561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | 2FA | HD | @Bittrex on: December 05, 2016, 10:29:50 PM
Did the client itself get a 2FA or it was embedded into web-interface?

I think it's in the client. No web interface that I'm aware of.

Can somebody explain why in tab where it shows
Staking is says: your weight 0, network weight 0.

Also my staked vtrs it shows on overview tab
But it is not calculating in general ammount.
It says: generated but not accepted.

Why is that? It means i minned them but they not
Accepted. Crazy. How to fix the issue? Anything to do in debug
Window console?

Q. Have you enabled staking?

Settings > Options > Enable Staking

Q. If staking is enabled, have you secured your client?

If yes, you need to partially unlock your client for staking.

Price nearly doubled in a few minutes - looks like we have a whale on our hands Smiley

My guess for today is Dec 29 @ 5.05pm

Peace

That's actually the time I was thinking of putting down.

101x5 vtr for being on the same wavelength  Wink

So remember kids, this is just a fun way to alert everyone that there is a hard fork at block 1,200,000 unless devs have changed their minds.
564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | 2FA | HD | @Bittrex on: December 04, 2016, 01:12:36 PM
Any news behind the price drop?

I personally will be looking to buy quite a bit more.

It's a matter of timing, on my part.
565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | 2FA | HD | @Bittrex on: December 04, 2016, 01:08:55 PM
Can someone explain this coin in one or two sentences?
Thank you

Quote from: OP
Our goal is to make vTorrent the choice for people who uses bittorrent protocol
and for people who love crypto-currency around the globe.

We are not aiming to be 'the next Bitcoin', but we are aiming to be limewire or kazaa with blockchain at its core.

-Distribute BitTorrent metadata on Blockchain.
-System to reward both uploader and seeders.

Well done.

I really can't stand that twat.

I'll add 1000 to the guessing pool--so the total should be 1101. 101 coming from coins101 and 1000 coming from me.

Coins101 can choose the winner.

Cool.

Actually, if you notice...some of the posts have randomly selected multiples of 101 vtr  Grin

The actual winner is publicly verifiable...the one closest to the date and time of the next hard fork (block 1,200,000) wins. They'll just need to check their guesses and come forward.

This is actually a good way to make people aware of the hard fork....We don't want a vTorrentClassic fork  Grin

bump

pick a time and date when the next hard fork is due (block 1,200,000): closest wins 1101.101 vtr and possibly moar

I'm interested to see if the nascent vTorrrent users will:

* Curated legal, niche, hard to find content

* Come together to finance very small content that can be sold (start small, who knows where it could go)

* Find and encourage indie content creators to just try and release their stuff on vTorrent and try out different models, from free to charge as much as you can

* Create a public tracker or trackers to legally available content that can be purchased

* Some people wanting to buy access to content will need to get BTC and convert it to VTR. At some point VTR <> Fiat might need to be sorted out.
569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | 2FA | HD | @Bittrex on: December 02, 2016, 10:56:52 PM
If someone has to pay for downloading torrents nobody will use a system like that.

I was assuming that it would be "charge what you want", or make it free.

I guess we'll just have to see what its like when it comes out.

You can ask for features to be added.

What would be on your top 3 wish list?

1. Built in media player.
2. The ability to pay in vtr to advertise media on a "front page" of the client, or show media that might be trending?
3. The ability to set a limit on how much you want to make on your project before it becomes free.
3a (example). My brother owns a recording studio http://www.acaciajade.com up in Denver, and while he would love to spread his studios music around for free, that doesn't pay the mortgage and keep the lights on. If he was able to place a song on vTorrent and say "I want to make 100vtr" on this song... after that it becomes free, I think it might resonate with people using vTorrent and persuade some of these torrenters(?) to chip in a few VTR to push the paid amount past the point where it becomes free for all.

Integration with VLC was near top of my wishlist too.

Nice ideas.

What happens with 1 st fork? What changes are expected
At first fork?

As I understand it, VTR will be heading to the International Space Station to prep for its expedition to outside of the visible universe.

Quickly passing the moon.

The moon will be absorbed by VTR's 'matter rockets' and be converted for use as fuel  Wink

Dear all,

For anyone still having problem with syncing or client have 0 peer, please follow steps as follow:

1. Create new text document with following content

Code:
addnode=vtrseed.cloudns.asia

2. Save it as vTorrent.conf then move/copy it according to your operating system

For Windows:

The file AppData folder is hidden by default so make sure to enable viewing hidden files.

Code:
Windows drive (C:) -> Users -> $YOURUSERNAME -> AppData -> Roaming -> vTorrent-HD

For Mac:

Code:
~/Library/Application Support/vTorrent-HD/

There is no need to add more nodes since vtrseed.cloudns.asia is a crawler for our vTorrent network, which should able to provide list of reliable nodes by itself.

It is also hardcoded since 0.8.1.1b and all soon to be released clients.

Code:
DEV_MP:~ VTR_DEV08$ dig vtrseed.cloudns.asia

i really don't understand what's the point of a crypto currency in relation with torrents

do you have to pay to share/download torrents? if yes, why on earth should i do that when i can get any torrent for free and in a safe way?
do i get coins for uploads? who pays me?

my company is working on some torrent client prototype (cannot write details) and i'm curious to know more about this coin

Because torrents aren't "free"; bandwidth is not "free".
There has also been a sustained attempt at shutting down torrent-related websites over the past decade; which has increased significantly in the past few weeks.

There are also torrent trackers and communities that have been hit by legal consequences; without sustained communities torrents will die off (never entirely, but the idea of BitTorrent being "content rich" could easily fade away after some time).

vTorrent is best described as a project that will incentivize the torrent network.

well, torrents have been free for long time and i expect they will continue to be free for long

if people are loosing money or getting caught then should be upgraded the tech behind it, no more centralized torrent websites and you can keep torrents totally free and without any bandwidth waste with webtorrents, webRTC and just a browser.

i understand the incentive and why you want to push it but we torrent users have been just fine for many years without it

If someone has a choice of offering free and earning a little to share then which one do you think they will choose?

There are 150m-300m potential users, even if just 1m use vtr to get a good, reputable and encrypted connection, then VTR will have a bigger user base then the whole of the crypto scene on coinmarketcrap, other than Bitcoin and perhaps Litecoin.

So while you have a point, you are also missing the point. vTorrent is a market based option, within the existing landscape, it will find people that want to use it and people that want to profit from making bandwidth available.

If you are telling me that there are zero private systems that have a payment option, I can tell you that you have never heard of Usenet.

The buying support is only 11BTC.
However, the selling support has 374BTC, too.:-@

That's basically because people aren't willing to sell the coin at current prices. There seems to be a lot of demand that is steadily increasing, but most people around here probably simply don't want to hawk their coins off at low prices. This is a long-term bet and not a short-term bet like most of the altcoins around.

If you're in to VTR its because you likely believe in the concept of torrents/cryptocurrency and that it will do well once it hits.

If you read every single page, you'll see that some hodlers around here think it will go above $80m, and keep going.

150m - 300m monthly BitTorrent users, suddenly get the option of public access to good seeders. All you need is 1m of those and you've basically got as many users as all the altcoins on coinmarketcap.

What has DASH got, 10k users? XMR, 10k? ETH, 20k? Now add up their market caps.

@dev the SDC HD wallet is now released. Are you working with it?

HD wallet is part of the upcoming major client release, which unfortunately will be hardfork and will requires all users and services to update to this new version as soon as it is released.

I won't give any ETA but I can ensure you all that this project is being work on almost full time.

Regards,

vTorrent

well, in the devs version, there is a BitTorrent tab

Very interesting cross exchange on LN:

https://twitter.com/jgarzik/status/803305535944724481

Makes me wonder if ServiceNodes would be the ideal mechanism to run LN in a few years time.

If SDC can be used as a proxy for VTR's value, then even with almost double the supply of SDC, VTR should be around 5-6 cents.

Maybe more because SDC hovered around 10-20 cents for the 6 months or so leading up until the big spike to 2 dollars.

Even though VTR is using SDC  as it's base, this is a different beast, not sure if you should compare the two.

I do agree that the current price is still super cheap, as we are not even off the starting line yet.

Interesting times ahead.  Cool

Actually, if you read the Satoshi whitepaper, crypto all started with BitTorrent.

So vTorrent is going full circle.
