Hi, I am new to Decred. I think its a good project with great team and vision. I want to do PoS with my Dcr. I am a newbie. Stakepool would be ideal for me because I can't be online all the time. Do you recommend me to join stakepool here https://evolution.dcrstats.com or using paymetheus wallet as you described? What's the difference between the two? Anyone doing the Pos in stakepool can please through some numbers? like if you had 1000 DCR in stakepool, what would be the payouts like daily or monthly? Appx numbers are fine. Thank you. While in the official pools you don't have risk of lose your coins, in evolution this security doesn't exist because you need to send your coins to him. ... So Decred is getting the best of the current bitcoin chain options when/if successfully implemented, though still not quite as good as Monero style ring signatures right? I assume trustless is better than trusted, but I dont really understand it all that well, I just need someone to say if its the best  An anonymous system that isn't trustless and decentralized the dev can create coins and no one knows or keep logs of the transactions and sell them to NSA. I'm not a fan of zcash or zcoin, but this is just misinformation. Yes, the zcash trusted setup could allow the creation of coins that no one could detect on the blockchain (zcoin coin creation was due to an implementation bug, unrelated to this), but as far as anyone knows, the anonymity provided by zcash is trustless - there's no way anyone could "keep logs" of the txs. I didn't refer to zcash. I was talking about what "trustless" means on crypto currencies. |

hello!
i had my dcr wallet offline for a long while because i've lost connection to the host where it's installed.
once the host went online again, i've restarted the wallet and saw how all my live tickets went missed, amen...
i didn't re-enable staking, however after about two months from restart i notice most of my budget is still locked:

why?
when can i expect my dcr to get unlocked?

If "rebroadcastmissed" won't help, recreate your wallet from seed. Be sure, that daemon is fully synced before recreate. Add: I'm not sure is there also 256 block delay, starting from that point where you reconnected your wallet and tickets hit missed. If so, your funds are usable after that (around 24 hours) Maybe you are using an outdated wallet. Try with the last one that is 0.8.2 and can be downloaded at www.decred.orgIf you use windows, the last version of the gui wallet paymetheus is excellent. Very easy to POS mine with it. There's a tutorial with pics on brasil stake pool https://stake.decredbrasil.comIf this doesn't help, it is better to enter on slack, #support channel and talk with a dev. |

Even though the price is as high as ever, I consider investing more in Decred. It seems to be ahead of the hyped DASH, imho. And looking at the Roadmap for 2017 it has a ton of potential. 1) Can someone explain to me how private DCR transactions really are? Is it more like Bitcoinish pseudonymous or Moneroish anonymous?2) Also, what is the best resource page to see which of the proposals are actually implemented?Thanks in advance! edit: While I'm at it, one more question: 3a) What is the average block-time for DCR? Will be the release of v1.0 The out of beta phase. Wallets with gui, POS mining and voting for all OSs. There will also be the first vote on mainnet. I don't want to start a holy war here but could somebody explain me what advantages DCR has over the DASH? How are they differs?
Hey daily_elephant, Decred has a 1 tier network. Dash has a 2 tier network (masternodes). With Decred, your coins are locked after purchasing tickets (voting rights) (constraining the supply). With Dash, you can sell a masternode at any time. With Decred, anyone can vote / participate. With Dash, only the wealthy can participate. With Decred, upgrades are precoded into the chain. The chain automatically switches to the upgrades after a successful "yes" vote. With Dash, the developers must then code the upgrade after the vote and hope everyone switches. Decred is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), designed from the ground up. It has a unique consensus system (which makes an "ethereum classic situation" impossible), is self funding, and is written from scratch in Golang by very well respected bitcoin developers (BTC Suite). Currently it costs 55 DCR but each round this value is changed according to the demand. The ticket has two functions: mining and voting. With a ticket you also express your will in the votes to decide the future of the currency. When your ticket is voted, you receive the amount paid by him (55 DCR) + 1.5 DCR as result of mining. only 10mil marketcap, better now start accumulating than later huge upside potential + alien tech = worth the risk! Yes, alien technology is a big plus. Rumor is that that dev team is actually comprised of aliens. It's obvious that alien tech from planet Vulcan is behind hard fork voting. I heard Spock is in Decred dev team. How else could humans develop a smart blockchain that automatically implements the voting result? |

How come when buying tickets through paymetheus It often says insuffecient funds to construct transaction when I clearly have enough. sometimes 300+ decred cant even buy one 50decred ticket
After a ticket is voted, the coins appear in the wallet but can only be used after 256 blocks (~ 20 hours). There is a small bug in which they appear before as "spendable", but in reality they are not yet. This will be fixed in the next version. |
