261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: September 07, 2014, 07:36:40 AM

I've been following this all very closely from the start of BTCD.
In 7 weeks James' coin went from 4k satoshi (or less) to 1.58 million satoshi.
And it has held it's ground the entire way.
For that project, and the others such as the SuperNET, the creativity level and energy levels are clearly off the charts.

There is always risk in Crypto. As is in life.
I think this kind of innovation should be supported and rewarded.

The fact it does not go down is a good sign actually. It means there are enough buy orders to keep it at same level.
If buyers would lose interest the price would have been below 10K already.

^^^ This. Market cap would be down to 100-200k USD by now if market had died.
Someone has been buying up very carefully for 2-3 weeks.

I like mystery.
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SuperNET - ICO conducted by BTER + ... on: September 05, 2014, 04:47:11 AM

I'll give an example of an ICO that worked. It was called FOOD and it worked because
it started at 1 satoshi and only asked 10 BTC of investment. It rose upwards of 2000%
because of these low starting points. Of course it was just for fun but it did prove
an interesting point about ICOs. People's confidence at launch is inversely proportional to the amount
of BTC that is raised.

I know you think you cannot build what you want without serious investment but maybe you can
approach VCs for this amount of funding behind the scenes. Or possibly lower the amount or cap it.
I think asking people for 10,000 BTC to fund an experiment might be a lot to ask.

Many open source projects started with far less money and people joined these projects
with their time because they believed in them. Bitcoin was one of them.

I have been following BTCD since it started and been a occasional investor.

if only a small amount comes in, that is fine. I will just do this using primarily my funds
I did decently with the sharkfund0 that start with around 1500 BTC, so expecting 6x for something with a more robust plan does not seem unreasonable, but that's my opinion. If you are looking for some instant 20x return, then SuperNET is not for you.
You cannot compare SuperNET to any "air" based crypto that is not backed by anything. I think this is the difference that maybe you are not fully grasping.

Also, you really cant compare SuperNET to an open source software project. They are simply not comparable at all and for you to be thinking about SuperNET like this indicates you are not understanding the asset backed nature.

James

That is a fair response. You are right that open source should not be compared to an asset backed fund. Although the assets are Crypto Currencies which are all
still rather experimental and by some people's definitions "air" themselves. Not by my definition of course. But still something to contend with.

The example was not to make it out like I am wishing a 20x return but that a 10,000 BTC "target" is a big weight to put on people's psychology at launch.

I hope to see it do well. Many are watching quite eagerly.
All the best.

In a VC environment more money would be provided with goals met. Instead of raising all the funds
all at once.

I was looking at Cluster Coin before ICO and I looked through Essex's posts starting from his first post
way back in the start when he first registered. The things he posted and where and what
he wrote made zero sense in relation to the coin ICO postings. I mean seriously go look right now...

What I am saying is I did my research and knew it was likely a very poor idea to buy that coin
and I didn't buy it based on what I learned from simply spending 10 minutes going through his post
history and trying to match anything from his older posts to his ICO posts.

His account was likely purchased. It's not certain but likely.
It sure appears that way to me at least.

Just my two satoshi.
I do this every day ---- Research.
A little will go a long way.

Sweet.
Sweeeeeet.

Cryptsy add, twitter talk, and a few other things tell me I need to keep paying attention to HAL.

Anyone know the block time?

Just something I noticed --- Dev can you put the block time in the OP? I didn't see it.
I was trying to figure when PoW was ending. Seems like about 2 days left only.

Anyone know the amounts of HAL the multipools might still hold if any?
272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Halcyon - x15 POW/POS - No IPO - No Premine - Active!!! - Anon White Paper on: August 23, 2014, 09:26:27 AM

These nice fellas brought me a very good profit (5x) with #crypt and #key. No reason to not trust them again.

+1 I made thousands of dollars in CRYPT and KEY and doing it again in HAL. Oh the humanity.

 Grin Grin Grin

Cool thanks for the twitters. Now I can follow them all as I make 500-1000% profit on their coins.
I recommend you do the same. Always at your own level of risk tolerance of course.

If you think "your" coin is not under similar influence from big players then you must be new.
Welcome to the big boy's table.

It's seems pretty likely HAL has a lot more to show over the days to come.
I'll be watching.

273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 20, 2014, 08:21:10 AM
It's a profession now. Trolling.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=741811.0

The dirty secret is that FUDers or Trolls... well.... they are paid.
They are paid to try to hold down a coins value for accumulation.

That is why the quality of FUD can be high sometimes. It's their Job.
Happens in the stock market as well I am sure.

When it's non-stop and high level then it's for a reason.
Money.
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 20, 2014, 02:50:20 AM
Someone is accumulating.

If Cloak does manage to rise up to even half where it was (ATH) that is a massive profit from where it is now.
All it would take is some good news.

Buyers have their finger on the trigger as you can see from the last 24 hours in the order book.

And DRK sucked out a lot of money from other coins today. When DRK cools people will
be looking for what might do the same. The BTC crash left us some massive Alt coin profit opportunities.
Whales are circling a few coins right now. This is one of them.

Might be sooner than you think.
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Sha-256/PoW-PoS hybrid/Bounty Opportunities on: August 18, 2014, 07:45:42 AM
Coin value has surpassed DarkCoin.  Smiley
coin price, BTCD marketcap will exceed DRK marketcap after the version that teleports BTC is released

James

Indeed. The Market Cap is the true measure.

What is your ETA for that version?
Keep up the good work.
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Sha-256/PoW-PoS hybrid/Bounty Opportunities on: August 15, 2014, 02:20:09 AM
For those interested, bigVern (cryptsy) said he will implement a new system where we could trade any coin to any other coin instead of first converting to LTC and/or BTC

That's hilarious.

Cryptsy cannot even withdraw my XC without losing it for 4 days ... 3 times in a row. Even with support contacted multiple times each instance.
And this happened the last couple weeks.

I can tell you with certainty that Cryptsy will have zero chance at doing anything cutting edge.
I personally will never .. ever use them again. And was a very good customer of theirs for awhile in the past.
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SHLD] ShieldCoin - X15 - PoS - Fair Launch - Whitepaper RELEASE! on: August 14, 2014, 10:49:52 PM
I PM'ed the devs at keycoin and they swear they don't know anything about shieldcoin and that apparently the nodes at the start are very common & similar and that if I were a coin developer I would know this!?

I looked into it also. Just put the IP address for each node from any coin into Google and other coins will show up it seems.
One matches RIOT coin as well.

I am not a Dev but I would guess that many coins use the same server companies or people that run nodes for coins.
On the other hand it's also possible that there are several "teams" that make coin after coin re-using the same IP out of laziness.

But I think it's more likely that there are just so many of the same people that jump from team to team and mix up everything
like hosting and IPs and graphics that it looks like it's the same team behind each coin. I know from experience that
many people who provide services work on many different coins.

Mind bending....
I don't think it's "proof" of anything and will never be. But it is a piece of information.

If any Devs with reputation can clarify in a convincing way the nodes are re-used and how.
I think it would help Keycoin rep if anything to explain it. I saw a post about it was removed from Key thread. I just
happened to see it the few minutes it was there before moderation. I am not a Dev so it's something
I would like to learn about.

-- I want to add here that Key is really making innovations that are usable and they have a great team it seems.
People make coins and they fail and move to new ones that do not fail. It's not the end of the world Smiley
Just best to clarify to the IP node clueless what happens behind the scenes.
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Sha-256/PoW-PoS hybrid/Bounty Opportunities on: August 13, 2014, 02:44:41 AM
I really think BTCD can be the next 10 mil coin.
The chart is one of the most gorgeous looking I have seen in months.

Just needs to finds it's new floor and build some natural buy support walls.
Dev is class A.
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin | Fair Launch | Daily Updates | 8/12 Update - Moderated on: August 12, 2014, 11:03:27 PM

Key could easily double in the next week or so from this price.
As an example look at what XC endured in FUD in the start and it prevailed in the end with a multi-million dollar market cap.

Key can do the same with this team.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitcoinDark (BTCD)--Sha-256/PoW-PoS hybrid/Bounty Opportunities on: August 12, 2014, 09:45:19 PM
to the BTCD whale :

One giant buy wall and no buy support under it all the way down.
Either you want to buy everyone's coins at 500k and know what you are doing or you are new to being a whale.

That setup will 100% guarantee the wall will be fully sold to.
How's QBK?

Sold that at 5% profit immediately.
Are we talking about other coins here? Don't be "that guy" man.
