1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: January 23, 2019, 09:20:33 PM
This would be amazing if not for the infinite supply and stupid emissions policy.

Just because it's design does not meet your specific use case does not make it stupid. Actually it is quite the opposite.

I am fairly sure it will fail due to emission policy and I really hope I am wrong.

Once the hype fails it will have a hard time to absorb 1 grin per second for the rest of its time especially in the first years - there will be little incentive to hold and to mine to secure the network except for idealistic reasons: Even if it somehow succeeds it will be in hands of a small group for the reasons given.

The argumentation that it is used for spending because inflation is high would imply that there a places to spend the currency. The reasons that crypto is not used for spending is not the inflationary policy but regulatory boundaries and that there are basically no places to spend them - I personally do not see why a new coin with a new protocol should change it  - it will compete against a 4 digit number of existing cryptocurrencies. It would even have a hard time if the emission policy would have been chosen wisely.

Nevertheless it is probably the most interesting project launched in the last two years and therefore I will follow it. The protocol is really innovative, the community driven decentralized and anarchistic mentality is probably the only way to launch a new cryptocurrency, the name is great and I fuckin love the logo Smiley but cryptocurrencies are first and foremost money with its specific characteristics and I think you fucked it up there big times. Nevertheless I hope to be proven wrong over time

7  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this Satoshi, and if so, what does his 1M btc mean for bitcoin's price? on: December 09, 2015, 11:30:57 AM
Well, Satoshi's had 4/5 years off to work himself up into a batty egomaniac. Stranger things have happened. Perhaps this fella will emerge at a conference in a full on Satoshi supersuit and sign a message from the genesis block while fireworks explodes from his arse.

do not get me wrong, I could not follow the whole discussion:

Is it not possible by market mechanisms to solve the problem? I simply believe that the market was wrong about the (expected) price. The market corrected (massively). The functunality and the contract of clams as well as just-dice usage are not affected are they?

http://www.coindesk.com/blockchain-factom-400-funding-11-million-valuatoin/?utm_content=buffer49f80&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

"The investment was provided by Kuala Innovations, which purchased a 3.64% stake in the company for 400,000 Seed Series Shares at $1 per share. According to a statement by Kuala, the investment gives Factom Inc a pre-money valuation of $11m."

can anyone explain me the difference between factom inc, factom and the factom foundation?

it would be funny as hell if factom inc (which I assume is an institutionalized entity using the factom network would be valued 13th times as high as the whole network).

it all does not really make any sense for me.

what is kuala BUYING there?

How do I withdraw my factoid from koinify? I cant see any send field in the wallet tab

Thanks, now if i can remember how much was the presale price 1 FCT/BTC

2000-1500 FCT = 1BTC (average 0,0005 FCT/BTC)

Going to be a wild ride soon in FTC. Larger buyers are trying to slowly vacuum the market around these prices. Big news on the way.

care to elaborate or just pumping?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: October 09, 2015, 03:20:46 PM
@FACTOM
By the way, what was the price in the private sale? This is not a question, it's a request. I need to know this because if it was like 5k satoshi per token I will immediately dump all my tokens.
People must be aware if this is a scam like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1158161.0
And I guess someones dumping below the pre-sale price because the private sale one was much lower.

even if this would be the case that some private sales were below the official price (it is btw. the same in ethereum and several other projects), they would be strongly disincentivesized to do so.

you can now dump less than 15000 dollar - it is a strange deal when you invested one million before in the presale.

I assume we have a panic on the market or the classic sale-to-buy-back-lower strategy - but I could also be wrong

who is selling below ipo price  Grin

this either the most stupid scam I have seen so far (due to promising idea) or the market is just going completely retard
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: October 07, 2015, 01:13:58 PM
This is the most interesting economical system I've seen so far in Crypto... if I understand it right. I have some questions but first I want to read more about it. Could be ingenious... like reality in virtuality - and improved. Will be exciting to see how the "price-finding" between market, entry-credits and back to market will work out. It's elegant and simple but very dynamic and complex at the same time.

well you are in the special situation that you understand what factoms' economic model is about while others (seem to) not understand the systems properly.

in my opinion it is the first system (maybe besides bitcoin) which could solve some real world issues in near time. it has its unique use case that needs decentralisation (see difference to other projects).

anyway I could be horribly wrong and this is a semi-scam or the team sucks - but the general idea is exciting and promising.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: October 01, 2015, 08:19:48 PM

Maybe bleutrade.com would add this coin. They figured out how to add ethereum based coins.

It's amusing to me that every other coin on this forum gets added to exchanges within days, yet FACTOM who has raised plenty of funds doesn't seem to be making any effort at all.

Not rushing is not the same as not making effort... look how far along ETH is years later. The scam/copy coins get listed in day. actual projects take time.

My point is more that there's apparently not a huge draw to FACTOM for exchanges to make it a priority.  That was not the case with ETH, once it was released, it was picked up by exchanges pretty quickly and they even implemented the ability to import keys.  I'm not seeing that here, I wish I were.

We have had exchanges reach out to us... quite a few, and we hope that over time Factoids will be available on some of them.
We understand the community likes exchanging and trading coins, we don't disagree with that, however we also have our own priorities which are concentrated on development of our platform.

so we can reach out for exchanges? I would contact  in this case busoni from poloniex. shapeshift is fine and cryptsy well... i think anyone serious in the altcoin market should reach out for poloniex.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 22, 2015, 09:42:06 PM
It's amazing that Moneroj are selling for 0.47 cents. Anyone reading this post 5 years from now will be wishing so hard they were in our spot.

Or, they will be glad they did not buy it. In 5 years, monero devs can be long gone and the coin be long dead.

jep - in that case they lost 47 cents per coin on a risky invenstment backed by a top-notch technology with the potential to a) fill a niche and b) become a new kind of asset class.....

we all have confirmation biases as well as well as endowment effects over here and I personally think that there are many cryptos, including bitcoin, that are vastly undervalued... but nothing is so oddly priced as monero.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 15, 2015, 09:04:52 PM
83k XMR invested in MoneroDice already, the day after launch. I expect a lot more to be invested in the coming weeks. This is very good news for the monero economy. That's all XMR taken off the market and limiting the supply. Not to mention the added use for XMR. Since dooglus launched just-dice v2 with CLAM the CLAM price is up more than 10x. Although it can't exactly compare, my guess is we'll see a rally taking the price out of the 0.002s at least as people are buying monero to invest.

I used to be an investor at just-dice back in the day, but now I am going to gather funds and invest in MoneroDice.

well it is a little bit different since clams was just another shitcoin in the game and monero was and probably still is one of the most interesting altcoins in the game.

nevertheless the structure is the same - dooglus is probably the most trusted person in gambling. fluffy is also well known and has a huge reputation. besides that gambling probably feels good since it is financing development Smiley .

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: September 10, 2015, 12:58:33 PM
In my opinion FACTOM will be the first killer app of crypto currency since it has a good business mode and team, let us wait and see.

then i really wonder why only $500k+ were thrown at the crowdsale..and augur has already raised almost $5M and growing :|

I have to admit that I was also wondering about that. The team was vocal and the project has a very interesting use case, but compared to the other crowdsales it is relatively small. I am also really really excited on augur, but the chances that it succeeds are in my opinion much lower than the ones of factom.

Well, the relatively small crowdsale is good for the guys who invested during the crowdsale.
