Centralized and decentralized combination of blockchain applications are very popular and expanding themselves in the ico market. I also watch DNotes 2.0 to have a better understanding.

Thanks NavySeals, please let us know if you have any questions. We appreciate them as it helps us identify areas that may need further clarification as well.
1722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DNotes 2.0 - Bridging the Gap Between the Centralized and Decentralized World on: June 13, 2017, 03:38:04 PM

That is a good point Tim, we have setup several programs to help get people easily started in DNotes and begin learning about it. It would be great to come up with a way to get a small amount of DNotes into the hands of people that are interested in getting started and learning more. The challenge is being able to do with in such a way that cannot be exploited and also does not require a lot of manual intervention.

I believe the trick is to know your customer, and really understand their process. I don't think there is any value in giving away introductory DNotes because there's no reason to believe that less than $5USD is a deterrent. I would consider the learning curve, and the time taken to get through enough of the learning curve to be confident, is the biggest deterrent for new investors.

With this in mind I would suggest a highly structured introduction with a focus on not wasting the customer's time. We've seen software 'wizards' used for more than a decade to step people through a complex process. This wizard should not stop at the investment point, but go all the way through to a withdrawal.

For example, the customer clicks the "I'm interested, but don't know enough to be confident investing" button to get into the wizard. They have summaries of the important points with hover text over industry terms and on-screen or side panel pop-ups for more detailed information. By the end of it, they use a well known and familiar payment gateway like Paypal to buy $5 worth of DNotes. Then they get an email when their $5 DNotes quantity is worth $6. This email encourages them to cash in 1$ worth of DNotes so that they get money back in their hand and see the whole process end to end.

This final 'money back out' stage could be incredibly powerful in enabling them to recognise the full power of DNotes as a financial tool.

Then, once this has been developed, set up in a public space, hire a stall in the shopping centre, and pay some people $5 to invest $5 in DNotes. Watch over their shoulder and note down all of their question and complaints. Re-build your wizard based on what you learn and do it all again.

It is incredibly hard for someone capable of putting something like DNotes together to meaningfully relate to the thoughts and feeling of an off the street customer. The knowledge gap between the developer and the user is so incredibly vast. Experiencing this gap is the only way to bridge it.

Appreciate it Tim! Your points are well received. I can absolutely see using some of the methods you've outlined above being very effective at identifying the users needs.

To expand a bit on this conversation: As we grow and the regulations become less of an issue, we intend to streamline the entire process to the point of complete simplicity and convenience while also offering options to utilize DNotes in any way you would like. Having the tools available to buy, sell, save, and use your DNotes will be no more difficult and potentially even easier than using PayPal, or your traditional bank account.

Also having advanced features tucked away and slowly fed to the mainstream by asking customers if they have used xyz feature yet after some time of using the services, as they begin to use it, it will prompt other users to use it as well, until it becomes mainstream. It's important to recognize who the leaders are in your industry and study them. As Alan would say so that one day we can be equal to or better than them. I have been watching PayPal feed PayPal.me into the mainstream for what, 2 years now, and I believe a significant amount of people will be using it in the future. It allows people to simply send a link to someone in order to pay them. Brilliantly simple feature, very well introduced and executed, without 'forcing' it on the public.

For some of them, it wasn't even about money to begin with and still isn't, it's about being an early adopter and learning something new, something that isn't written in any history book but will change the course of the future for many generations.
You put that so well felixir. And dipping that toe in the water to be part of something so fundamental to the future can be really cheap. Maybe not if they're not aware or wanting to have a fraction of a BTC. But if you want a few DNotes, you can get them cheaper than almost any other form of entertainment.

Thanks! Glad to be back. Might want to put a link on the last page of the old forum unless, of course, you don't want people finding this one!  Grin

Excellent idea, thanks.

Thanks RJF! Updated the original thread with the 2.0 thread link.

Finally! Something intellectually stimulating to read on BCT again!  Grin  Great to see Dnote's new forum and talk to the crew! I have missed the old forum quite a bit. It was easy to keep up with everything on a daily basis for someone with limited time. Great to see everyone here again!

PS: Did I miss the signature contest? Haven't had time to read all the new posts as of yet...

Welcome back RJF, glad to have you! I've missed reading your posts and the old forum as well.

Hi! I hold my Dnotes in c-cex exchange, that is safe? Where is the best place to holding my notes?

Hi suziebirds, I would recommend using DNotesVault. All DNotes stored on the vault are kept in offline cold storage and are fully backed by a guarantee fund, making it the safest place by far to store your DNotes. DNotesVault will also help make the transition to DNotes 2.0 and proof of stake much easier. Instead of swapping your DNotes 1.0 for DNotes 2.0 manually, the process will be taken care of for you and you can go on using DNotes as usual.

www.dnotesvault.com is the place to store your DNotes

In addition to what DNotesEDU mentioned. The exchange is certainly where you want your funds for active trading. However, it's not a good practice to store them there long term as we have had a couple instances of exchanges getting hacked, or even going bankrupt, in which many users may lose their funds. The other alternative to DNotesVault is downloading your own wallet, which you can get at DNotesCoin.com. However, you will need to know how to properly protect your wallet.

Here is a basic process of securing your own wallet, this is not 100% secure against would be malware and viruses designed to collect information from your PC:
Download the DNotes Wallet from DNotesCoin.com
Unplug your internet cable or turn off your WiFi (Optional)
Unzip the downloaded files.
Open dnotes-qt.exe
Click Settings, then Encrypt Wallet
Enter a new password (Make sure you don't lose this password, best to write it down)
The program will close and you may re-open it.
Then you will want to backup your wallet file. Click File then Backup Wallet. Save it to a USB device, or in multiple offline drives locations if possible.
Be sure to copy your wallet address down somewhere as well, click Receive Coins and you can right click and copy the address, I would recommend saving that address to a text file so you can access it easily later.
Then you can close the program.
If you want to keep your wallet file only on offline devices, such as a USB stick... Once you have your wallet file backed up on those devices, you can remove the DNotes wallet files from your PC. On a Windows PC they will likely be located in the following folder: C:\Users\YOURWINDOWSUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\DNotes

There are other methods that would be 100% secure, such as using a dedicated offline computer, or creating the wallet on an offline computer and wiping out all the data afterwards. I can outline those options if anyone needs as well.

Hello DNote world,

Similar to felixir, I've been tracking DNotes for a while since TeeGee introduced me. Great to see all the development work and soon, once a few work commitments die down, I'd like to get involved.

PD

Hey Phil,

Welcome to our new forum! It's great to see so many old faces returning to check in. A lot has been going on, and we're just following the mantra that "success beings as a process".

HI Zahidmoon, welcome to the forum.  What sort of equipment are you using?

Picking a pool, you will want one that is likely closer to you geographically to ensure a nice fast connection. Then you will want to make sure they have a decent hashrate to ensure you will be able to find blocks fairly quickly.

Hello all! Apologies for the forum absence. Alan (DYNA), Joe (DNotes) and myself met up with MiningHabit for some food and a drink.

After a few Asahi beers (thanks Tim and Joe for pushing the envelope here!), pitch perfect weather, witnessing some sweet street performances, and those beers.....I was perfectly amenable to spending a small fortune shopping with my daughter (the photog for this pic) on Michigan Avenue that evening. Not on clothes or nonsense like that, but rather a bunch of Frank Lloyd Wright pieces from the CA Foundation store. My fav is the "Tree of Life" woodcut Addy convinced me to get.

I have been following this project and looks really amazing. I made an investment into Dnotes immediately after I did my full research. But I am very surprised - how is this so undervalued in the market when there are other coins with not this much functionality that are higher up the marketcap ladder? Very strange.

"I think almost every great investment has a contrarian check. A lot of people will think that’s a bad investment. But you have a good reason for thinking it’s a good investment and it will get to scale. Those are typically the unusually great investments."

Beautiful quotation that is. Actually doing a lot more reading about this project, I would love to be part of it. I am a serious developer with more than 13 yrs of commercial programming experience. Hopefully one day I can work with you all in this wonderful project. Good luck guys!

Hey Bitcoin_Newbie

Thanks heaps for the kind words! The project has been carefully planned since day one, with the goal that doing things the right way for long enough will ultimately lad to other people taking notice. We're very grateful and proud to have these efforts begin to be realized. If you could send DNotes a personal message, or send a message to contact@dnotescoin.com, we would be happy to speak with you.

Cheers for that. Sending a mail now.

It has been a good past couple of days. Nick it was great to finally meet you in person after so many conversations online.

Welcome Bitcoin_Newbie! Appreciate the email. I will get back to you shortly.

Hi Dev, how can I join in signature contest? Is it still open registration? Thank you

Sorry limmousine, but the signature contest ended on May 26th. Keep an eye on the DNotes forum for future social media campaigns.  Smiley

Hi Chase, just in case you're looking for a campaign manager I can do that for the team. I previously run a signature campaign which is Qtum Campaign.

We appreciate the offer BlackMambaPH, I am sure we can use help for future campaigns. Would you send me an email at contact@dnotescoin.com, let me know how you would run the campaign.

CT: What do you have in mind for the future of DNotes and your other crypto initiatives?

AY: It is estimated that by the year 2020, over five billion smart phones will be in use, and there are 2.5 billion people worldwide today commonly referred to as the unbanked, for not having a bank account or serviced by a bank. I am absolutely convinced that a stable digital currency — with reliable long-term appreciation, in partnership with international charity organizations and the United Nations — will soon have a viable option within our reach.

“DNotes will be known as the currency with a purpose.”

With two simple cell phones, or computers with an Internet connection, one can be set up to send and receive funds and conduct global commerce, thereby solving the problems of the unbanked. This alone has been my inspiration to work long and hard to position DNotes as a large-scale global digital currency that can take full advantage all the superior features of digital currency and blockchain technology.

A lot of things in this interview with Alan Yong showed much more than lip-service to being socially responsible. And I'm seeing the attitude of respect and helpfulness on this thread, so feel certain that people welcomed in by the CryptoMoms community will feel just as welcome on here.

But what really had an impact on me, and has had me thinking about solutions all night, was Alan's insightful comments about the role that DNotes can play in providing developing nations with a level economic playing field. I live in Cambodia, which has a very strong rural population and is home to many of the worlds unbanked.
https://www.cambodiadaily.com/archives/world-bank-report-says-few-cambodians-using-bank-accounts-46844/
The official currency in Cambodia is called the Riel and 4,000 of them buys a US Dollar. Possibly because the US Dollar is used along side the Riel it has remained relatively stable. But like many developing nations, this stability is not the same as confidence.

I understand people in developed nations showing concern about the security of new and innovative investments like cryptocurrencies. They're considering swapping something of apparent certainty, with something still being tested by time. But the story is different for locals in developing nations, dependant on a currency that could be suddenly devalued by a bad decision at a level of government far beyond their control. I imagine for them, cryptocurrencies might look more reliable than their current options.

But again, unlike people in developed nations who can risk what they can afford to lose, the people in developing nations who've been left behind by their country's financial systems have nothing spare to lose. This is why I have a new found hope in Alan Yong's perspective. It isn't about how much DNotes might be worth in the short term, it is about setting a realistic floor to the value of the currency by linking it to DNotes Global Inc. For these people, not losing everything, and having something secure to trade is of much more value, than an opportunity to make quick cash on a short-term investment.

There is so much more to think about that won't fit into this comment. But I'm hopeful that the reduced technical hurdles and electricity costs of Proof of Stake will also open the doors to those with the least to lose.

Thank you very much Tim, that was an excellent post from which I can tell a significant amount of research has gone into the workings in and behind what we are trying to achieve. I have a lot of respect for the effort you have put into your first post.

Your points made regarding social responsibility are well made, and they definitely resonate with our team. We have written in our forum a lot about currency collapse and the effects on local citizens' and the business they engage in. Venezuela and Greece are two countries that have struggled in recent times. Greece had an issue with fiscal responsibility because it became their only tool to manipulate their short-term economic 'well-being', along with banking system crash, meanwhile Venezuela attempted to nationalize everything and impose socialism v100.0 but that just resulted in complete failure and currency crash - not bad for a nation rich in oil, enjoying a year-round growing season, temperate climate, and some of the world's most desirable tourist locations...

The point is, cryptocurrency is the first opportunity that everyday people who have no political power -or nous- have had in a long time to make financial decisions for themselves again. They can expose themselves to the risk they want to be exposed to, and choose to be absent from the risk exposure of bureaucratic decision makers. In the developed world this may be the difference between short-term unemployment, or whether you end up on food stamps, but in Venezuela that is the difference between life and death, or eating your house pets to survive.

DNotes Global will play a significant role in alleviating this stress for those who want to participate in a network not run by their local bureaucrats that have proven themselves inept rulers. This role will form a central component of our business.

The technical hurdles that you have spoken of will also markedly improve the ability for people in developing nations to participate on less-powerful computers without ceding 'technological imperialism' to those in the developed world who can afford more powerful machines. Making our system as simple as possible is our main goal, because we want everybody in the world to be able to participate as though they intuitively knew what to do.

Great post.

Welcome to the forum Tim! Encouraged to read your response and as TeeGee has mentioned your words resonate with our team. One day, everyone will have a choice in the currency they chose to use. The creation of Bitcoin has opened the doors, and we believe DNotes will be the supplemental digital currency of choice.

Received a question on FB today about how long it takes to download and update the blockchain.

It can take up to a day to fully update in some cases. Bandwidth is only one factor, it is sorting through and downloading information block by block, cleaning up and indexing all the information as it goes. When we upgrade to DNotes 2.0 we will be looking into bootstrapping options as well, which will accelerate this process.

We do recommend utilizing the DNotesVault. However, we realize some would rather manage their own wallet, so we will continue to work to streamline DNotes on all fronts. That is one of the great things about cryptocurrency, it gives you the option to use it in the way that fits your needs and preferences.

Working on a few dynamic banners / widgets for people to display DCEBrief news on their websites.

https://dcebrief.com/banners/

Still needs some minor tweaking before they can be released. If anyone has any ideas of specific widget styles they would like to see added, let me know. As it stands now, you will be able to pick your number of items to display, width, along with headliner style, the small style with no read more button, and the large style with a read more button.

What’s New is in DNotes 2.0 Upgrade & Bitcointalk Forum.
DNotes is the blockchain-powered digital currency and peer-to-peer payment system that enables users to execute monetary transactions efficiently, quickly and without any intermediary.
If you have been using a DNotes, you will be glad to know that DNotes has recently announced DNotes 2.0 upgrade along with the launch of its new Bitcointalk Forum, embedded with innovative features and advancer applications for smart contracts execution, mobile applications and global payment systems. DNotes’ recent announcements are exciting enough to attract non-DNotes users as soon as after the upgrade launch.
So, what new features are expected in DNotes Upgrade 2.0? More

Thank you romenakras, we are very appreciative that you have taken time to write a piece about DNotes at newsbtc.

Things are beginning to move more quickly now. The team have also invited me to come stay in the USA with them to work personally for several months during this critical time. We are doing everything to get things done and reward our community - many of these being things that other groups are not prepared to do.

In the meantime, we are focusing on educating our community and engaging in productive conversation while we continue to make strides forward. We appreciate your help with to this end.

Thanks romenakras, the write up is greatly appreciated. It is a good outline of some of our upcoming changes and DNotes plans. One correction I would like to address is that DNotes Global Inc. is a for-profit company.

There was a further "growth potential" chart posted (along with a few other coins) at the same website.

I see very few reason for any serious investor or investment group that maintains fiduciary duty to its clients to gamble on a speculative gain without a trackrecord, or more predictable forces to ensure its success than "lots more people will come and buy this at a higher price". The strategy for DNotes to help provide a floor price through gifting some of the company DNotes Global's equity (that develops for the currency), to the currency itself means that the market price must always be worth equal to, or more than the profits that the company is returning to its shareholders (currency holders). We have not yet seen this done in the industry, and no doubt, investment managers may find that stabilizing intrinsic value very appealing.

It is a unique approach as part of DNotes shared stake philosophy from before the first day of launch. Modeled in such a way that the success of any individual component lends to the success of all others and ultimately benefits all DNotes stakeholders. A Utopian, self perpetuating, capitalist engine of economic freedom, separated from central control, capable of helping and lifting people anywhere in the world.
