Did some rebalancing. Sold about 1/3 of ADA

and used around 58% to buy more BTS

and the rest to SBD just to keep some dry powder (and because it's ridiculously cheap).

Big double top in on BTC too.  Cool

Maybe.  Wink

HR, Im curious if you or anyone else sees a 'melt-up' towards the next BTC fork where everyone dumps alts and buys BTC until the deadline then jumps back into alts later.

I'm not betting on it, but that's what I said last time and I missed out.  Sad

Judging by what we're seeing right now, it looks like a lot of folks are jumping on that trade though. Again, it looks too obvious, but that's what I said last time. I'm sticking with my strategy, which I think will pay off long term - last thing I want to do is get sucked into getting turned upside down and getting my head handed to me.

Yeah, looks like those active in altcoins are in for a rough ride in the coming weeks. I re-entered the cryptomarket myself a week ago (although on a much, much smaller scale compared to you) and am already down 15% or so. Chances are your next graph is going to show some sort of 'nosedive' ... However, alts are probably going to recover after the hardfork.
Are you planning to buy a portion of BTC after the hardfork? I can imagine it can make your portfolio less prone to fluctuations in the altcoin-market. I'm too chicken myself to dive entirely into alts again tbh.

Not too much of a nosedive since everything's valued in BTC - the rise in BTC cancels out a good part of the decline in Alts, so the end result USD change is not all that negative considering the wholesale selling going on. Here's a special update with what the portfolio looks like in real-time (10 minutes ago).

Here's another way of looking at LTC in USDT terms on Poloniex, for example: https://poloniex.com/exchange#usdt_ltc
That's a lot different looking than the LTC-BTC chart: https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_ltc

The real problem begins when BTC reverses lower. If the main thing powering BTC is Altcoin proceeds right now, and that's not good news for BTC. If Alts continue lower in combination with a decline in BTC, then we'll have to start talking about something a lot more serious. In any event, I will hold.

@hous26, Yes I'm watching ARK too, but, like you, I'm in no hurry, and I'll be looking to rebalance BTS and ADA first.

This is not any fun at all, but it's part of the "game". That's why we only invest what we can afford to lose. Got to be able to ride out the storm.  Wink

Great buying opportunity in ADA right now!

Of course, that's my opinion only.

The more I use Steemit platform the more I like it. I noticed that it can be a little bit addictive like spending time on Quora,  Grin I usually spend my time online mostly on quora, youtube and in the last few weeks also on steemit!

That is really great to hear! Hopefully more and more people will be saying the same as quality content gets even better and is more deservingly rewarded.

Please take a look at this and tell me what you think. While I'm certainly not going to jump on anyone for positive feedback, what I'm most interested in hearing (with appropriate reasoning of course) are the reasons why I'm wrong, what I'm overlooking, why it's been tried and failed already (if that be the case), or even just to let me know that I've been asleep and that it's already being done. Many thanks in advance!

I like it and think it makes a lot of sense. In the stock markets they have activist investors that hold large chunks of the stock and use that as leverage to get the company directors to change direction/strategy. I could see something like this happening with crypto world and BTS specifically. They are suffering from a severe lack of recognition and need to get their name out in some marketing campaigns.

I'm not sure if marketing could help here. If product is strong people will eventually come and support technology. Bitshares is veteran crypto and it is going down most of the time. Now delisted from Bittrex. What is next?

You're right if you're referring to the Bittrex issue (and gimmick marketing too, as I mention in the post), but from a long term informative/educational point of view? For example, instead of so much effort directed at the relatively marginal Hero campaign, wouldn't a branding campaign highlighting key competitive advantages be more effective?

HERO is run by a private project, the DAC does not pay for it.

I knew I could get you to chime in sooner or later.   Wink   Sorry about the confusion, what with Stan being the the Godfather of the Hero too, it looks like I didn't catch that subtle fact. Is BTC-U also a private project?
https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@stan/bitcoin-united-btc-u-offers-3-second-confirmations-and-massive-throughput

What's your opinion regarding a branding effort to help investors clearly distinguish between entities, products, and functions so they can more easily focus on what satisfies their specific needs instead of being turned off by a confusing mishmash that looks like a poorly thought out and somewhat gimmicky marketing attempt?

Any thoughts on keeping it simple and to the point with the key reasons why someone who wants to use an exchange would be best served using BitShares?

Am I thinking too outside the box?  Shocked

You can also move it to Poloniex, they still have it listed.

#1: An exchange is not a wallet (although you could indeed leave your BTS there).

#2: Poloniex is worse than Bittrex, way worse, in my opinion of course.

#3: Risk levels are rising across the board when referring to centralized exchanges - USDT has nothing to back it and I think it's going to cause some bankruptcies and/or bail-ins - and I recommend getting off all of them by taking coins to private wallets.

Not to mention their risk of being hacked and making customers pick up the bill (another bail-in). https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-08-07/hacked-bitcoin-exchange-users-to-lose-36-will-receive-tokens

A serious, hard hitting marketing campaign would start with hammering home USDT's total lack of guarantee.

There's funny money, and then there's real money.

BitShares has ZERO counterparty risk, and that applies to BitUSD as well as all of the rest of the issues listed.

It's time to aggressively get the word out.

Early adopters will thank you for it.

I also highly recommend getting all funds off of all traditional exchanges - very bad things have traditionally started like this.

Please comment on this suggestion posted yesterday. Your input is so important that any lack of input reduces your stature. There's no fence sitting allowed here. No middle-of-the-road be nice to everyone at any cost attitudes allowed. Anyone trying to come out smelling like roses will end up looking like shit.

From Bittrex:  "This market will be deleted on October 13th, 2017"

Any information why?

This is a huge surprise. Just outrageous! It is going to be interesting to see just how Bitshares engages Bittrex on this issue. Either it's a mistake or it's war, and only effective discussion and negotiation can lead to a reliable conclusion. If BTS is what it purports itself to be, they will get to the bottom of this.

Considering all the information available as of today, it looks like an obvious and blatant preemptive strike by Bittrex.

Bitshares needs to respond with the hardest hitting marketing campaign possible. No more Mr. Niceguy.

Blockchain Foundry Engages Marketing Agency

After listening to community feedback and a long search, Blockchain Foundry has chosen Ballistic Arts Media Studios Inc. to enhance the marketing effectiveness of all services and product lines. This is the beginning of a long-term partnership that will solidify the branding strategy and improve marketing presence of Syscoin, the upcoming Blockmarket Web, and future projects across all media.

Ballistic Arts Website and Portfolio

Ballistic Arts is a full-service marketing agency whose clients include the highly recognized Simon Fraser University, Recycle BC, Capilano College, Vancouver International Auto Show and more. They have been highly commended for their work in digital marketing, video production, motion graphics, web development, and branding.
“We’re excited to work with Blockchain Foundry. We’re confident we can make Blockmarket a household name and make Syscoin a top ten coin.”, says Ted Lau, CEO of Ballistic Arts, “Some of our staff are passionate about cryptocurrency, so we have a deep insight into the ecosystem. Marketing can make or break any company, and we have the resources and experience to deliver tremendous value to Blockchain Foundry and the Syscoin protocol.”
Plans for amalgamating and updating the Blockchain Foundry website assets are now incorporated into a wide-scale marketing strategy which is focused not only on boosting the online presence of Syscoin and Blockchain Foundry among cryptocurrency audiences, but also on making sure that Blockmarket Web and future projects launch with a bang heard well outside the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Ballistic Arts has begun the rebranding phase, which will affect the look and feel of all Blockchain Foundry products and should conclude around the end of October. The new brand strategy will then be rolled out with the new website which will remain under development until rebranding is complete. Following the website launch, Ballistic Arts will be taking over web management tasks under the guidance of the Blockchain Foundry Team.

As part of our new marketing strategy, Ballistic Arts has additionally begun production of a promotional video and other assets vital to the launch of Blockmarket Web. The promotional video will showcase Blockmarket for a broader, non-crypto audience.
“Blockmarket Web will have a global influence and our marketing strategy needs to be prepared to engage this audience. Ballistic Arts has the large and diverse team required to do this.” commented Brad Hammerstron, CMO of Blockchain Foundry, “They are more than capable and I look forward to start showing the results of this partnership.”

Now I'm burning up!  Cheesy  Totally jazzed. I have no doubt that SYS will be a top 10 crypto! Fantastic news to add to all the previous fantastic news. Just couldn't ask for more. Great job you guys are doing!
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚒ Syscoin -Active Lightning Networks!Decentralized Business Blockchain Platform! on: October 04, 2017, 05:28:24 PM
It hard to believe the movement of the Syscoin's price. I think someone accumulates and try to hold coin's price at 4000 satoshi. Technic analysis and fundamental analysis is very good and powerful. Big expectations in October. I think a new all-time high is possible before the end of this year. Just need some more time before the big bullish rally.

I dipped even further to 3500. This must be a good buy at the moment, given all the upcoming news.... I'm buying more.

I don't. I finally sold my stuff and moved on from this. I got banned from Slack for bringing up the ongoing decline of the price in a normal manner. This is really a big red flag for me if criticism is handled like this. No discussion, my user account just got disabled, that is pathetic. Reddit is dead as well. Pump groups make advertisements there and the things are not getting removed for over 5 days. This thread is also silent. Everybody moved on. People are not even caring to vote syscoin for being added to Binance. Those are red flags again for me.

Sys didn't really recover any of the losses with the China FUD market crash. Sys bleeds to death and the devs are not bringing any news to create at least some hype or informing people what might be happening. That is just a big middle finger in the face of every investor. I pity those who actually bought at ATH some weeks ago. Those extra strong declines and wild price swings don't inspire confidence to attract new potential investors and people are deluding themselves if they expect any recoveries soon. Where is the new floor? 2k sats again?

My take on the "silence" here is that it is one of silent confidence. What with Blockchain Foundary and the plans for a Bonded Validator System as solutions for market-driven needs, it certainly looks like SYS is making the transition from first generation coin to a modern cryptocurrency with real world use applications as well as being a secure storage of wealth.

Frankly, I didn't even know who Binance was. I had to google them. Well, truthfully, I went to coinmarketcap.com too. Couldn't even find out where they are based from their website. https://www.binance.com/ Googled "Binance physical location" in order to get that from 3rd parties.
https://www.google.com/search?dcr=0&source=hp&q=Binance+physical+location&oq=Binance+physical+location&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39k1.2396.2396.0.3450.3.2.0.0.0.0.106.106.0j1.2.0.dummy_maps_web_fallback...0...1.1.64.psy-ab..1.2.489.6...383.S61TdzT4HUY

Everything is bleeding, well, almost. The SegWit currencies especially, well, almost everybody there as well.

Again, in the case of SYS, I think there are very savvy people buying on the cheap and the rest of us who are holding, doing so with a high level of confidence in what's being done here. You know, it has adopted state of the art legacy advancements (hope that doesn't sound too oxymoronic) while jumping ahead and claiming a very interesting niche in the real world use space. And they're modifying the base protocol to increase security as well.

The only thing I wish there was more of is real PoS. A hybrid 90/10 PoS/POW would set me on fire. Cool

Thats what it essentially will be since.bonded validators are PoS while.the mining component is PoW. Majority of the rewards will goto bonded validators to the tune of what you suggest roughly. In the case of v2 masternode design the PoW blockchain for Syscoin becomes more of an adjucator with elegant seperation of concerns.

Great to know! I'm on fire!  Grin

BitShares-Based SEC-Compliant Tokens & Exchange

Some excerpts:

John [Gotts] came away feeling that of all the global exchanges perhaps only Coinbase would not be shut down if/when the SEC decides to act.

Embracing the TXSRB and SEC rules, regulations & laws will make the Stokens Exchange (powered by the BitShares Network) the first and most legally compliant way for a company to successfully secure funding without the chance of a shutdown, lawsuit or investigation. The Stokens Exchange is the future of crypto and it will be built on the BitShares blockchain.

BitShares has always provided all the tools and utilities needed to allow users to comply with the regulations and laws that apply to them.

It looks more like Bittrex will be left with ZERO coins to trade when all is said and done, that is, if they're lucky enough not to be shut down completely. Time will tell.  Cheesy  I'm sticking with my BTS.
