61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SilkCoin | PoW/PoS | Redesigned GUI & Wallet | Full Time Devs on: June 03, 2014, 11:36:38 AM
Ive just been reading on the Silkcoin website and they are 70% complete on implementing zerocash, so thats great news!

Yeah i saw that, i find it hard to believe though. They must be programming/maths geniuses if they are that close. The guys who invented zerocash aren't even that close haha.
About Anon features, we wanted to integrate zerocoin at first but the masterkey issue is just too big. But now with the upcoming release of darksend and all other devs on anon features we decided to wait to see how all this goes and integrate the fittest option. But be certain we'll integrate it in time, for the above reasons it's not the priority.
Tor integration will be released very soon, you can actually already connect through tor but we'll put a one click button because as always we want our wallet to as user friendly as possible.
Seems like the did not update the website or they have made some new progress....

Btw, just a crazy thought, did anyone already consider special access features when he/she is a proven holder of a certain amount. this can off course be tied to discounts or anything you can think of. The only labor one will have to do is to show that he/she is a holder and the programming should check whether the value on that address remains at least a certain threshold.

So for example
- Site showing certain info:
- Site has special features which are locked for general public.
- Once a new member signs up, the new memeber needs to put in his address
- The site checks the value (which needs to be 10.000 Noble for example).
- Then the user is requested to make 1 request and 1 addition to the address.
- The site follows the transactions and grants access to the special features as long as the balance does not go below a certain threshold.

I am just curious why this has not been done before. And also because there is talk of giving special discounts and stuff, so why not add an extra percentage if you are an identified holder for an X period.

But maybe it is just a bad idea, I don't know. (if not, I guess it will be copied very quickly:)
Hmm does sound like a good idea, so people won't misuse the extra discount by "buying coins at the exchange" and directly "dumping" them at the Marketplace. They need to hold on to an amount of coins in order to get the extra discount.

My first question however would be, how to check this or how to find out?

Maybe adjust it a bit, so they do not get a "discount" but get coins back as an "investment" into NobleCoin. So they will receive the 12% discount directly and the "extra" discount is only given back to you a day after you made the purchase. That would make it more "difficult" for people to buy/dump and seems more easy to implement.

People I have a question / idea, not directly related to Noble but still.

For crypto's it's mandatory that the mining keeps going / people keep connecting their online wallet for security. For the future that could be an issue, as the coins to be mined will be less and so less to earn bla bla bla.

So my question is, why isn't there a coin that uses a mobile wallet for "securing" the network and desktop software for mining / etc? To be more precise, it would only be possible to "mine" coins only using a desktop and the "mobile" wallet would only give you sort of POS advantage. There are going to be LOADSSSS of mobile / smart devices (think watches, mobiles, less strong pc's) that are always on, it would be able to benefit from this.

Please understand it's not about mining on these devices, it's more about keeping the network secure and healthy. So what am I missing, why is nobody taking this approach or giving it a go.....?

Hope this is not a really stupid question / idea Tongue

I believe one issue without mobile staking (PoS mining) is that you need to have your wallet unlocked with the full amount of coins in the wallet (stake power depends on coins in your wallet). I wouldn't feel secure with having a couple thousand dollars unlocked on a mobile device that is connecting to different networks all the time.

EDIT: I think people are working on "cold storage" minting. This would probably mean staking will be available without unlocking / connecting your staked coins directly.
Yes sort of like that (I was not directly thinking of POS but just any algo that would work), think it will change a lot and if we realise that we (read non nerds) won;t be using desktops for another decade....

NobleCoin @NobleCoin  ·  1m
The NobleCoin website, 'Steps' and the Marketplace will receive complete revamps May. Stage 1 for feedback: https://www.noblemovement.com/  #bitcoin

NobleCoin @NobleCoin  ·  1m
This will be followed up by professional PDFs/booklets for Noble, Steps & the Marketplace for investors, merchants and services. #bitcoin
Rofo GREATTTT Cheesy I know I have been "whining" about this for a while but really looks good and fresh  Grin Grin

However IF I may give my opinion, I would make the "banner" a bit less large (not so high) and there you can put links to the individual sections. So it would say something like "Commerce" " Community" "Philanthropy & Fundraising" "Transparency"

If it's possible, the banner should be clickable and be more simple with for example only the logo and the 4 sections as above there. Allowing somebody who visits the site to directly go to the section they want / need....

72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - **NOBL/$USD@VoS**MARKETPLACE/BULLION**45 CHARITIES/MERCHANTS** on: May 03, 2014, 12:13:13 PM
We all agree about the fact that our Noblemovement page (at this moment) is more targeted to crypto-community than to a real world. The information available is good for miners, investors etc., already aware of various coins and btc.

We also know that new landing page is being prepared by Rofo, but I suspect that in the "meantime" Rofo also works on the 2nd draft of the book, so we have no ETA for the site Wink

And my idea is, that we, the community, can create another site!

For example simplynoble.net (.com is already taken by the chinese numizmatics I think).
Then, maybe we can work on it together?  I mean, for example:

- I just bought a virtual server for 1 year for that sole purpose
- I'm at the point of buying the domain mentioned above, but I'm simply short of fiat right now and I will do this after 7th, my payday (only ~17$ for 12 months) OR if I find uot how to link the domain purchased somewhere else (with btc?) with the server..
- I can then (after some consultations with you guys) create a landing page, with information for the outside world (much simplier than on noblemovement), with big icons and not too much text. - What is a cryptocurrency? - What differs Bitcoin and "other" altcoins? - Why should I choose Noblecoin? - How can I support the community? Etc, with nice links to some of our FAQs or guides or sites/services/
- The "community" part would be the fact that I will give the access to the FTP folders on the server, that anyone of you will be able to create a subpage!

Thus, instead of talking about new features/content, we will create new features/content, and then show it to the community for approval, and after approved, the subpage can be made available to the public.

What do you think? Is it even possible?

My answer to all the questions is, let's do it and let's make it a success. I have written about the same idea, I think we should start splitting up the dev and the real world people's page. I thought that Rofo was busy with improving the landing page (as he wrote couple of reply's before) but seem the focus changed (no hard feelings). Also I do not want to hurt anybody's feelings or give anybody the idea we are splitting up or whatever (what QUARK coin had with the new page). So I didn't push my idea about a new landing page and focussed on a 'improvements list' page.

So if you need any help or better said, if I may help please send me a PM Cheesy always love that we get an initiative started. Maybe other people also want to help / get involved (maybe ask on IRC)?

btw I have been busy getting facebook integration getting worked for the www.mynobleact.com website but want to make some time for this first!

Hi Rofo. I am really sorry to hear that things aren't that easy reagarding the charities. Clearly my idea was just a nice dream. Actually NobleCoin needs a member/ contacts in the top of charities to get things arranged.

I don't think it's a dream at all, it just takes time/perseverance because of the general mistrust of alternative cryptocurrencies. Even BTC suffers it somewhat obviously but alts more so. I think as cryptocurrencies become more widespread and 'mainstream' it will get increasingly easier to get Noble listed wherever they are accepted, being on CoinPayments/incoming payment gateways and our positive history so far. It's not something we're shying away from!

Hopefully you are right. As far as I can see, our chances are the best when contacting charities that, like green energy ( allthough we aren't POS), don't like banks, don't like governments...etc.
I have also been in contact with several (large) charities and the response I got came down to 3 points:
1- crypto's are too risky for a large business like us;
2- you do not (yet) have the structure / level of professionalism that suits us;
3- the information about your "coin" is not made for us.

That was real life feedback (3 weeks) from some people I know very well and to be honest I have to agree with them.
1- All crypto's, including BTC, are still getting too much bad publicity (think Gox and other scams / hacks that give a bad image). We have to think from their perspective, they have been building their charity for years / decades. It took them a long time to get a good public image and now they finally have the trust from the public, they are not going to risk that for a couple of hundred $.
2- Any organisation that does have trust in crypto's will starts researching about NobleCoin. They have a dedicated department that advises on taking on certain services. So they will search the forum, history, etc and can conclude pretty quickly we lack a professional organisational structure. Questions they want to have answered are, how can you guarantee a certain level of professionalism for the future, how to guarantee future support, who is the head of the company, who is responsible for communication, what are upcoming releases, etc.. These questions do get answered on a certain level but that is simply not enough.
3- When we are accepted by a charity, people get interested in NobleCoin, so they click our link / visit our website. Currently our website does NOT look user friendly (as I / we have been saying before) so it will only leave questions for other organisations interested in the charity. Simply said, we should have a user friendly and informative website for people who are not familiar with crypto's.

Based upon their feedback and currently also my opinion we should focus on these points. These basic points should be fixed BEFORE we can actually get accepted by LARGER / INFLUENTIAL charity. This by the way is a baseline for each successful and trustworthy company / crypto (look to BTC, LTC and DOGE, they all have this fixed!).

Hope we can work on this so we are ready for future successes, these points are pretty easy and quickly to organise. On the other hand these points do ask for more dedication and more involvement from almost everybody.

Sorry guys had been out for a while with a stomach bug, long story short not fun. I had been bugging VoS for weeks now trying to get us added as I personally felt it was a crucial piece of us doing more public and non-crypto projects. I felt we needed a route to secure Noble with fiat and use that to our advance. With that being said, I think we need to start some local projects to really start building some steam in the non-crypto realm. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions or would like like to head a project, please let me know @ Projects@noblemovement.com. Thanks all!
Hello ZBBBB, Yes I really think a project page would be great as you talked earlier about. Allowing the more technical people to post what they are building and doing, also giving people more insight information about ongoing projects.

I have been thinking about creating a simple list of things that we "community" would like to improve / get involved. Not directly a project list but just small improvements / idea's, then we can rank these improvements (MoSWoC list) and link a reward to it. Things as a promotional video, write a clean text to explain NobleCoin, etc could be on there.

We could post it all on this site, seems to be supporting NobleCoin:    http://www.allcryptocoins.ca/

On the BC-forum, I saw this; www.blackcoinmap.com/ and really liked it. Could someone make that for NobleCoin. I will donate 200k Noble for the person that makes it ( from 4 to 11 may, I am on holiday, if the map gets ready in this week I can pay on 12 may). For someone who likes to make it; maybe some extra info can be found on BC-forum pages 1364/1365.

Further did I make 5 donations on Noblesteps, but not all charities have wallets added.
I will add 25k Noble to that bounty. Smiley

I'm in too, will also give 25k.

Shouldn't be too hard, just a database of all the suppliers locations, then pass it to someones map API.

Not that I am volunteering!

Would be cool to take a screenshot every x months to show the growth of Noble worldwide.
Shouldn't be too difficult to create, do you have other requests or things that would be nice on the site? Think this really is a good addition and quite easy to accomplish.

Hi, thanks for supporting the idea as well.
You asking me about other ideas, in no particular order, I wrote down some things that just came up.
Regarding other ideas; when I open http://earthcointalk.org/what-is-earthcoin/ for instance, I see a nice video where things are explained. This is something I miss on https://www.noblemovement.com/. Newbies will google NobleCoin and arrive at https://www.noblemovement.com/. This is the place where we have to steal there attention. A clear and classy video, first of all referring to another video called something like;  "explanation of Noble coin to newbies" then an explanation of our ideas, our plans for the future, how to get NobleCoins, our merchants and at last an explanation of the https://www.noblemovement.com-site itself would be very good, I think. Further might a restyle of the frontpage be a good idea; I don't like the white background so much.
Then about the text, the first text on the site a newbie is going to read is this;
"NobleCoin is a peer-to-peer payment system and digital currency similar to Bitcoin and was released in 2014 by crypto-enthusiast ‘Rofo’ and the NobleCoin Team. NobleCoin uses cryptography to control and secure the creation and transfer of wealth. It is fast and secure with transaction times of under 30 seconds. A 1 block re-target protects NobleCoin from multi-pools (essentially making it very similar to Kimoto’s gravity well)".
How on earth does he know where we are talking about?Huh
A simple introduction video, has to something like this;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um63OQz3bjo
or like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrNnrvet7Ao

Like I said, just a couple of things that got my attention.
Yes I totally agree and I have this "simple" idea to create a page with all "improvements" we see as a community. I know that ZBBBB is working on a project website / tracker, this however in my opinion is for larger changes or with more impact. Simple initiatives from the community make this coin grow to it's real potential, for example there have been several requests for a change of the landing page. Why don't we get all our opinions bundled, work out the idea and give the feedback to Rofo.... Sounds like how it should be to me; there is request for demand, somebody translated that to functional requirements and somebody designs it.

So let's bundle all improvements, create a MOSCOW list (must-should-could-won't haves) and then get rewards for each one (think we still have some coins left from the last meme and video contest). I saw this website, http://www.allcryptocoins.ca/ in my opinion REALLY nice siite, it could be used for posting our MOSCOW list.

We could or anybody could just pick up an improvement from  that list and get rewarded. Might not be picked up directly but when we get extra attention again, who knows what might be picked up. Hope it is clear that I do NOT want to create a separate development team or whatever, just give everybody a "platform" to pick up improvements make it as simple as possible Cheesy

Do you think 200 sat is even possible?
The question is, why would it not be possible?

An addition to my reply, think I can safely state that we (the community) are not so busy with this question. We of course do want the coin to represent a value, however we are first focussing on things we think are more important (building a stronger coin, community and adding merchants). This focus will (hopefully) add value to the coin and let people see we are driven by other things than (short term) value!

Coins Source did a news coverage of My Noble act 4 days ago: http://www.coinssource.com/noblecoin-launches-noble-act-price-jumps/

We've also have done a full review and scoring of noble: www.coinssource.com/crypto-coins/noblecoin

The score it received makes it in the top 40% of all alternative coins, which is a big feat. Keep up the strong support, we will review your score this weekend.
Hmmm it seems the score was reviewed before we were on mintpal and the recent attention Cheesy So it should be rated (a lot) higher after the weekend, we "only" lack on the COIN innovation part. However we are innovative on other area's when it comes to setting a standard (transparency) and now with the noble steps we are (again) doing something unique. So we will have to wait after the weekend to see the reviewed score Wink

^ Agreed. I am going to make this a goal of mine to get updates out more frequently. For the structure, we should probably try to get something a little more solidified out to the community to know who of the ambassadors are doing what and what they are working towards. I will also try to do get something together and get it out for everyone. And as I said before, if anyone wants to take on more of an active role, I personally love an addition to the team and additional insight. Different people always offer a new perspective on things, so the more the merrier in my eyes.

100% agree. Let the community know, what's the structure, so they know who is talking. Let them see, we are not a bunch of lost guys, doing just something. Show everyone reading here, that Noble Coin is a hard working  well structured community. Try to do it in a way that readers get excited. Community will grow, new members will come and contribute, merchants will be interested quicker to do business with us.

I agree we can definitely be more active in our announcement thread keeping our community up to date and we plan on doing so in the future.

Sometimes it may not look like we are doing a lot, but we are constantly discussing new ideas to continue building on NobleCoin's success. I am the Ambassador mainly responsible for Social Media and eSports promotions for anyone who hasn't had the chance to meet me. I've been around since NobleCoin's inception along with many of the other Ambassadors. I have a background in Business working as a corporate consultant for one of the biggest companies in the world. We are all very approachable guys so if anyone ever has any questions or concerns you can always send us a PM here on Bitcointalk or come join us on webchat.freenode.net in our #noblecoin channel.
First of all, ZBBB Congratsss with the baby and secondly an "apology" for my sort of destructive post earlier, I meant all the comments only for the best of the coin. By the way good to hear about the people involved with NobleCoin, even better to see you are all sticking around Wink Cheesy

The post from ontopicplease about to aproach the coinmarket as a company suits what I have been lacking. I think Rofo has been doing a more than great job but he simply cannot be master in finance, design, security, communication etc... So I hope the role of each ambassador will evolve into a specialism with Rofo having the overall view. Same as in each " large" company, the structure gives people the room / space to focus on their own specialism also it's an easier way to contact somebody.

Besides this, what is your opinion about the idea to freshen up the website? Make it more simply and marketing focussed and putting the "mining information" a bit more in the background? In my view most miners get the information from the www.cointweak.com site or other calculators that give the needed info in an overview.

ps I do not have a real skillset to help but am always available for a brainstorm session or better said discussion Tongue
