There is no fraud here. As already explained, there is a difference between "bitcoin devs" and "bitcoin core devs" and decred was developed by bitcoin devs, which in addition to many other things used in bitcoin also developed atomic swaps. The first bitcoin atomic swap, performed by Charlie Lee with litecoin, was using technology developed by decred's devs. Do you know Jimmy Song from bitcoin Core Team?  One of Decred's founding devs, J.C. Vernaleo, also was a NASA developer. Currently, the currency development is decentralized. Company 0 has become just one of the companies that develop it. Anyone can submit a project that will be voted on and if accepted by the community, implemented and the developers paid for the work. Are you a troll? Don't do that. I'm debating for learning's sake. There are some people in the Bitcoin community who had been saying that "blockchain governance is a joke". I'm simply trying to find answers. But I'll try to get answers from some of the developers to simple questions, like what if the motivated minority, comprised of miners and stakers, simply refuse to run the Core developers' software, and develops their own, with their own rules? I think a motivated minority will be able to cause a chain split. Decred is developed to make it not possible because it would be very costly to do, but what if some bad actor would be only interested in finishing Decred project by a chain split to prove that on-chain governance is broken and don't think about the cost? Yes, we can say that it is impossible to chain split decred without stakeholders agreeing to it. Atack decred costs 20X more than taking control of bitcoin in a 51% attack. Remember about Litecoin. Despite everything (second crypto ever, fair launch, LN, etc.) still, the price never reached higher than 0.02BTC. That was at another point in the market. Until 2016 the altcoins market was totally undervalued by the mainstream. This has changed since 2016 and a lot of money has entered this market. As I said before, ETH, Dash and monero had their ATH above 0.1 BTC. Decred can do the same or get close if it becomes more popular. You also forgot to count the amount of coins in the market and the total supply. Decred has around 10 million units launched of a total of 21 million. Litecoin and others have 10X, 100X more units. The creator of originalmy is currently in eastern Europe, creating solutions for the Estonian and Latvian governments using the decred and DCRtime blockchain. I just can't agree and think that cryptocurrency should at least have a purpose or any use case when developed because we already have more than 2970 cryptocurrencies that are trying to find the place on the market and to be honest without real use cases I don't see this to happen. As I said we are entering the 2020 year and today is not enough only to launch a cryptocurrency to be successful exactly as until 2017. Today competition is so big that if your crypto is not special and doesn't have any purpose, then there are already hundreds of altcoins like this and they already lost 99% of the value until today. The purpose of decred is to be the best and safest store of value in the market. In addition it also provides income not only for POW miners, but also for stakeholders through POS, privacy and amazing governance. Satoshi created bitcoin to fuck the system and the banks. All coins that appears for another purpose in a beautiful whitepaper turns out to be scam. Cryptocoins were not created to save the planet, to help musicians, artists, gnomes, urea production and bla bla bla Can the blockchain be used for other purposes? Yes, but it is up to the community entrepreneurs to start their business and make money from it. There is no need to find just one utility and create a coin around it. Dude, you've been answered about it dozens of times but seems that you don't want to see the answer and don't stop repeating that fallacy. It's not worth it financially for anyone to do in decred what happened to eth/etc and btc/bch when communities splited by centralized decisions and lack of consensus, which makes it "impossible" in DCR. About copying and pasting the code from github, creating another currency and giving it any name you want, it can be done with any currency. It's up to the market to assess whether it deserves any respect or not. So this is another currency, starting from scratch, there is no link to the previous blockchain. The whole story is deleted. The smart contracts made will not be present, nor will the records in the original blockchain. |

I know of course about this but still what is the main use case for Decred? And if there is any then who is actually using Decred for this purpose? I hope it is clear enough? We all know that experts assume that only 10% from all cryptocurrencies will survive in the end and the most important thing for each altcoin, token or any other cryptocurrency is to have a use case or at least to find its place on the crypto market like BTC as the safe heaven or XRP used for transactions because is fast, cheap and scalable. There are already 3000 altcoins so 10% would be around 30 cryptocurrencies. Only so much will stay and that is why we have to start to ask the right questions and think properly about it. There are many alts that are dying actually. Let's take all masternodecoins which on the hype of high ROI boomed in 2018 and today almost all of them lost 99% of the value. We have to rethink if a particular coin is actually still needed at the end of the 2019 year and what will happen with it in 2020 and later? Just look at all infrastructure projects like ETH, Waves, Wings, Stratis, etc. In the hype of ICO and Dapps building they also boomed but to be honest there are no Daaps which are known and widely used, additionally ICOs market changed and now we have IEO and in 2020 there will be no ICOs anymore. So tell me please who is using Decred actually today and for what? Many people, including me, use it as a store of value, just like btc. In my opinion, Decred was always a decent project with a dedicated team.
We can see that the development is ongoing and lately we have some strong moves upwards price wise and that is why I started to wonder what is so special about Decred, despite this what I have already mentioned?
There are other better, faster and cheaper altcoins that already are used for transfers, we have BTC which has found a place as digital gold and safe haven and to be honest I don't hear anything about Decred implementations or use cases?
Community governance sounds very good and to be honest, on this hype Decred makes his way to the top 50 on CMC, but what is the future for Decred?
You didn't say anything about privacy and the lightning network that is already implemented in v1.5 release candidadate1 recently released EDIT: There is no other currency as safe against attacks as decred. Some New features: - This release introduces the privacy features based on CoinShuffle++. CoinShuffle++ cooperative mixing features are added. Through this process, tickets may be bought from outputs in a CoinJoin transaction. CoinJoin change is not anonymized, and must be isolated to a different account and mixed down at standard amount values. This implementation of CoinShuffle++ currently requires a central server as a coordination point between all peers in a mix. The Decred project operates a server at https://cspp.decred.org/, and more details about correct usage can be found there. Anyone is able to host their own server and configure their wallets to use it, but for the largest anonymity set it is best that most people remain using the same server. - It also includes a preliminary Lightning Network implementation by matheusd. Most of the other work was completed by vctt and a new member of the team, bgptr. Many thanks to them for their hard work on this release. This initial support should give users a chance to experience the capabilities of LN while we can also collect user feedback about how to best improve their experience with documentation or help. To enable LN support, please set the new option "ln_enabled" to "true" in your config.json. - Window size responsiveness has been added to most of the pages to allow for graceful change from small, medium and large screen sizes. When in "small" mode, the sidebar is moved to the bottom of the screen much like a mobile app. When in "medium" mode, the sidebar is collapsed shows only icons.
