81  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Free unlimited electricity... where to start? on: June 16, 2014, 11:12:52 PM
Thanks guys, some interesting ideas! Some of them I don't quite understand but i've got a good idea.

Ok I'll clear up a few things.

For quite some time now 've been renting a office within a bigger office (basically lots of studios) which is linked to over a hundred other studios, it's only just hit me I could be using this spare power for mining. These studios are all meant to be powered but your lucky if 70% really use that power (they are used for offline purposes, art etc.) Some studios use big power as they have lazer machines, huge format printers and other heavy machinary. But majority are all offline (no or small usage of power)

You only pay rent, you don't pay any electricity etc. I know some of their power is obtained via solar/wind and on grid.

I have 7 240 volt sockets available (typical UK spec) not sure on how much power they can handle but quick google reseach will probably give me the answer.

So these sockets are there with power available but not being used.

I realisticly don't want to spend any more money (because I'm in the middle of starting up a company and it's all going to that) I wanted to see what I could use my existing rig to make a little bit of overnight cash mining.

My friend has a huge rig down south (in newcastle) and I know he's been having power problems. So when I told him about this yesterday he almost cried as he's already sold half of his rig. He would have sent the whole lot up to my office lol. he has left ready for ebay 6x 280x and 4 x 1000watt corsair psu's with all riser cables and 2 psu splitters.

Hosting sounds good, I have the power there but not the rig I suppose.

Oh I just read  the last comment on the last post.

I have full public liability insurance and contents insurance. Hosting other miners wouldn't be a problem.

Hello there and welcome,

You almost certainly have 1 16amp ring main. There may be a 32 but it's almost certainly not as they're mainly used for kitchens.

All these plugs will run off this one circuit.

Each Terraminer uses 2.1kw roughly 9amps

Free electricity is great but you need lots to run multiple ASIC miners.

It's starting to hit 24C + now outside our building. Some more hot air extraction ducting.

Considered spiral ducting but the huge cost doesn't seem to justify slightly better air flow.

so if i were to buy gh grom you in the form of cloud mining would all the btc produced by that gh come to me or would fees be taken out of it?

Full details of the Cloud Mining - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=641168.msg7157532#msg7157532

ok, so after i pay more for mining than at other places you then take some more out every month to pay a totally bogus electricity price but other obscure prices also?? i will pass

'obscure'.... £0.18 per Kwh (The UK average) + £25 per U per month total cost is incredibly cheap hosting in the UK and far cheaper compared with similar Data center colocation deals.

I can say with complete and utter certainty if some 'Other Place'? is charging less than £1.67 per GH/s at the moment 08/06/14 with no running costs or further costs ever being deducted for a cloud mining service to run hardware indefinitely they are not running hardware. This is not opinion it's fact.

I would suggest researching things before posting sweeping statements on forums about a service and or market you clearly do not fully understand.

Looking like moving to Colo if I cant get it together. A good one in town is asking for 3 year commitment. hard to say whats up in 90 days.....

All the colo options in the UK were horrible too, we had to make our own.

Where is the website link? I have found that www.genesis-mining.com is offering start mining at 0.14usd/kh. What about your rate?

I agree with monim1. Can you mention about your rate? It would be easy for us to compare.

87  Economy / Service Announcements / BITCOIN CLOUD MINING GROUPBITCOIN.COM on: June 06, 2014, 12:58:05 AM
Dear Bitcoin Community,

We have just finished our new mine and launched our new site, here's some more information about our Cloud Mining and Colocation service as requested in another Topic.

Cloud Mining
We have always had a problem with the fact that Cloud Mining providers generally charge almost everything upfront, their profit, running costs, everything in the initial cost per GH/s, some even charge an additional ongoing % management fee. They're basically betting against Bitcoin by saying you give us £ or $ now to run for a year and hopefully you receive more btc back, it doesn't effect us we've already made our money.

Well we've decided to do things a bit differently on our new site, we charge the cost price of the hardware as the initial one off cost per GH/s including any relevant import taxes, shipping costs, one months running costs and any additional equipment required, PDU's, server cabinet accessories, shelves etc.

This hardware is then run 24/7 and at the end of each month we take the running costs (our standard Colocation fees) for the next month of mining from the pool of mined coins divided between members. This means we can run hardware indefinitely there's no fixed end date as you would do at home, run the hardware until it's redundant, until it can't pay it's monthly running costs but you can do all this with a 1GH/s share using the latest ASIC hardware.

We can currently offer contracts from 1GH/s up to 8TH/s. Using our new method we can start contracts instantly, offer a far lower cost per GH/s, no fixed end date and lower entry levels.

We make our money from mining, from selling our rack space. not from betting against it.

06/06/14 From only $2.80 per GH/s or $1.47 on Pre Order http://www.groupbitcoin.com/products/bitcoin-mining-contracts

Colocation
We now also offer a colocation service to everyone where you can host your hardware in our UK mining facility, the largest in the UK. From only £25 per ‘u’ per month it’s also great value, electricity at cost price 18p per Kwh (the UK average). High power density (96 amps at 230v per cabinet) which is needed for mining hardware and generally isn’t available elsewhere, raised access floor, contained cold aisle with powerful cooling and 24/7 security systems. Extensive internal physical barriers, man trap entry system, CCTV and 24/7 remotely monitored alarms, Perimeter fencing monitored by a security company which is locked at night. Backup internet connections and cat5e cabling which we make ourselves for each switch/cabinet. Platinum members are more than welcome to come visit our mine, a maximum of two people and government issued photo ID is required (Passport or Driving License) contact us for full details.

Our current offer is £25 per ‘u’ of rack space per month, pre paid for 6 months.

In the Bitcoin world at the moment nothing is quite as important as a companies legitimacy. We've been going since October 2013 and have seen many other sites and competitors come and go for various reasons. We're open and transparent with clear terms of service. Our systems are secure and our site cannot be hacked of it's coins as we currently do manual monthly payouts. Support by phone, email and live chat. We're a registered UK Limited Company No. 08826900. We are one of... if not the only Cloud Mining company to show pictures, allow customers to come visit us and the mine. Few people realized the work and the facility needed to run TH/s of mining power. The pictures on our site are our own, we don't use pictures from Google images of data centers.

Lots of our customers were scammed by things like Bitcominers who claimed to have almost 1000TH/s. In order to do this you would need your own sub station in the UK or a huge extremely expensive Colocation deal at a new empty data center, basically they weren't mining and never planned to.

Our site reviews are through Yotpo which verifies people through their FB/Twitter accounts http://www.groupbitcoin.com/pages/customer-reviews

Miners support the whole system without them Bitcoin couldn't exist.

Please do not buy anything from 'cryptocompanies' that do not offer payments in cryptocurrencies.

That isn't the case. We use Bitpay. We accept Bitcoin... Possibly posted on the wrong topic ?

Dont people just put their big rigs in the garage and then its got airflow and kinda away from the house, problem solved.

I recognise that location, I think its below London in an old air-raid shelter.   The long tube structure is because its parallel to the underground train system ?

I like your website Smiley

A couple Terraminers would heat up a garage in no time especially in the summer and in the UK we have what we call 'sheds' it's embarrassing lets not talk about it.

It's a mural of the entrance to a coal mine at the end of the server room, seemed relevant to mining and looks good.

The Bitcoin Foundation, folks! Convincing people they still have a inch of power.

It really won't be hard for anybody to take them down, since, dare I say it - they don't control anything. They're just idiots that make people want to label Bitcoin a different way. There's at least 20k+ Bitcoin users out there that don't want to follow their rules.

There's got to be a hell of a lot more than 20k now involved in Bitcoin
91  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Largest mining facility in the UK. on: May 27, 2014, 06:00:20 PM
Its pretty obvious the picture is some Dell server cabinets leading to a mine shaft.

Good luck with your launch, especially the colocation service. You forgot to mention noise is also a huge negative factor for home miners, just ask a Spondoolies Tech SP10 customer!!

Thanks for that, yeah all the big miners are all really noisy. The SP10's are great though, made Cointerra look silly.

Or just a low-fee way to get rid of stolen coins. Why not expose them now? They may have enough coin sitting around that they'll last years.

It's the prefect way to shift stolen coins, could be the Gox hacker if there ever was one  Roll Eyes

I don't get it either.

Should've taken better pictures of the cabinets, so we can see what's behind the doors more clearly.

It's a shame you don't get it. The pictures and topic title are rather self explanatory. Let me explain more so you can understand what you are looking at. This is our second premises we do Cloud mining and Colocation, there's some miners on the left for the Cloud mining service (Terraminers and Ant Miners) the rest is for Colocation space.

In terms of rack space this is the largest specifically made mining facility in the UK.

I hope this helps.

Justin,

The explanation helps, but the pictures don't do you or your service any justice.

Maybe higher resolution pics or better camera, perhaps?

The pictures were taken on a mobile phone, We are taking professional photo's for our site where we promote our service.

yeah, I pretty much agree with the OP. Bitcoin Foundation = shit

Who appointed them any ? It's supposed to be decentralized and open.

happy mining everyone.

Can't see clearly what is it, can you take a closer picture..

The clue is in the title.

Just so its clear for my addled old brain. Smiley

Could you give an idea how much it would cost to host a Spondoolies-tech SP10?

Thats: 1.25U @ 1350W

Including all relevant taxes etc.

Thanks

Hello There,

1.25u we could do for £25 per month for the rack space, covers cooling, internet and general costs.

The Electricity is 18p per Kwh the UK average. This would work out to £5.83 per day, £177.32 per month.

These prices would be pre paid for 6 months.

Regards,

Is this photoshop or photo-wallpaper? I'd like to see pictures of the server cabinets too

It's a wallpaper mural. A picture of the entrance to a coal mine. Seemed relevant to mining and looks cool.

The server cabinets are facing each other either side of this picture, this is the cold aisle.

Photoshop... ?
