I have started minting, and have a question.
Minting seems to be going well, although takes quite awhile.
Does it matter to turn off wallet during minting?
Will it effect the minting coins or anything else?
I will probably have to turn computer off before coins finish minting. Will this cause any problems?

Thanks for advice.

All I am trying to do is verify everything is working well before I start to mint.

I re downloaded the block chain with old version 2.0.2.1 a few days ago.
I have then updated to version 2.0.2.2

Wallet opens as normal with no problems.

I want to start minting but have become very insecure about things.

I'm not wanting to get to technical with all this. I just want to be secure in knowing things are working properly after all the problems that has occurred.

This is latest checkpoint

Advise please,

I redownloaded the blockchain with old version 2.0.2.1 a few days ago.
I have then updated to version 2.0.2.2

Wallet opens as normal with no problems.

Will it be ok to start minting now without any problems?
I haven't started minting yet as I want to make sure all is ok before I start.

Is it correct in assuming that if you check the block count against the block explore it is a way of checking you are on the correct fork, and all is ok?
I have checked the block count with block explorer and it matches.

This is my latest check point if anyone could check it please.

Is there anything else I should do or ok to start minting?

Thanks

(1) supercoindev is our dev acct
 (2) explorer works, you can check against it to make sure if you are on correct chain. http://cryptotrends.info/SUPERCOIN

I am on wallet version 1.3 and haven't used wallet for a few days.
I changed the addnodes in the conf. file with the latest in OP before starting up wallet.
The block count matches exactly to the explorer link given by devs.
So if you haven't opened your wallet for few days, in this way the problem can be averted.
Coins has started minting and getting a few incoming, now thats super!!
If the devs may want to comment as I don't want to give people the wrong advice.

O.k thanks utahjohn,

With the checkpoint what should I be looking for to know it is correct.

Note there may be a newer one ... post what you get and I'm sure many will check it ...

It's going much faster now with more connections.

I will post the checkpoint when its done, will take awhile still so probably tomorrow.

Thanks

I have now done a complete re-download.
I have checked the checkpoint and it is matching.
I have closed and reopened the wallet a few times and all has worked fine so far.
Soon I will try to mint and see what happens.

Thanks

my wallet dont work

assertion failed!

file:src\kernel.cpp,line 412

Expression: pindex->getblockHash() == (!fTestNet ? hashGenesisBlock : hashGenesisBlockTestNet)

When this happens, the safest way out is to re-index the block chain. Either do a full download again or, (faster) delete blkindex.dat and run diamondd -loadblock=blk0001.dat
That will take some long time, while rebuilding the index.

We will address this problem ASAP.

I need help please and I am new at this,

I am having this problem also, was using the latest wallet and all was working fine till today, haven't tried minting yet.
I also can't find the conf. file in the diamond file and I have the option ticked to show hidden files and folders.

Trying to understand what to do, am new at so don't make it hard and make it understandable so someone who knows nothing can follow your instructions.

Option 1- Full download, does this mean deleting the whole diamond file but first saving the wallet and replace wallet after download. And I expect download is from the new diamond site. Or can you just download new wallet and it will overwrite everything, then delete and replace wallet with original one.

Option 2 - Delete blkindex.dat and run "diamondd -loadblock=blk0001.dat".  Deleting the blkindex.dat file is easy but describe how to run "diamondd -loadblock=blk0001.dat"

Can you also let me know why I can't find the conf. file even with the file view option ticked to show hidden files and folders.

Thanks

Assuming you're using Windows...

The .conf file - you have to make it.
 1. Go into your Roaming\Diamond folder (C:\Users\YourLoginName\AppData\Roaming\Diamond)
 2. Right click, New Text Document.
 3. Rename it diamond.conf
 4. Right click it, Edit.
 5. Paste in what's posted in the original post (the "op").
 6. Save
 7. Restart the wallet.  Changes to the .conf file don't take place until you restart.

Full download - simple - delete everything in the Roaming\Diamond folder except wallet.dat and diamond.conf and start the wallet.  This will take quite some time.  If you have a fast internet connection, probably around 460 minutes.

Or, a little more complicated - to save a lot of time by downloading almost all of the blockchain, you need either Original.rar or a functional blk0001.dat, which you'd find in previous posts, along with instructions.  You should always check the previous posts first or you will get very curt responses.  Cryptonit posted a blockchain with instructions on page 11/12/13 and popshot just posted one recently, but some people have been unsuccessful with the recent one.  Original.rar can be obtained in post 1218 on page 61.

Basically, you're sticking someone else's blockchain in your Roaming\Diamond folder and then reindexing and syncing with the network.  It probably takes a half an hour or less instead of 8+ hours.  These files all came from the coin's devs, so there won't be any issues with them.

To "import" the downloaded blockchain, you'd start the wallet (just one time) either in a cmd prompt or using a batch file something like:
c:\PathToDiamond-QT.exe\diamond-qt.exe -loadblock=blk0001.dat.
(replace PathToDiamond-QT.exe with wherever you put it.  Mine is in E:\Users\John\Downloads\Diamond v.2.0.2.1\)
(if you have a space in your path, the .bat file is probably going to give you problems.)

Good luck.

Thanks Henle for your help. Also thanks to utahjohn.

I chose to do full download it was easiest for me and don't mind waiting for it to download. However I have also added maxconnections=1 in the conf. file. cryptonit advised this in post 1528 however it has caused the download to slow down so much that I want to take it out as it will take forever to download. Without this it downloads fast. Will it matter to take it out?

Thanks

Hello newbee needing help,

I'm glad the conf. file thing was discussed as I had same problems.
Now with all the talk of the test net just want to make sure that the wallet version 1.3 is for real coins (that can be transferred and held there) and not the test net, and that wallet version 2.0 is for the test net which shouldn't be used with real coins.

I wasn't being specific about the coins and development behind them because I am not technical in this area. I haven't a good enough understanding about them. I understand there is Darkcoin, Monero, XC maybe more and I believe there is at least a couple of different methods of anonymity behind them, but please understand I not technically understanding this stuff Just looking from the outside at what I see happening.

Just trying to shine some light on what maybe some possibilities as I see globlalcoin drifting into insignificance and believe it can be given a new lease of life If the right development was put behind it. Its a great named coin, fast transaction, nice amount of coinage.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GLC] Global Coin Group MANDATORY UPDATE! | RELEASED | New Services Coming on: May 28, 2014, 03:02:41 AM

As far as I understand there are a few different coins using at least a couple, if not more ways of creating anonymity. It may be a good idea to look at them all and pick the best possible method for Globalcoin and any other features that may enhance the viability and usefulness of this coin to have real use.

Also please consider that the trade $volume of this coin is quite low and the coin can easily drift into insignificance. There is a window of opportunity to turn this coin around into a major player of real significance, and whether anyone likes it or not this has to be implemented with great hast.

Hello SistaFista sorry to hear about your grandfather condolences to you and family.

Just like to say regarding Globalcoin as DigitalHoldings has pointed out it has nothing unique to offer, although it has its unique and great name and fast transaction time, its not enough. I really think that implementing the best of other coins is the best way to go and adding its own unique combination of the best things that are MOST DESIRABLE in a crypto coin. Darkcoin has really given what people want, as with CASH you can exchange with anonymity, whether people like it or not any crypto with this as part of its makeup will always move ahead of the rest and be amongst the most desirable coins. Can you please let me know if it is technically possible to make this a part of the make up of Globalcoin. As has been mentioned there are many things that can be considered. I just think that this is just one standout possibility.

Thanks SistaFista for the work you are doing with this coin. Are you the only developer? I hope you have others working with you, and /or other developers may join in to assist your work with this coin.

Hi all globalcoiners,

My first post.

I think something needs to be done with respect to this coin if it is to have a good future. I understand that there are people working on it however things seem to be going very slowly, any updates to what is happening with it would be appreciated from time to time.

I consider that the coins name is one of its best assets, one of the best named coins available, and its transaction time is very fast.

The developers and the community that use the coins are the key to its success at the moment, but especially the developers and the engineering that they place within a coin which gives the coin its uniqueness and demand.

Dark coin as people can see has great demand because it included something new. I was wondering if the attributes that it has can be coded into globalcoin, or similar.
I have no experience in the coding of these coins so I hope this isn't to much of a silly question.(It maybe that darkcoins attributes are so different that a coin would have to be created that way from its inception)

If developers got serious with this coin I think it can go a long way.

Build on the best things available what people want and what is in demand within a coin. The Groestl hashing algorithm mentioned by DigitalHoldings sounds good.

Anyway please any developers out there that are involved with this coin let us know what your thoughts are and what is being done.

Globalcoin is a great name and can be built on in a big way.
