Anyone notice what happened to the price of ETH during the ICO timeframe. Coincidence?

During ICO timeframe 1 ETH was 400$

Not exactly.

The chart below shows what ETH did from May 18 to June 18. Not a coincidence if you ask me, but everyone needs to draw their own conclusions.

202  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Turn $10,000 into 1 Million on: July 14, 2017, 09:32:15 PM

I want to take a moment to better explain my present strategy. I said previously that I was adopting bear market rules. That basically entails selling rallies and not holding in anticipation of more extended upside moves. It also means a generally negative environment that trends sideways at best, and lose a lot at worst.

I will be hedging when appropriate, and changing how part of the portfolio works. More or less, around 45% will be LTC, around 30% either in position swing trades or hedged, and 25% will be actively traded using instruments that would meet swing trade criteria and with no instrument traded ever exceeding 2.5% total portfolio.

For example, yesterday I bought 0.1 BTC of STEEM to bring my STEEM “trading book” up to 100%. These positions are “scaled” into, and out of, by buying and selling progressively lower or higher levels. With that you can idea of what I’m doing here. 0.1 BTC in a $40,000 portfolio is around a 1/2 of a percent of the total portfolio, or around $220 at the time of this writing. Lot’s of trades involved, especially in ranges.

It’s a bit more complicated and a little outside the scope of this thread, which in theory should be left to the buy and hold swing trade portfolio strategy it started out being and not further complicated – something we can all do.

I’m more aggressive however, and, even though it’s practically impossible to inform on that type of trading (not to mention being terribly boring to begin with), I will try to share the highlights, and weekly stats, of course.

25% trading
30% either long swing trade qualified cryptos including BTC, or dollar hedged
45% LTC long term hold (that I’ll obviously try to scalp a bit too)

Cheers

I've got a question that I thought I'd google first before asking something already answered.

What's the difference between BitShares and OpenLedger?

https://www.google.es/search?q=what%27s+the+difference+between+bitshares+and+openledger&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&ei=O-BnWbPEDIaE3gPW87VA

The first pertinent result is a Quora "No Answers Yet" page. The second looks to be a very accurate, albeit somewhat casual, explanation.

In a word, could we say that OpenLedger is the equivalent of a re-seller, and that BTS is the real thing?

bitshares is the blockchain

bitshares.org and openledger.io and bitshares.eu and freedomledger.com and btsabc.org and rudex.org are all hosting slightly varying user interfaces for web clients to interact with same bitshares blockchain and order books

additionally openledger blocktrades transwiser and bitkapital offer bridges and gatways for interacting with external blockchains

for example, openledger gateway is responsible for exchanging open.BTC, open.DASH, and more open.* assets with their equivalent on those respective blockchains

additionally the guys at openledger do a lot of reach out to other projects to grow use of bitshares ecosystem https://openledger.info/ and offer stake in their portfolio of companies via https://obits.io/

bitshares.eu, openledger and bitshares.org are also completely separate teams

It's somewhat confusing where responsibilities begin and end. For example, when clicking on the "Documentation" link on bitshares.org, you're redirected to bitshares.eu  bitshares.foundation doesn't help clear matters up.

This series helps, but still leaves some questions unanswered:  http://docs.bitshares.org/bitshares/history.html

This one helps out a bit more:  http://docs.bitshares.org/bitshares/whatis.html

Are there different people responsible for, and working on bitshares.org, bitshares.eu and bitshares.foundation?

Is there an organigrama anywhere?

This IOC will be the most successful in history....for the devs.

It will bring the market and those who invested to their knees.

If you don't think the price will be half of what it is now when it hits
The exchange then you don't understand basic economics.

There is no room to grow when literally everyone and their mother
can jump in early.

The Bancor debacle will be nothing compared to this.

UNCAPPED ICOS ARE THE CANCER OF THIS MARKET

I am no expert on the subject, but I have to agree based on my best knowledge. It's going to take a lot a people getting hurt real badly, and then the rest of us to help people focus that negative attention on those ICOs, and not on good, reliable, functional and safe crypto.

Time will clean out the crap, but in the meantime, we'll have to adjust our expectations for the real McCoys.

Yes i am a expert not a blep troll ok,   Roll Eyes

you said "the cancer of this market are the ico."

only are the pump grups and shitcoins from 2010 onwards for this groups are the blep cancer on crypto. REALITY

Why ico is cancer?, when ico its born,  its life.?

And I do not ask you for answers.  Tongue

Not ico =  not new coins  Cry  Cry

Why better  Cool
IMO

The best we can do is to eliminate , deslisted all that shitcoins , yes that shit from 2010 onwards that are not good for shit and fork from shit and by the way are more centralized than the center of my bath.

So stop talking nonsense and repeating to tears that broke all the fucking records in history.

take note and fell sad for yours words of troll.

The only thing that really bothers them is that at last true teams of professionals work to create new coins that will replace the shitcoins you hold, that's why no one likes to publish a shit here because what they do here now is to trolley all year . Reality

And if it hurts, I'm glad you confirm that I'm right  Cheesy

And BTC just keeps chuggin along doing its thing being undisputed #1 in spite of all those who are going to make something "better".

That's reality.

Hello.

Few weeks ago I heard about your project and it looks quite promising. I am eBay seller myself and your project to me looks interesting, eBay,PayPal and currency conversion fees are really high I pay about 12% on average. After reading Syscoin whitepaper I still have some questions.

1. If Syscoin blockmarket will grow to thousands transaction per second, how it will affect transaction fees and velocity?

2. When you plan to finish blockmarket and start bringing it to the mases?

3. I have studied your website (www.syscoin.org) and found that your team consist of 6 people and only two of them are developers. Also found that you are working on different projects. So from my point of view basically two people are working on several different projects.  Do you think that's enough resources to build a solid project ? Why you are not expanding your team?

4.Do you have any competitors except OpenBazaar?

5. Have you thought about search algorithm how listings will be displayed?

6. Lowest piece of Syscoin is 0.000001?

7. Is it true that you are going to develop a feature to make possible uploading listings from eBay via csv / excel file?

Please join the Slack group join.syscoin.org and the Devs will be able to answer all your questions

Is it really so difficult to answer here? Or do we all have to join the slack channel?

1. If Syscoin blockmarket will grow to thousands transaction per second, how it will affect transaction fees and velocity?

A: I'll let Jag Sidhu answer this more technically, however http://whitepaper.syscoin.org/ will probably give you most of your answers about technical design: http://whitepaper.syscoin.org/

2. When you plan to finish blockmarket and start bringing it to the mases?

A: Blockmarket does not have a set date yet, we are currently in the Beta 5 phase and have submitted it to a security audit firm, while they are auditing, we are working on non-security-related updates that make the UI experience more polished. Once all is confirmed and rectified (if issues are discovered during the audit, they will need to be fixed), we will release Blockmarket for Desktop. Blockmarket for web is what we consider to be the software that will bring Syscoin to the masses, as it will allow anyone to use Syscoin via a web-browser, no need to install software; we will begin working on that as soon as Blockmarket for Desktop is completed.

3. I have studied your website (www.syscoin.org) and found that your team consist of 6 people and only two of them are developers. Also found that you are working on different projects. So from my point of view basically two people are working on several different projects.  Do you think that's enough resources to build a solid project ? Why you are not expanding your team?

A: Our website is currently being re-vamped, our team did indeed consist of two developers a few months ago (plus the rest of the team), but currently we have 5, Dan Wasyluk, Jag Sidhu, Willy Ko, Sebastian Schepis & Ian Wijesinghe. https://medium.com/@BlockchainFoundry/blockchain-foundry-update-full-time-team-members-office-space-and-new-developers-joining-the-team-e11c251136bd

4. Do you have any competitors except OpenBazaar?

A: We do not consider OpenBazaar to be our competitor, Blockmarket has many features that OpenBazaar does not. Merchants would need to use many different applications (some centralized) to achieve Syscoin's current experience and yet we have so much more in-store; the costs of selling on OpenBazaar is also exponentially more expensive (IE: With OpenBazaar, either you need to pay for monthly fees to a hosting company to host your store or you need to keep a node online 24/7; whereas with Syscoin, it only take a few cents to create your store and have an offer up that lasts an entire year before it expires). So to answer your question, we do not have competitors, there are a few projects that claim to do a small percentage of what Syscoin can do, however, there is nothing that currently exists that can compare to the full-feature-set of Syscoin.

5. Have you thought about search algorithm how listings will be displayed?

A: I'm not exactly sure what you mean? Blockmarket brings all of Syscoin's existing features in an easy-to-use and polished piece of Software, listings are already searchable from the QT wallet or via console.

6. Lowest piece of Syscoin is 0.000001?

A: The smallest possible fraction of Syscoin is the same as Bitcoin = 0.00000001

7. Is it true that you are going to develop a feature to make possible uploading listings from eBay via csv / excel file?

A: Certainly, we will be working on a Syscoin E-commerce integration products after Blockmarket for Web has been released; Syscoin will be integrated with mainstream e-commerce platforms such as Magento, Shopify, OpenCart, and Prestashop. To answer your questions, this allows for bidirectional syncing of inventory between Syscoin's decentralized platform and various centralized offerings.

8. Is it really so difficult to answer here? Or do we all have to join the slack channel?

A: Slack is certainly the best place for you to ask questions, our community is also very helpful; we are all very busy in our team and our community often helps out so that we can put most of our efforts on development and planning.

Very exciting to hear. Thanks for taking the time. I appreciate the importance and purpose of slack, but this forum is one of the few open doors to the wider world. Bitcointalk is always at the top of search results and often a first contact. Very beneficial to all.

Music to my ears. Thanks again!

Sold the last of my GRS last night. Average sales price of all my GRS was .00007129, and the purchase price was .00001290. A 553% gain. Not bad, but with it trading at .00014000 right now, the temptation is to say it could have been better.

It's best to not complain and always remember that nobody ever went broke taking profits. Wink

Always nice to know that surely we'll be able to buy back at much lower prices sometime in the next 6 months.  Cool

(Fast market right now and it's coming down hard on volume.)

Do you think there will be a PR report to address possible loss of confidence issues? Something that will project professionalism and build confidence?

http://www.bitshares.foundation/announcements/2017-07-11-bitshares-downtime-incident

I'm getting a 404 on that URL. Sad

Never mind. Loading now. Thanks!

Add: I would also recommend a press release leveraging the positives: the halt caused by the bad assertion automatically protected all previous transactions and the team response was phenomenally quick. I would also recommend a good copy edit. Wink

Got to turn the negative into a positive and in this case that means showing the world professional responsiveness that gets the job done now. That's what people want to hear. It's a win-win. BitShares ends up coming out of this looking like a hero, and crypto's reputation in general is also bolstered in the process.

Just a simple press release with a positive spin. It doesn't take much to get big returns.  Cool
215  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Turn $10,000 into 1 Million on: July 11, 2017, 06:41:03 PM
Always appreciate the analyses. Smiley

I'd already pulled my trading BTC into fiat ahead of most of this to buy the dip. Haven't finalized my alts going forward, so I'm just riding out the small alt positions I had (RIP XRP). Never really trusted ETH, glad for now I was barely exposed.

What I can't figure out is an entry position. We're just still so high up overall. I'm not worried about buying in now and taking another 50% dip for a few months. I'm worried about buying in now and not having fiat handy to buy even more at 50% off. Opportunity cost and all that.

And that's before the complexity of getting a good deal while chaining Fiat -> BTC -> Alt. Any tips on wrapping your head around that one (seems like the charts basically invert step to step)?

Seasonality is strong in the spring up to June-July, then there's another pickup "traditionally" into Sept-Oct-Nov, but more recovery in nature when compared to the spring, and then lows are made year-end. We're following pretty much to pattern, but that can change in a New York minute: past performance is no guarantee of future success.  Wink

If the deal with VISA fell through how long do you think they would sit on the news before announcing?

I know the whole crypto market is in crapola red mode today but making false assumptions without any real news is just spreading FUD that is totally unnecessary and it doesn't help to stablilize the markets by spreading false rumors. People come to Bitcointalk to look for news, we need to act more responsibly if we want new investors coming into crypto, we need to control what comes out of our mouths and start acting more grown up. This is all getting serious now, people are investing millions into Crypto and now getting rekt so we need to all act with caution and wait for formal announcements from MONACO themselves before we spread news here.

How do you follow somebody here?   Angry

Nicely put.

Monaco shut down their Slack because too much reality was starting to show up.  All of you Kool-Aid drinkers must have come here.

The Monaco Slack is operating just as it always has.  The current turmoil has nothing to do with Monaco and is instead all about Bitcoin:

Wonder if we're going to see a return of the inverse trading relationship between Alts and BTC.
(It used to be that if BTC traded lower, alt-coins traded higher, and vice versa, remember?)
