Guys, I've been reading this crazy stuff posted by someone called "Shelby Moore" (whose messages were recently re-posted in the WO thread by user THX 1138), about how all coins held in SegWit addresses will be donated to miners, as they are free-to-spend coins in the legacy (pre-SegWit) blockchain, and only the coins held in legacy addresses will stay intact and belonging to their owners (private key holders). Supposedly, this attack will occur near the 2020 Halving event and will wreak havoc, resulting in the legacy chain being resurrected from the dead and becoming the dominant one, and the SegWit chain disintegrating into oblivion and causing a massive BTC price drop to near-zero.

What do you make of this?

Some more Qs:

1. Is it possible to move any of our coins held in SegWit addresses to legacy addresses (so that they would belong to the legacy chain if the above attack does happen)? Does the fact that, at some point in their history, those coins were held in SegWit addresses, taint them in any way? Would they still be considered as fully belonging to the legacy chain once moved to legacy addresses?

2. Would you do it? Do you think it's worth it?

3. Do these questions even make any sense?

4. Am I wasting my time with all this?

Thanks for any insights.

The first word that comes in mind, is outrageous (claims).

1. Yes. No. Yes

2. Why not?

3. Em, yes.

4. Probably, who the fuck knows? Grin

I still don't know exactly what to make of Anonymint's claims
Anonymint knows what he's posting is complete bullshit because you can't have a sky high Bitcoin price without mining cost of production expanding by orders of magnitude to match it.  If we go by the same metrics as the last pump and dump scam hitting around $20k with $3k cost of production, for Anonymint's "$1 million Bitcoin" claim after just a single halving, you would need the equivalent of $150,000 cost of production to facilitate the same pump and dump scam to $1 million.

Thanks for your insight.

But this was actually funny.

I'm pretty sure it's taken from a video game or something.
But yeah, r0achie is out to charm the women. Tongue

I still don't know exactly what to make of Anonymint's claims, but I'm going to leave this here:

I'm not sure I like the narrative that Satoshi supports or is behind Grin's development donations.

Although this makes sense:
Transaction security depends on how much is received by miners in a block. When issuance has reached the limit, I reckon paying high fees for secure transactions will only encourage users to use an altcoin. This will also cause miners to leave because the people that pay them have gone and the issuance in the block as payment for them are gone.

This doesn't:
However, it is a bitcoin replacement. It is a replacement for all cryptocoins that will become insecure when their coin issuances have reached their limit.

You are speculating that in a few years, when 95% of BTC has been mined, somehow Grin will replace it, and all alt coins including BTC will be pegged to Grin?
Or that Grin will be adjusted somehow to act as a 2nd layer solution to BTC?
What happens to BTC/BTC price then is my real question - since you mentioned the word, replacement.

Agreed. However, they also say that Satoshi's wallets hold millions of bitcoins. There will certainly be more 50 bitcoin donations going to Grin's development team hehehehe.

Well, Satoshi's computer mined the first 36k blocks/1.8M BTC, most of them never moved, as commonly accepted.
The donator's mined BTC was the reward for block #94894. Obviously an early miner is involved (01/12/2010), but Satoshi himself?

Whats up Cryptotourist.

Can we have the old Lambie back now?

I was all-in on Bitcoin ~

(not that I sell any BTC from the hoard, but still as a spectator sport your BTC hoard vs USD worth it sucks) Smiley

Assuming you are referring to my stack, it does suck.
Not much fiat available to convert to BTC before the halving unfortunately.

It smells like weekend pump is around the corner - fuckery included. Grin

Lambie, dude, WTF?

We are months before the halving, & $6.5k is our local bottom till then. And that's with a big IF.
I would DCA your remaining fiat soon, stop fantasizing with the obvious short term downtrend (no, I'm not in denial), and focus on when raptor green dildos might occur before the halving. Just remember we are in a fucking bull run, didn't late October reassure you?

Bargain boyz had their chance at the beginning of the year, and large volume is not always the epitome of manipulation. Wink

Fresh hot, new strip-club hit:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIYAMOb22WE

I can easily see it in many covers - in various languages - throughout strip-clubs of south-east Europe.
Although not a fan of this kind of music, I'm definitely a fan of strip-clubs. Grin

You heard it here first. Wink

Ok, I do realize you may have put some effort forth recently and I appreciate that.

I'm telling you, something has profoundly changed.
r0achie is developing a sense of humor, and he's not doing bad either.

I dread of the day r0ach will become sane, admit his Jewish origin, dump metals, go all-in on BTC, turn again into the mother of bulls & actually HODL & profit for a change.
It will spoil my, bitcointalk-have-someone-to-bash-concept I've been into the past year or so. Cool

BTW, New World record on BitCoin testnet 2,734,797 transactions in a single block (528 MB)

That is not Bitcoin.

Sure, the Satoshi CW Datacenter BitCoin BSV showing capacity for the globe as designed to scam people into thinking dumb things.
