Hey guys just found this coin.Read through most of thread. This coin seems awesome and the developer seems talented from what he says he will do.Is there more info on the developer or a bio?I want to invest but recently i lost a crap load of bitcoins on libertycoin. Alot of promises were made but nothing happened. I am also interested in the anon technology, is it similar to dark send?, where can i find more info about it?

Referring back to page one of this thread, is the wallet web site functional yet?  Pointing a browser to http://127.0.0.1:1666 or http://127.0.0.1:16666 does not bring up the website.  Port 16666 DOES go through many loops attempting to connect and then returns "connection reset."  My Windows Firewall is disabled BTW.

Pretty sure you need lastest Mac version. It has been discussed before if I remember well but mac version is not very optimized yet better go for linux or win.

Tried to compile it from source for my version, it failed. I will try to fix it.

I thought it would be interesting to discuss which anonymous feature would be the best to implement into silkcoin, there are a few options:

Cryptonote
https://cryptonote.org/
whitepaper: https://cryptonote.org/whitepaper.pdf
summary: https://cryptonote.org/inside.php

Personal feelings:
-Only drawback is the extra bloat on the blockchain but i am not 100% sure about this, I am just judging from bytecoin.

Darksend
https://www.darkcoin.io/
whitepaper: http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/DarkcoinWhitepaper.pdf
Summary: Mix of conjoin and stealth addresses built into the decentralized network

personal feelings:
-Good but slows down transaction times and not 100% anonymous because it just aims to mix coins. But it may be enough for anonymity.
-This could be the easiest and quickest way to add anonymity into silkcoin

Zerocash
http://zerocash-project.org/
whitepaper: http://zerocash-project.org/media/pdf/zerocash-extended-20140518.pdf
Summary: http://zerocash-project.org/how_zerocash_works

personal feelings:
-This is the most anonymous method, people argue that the masterkey problem is a major concern but you can use multi-sig to make sure no one person is in charge of destroying the key.
-It is also bleeding edge mathamatics and has not been implemented in any coins yet but it could be a good thing for silkcoin. They could be one of the first to be using the zerocash technology.

I would go with zerocash, and i think we should embrace it along with other coins, im not sure if blackcoin will be using zerocash or not, but I think its the only option unless we develop another technology from the ground up.

Darksend has not even been proven to work reliably yet (they have had forking issues), Cryptonote is excellent, but we would have to create a brand new blockchain, and that is not just an option.

Zerocash is soon to be launched for bitcoin, and i expect other currencies very soon.

Everyone when you have a chance, take a look at our new introductory video into SilkCoin

Introducing Operation Shock & Awe

What is Operation Shock & Awe?

Operation Shock & Awe is the internal name for a social initiative spearheaded through a series of giveaways from various outlets. The aim of operation shock and awe is to do a blitz of SilkCoin and get as many people as possible to hear about SilkCoin, download our wallet, learn about our features and in the process get listed on further exchanges.

How will Operation Shock & Awe work?

Operation Shock & Awe is a 2-part initiative.

Part 1, which is currently underway and will continue all the way through to the 2nd PoW phase, will be used to spread the word around about SilkCoin and in turn get listed on MintPal. This will provide us some stability and foundation going through to the 2nd PoW phase.

Part 2, which will collerate with the start of the 2nd Pow phase, will be a full on social media blitz to get as many people as possible to hear about SilkCoin. We already have some big crypto names in social media lined up ready for part 2. The names of these social media accounts will be anounced at the start of part 2.

Who are the current participants on Part 1?

All Crypto All Day
CryptoSandwich

Between the 2 above Twitter accounts, they have a following of over 36 000 people. SilkCoin will be tweeted about daily to each of these 36 000 followers.

CryptoSandwich is in charge of our MintPal voting campaign that can be found here : http://bitcoingarden.tk/forum/index.php?topic=541.0

Each voter will receive 15 SC per vote. There are additional prizes which include a 15 000 SC grand prize to the person who votes the most along with 2 500 SC prizes each for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place voters

What can I do to help?

1. Vote for us on MintPal and post here : http://bitcoingarden.tk/forum/index.php?topic=541.0 to claim your 15 SC rewards
2. Retweet this : https://twitter.com/CryptoSandwich/status/470789069430333443 with the handle #silkcoin
3. Retweet all #silkcoin tweets from All Crypto All Day
4. Tweet what you like most about Silkcoin with the handle #silkcoin

*This is the first of many announcements to come.

Oh that rules out cryptonote. Out of the 2 zerocash gets my vote aswell.

I'm pretty sure that zerocash will released on its own altcoin from what i have read. (zerocash is the new project, zerocoin is the previous project meant to be built on bitcoin)

Ive just been reading on the Silkcoin website and they are 70% complete on implementing zerocash, so thats great news!

Yeah i saw that, i find it hard to believe though. They must be programming/maths geniuses if they are that close. The guys who invented zerocash aren't even that close haha.
About Anon features, we wanted to integrate zerocoin at first but the masterkey issue is just too big. But now with the upcoming release of darksend and all other devs on anon features we decided to wait to see how all this goes and integrate the fittest option. But be certain we'll integrate it in time, for the above reasons it's not the priority.
Tor integration will be released very soon, you can actually already connect through tor but we'll put a one click button because as always we want our wallet to as user friendly as possible.
Seems like the did not update the website or they have made some new progress....
