KDC is probably the first coin that I haven't sold anything yet after some days of being on the market. I know all the potential it has, so I'm HODLing (my miserable 1.6k, but at least it's something.)

to be fair RPC was long due on Cryptsy, what surprises me a bit is the addition of MOON, but with all the buy orders that happened yesterday I'm quite sure that was Big Vern stocking up on MOONs so he could dump them on his exchange knowing that once he adds a coin it has a spike on its price.
As for the others, battlecoin? really? what's that? OSC also surprised me, but again probaby another sleight of hand from Mr Big Vern.

but hype will just kill a coin because people insta dump it once the hype train is over, and if coin is not properly protected, it will also be dead hash-wise once the multipools jump off the coin and leave you with a sky high difficulty.

Hype should be organic and grow with the community, if the coin is good by itself it doesn't need extra hype to grow.

That being said, good dev team is a must and then a fair no pre-mine launch is another good factor to ensure the success of a coin. Just look at KDC for example, devs are buying up their own coin because they didn't pre-mine, contrary to what most coins do that pre-mine 1-3% and then dump most of that onto the first exchange that accepts the coin.

Rob, we need more nodes. P2Pool is worthless with just a single node.

Read my comment a few pages back, you need to release source so that other nodes can be brought up. Any block found on any P2Pool node rewards the entire network.

it would actually be nice to get more nodes for P2Pool, you should probably share the source or the settings you used so that more people can bring up nodes and help secure the network.

hmm, so I was mining DOGE, then CasinoCoin for a day, some CAT until it got multipool-raped, then RPC when it was already too late (I was mining DOGEs until Jan 2) and after a brief comeback to DOGE (having gone through some shitcoins to make some quick profit, like MOON and TIPS) I seen the announcement of KDC and decided to put my trust onto this coin.
So far I have not been disappointed  

As for CPU mining I usually do Primecoin, but also did some CPU mining for KDC at the beginning and even found 1 block with it

I only have a 7850 and Phenom X4 960T, so I must pick my coins carefully.

same happened to me, just reset password and everything is intact.
either a random issue with the pool or somebody tried dictionary attacks against the passwords until accounts locked out.

Well, looks like the owner of this site jumped the shark 

First they announce the faucet is down for maintenance until 14.01, then on 14.01 they announce that the site was sold, and a new owner would be relaunching the site on 17.01... now the message is that the site is for sale 

so what was it? maintenance, sold or for sale? so sad, I had a bunch of ltc in there waiting to hit the cashout button (about 7000 uLTC). Will be hard to trust in this faucet again if they ever come back.
