Can you extrapolate on what mining abuse means? The pools are getting to many coins and dumping? Or they can mine the blocks too easily?
One particular multipool, Clevermining, is hitting 10-20 low difficulty blocks in a row in the span of 20 seconds or so, and leaving us with a high difficulty block that is taking longer to crack by the legit NLG pools. We crack the block an hour later, the difficulty drops back down, and Clevermining hits it again. Clever doesn't pay out in NLG, so everything they mine is sold for BTC. Being that they are mining 90% or more of the blocks right now, all those blocks are going to exchanges for a sale. -Fuse Clevermining with this type of business would of killed off 99% of the scrypt coins in this situation. Guldencoin is holding resilient with this abuse. At the end of the day Clevermining has no emotional attachment to NLG and is pure business. Whether he kills NLG or not is not his concern but it might end up that Doge and litecoin will be the only ones he will be able to mine. With the above being said he did reduce the hash against the coin and I am sure he will do it again because if NLG fails due to his multipool it will also hurt his business. Right now there isn't many scrypt coins to mine that are doing well.

To you Dutch folks, I just want to say you should be very proud of the Guldencoin team for what was done last night. I have been involved in cryptos for over 2 years and I have never seen such a smooth transition that was done last night. Your devs are top quality so as a community you guys should really get behind them and take this coin mainstream.

Absolutely Stunning job, you don't know how many times I have seen coins fuck this up. You guys make me proud!!!

Hello everyone, DGW3A few days ago I posted that we were thinking about changing our difficulty re-adjustment algorithm from KGW to DGW3. The main reason for this upgrade is the swing in blocktimes caused by jumping miners. I promised to give an update today. Meanwhile, there has been some discussion about other methods that could also be beneficial to Guldencoin. BTMs long coin maturity is an interesting idea that might make it into the coin when more discussion has taken place. For now we believe the change from KGW to DGW3 is the first thing we need to do and we hope it will be enough to stabilize the network blocktime. Two other things have popped up that need to be taken care of. Protocol version revertWhen KGW was added to Guldencoin, the protocol version was used to reject old software from the network. This means that the protocol version is not in sync anymore with Litecoin and Bitcoin protocols. We would like to have it in sync again as this will make development easier and documentation for the given versions in the other coins will still apply to Guldencoin that way. Version 1.3Main changes are DGW3 and the protocol version revert and because of these changes, we need to perform a hard fork in the network. The new software version number will be 1.3 and it wont be able to connect with pre-1.3 software. Updating your wallet is mandatory! The planTimes are CEST timezone (UTC+0200) Thursday 25th of September we will cause a hard fork. 18:30 we will start by shutting down the seeds one by one. 19:00 the last seed will be shut down, the last block known by this seed will be the last KGW block. 19:01 We will hard code the next block number into the new software and start compilation of the guldencoind (software ran on the seeds). 19:05 We will start compiling the guldencoin-qt wallet for Windows and Mac OSx. 19:15 First seed is started with the new 1.3 software, other seeds follow one by one. 19:16 We test the guldencoin-qt wallet with the new network 19:17 New software source code is pushed to Github. 19:20 The new guldencoin-qt wallet is published on the website and available for download. We will keep everyone updated about the process through a topic in the forums. Exchanges, payment providers, etc.We advise operators for automated systems to suspend processing the chain 2014-09-25 18:00:00 until the new wallet (v1.3) has been installed. We will approach as many operators as we can to inform them of these plans. /GeertJohan The Guldencoin Team Topic about this on the Guldencoin forum: https://forum.guldencoin.com/index.php?topic=548.msg4668Now we know what to expect. Good detailed info and it seems carefully planned. German, english, dutch and french altcoinsection updated with the info: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=752648.0https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=759915.0https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=738997.0https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753251.0I think DGW3 is a good way to go and a bold move. The way this update is handled will make or break the coin and show confidence to the rest of the world that NLG has got a great team behind it!

I am highly impressed with the discussion taking place here. The dev definitely has looked at all angles and the miners are coming back with more suggestions. Really I feel Guldencoin is in great hands here!

What's the word on Apples acceptance of guldencoins iOS?
I believe the team is going to do digishield update first before anything else happens for the coin. So it's a dead coin until October. Good time to get in cheap.

Nice! I do feel the community is generally slacking a bit at this front. Is there something unclear to how you can get a friend or family member to sign, or do you guys mostly don't want to? The one thing with petitions is generally only +-10% of the people bother to sign them no matter how hard you try, then in the crypto sphere people want to keep there true identity a secret even though NLG does not advocate secrecy, it is amazing that close to 200 signatures have already been signed and only into the 2nd day. Just something else to mention is that about 5% or less are using the forums/ann etc that actually own NLG. The last count of DUTCH people claiming was over 1200 about a month ago. This is Dutch citizens ONLY. It also excludes all the non Dutch folks like myself that also support this coin. You would be close to 2000 signatures already if you could reach out those people that already have NLG.

I take it while the team is focused on updating to Digishield there is a good possibility we won't see any new merchants for Guldencoin this month. Another option is getting onto coinpayments as I posted 10 days ago. They include the top 3 - 5 coins. I won't put a vote in until I hear peoples responses to this and if they would use any of the merchants on here. Coinpayment vote has started. I have purchased twice from 2 different stores with dogecoin before and since I am US based I would use / spend NLG there, they only take in cryptos and store owners can decide to keep them or sell them for btc on the exchanges. There is no conversion to US or Euro after when the order has been placed. I will put in a vote later, also don't try voting more then once unless you coming from a different IP, using a different and valid email and sending coins from a different wallet address. They have good checks in place. https://www.coinpayments.net/votehttps://www.coinpayments.net/vote-resultshttps://www.coinpayments.net/help-charity-vote

Looking for the coin that will have high correlation for going up when Bitcoin goes down, and why.
In your shoes, I would buy NEM and NXT. Surely both of them are the best examples of the second generation which probably will have the power, the support, the technical attributes to survive most of the altcoins. My personal favorite with the most potential is NEM: http://motherboard.vice.com/read/this-cryptocurrency-doesnt-want-to-beat-bitcoin-it-wants-to-beat-the-economyWell, in the altcoin-section are many other coins, too. Maybe we all make a huge mistake with our chosen altcoins. You can't get a guarantee for everything. But in case I could just choose 1 altcoin, it would be NEM. +1 if you like centralization where you making the NXT and NEM devs super rich , I would go for these two.

the price is only doing down because the Bittrex wallets are disabled most of the time today
How do miners get their funds on bittrex then? NLG wallet was avail, btc and ltc wallets were down for most of the day.

One or 2 big Dutch investors could easily buy up every single NLG (1.7 Billion coins in 40 years) at 1000 Sat without them even noticing. That would be unhealthy for the currency...
Why would said "investors" put money in something that will end up losing value due to their own actions? No sane investor would ever do something like that. I am just saying big money hasn't even entered into the NLG market yet. How would you know that they aren't in the NLG market yet? The way down would be an ideal situation to start buying slowly, in the process this would slow the crash to stable support levels, something we're seeing at the moment. 100%, I warned people about 2 or 3 weeks ago that the price was climbing too fast, if it goes under 600 I will be getting friends to buy into the coin as then I know it's at great value. Buying in at 1900 was great value if you in a position to keep your coins for 2-3 years.

From now on I am only buying NLG on the weekends. Last weekend it dipped to 850 and it will do the same again this weekend. Best time to get in cheap!
Guldencoins price will slowly rise in time until the first block reward halving which is a long way away. I believe there will be half the coins mined out when this happens. At this point if user base continues to grow at the current rate and merchants joining at same pace as August when the block reward halving does occur or just before is when you will see you biggest price increase. Over 576000 coins being produced a day could mean the price going back to 500 or even 100 if buyers dry up. For this to occur the coin devs would need to be silent for over 2 months.

If anyone is interested in buying some NLG with LTC, let me know. I'd like to diversify a little more, and I don't want to drop the prices on the exchanges and deal with the trading fees.
Possibly interested in trading 100k-150k if the price is right. PM me if you're interested.
-Fuse
If you only planning to release 100k or even 150k, the price will still remain above 980 which is not bad and I know a lot of people are wanting to get some coins, so you would be doing them a favour.

Guldencoin is very stable in terms of price after the rise devoid of PnD . This is really good news for the currency.
|
|
|
...but with people getting payed end of the month there might be some more buy support.
Don't think it will take that long before big buyers step in. Valid point, a lot of people tell me they wish they got into bitcoin early... NLG might be another people wish they got into early.

Such golden wow!
No one has mentioned the moon word. So we still good!

Fuck this coin never stops!

The guldencoin market has been in a very close range this last few days and as expected lots of support around this level , no news will mean a drop in price to the low 800 level we saw over the weekend, more news and we will see a rise to 1200 sustained.

Fellas pls, shall I wait on purchasing nlg or not really? I feel like the market is stabilising for now, maybe I should acquire some nlg's right now?
Tough call, I don't even know myself.

Problem around hash spread is getting worse last days.
Actual figures: Date NLG Received by Gf7wGA Blocks found % of 576000 2014-09-01 336.000,26530000 336000 58,3% 2014-09-02 412.002,55330000 412000 71,5% 2014-09-03 461.001,62930000 461000 80,0% 2014-09-04 474.000,98565000 474000 82,3% 2014-09-05 497.001,14100000 497000 86,3% 2014-09-06 477.001,76475005 477000 82,8% 2014-09-07 518.001,02310000 518000 89,9%
Apart from a possible 51% attack, there's another problem: you see that other miners quit because Gf7wGA cheats by mining only at low diff.
In the event NLG goes into top 20 marketcap(and hold) the network hash will increase to a point where miner Gf7wGA will have less of an effect, this must be motivation for the team and community to push harder for updates, I don't think the current pace of updates can be kept up personally but even if September and October is half as good as August, the coin will be above Feathercoin in marketcap by middle of November. I disagree, the coin should be top 20 already but it just needs more attention now... people who take the time to see what has been done for the coin instantly see the potential.
