I have some bad news, I have confirmed with a miner that used to use CM until end of last week that ROI was down when CM was not hitting Guldencoin. So Guldencoin is what make or break CM now.
Maybe suggestion of reducing block time might work but CM will always be there to get easy blocks. I don't think much can be done unless we become next Doge or litecoin so more efforts to keep going mainstream. Then a lot of dedicated miners. Another option is merged mining like Dogecoin has?
Terks CM is the matriarch of switch pool despite what he says when his pool was not hitting the chain for 2 days the other switch pools had lot less effect. This morning is back to 50% and needs NLG to survive for his business. It quite a sad situation.
@ny2cafuse - What do you think about Guldencoin getting listed on coinwarz and even cryptsy? Have more multipools in compeition with CM? Would that make things worse off as bigger spikes in hash rate or would it also maybe make it less profitable for some of these jump pools to carry on hitting our chain because there is more competiion for the easy blocks. We might be Terks cash cow because he literally has no competition with other multipools but I also worry that too many jump pools coming in at one time to get the easy blocks might spike the difficulty. What do you and other miners think about giving CM some competition? |

Jump pools thinking they doing us a favor by hurting the dedicated miners who mine NLG and actually care about the coin. Now I have heard everything... Jump Pool Owner: " Let me do you guys a favour by sniping all the easy blocks and getting 10 times more profit and exploiting the miners who keep the blockchain running smooth" On a positive note this did prove that Guldencoin has a very solid base and community because this type of abuse would of killed off a lot of other coins or forced them to go POS. |

We have another multipool hitting the chain so the sells are coming through now but I do agree that the digi change is better overall and more profitable for dedicated miners.
Having time to look at the data for the last few days, I would say we are better overall, but we could get better. I know someone said /GJ wasn't going to tweak DIGI any further, but I would like to suggest one change. @Fuse, I guess not many people have seen it then. [edit] I'm a bit surprised that all this "profit" for miners on CM was only from NLG.  [/edit] Well the +- 40% price increase in Guldencoin recently shows the damage CM was doing, I think NLG was their profit and CM used other coins that were breaking even or just below the profit line to supplement when the hard blocks were being mined for NLG. Added to this fact that Guldencoin is the truth, it has real buyers that want to have coins. NLG only had one major pump(for about a day it was above 1200 and peaked around 1900) and the price is stable currently at about 1/3 of the peak price and we about 10 times higher then the bottom price with a ever growing supply. Compare this to coins like CANN that was pumped on some news over 13 times the current price it's trading at and this is far from the worst case scenerio as CANN is still going. We have another multipool hitting the chain so the sells are coming through now but I do agree that the digi change is better overall and more profitable for dedicated miners. |

From my time in Cryptos I don't think even 10% of currencies ever delivered on their IPOs, massive respect to the Guldencoin team for pushing this one through... I can't believe it myself. Kudos! |

Yes, I did read this thread. I never read the Guldencoin-team mentioning they spoke to Terk, only you mentioned contacting him a few times. But you and your many mates are also running a miningpool. You have no commitment to the Guldencoin other than making as much money as possible. You confirmed by going kaboomm and threatening to dump NLG if it would change to something that could not be mined as you like it to be mined. So I am sorry, but I am not putting my trust on you for the NLG future success.
I don't see Terk adding any value to the coin, yet Fuse has even produced physical coins for NLG, I trust these guys will put even more services forward for NLG when the price goes up to keep adding value. Can you tell me one coin where a mining pool operator/team cares so much about a coin? |

If digishield or no digishield means the choice between "a stuck network for long periods of time" or "a miningpool mining most coins and selling at low price", I'd prefer the latter.
By the way, it is not really the majority of the community, but a small group of max. 15 very active NLG community members with shared interests and views who are pulling the strings in NLG decision making. Maybe that is the best way, who knows. So digishield it is, let's hope it works out the way intended.
Digishield appears to be a lot more widely used then dgw for normal scrypt coins if you do a search. DGW seems good for x11, x13 coins. |

Community Alert!!! Digishield is not going to be a magic bullet against Clevermining. In fact, expect network difficulty to hit new record highs and be 'stuck' for long periods of time. If Clevermining hits the NLG network with 10x or 20x hash-rate of the base nethash, the difficulty will hit 10x or 20x in a blink. Digishield deals very aggressively with hash-rate spikes, and when Clevermining exits, taking the hash-rate with them, the network is going to be 'stuck' at a very high difficulty. This Digishield doing its job, reacting quick enough to make it unprofitable to attack the network with high hash-rate. No one knows how Clevermining or its profitability algo will react to this change. Terk may continue to test the network looking for a way to get coins at a discount. Depends on the tenacity of the Clevermining team as to how many cycles the network has to go through till Clevermining discovers how to best handle the changed diff algo. Do not expect Clevermining to go quietly, NLG has been their cash cow for many months. I am expecting new record highs of difficulty and some long, grinding sessions before the network achieves equilibrium. What I don't expect to see is false difficulty lows and Clevermining minting the majority of the blocks in a 24hr period by attacking. If Terk decides to park 20x hash-rate on the NLG network for a few days or weeks, Clevermining will own the NLG network by brute force, but not at a discount as they have been. The NLG dev team and community need to have realistic expectations of the upcoming difficulty algo change and the above is what I expect to happen. Clever taking >50% and long block times.... or Clever only causing long block times. I would prefer the latter. It's a real pity the simulator is not ready but I can see why you advised to decrease the block times to 75 seconds as it would reduce the long block times by 100%. I welcome the change but as for expectations: Once the price goes over 1000 you can expect Clevermining to have over 50% of the hash again BUT as long as they on a more even playing field then they currently are now. I doubt anyone minds that they mining Guldencoin the problem is they not playing fair and have caused dedicated miners to move elsewhere. Once things are more fair I think we will see more dedicated miners come back and stay for the longterm. The above should be the most important requirement about the change and not whether clevermining still mines Guldencoin, in fact we need clevermining to sell coins as cheap as possible for more people to get in at good prices and also contribute to this AMAZING community. |

What a dump fest on Bittrex in the past 12 hours, and Clevermining is not even responsible for it. Looks like someone is trying to put the price down.
Ps. Clevermining sells are the ones with the rounded figures, so 2000 NLG 5000 NLG 7000 NLG etc.
You can push the price down and buy back cheaper because clevermining will sell at any price on bittrex. So it's a very smart way of getting more NLG. . However when the algorithm is fixed this won't be so easy anymore as clevermining in theory will be mining a lot less Guldencoin. This is why the push to get this algorithm changed from the way I see things. |

My vote goes to Geert Johan of Guldencoin. Every service that has been implemented has been built from scratch and not copy and paste, even the whole block explorer ecosystem that has been built up. He is also working on a Simulator to test against massive swings in hash rate so other cryptos can also use it to determine what changes will be best for them instead of just using what other coins have done.

is there any news about the simulator yet, will it be up and running this week?
Another 2 months or so, but with all these other updates coming in the last week the simulator has taken a back step in focus and also litesires idea of keeping the buys under 400 is working until the algorithm change takes place. So Kudos to the community and users for listening to that advice from litesire. investeerder, please don't talk when you don't know for sure!, this is what separates us from allot of other people. I know you want to see faster progress, so does everybody!. You are welcome here, just don't piss people off, and then say sorry afterwards by giving compliments. Not very productive by the way! I am just trying to lower peoples expectations, not trying to cause FUD. The less pressure the dev /GeertJohan has the better and can release a solid product. Tomorrow it's exactly two weeks ago Guldencoin announced that the simulator would probably up and running within two weeks. My curiosity was talking, not my non existing too high expectations. I am sure they have a reason for the delay since it will be a first for cryptos. Perhaps it can't be done just as long as they keep communication going. |
