's also kind of random if two come in the same block. 5 - Once enough entries for the round have been put in I release what number it was, and the salt I used to make the hash. This ensures that I am not changing results.
For running it I'd take a few % cut, don't know exactly yet... but it would not be a big one.
Please post your feedback, let me know if the bitcoin gambling community would like this.

A good read is The Game. It is kind of weird, but also has good information in it. Plus it's definitely interesting.

502 Bad Gateway
Someone needs to teach that gateway a lesson.
Maybe we can put it in the corner for timeout?

What happens if someone presses "send coins" at the exact time the new round begins but due to slow network the money arrives only after the round has ended (e. g. 1 hour and 8 min. later)? I believe the entry is processed as soon as mybitcoin sees the transaction come across (doesn't wait for confirmations).... so it shouldn't ever be an issue unless you try to send while not connected to the network.
