181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Finally got my first rig on: March 30, 2017, 04:26:03 PM
Is that a single 700 W PSU for your rig?
Sorry son, won't make it.
No, it is 2*700 PSUs, on the picture you can see only the first one.

6*470 Saphire 4g
h81 btc 2.0
ram 4 gb
g1840
2 psu hyper 700w

If you dont have this you should buy:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261934504230  (to connect/sync both psu)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131930469208  (great quality and cheap power switch)
Hi,
Thanks!
Can I directly plug first psu with mobo and 2-3 cards and the other 3 cards with the second one without using any additional gadget? I do not want to safe 3$ into buying a split, but it will take time to order and deliver, I want to start mining now
Thanks
I've heard about many people using directly 2 PSU without any sync for months, so I think that you are fine.
Just be sure that the same PSU powers both the riser and the GPU
182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI RX470 (Samsung) IS BEST PROFIT for gpu mining 29.2 MH/s on: March 30, 2017, 04:23:46 PM
sorry to say you pal but elpida is way better than samsung at the moment on rx 4xx series

130w from wall  -100mv  1230 core 2100 mhz mem 30.6mhs

It depends Smiley

Hynix 4G, core 1135, mem 2100, 30.5Mh, yes that's -100 on the core  Wink

With custom handwritten timings, right?

184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Current hash rate with R9 Fury Nitro? on: March 30, 2017, 04:11:21 PM
6 x fury's
900/500mem -96mV Win 10 15.12
ZEC = 2360ish @ 879ish watts to the wall (Optiminer)

That's a very good result, even though they are old cards they are performing very good.
Why no-one consider them when they build their rigs?
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Laptop mining question on: March 30, 2017, 04:09:51 PM
You can mine from your work without anyone noticing....
If you are scared about it just tunnel the mining traffic through your place at home and tell them that's a synch of a NAS or something, since you use a secure connection that have to believe on your word. If they complain just stop doing it.
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI RX470 (Samsung) IS BEST PROFIT for gpu mining 29.2 MH/s on: March 30, 2017, 09:30:48 AM
Samsung is not the best, I have 3 Elpida 470s dual mining at 30-31.

Yeah, but what about power usage?
Usually it's damn high
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashrate RX 470 on: March 30, 2017, 09:23:16 AM
7 x MSI RX 470 Gaming X 4GB
Al Hynix Memory

Using custom 1625 strap. All mods done in the bios and used on all cards except 1, which I had to "degrade" slightly.
1160 watts at the wall.

This is a nice first try, but you can decrease the wattage dramatically. You can have similar hash rates with 800W
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Suggestion mining setup on: March 29, 2017, 03:47:31 PM
Hi guys, sorry for my english  Wink
I will retry mining after 2 years of nothing in crypto world, i have a bit to invest i need motherboard, cpu and gpus, i already have Ram and Psu.
For the motherboard i'am unsure for the asrock z97 anniversary, is ok?
for the Cpu i think one cheap is ok, one Pentium lga1150 dual core?
3-4 Gpu but actually i don't know what has better hash/watt, many people suggested me rx 480 4Gb, i accept suggestions.
Very thanks Wink

Yeah man, you are doing good!

This mobo is good, a shitty CPU is enough for every major coin. If you use claymore it's practically not used, it different with other miners.

The debate about 470 or 480, 4gb vs 8gb is always around, it will never end. Every one has pros and cons, but the different is kind of small, so do not waste too much time on it.
p.s. My personal advice is 470 4gb
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum end of POW phase estimation on: March 29, 2017, 03:45:15 PM
Ethereum has a buildt in difficulty bomb that will remove all mining eventually. It's in the code, and to avoid it they need to hardfork..

Yeah, that's clear.
Do you know what this bomb will go off?
190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PC Shutting down HELP on: March 28, 2017, 09:34:16 PM
Hi guys,

I have one RIG with this problem, It's shutting down randomly and I don't know why, I have with air .
It have:
- 4 GPUs Sapphire RX 470 Nitro 8GB
- EVGA 1300
- Asrock z97 Anniversary
- 8GB ram
- Pentium core i3
- Windows 7 ultimate

How can I track the issue?

I'm mining with DASHMINER 2.1.1

Before I was mining Zchash and never have this issue, and also I'm mining dash since 3 months and just stared to shut down like a week ago...

Any help its appreciate

Thanks

Follow all the advices about temperature and logs that you received in previous answer.
If they do not work you should try to change risers, sometimes bad risers cause short circuit and everything goes black out.
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Want to upgrade my miner, GPU compability question on: March 28, 2017, 09:31:47 PM
1- Yes
2- Yes

It's a damn short answer, but that's it Cheesy
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 480 4gb vs RX 470 8 GB for mining on: March 28, 2017, 01:44:15 PM
You have 600+ posts and you still not use the search button?
There are plenty of discussion on it and there is no a definite winner.
I say 470 4gb
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how im can improve my ethereum mining ? on: March 28, 2017, 01:42:18 PM
Dear Friends

Im have 2 units of Saphire RX 470 and im mining ethereum with this line bellow

setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool eu1.ethermine.org:4444  -ewal 0x4FAd3e68CEc96AfbB0457B17A46fF6896EB57E40.worker1 -epsw x -ethi 6 -etha 0 -esm 1 -r -1

In this site bellow  calculator show to me that im can reach 138 us per month
https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/eth?HashingPower=53&HashingUnit=MH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=0&CostPerkWh=0

how im can improve my mining ? have another miner that is better than this ?

obs : im mining in ethermine

Thanks
Almir

You should have written directly that you mine with 53Mhash.. It's written in the URL, but..

Anyway 470 4gb or 8gb? Which sapphire? Which memory?
With custom ROM or at least some OC you should be able to achieve 58Mhash
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU mining computer specs on: March 28, 2017, 09:18:10 AM
If you wanna go for 6GPU you have to buy a mobo that has 6PCIE obviously.
Also consider that now every GPU can work with them, if you spend some times reading on this forum you will find many MOBO that people manage to use with 6 GPU.
Just follow their lead, H81 pro BTC or the equivalent bio star are a good starting point
195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Ryzen hashrate? on: March 28, 2017, 09:14:02 AM
I just ran the benchmark in the Nicehash miner and came up with 435.9 H/s - This is with a 1700X @ 4.0 Ghz and 2933Mhz DDR4. I did have some things running in the background, so that may have influenced it.

Since you are one of the lucky ones that has a Ryzen yet, can you do done tests more?
Maybe try some other miners and report frequencies.I hope that some other miners will outperform nice hash

Taxes on mining? Buaahhahahahahahahahhaha.  Grin Grin

+1.. The best thing about crypto is that you do not have to pay any taxes..

When you spend the coins, tax man might ask.

Yeah, they could.
What I try to do is spend most of my coins directly. I buy online in shops that accept bitcoin, buy directly from people that accept bitcoins, etc.

Do not forget that BTC (and also all the other cryptos) are currencies, use them

198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Laptop mining question on: March 27, 2017, 08:02:34 AM
all it makes no difference but laptop or PC Faster 100 times slower than the average modern and more efficient ASIC 50 times.

I don't he gets how mining works.
A laptop architecture is bottlenecked to what a mining rig with 5x more gpu power can do and an asic with 50x more processing power that ANY LAPTOP on the market or ever created will be able to do.
You will be mining in 1 day what something else can do in 5 minutes.
So you will be 35 by the time you you even get 1 btc mining with a laptop no matter how powerful, new or expensive it is.
So tell us, is that worth an explanation to you yet?
If not then think of it this way.
Workstation for 3d animation compared to Apple II doing Draw. There is no comparison there man!

I think you did not read the entire thread, I've said twice I'm not mining bitcoin.  I'm mining the cryptonotes; xmr, xdn, aeon etc.
It is asic resistant, it requires a cpu/gpu to mine so the power of those two items - which is why those two were specifically mentioned in the initial post - are the only items of concern for this mining.

Are you sure that the 1060 in the laptop performs equals than the normal one? I've never tried.

That being said, go for the 1060, 300$ difference is way too much for the performance gain
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Migrating rigs from AMD to Nvidia on: March 27, 2017, 08:00:29 AM
I have been running a couple of rigs for over a year now, mining mostly ETH but also ZEC & XMR and sometimes dual mining with claymore some DCR and LBRY. Probably 80% of the time I have been just mining ETH using Ethos (custom Linux mining distro).

The rigs are mostly AMD R9 290s, and one 390 and a couple of 380s.

I live in Australia where power is very expensive.

I also have a machine which is used as a HTPC and for some gaming which has an Nvidia GTX1070 in it. Obviously I have used it to mine alongside the AMD rigs a lot and it blows me away sometimes to see what the Nvidia Pascal chips can do in terms of hash-rate vs power consumption. For example, today I tried DCR mining just out of curiosity. The 1070 gives me 2.5gh/s at about 130-140W. I haven't tried mining just DCR with the AMD cards but dual mining ETH/DCR one 6 GPU rig does 180mh/s ETH and 1.5gh/s DCR (with the DCR at 20% in claymore) but it's using 2kW.

This got me thinking about maybe selling the old power hungry AMD cards on Ebay and getting maybe some GTX1060s.

Can anyone give me advice about the best Nvidia cards in terms of price, power consumption and hash-rate?

Is it necessary to buy the 6GB version of the GTX1060 or are the 3GB ones enough?

I was thinking about probably mining ETH still, but maybe (depending on coin prices) mining DCR, VTC, LBRY, XMR, ZEC or whatever. Maybe actually taking the time to learn properly and get a CCMINER autoswitching multi-algo setup going.

Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Gtx 1070 3Gb is the best Nvidia card.
I completely agree that they have a better hashrate/power usage ratio, but before than buy 20 of those you should check if the price difference is not bigger than the power advantage!
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashrate RX 470 on: March 27, 2017, 07:57:39 AM
Is this a good buy? NITRO+ RX 470 4GB 11256-01-20G

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=27N-0005-000G2

Local-to-me distributor is dumping 30 of them for $146.80 each, and I'm debating if I should scoop up a few...

That is an awesome price! I would buy 200 of them at this price Cheesy
Buy where I live in Europe they are way more expensive (210$ VAT included)
