861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY] VNL - Vanillacoin - ZeroTime double-spend reward on: August 11, 2015, 04:29:46 PM
I like results, if someone has the skills and isn't working on something else, they should make a couple thousand bucks and prove they can do it.

I recall Monero was going to be hacked and all sorts of drama, but it was all cheap talk and nothing ever came of it, just endless BS and then XMR had a much higher marketcap. I have no reason to trust randoms on Bitcointalk that say they have skills, maybe they do and maybe they don't, but testing and proof, that I can believe in.

Well said.
862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY] VNL - Vanillacoin - ZeroTime double-spend reward on: August 11, 2015, 03:37:01 PM
YADaminer - I like your enthusiasm.

Now - just because 1 twat with a computer can't hack your network, does not mean your network is secure.

What if the Hack costs more than $2000 to perform ?

I need a 100 computer network at my disposal, which I don't have.

If VNL was actually worth anything, I can assure you many MANY hackers with armies of zombie computers would tear into it. But knowing that this is the case, the network will never be worth enough for them to bother. Catch 22.

How about just answering the questions posed in this thread ? There are 15 points in my previous post but let's start with the BIG one..

How is a sybil attack prevented ?

Is John Connor from the future where he saves us from SkyNet ?

Are you his pet terminator ?

Doubt you need 100 computers vs the TestNet of like what, 10-20 nodes currently? Surely 2.3k USD should be worth the try.

Your argument is invalid.

The bounty is set, rules are known, just take our money if you can.
If you can't than please stop shitting arround cause that basicaly speaks all about you.

They are too busy to take a bounty of 2300 USD for something they could identify in 5 minutes Wink

Also they are unable to understand that the testnet is real, whitepaper isn't.
864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [DIN] - Death is near: Survive if you can Game of horror on: August 11, 2015, 02:04:51 PM
I think you are looking for www.kickstarter.com .  This is an digital currency announcement forum.

The funding is also available on kickstarter.com.

Doubt anyone will gve you money with this uncreative description.

Also the fact that you want to run it through bitcointalk just screams scam, no buyer protection here.

IGS instamining his own coin, and even posts a reply to his 0 acitivity account, looks sweet.

Would recommend to mine.

@TPTB_need_war

The final whitepaper isn't up on github. The bounty goes for double-spening on the ZT testnet.

If in theory it is so easy for you, feel free to just download it and do it. You don't seem that busy since you can do various comments and call coins names which had probably thousands of hours invested. The bounty is there to try and give some incentive to spend time on it, meanwhile you act as if this project would be pumped with the testnet + bounty.

Also you are basing most of your assumptions on a draft?

Bounty no longer available, ZeroTime final code is up on github and will soon be deployed in a public release.

Vanillacoin
cryptographic currency

The community has put together a bounty for a successful double-spend on the ZT test network. ZeroTime is an approach to decentralized autonomous zero confirmation cryptographic-currency transactions.

Please don't post IRC logs as John prefers the issues discussed on IRC stay on IRC since they are non official Smiley

This is VNL thread, isn't it?  Roll Eyes

It's the unmoderated and unofficial discussion thread whch most people use to chat and for help. The official thread's link can be found at the top of the OP.

Theymos helped fix the bug/issue with the thread so I can update it soon with the pools and news Smiley

Price keeps dropping :-(

No worries, the final ZeroTime code and release will solve the questions.

Seems John started pushing the private (final) ZeroTime files to the public github:

Sorry for not editing the OP with things like:
Cryptoflyr's github for a prototype on the FPGA source and the new pool's links.

While trying to edit or delete text from the OP a database error shows up from bitcointalk. I have written to mprep and theymos (mprep already answered, but the sollution didn't help). I will update everything as soon as I can.

Let's keep this thread civil and refrain from rejoicing over trouble of other coins. Let's not draw first blood so to speak.

And so much for that...
Lets just go fud other threads instead...

Well, he started it and when you do so you need to be prepared for the consequences, no?

Nothing wrong with healthy criticism/review I would personally rather know if there is some vulnerability with zerotime wouldn't you?

Thats not how healthy criticism works, it starts with posting proof directly. He announced it without proof and stated that he will send it to a friend. Grow some common sense mate and stop defending him because you are invested Wink

That's fud from someone whos biggest innovation a modified pos is.
877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [VNL] Vanillacoin 0.3.1 | TCP/UDP | DarkPP/MinerPP/CoinPP | ZeroTime TestNet on: August 08, 2015, 07:58:45 AM

A bitcoin clone developer posting bullshit with no proof is a good reason to do so imho.
878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nexus [Niro] - Pure SHA3 + CPU/GPU + nPoS + 15 Active Innovations + More to Come on: August 08, 2015, 06:46:41 AM
More nodes staking does help secure the nPoS channel yes, so thank you for helping Smiley

As to Trust Key expiration if you don't stake for 1 day your key will expire requiring you to get another genesis transaction and create a new trust key starting at 0.5% interest. Most likely going to increase the expiration time to 1 week or month, depending on what you guys would like so if you have suggestions to how long you would like the expiration time to be, let me know Smiley

Vanilla has had a lot of attention, but under false pretense such as: The Angel Investor was actually John Conner.
There are also some false claims such as their staking being more energy efficient, when it is an exact line for line clone of Peercoin, just rewritten in C++ 11.

Another thing for you VNL holders, don't trust Zero Time. I found some flaws in it that would allow successful double spends at zero confirmations without 51% of network power, I'm writing a report for a friend about it and other positives / negatives with its claims / actual results.

But on another note, I'd like to extend my appreciation to everyone for helping make Nexus what it is, don't forget: By the People, for the People. To me, Nexus isn't just about profit, it's about freeing ourselves from a system designed to keep us enslaved, the more everyone works together, the more chances we have at this Freedom.

Cooperation, not Competition
We Are Nexus1

Be a good sport and show the flaws instead of just posting things like this. The whole idea of the test network is for people to test it, so if you found something let the VNL dev know. I seriously doubt that you have though  Grin

If he had anything he would have posted proof via testnet else the full code and draft isn't up on github yet, but yeah, he obviously found a flaw and will report it to his "friend" instead of revealing it. Trust him, he is a respected clone dev.

casual 37 BTC  walls... someone really wants those coin before ZeroTime

Where is this 37 support? Did it run away like a chicken?

Back at 44.5k within minutes. Public testing has begun and now we get to see facts proved out with testing.

UDP is currently disabled on the testnet, but TCP should also do 1 sec respendable transactions. UDP should be enabled soon tho.
880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [VNL] Vanillacoin 0.3.1 | Hybrid TCP/UDP | ECDHE | O(1) | DarkPP/MinerPP/CoinPP on: August 06, 2015, 07:22:53 AM
from another thread

"Immediate concerns would be that UDP isn't a guaranteed delivered protocol (so packets may well never arrive), that the "Security Considerations" section of the paper is wrong (not sure how they got the impression you can't forge UDP origin), in fact very wrong (MiTM attacks, attacks on routing infrastructure), and simply skips most of the detail. Further concerns would be that any major network split seems inevitably likely to fragment the coin horrifically as there's no reconciliation mechanism I can see. It also seems incredibly optimistic about network propagation times - if we were confident about network relay speed, block times would be down in the seconds range (because why not?), rather than minutes.

Emphasis concerns, this is my quick eyeball over the paper without time to look at the code. Hopefully others can comment more meaningfully."

John has past experience with million node UDP networks, you can be sure he has read up on what he does. Doubt he would skip solving the problems of UDP that a wikipedia can list also.

He modified it to work with a cryptocurrency networks and it will be lossless.

I dont think it will be lossless as such but the packets will still be functional at small level of discrepancy , I know from hanging around IRC that he is very well aware of the loss of data packets using just UDP and has either gone with the more solid RUDP or maybe a combination of UDP and TCP. i don't know if it's one of those or something i have forgotten, it is similar to maidsafe in a way, which also uses RUDP, for the exact same reason of data packets lost with UDP alone

Yeah, meant lossless as in no real chance of missing data by the recipient.
