Starting over here. Can one of you guys who upgraded the wallet with no probs post your step by step? Unusualfacts wants to give me some easy money so i gotta get this sorted : -)

Here we go:

Open new wallet. Go to File>New Walet> Save key1>Save key2
That'll give you your "Bay address" in wallet
Copy your address to notepad
Exit out of it

Go to C>Program Files>BitBay>bitbay-qt (old wallet)
Click on send and paste your new address
Exit

Go to C>Bitbay>Bitbay (new wallet)
Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and it'll show up.

OK:  I say the Eagles beat the Seahawks by more than ten points, but control the ball less than 40% of elapsed game time. 100 bay, 100 escrow. 7 day limit. Any takers?

Alright, I'm in for this.  Grin

If you guys want FUD to stop then stop quoting them please. They want attention and as long as you will provide it they'll keep coming back. Best solution is if you think someone is Fudding put them in ignore. It takes lot of time from Mod to delete those posts.

Now, if anyone is interested in smart contract NFL bet. Feel free to PM me.  Wink

Do any of the functions work? I downloaded it but it seems lots of buttons do nothing....

If you are not interested in BitBay then why are you downloading the client?

And again though, you really need to learn how to read. Smart contracts work. Image-based key backup works. Most everything else is just a placeholder for future functions. This was all stated clearly for everyone to see... why are you not reading anything before you post?

First let me say that I am invested.

He has the right to ask that question because it's important to know why and what the plan is to implement those features, keyword and most specialty when, a time frame, just like the late wallet that got pushed out with empty buttons.

If any of you have even opened up any programming device, you find out its quite easy to add a few empty buttons on top of an existing open source. Change colors names etc.

My problem is that we have a plethora of cheerleaders who cheer for the sake of cheering and retaliate at the first sign of simple questioning, is it a bad thing to be informed?

Thank you

Jesus fcking christ man..first do some research on halo, david, blackcoin and smart contract before spewing crap out of your ass. You sound like a moron. Fake buttons? LOL! I'm not trying to be dick about it but for fck sake please divest before you end up losing your money.

You have no clue about what is going on here and you obviously haven't read a thing about smart contract or FAQ. lol. What's the point of making yourself look stupid?

There is a document under new software folder which explains Halo. You will need to send coins to yourself since old wallet didn't have smart contract therefore it requires wallet.dat. In smart contract wallet.dat gets replaced by public & private key

2.1 Starting Your First Wallet
When you start a new wallet (file/new wallet) on Halo, you will be asked to create two private keys. The two private keys are similar to, but even safer, than having two locks on your front door. Each private key also has a corresponding public key.

The public key is a key that can be shared without revealing the corresponding private key. Think of them like "fingerprints" for your private keys. You can prove who it belongs to, but you cannot copy the key.

The private keys are your personal keys, each unique and both are needed to make any transaction happen. You have the ability to encrypt/password protect each key individually for double protection.

Each private key has a corresponding public key. This form of encryption is what allows Bitcoin in the first place. It allows two-way cryptography.  Your public keys are backed up inside your private keys. If you lose your public key ".share" files, you can still use your wallet. BUT, if you lose your ".private" key files you lose access to your account and your money.

I still like to now how to use my old backup from the old wallet.

How can I retrieve the coins from there to my new wallet?

Here is how to get started with the new client: you first of all need to create a new wallet. Go to File -> New Wallet. Every wallet has 2 keys in order to protect you from being hacked, it's a multi-signature wallet. You need the two keys to access your wallet. You can save them wherever you want: for example save the first key on your computer and the second one on a usb drive. After you have done that, your new wallet is created.
That's the first step indeed and good to see it explained here. Now I hope that someone knows how to import any old address.

You can just send it to your new address in new wallet from old one. It seems like both are installed and it doesn't install over the old one. It installs it in "C" by default and old one is installed under "Program Files"

When I clicked on "new wallet" and it created 2 private key and 2 share key. I'm not sure if that's an error. I just uninstalled everything and starting over again.

Yes I do like to know how to Import my old wallet.dat?

Here we go:

Open new wallet. Go to File>New Walet> Save key1>Save key2
That'll give you your "Bay address" in wallet
Copy your address to notepad
Exit out of it

Go to C>Program Files>BitBay>bitbay-qt (old wallet)
Click on send and paste your new address
Exit

Go to C>Bitbay>Bitbay (new wallet)
Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and it'll show up.

I just sent 2 coins to my new wallet and above method worked.

Few questions since there is no first time wizard.

Scan shows 100% and it has been like this since last 10 minutes. Is it how it supposed to look once it's done scanning?

It doesn't show my BitBay address and when I click on "copy to clipboard" button. It copies nothing

When I go to File>Open wallet. It looks for private key (.private,.jpeg).  I can't open wallet.dat. When I click cancel it asks for key2.

Chat points to Blackcoin by default

I'm not sure what are those keys.

When I exit and reopen the wallet I get following error. Not sure what it means but wallet opens fine.

You've done all the hard work so you can relax now but those are few things that I'm having issue with. :thumbs up:

The wallet is brilliant! Time to start taking this project seriously.

Thanks. As for the UI, we will work more on that. This UI is different from Halos UI since it has a sidebar so its going to go through a few evolutions.

Hey David. Great job! I'm loving the new wallet. Do I have to import my wallet.dat from old software? It's synching right now so may be it'll show up on its own once it's done.

Ok i have installed the wallet, why is there already a market section?  Cool Can we already use the market?

No, you can't use the marketplace because it's not launched yet BUT you can buy & sell using smart contract with ANYONE.

visit new site. It explains whole schedule.

Rule no.1 of Bitbay: You don't let FUD take over the thread.

Rule no.2 of Bitbay: You never release full info of people working in the project.

Rule no. 3 of Bitbay: You never tell anyone "exact" release time.

 Wink

These people are well connected and they're playing it safely. Releasing exact time will hurt Bay price because people will start buying and then dump it. The moment weak hands give up. BOOM! wallet is released.

Think about it:

Moderated thread.
No full info is given regarding people who're working in this project besides Dev.
Wallet gets released but no one knows the exact time before it gets released.

This is fcking beautiful and your investment is on right hands. Be glad about it.

As they said that wallet + website is coming at the same time. That means they have the wallet and probably doing final touch up on website before it gets released. Keep calm. Good things are coming.

Hi Everyone

Just a friendly reminder, profanity, personal attacks and fud will be moderated. We appreciate the non-quoting of trolls, it helps keep the thread clean.

We're just waiting on the final builds from David, and we will post : -)

If I take a look at the Rich List, I see that 3 BTC is peanuts and so I'm not impressed at all with a temporary downfall in price.

Yep. Piss in the snow.

150 satoshis ... what the hell

It's back at 200

Someone trying to cause panic to get hold of more Bay at cheap price. Notice how fast it got back to 200. Someone made a mistake or someone is really stupid that he decided to listen to strangers online and sell his bay on the day smart contract is getting released.
2619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay |Decentralized Marketplace|Smart Contracts|IoT Tech|Markets Open on: December 05, 2014, 03:56:07 PM
I got a quick quesiton about something

Q: Please explain how the escrow system will protect buyers & sellers in BitBay transactions.

A: The system is the revolutionary double deposit escrow. Both Buyer and Seller place deposits into a shared account. There is no need for an escrow agent. The deposits serve as the incentive to perform. Therefore theft and deception is impossible in these escrows. If those actions occur, the parties will not agree, the escrow will expire and they both lose. BitBay takes the profit out of theft.

Lets say I am the buyers, and I really hate a seller. He sends me my product and I just dispute it causing him to lose coins, i keep doing this to bankrupt him. How will you prevent this?

I could care less if I lose coins I got the product in hand.

Because you have to deposit TWICE the amount required to buy the product. So, unless you are just some psychopathic rich weirdo who doesn't mind spending double the amount for something just to torment the seller, this isn't going to happen very often because most people actually value their money.

Maybe if you would have not been giving me mis information? did you read it all?  Huh

I am done by the way good luck with your project but I see better choices at this point.

Hate a seller?

Why would you do business with someone you hate?

If it's a new seller ask him to deposit as much money as you're and if it's old seller well he won't do something that'll make you hate him. Would he? Unless offcourse he wants to ruin his reputation in marketplace in that case you're SOL and no one can save you.

Dispute only works when you're dealing with middleman. Imagine craiglist. How do you dispute something? You contact seller and that's that. If he says "no" then it's a no and you have to take a loss and you don't deal with him anymore. There is no one to blame but yourself.

The point is everything is on your hand and if something doesn't workout it's because of YOU & the seller. Whoever is invested most will lose more money and that's why both of you need to deposit same amount of money in escrow to keep the headache to the minimum for both of you.

BUT let me be honest and tell you that smart contract is still new (as someone already said it). It's something that has NEVER been done in crypto and we all are holding our breath to see what it brings. It's revolutionary and only time will tell what it's holding for everyone. It's "innovative" and smart way to do business without middleman in between who takes part of your earning.

Since you're done. Good luck to you as well and don't be upset because people are just doing their best to give you information from their perspective but truth is NOBODY knows what it'll bring. Everyone is "guessing" from what they've experienced in past.

As always. You should wait till project gets completed or at least till you heard something from one of the guy who is working with BitBay. Everyone else is just telling you their side of story and it won't be as reliable and it can be different from person to person depends on how they "feel" marketplace would work.
