The wallet vanillacoin.exe program was flag by my anti-virus as an infected file.  Huh

That's probably a false flag or an error on your part, official download link doesn't contain malware and it's open source.

Firstly, thank you for your interest! Even though I presonally see no point in paid exchanges (your voting page states that you need 25 BTC alltogether, 5 for the integration costs and 10-10 for the BUY/SELL stability feature) some people may still be interested in it. If the community decides they want it, they will probably ask for it through your BCT thread.

The idea behind your exchange seems to be good, but I don't see volume currently and I fear that it would be hard to spread volume from the more popular exchanges.

The reason I reached out is because I notice VNL isn't represented by shapeshift yet; our market buy/sell orders are identical in operation to shapeshift, so if you were looking for an instant exchange to promote easy access to VNL, then we can offer this service... as well as limit orders and relative limit orders etc.

Volume is only restricted by liquidity, and since we have instant liquidity, volume should naturally follow as long as people know about us - we have only been operational for 5 months.

Thank you for the explanation, seems like a great concept and I wish you good luck.

Hey vanillafolks,

Is there any interest in getting vanillacoin listed on https://metaexchange.info?

Every market we run has an integrated market maker who's only goal is provide constant liquidity (10 BTC on each side of the book, at the best price), so if vanillacoin was listed it would be like having a permanent whale who's only goal is to break even.

We offer market, limit and relative limit orders* all without requiring registration.

Check us out on coinmarketcap: http://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/metaexchange/

Vanillacoin isn't yet listed on our coin voting page, because I've only added top coinmarketcap coins to start with, but I've been following the development of this coin closely and I think it has great potential. If you'd like to see it added to our voting page, please post here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1126479.0

If you have access to a server and have a trusted status within the community, you can also talk to us about becoming a liquidity provider node in our network, which would mean you act as a market maker for the VNL/BTC market and we route orders to you. Shoot me a PM if that sounds of interest.

Cheers, Paul.

*) relative limit orders are priced as a percentage of the mid-price (bid+ask)/2 and automatically reprice after every transaction. We are the only bitcoin exchange in the world to offer this feature.

statdude - for pools in the 8btc thread:
Link to https://vnl.suprnova.cc/ and http://vnl.idcray.com/

Forget the rest, but link to those two, instead of just having text of suprnova.cc and idcray.com.

FPGAs might need to use http://pool01.vanillacoin.net/ initially, but the software hasn't been released yet.

Also, traumschiff, you can delete Geilidao.com and Nonce-pool.com for now at least.  Neither have been working for some time.

Totally forgot about those. Took them down, ty.

On other news, it seems that we will hold a floor between 19-20k which seems promising if you take the past floors and the rises after into consideration. Let's give it another few days to sort itself out though Smiley

John's quad ztex boards have arrived in the post today, you can see his fresh post here: https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/147/making-a-mojov3-fpga-miner/5

Seems he has already started further developing the MinerPP software for them since there are already github commits being submitted, see here:

@ Za1n - if you want to learn more about PoS check out the HBN thread and their wiki   Wink

Thanks for pointing me to the HBN wiki, that was more the type explanation I was looking for regarding staking.

I think the OP for Vanillacoin should include a better explaination of such features, as we are not all experts with these concepts.

Thank you for pointing that out, will look into adding more information about POS

How about removing/editing your earlier reply because it's completely false and might spread wrong information?

fyi John wrote on IRC that you can help the POS get rolling with doing lots of smaller deposits (next to big ones) into the wallet. Which part would you like to get removed?

He means that you do gain net weight whether your wallet is open or not.  It's determined by amount of coins in your wallet and amount of time your inputs have been in your wallet's addresses (without being moved).  Leaving your wallet open gives you chances to turn the net weight of an input into a stake.  The longer you leave your wallet open, the more chances you get.

Regardless, it's already back a page, so no reason to edit your post unless you want to, imo.

Thank you for correcting me, edited my comment and linked to your response.

More Staking Questions

Ok, so I read on official forum a response that seemed to imply staking could happen anytime between 8 hours and 365 days. So I get that it is a random event somewhere in that time-frame.

Now my question relates to how long do I need to keep my wallet open. I realize no staking will occur if I do not have the wallet open, but say I close it and don't open it for a month, or a year. Will it then have the same chance of staking? So hypothetically, say I don't open my wallet for 365 days, according to my interpretation of that the post I would be guaranteed it to have it stake at that point?

I guess I am just trying to understand if there are any negatives to not keeping the wallet open 24/7.

Thanks

Staking is a reward on securing the network. If you don't secure it you won't get rewarded. You won't gain netweight if you keep your wallet closed.

Closing your wallet from time to time won't reset your chances to stake, but won't help you either (got corrected here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=977245.msg11879255#msg11879255). No one can tell you the exact time to stake because it has a lot of factors calculated in. Staking isn't random, but a lot of things matter like: number of transactions from wallet, number of coins, coinage, etc.

My mobile wallet started staking after a week with several thousand coins, if you only own 100-1000 or a similar smaller amount don't expect to stake in a week. After the first stake it stakes more frequently though.

Well, maybe i can, i don know, but logo is not complicated if u ask me, it is simple Vanilla flower in 2 circles. And most important is original and unique.

Vanilla could also refer to the terms "original" "basic" "simple" or whatever. It could also refer to things like: this will be the basic currency used, minimalistic design (wallet). Nothing below this (technological) line should be used as a currency thus refering to innovation and basic needs (like instant transactions, which is needed for a coin to act like real cash).

I never thought of Vanillacoin as a coin that was named after a food flavor or a flower, but maybe that's just me.

But as I already said the logo looks cool for a company or a business, I just can't imagine it on a currency/technology.

I'm not sure if "minimalistic" or "basic" is the way you'd want to go with a cryptocurrency/technology.. I want "the full package".. Anonymous, Fast, Easy To use and "eyecandy" is always nice too. You could still use a Nokia 5110 instead of an IPhone if you want Basic / Minimalistic design Wink Why does the IPhone has all the graphics effects if no one wants/likes it ?

IMHO eyecandy plays a huge (!) role in technology, we all want stuff to look "crisp" and nice..

The winner logo looks quite boring and "too simple" to me.. It reminds me of some Star Wars / Star Trek logo of the 90's.. You could use that as an Preview-Icon or so, but not as the "Main logo" .. Logocreator has done a beautiful job there, and i'm sure his logo would have been chosen too if it went through the whole voting process.. its a pity he's so late, but comparing his logo's to the competitions logos at least for me the winner is pretty clear.

Aye, well I didn't take any part in the decision process and I would obviously be happy with the choice of the masses. I'll PM John if he is online in case he misses Logocreators version.

Just trying to throw in my thoughts, hope more people will share theirs.

@logocreator what would you think of a V on which the second leg's "/" end warps into blocks, first a few bigger ones and than smaller ones which slowly vanish thus showing the technological aspect of Vanillacoin and the "data" behind it.

This could be made in a simple and minimalistic way, I'm just not that good in design. Would be happy to hear your thoughts.

New logo is live Cool

Well, not much change, i offered before to make (already done) a pro logo for such as good coin, but seems that nobody want to listen. And again Vanilla ended with amateur logo. Just my opinion, no offense

If it is already done why not post it, you could put a watermark or something if you are worried about the design being taken? I think the new one is better than the old, but it sort of reminds me of Viacoin, pretty close to the Viacoin logo.

(The tech is really the value here, but in the long run logos and branding is very important)

Ok, here is logo that i made, i don't want to bother you here with graphics, so i made new thread just for my logo.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1114535.0

Awesome logo and you have great talent in terms of design, but I would go with the "winner" of the contest though.

This isn't a company, but rather a technology based currency. The contest winner may seem amateur and too generic, but it explains the story well for people who already saw Bitcoin's logo or any currency symbol and I would go with it.

Your logo seems overcomplicated for no reason, imho you could do better ideas according to the material I've seen in your history.

ive try to contact him, without success, so i left him my contact details. So far no contact, seems that is very busy.

Duno, he is on IRC almost every day so it's not that hard to contact him. Not sure if you tried that, it was mentioned here several times that anyone can reach him there.

I'm still on the opinion that you should talk with John if you haven't already. He is the one leading this project and building innovation so it's pretty much in his hands to decide imho.

Show him if you have something to offer and who knowns, he may alter his decision.

I like this logo, but you are right in the fact that it's not a huge change, but I wouldn't call it amateur since the modern trends dictate minimalistic and easy to remember designs.
