From Cryptsy chat just now:
-----
BitJohn
@ofeefee: PHS developers requested it be taken offline due to a fork
-----
I believe coin is already forked and ok atm.

Could you also tell them that they can turn it back on ? TY Wink

dont understand why this is happening, as long as they are on the latest client, I don't see why that would be an issue.  Can we get an update dev?

Where is 1.6.2 download link, I am on 1.6, but header says 1.6.2, so wondering where that is.

Thanks!

All older clients have the bubble in QT or error message in coind 'UPDATEHARDFORK.

Production environments can do getcheckpoint and know instantly if there is an issue. Coinmine has a script which checked git for updates and did them automatically and never had an issue.

I did test deposits/withdrawals which worked fine until 5/1, when one didn't show up I immediately notified them.

The only thing keeping me from buying some PHS is the lack of exchange where you can actually buy them. Cryptsy doesn't count. Whats the point of buying if you can't withdraw?

I wonder why the hell Cryptsy allows withdraws tx to be proceeded if coins are going into outer space instead of destination wallet?

Me too
maybe it's more fun.

I backed up my wallet, and dl'ed and unzipped the 223790.zip update,  am I supposed to replace the files in my 1.5 wallet roaming folder with those? Cause that's what I did. Now it doesn't like the blkindex.dat file and won't load the wallet. What did I do incorrectly, and how do I fix it?

Code:
Fast sync chain download:
=========================

1. Back up wallet.dat or entire directory: (default) always do this
     Win c:/users/username/appdata/roaming/philosopherstone/
     Unix : /home/user/.Philosopherstone
2. Delete all files/folders in your directory above EXCEPT wallet.dat and philosopherstone.conf (if you have one)
3. Unzip files in .zip to above directory (check txleveldb is in philosopherstone directory)
4. run client, (Check help>about Philosopherstone to verify version 1.6.x)!

You deleted or unzipped over them?

I copied them from the unzipped folder to the 1.5 roaming folder.

Now I have deleted everything from the 1.5 roaming folder except the wallet.dat,  and copied the unzipped files to it,  and restarted 1.5,  which is currently dl'ing the blockchain again and still has the hard fork message,  and still says 1.5.0 in the "about" info.

Use 1.6.2

Big thanks to Minar's PHS Pool for supporting PHS from the very start. Its going to be sad seeing these last few PoW blocks being minted, its been an awesome ride!

The good ' ole days with new ASICs pushing miners to new algos and 20 new pos coins out everyday, o wait.  Cheesy

Has been an interesting 290 days.

Is there any new Mac Version available ?? I cannot transfer my coins any more.
I get 'Safe mode: UPDATEHARDFORK (code -2)'  Undecided

+1  Smiley

I can't build one but you can try the repo below, Fabio or Minar might have one, will ask if they can send one and I will post.

If you are seeing the "Update/Update Now Hardfork, etc" messages, and can't upgrade, it's best to just shut it down for now.

Awesome. Does this require the usual sweep-out of PHS appdata and re-download of blockchain?

If you update before the fork, and are on version 1.5x+  you can just run it now! (no blockchain or files delete)

I will put up a quick patch in a bit to deal with a vampire node issue draining bandwidth on some nodes.

Hi,

I cannot compile PHS wallet on Arch
Code:
cd ~ && git clone https://github.com/philosopherstonecoin/philosopherstone && cd philosopherstone && qmake-qt5 philosopherstone-qt.pro && make

Makefile:2409: recipe for target 'build/bitcoin.o' failed
make: *** [build/bitcoin.o] Error 1

By experience, compiling on Ubuntu usually works on Arch. Do you have a Linux binary I could use? Thank you.

I do occasionally release bins  (13.10), and can do one after 1.6 , but haven't had time to update base to 5+, try 48x
272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PHS][PoS] PhilosopherStone | PoS | No Premine | stuff | 1.5.2 on: May 11, 2014, 08:39:16 AM
I've had ~500 PHS stuck in Cryptsy since 05/02 (with bogus txids) and a few back-and-forths with support since then.  It's been terrible and slow - more so than usual.  Here's the last message I got from them:

"Thank you for being so patient and understanding. We are still waiting for the coin developer. They are still working on this.I will be the one updating you once the coins would be posted.Thank you and have a great weekend!"

They've (blatantly) lied to me before, so I was wondering if you can confirm the bolded part.
Also, who doesn't use spaces after full stops?

Thanks,

I think this refers to when I sent a ticket and message to stop the coind as PHS would need to do a hardfork to switch to PoS only, (I would like to do it with a short lead time and not set it a week or more in advance). With a simple Restarting the coind and update to new version after the switch. However, it seems they now have a running coind as multiple users are reporting receiving withdrawals, so they are not waiting?

I was also informed by another dev that apparently they only do this on weekdays, so It just makes it harder for me to plan a 'smooth' transition. Would really like to do this asap, so hopefully it will be turned off Monday.

Lets just move on and hopefully it will resolve with 1.6.0
273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PHS][PoS] PhilosopherStone | PoS | No Premine | stuff | 1.5.2 on: May 11, 2014, 04:39:12 AM
Well, ok, Imma speaking a little about 'you know who'. They won't take care of your tickets, if you try to catch them on chat they'll tell you to write a ticket, if you answer you did they'll tell you to wait. If you insist politely they'll ignore you, if you insist politely a bit more they'll ban you from chat.

And that's all folks !

Simply be patient. Ans tell us if these 'lost in space' pending WTDRW get into your wallets.

Just don't send them your stones

i moving small amounts fine...5, 10, 15, trying 50 now.  I tried 100 yesterday and it hasn't shown up  WHen I asked them they said wallet was in maintenance, but I transferred another 10 from a different account, so that's BS.  I sent them another message today, seems some wallets are ok, some may not be.  The address that had the 100 on it was super old one.  The new coins I just bought seem to be moving.  they always fix it, but without a block explorer you can't prove shit.

This needs to be fixed, can someone set a bounty for it.

If this is true they need to
 getcheckpoint and ensure correct chain
backup wallet and do acheckwallet / repairwallet, which I think they do. although in 'maintenance mode' so should be offline anyway?
Also set reservebalance= in .conf as with any PoS to turn off stake (possible?).
And ofc make sure they didn't run older version with new and double up the blk.dat (should be 120megs)

Either way my test deposits from 5/2 have yet to show up so hopefully their coind is shut down and they wait for a few days after next update/switch (should be up tonight).

If they want to run it regardless they can grab 1.5.2
https://github.com/philosopherstonecoin/philosopherstone
And you can refer to this post, who knows.

there has been 7,500+ stakes generated since hardfork and I have seen some from some older wallets.

i have two tickets open with them, both times they have reported that their wallet is offline and is to be looked at.  They are also having other coin issues it appears, people fussing about btc delays today.  They do appear to responding to me on the tickets.  What I do not get is that if I use small amounts like 5 or 10, they work, but anything higher gets stuck.   I expect they only have a limited amount in the hot wallet, but I can't tell, so just have to wait.

I will be happy when I can transfer my coins to my wallet for some stake!

To receive PHS and have a valid TX the client has to be running in some fashion, and not offline. I'm always available for any technical help they can pm me here anytime or set up a live chat. Seems tickets get varying responses and it's really not a effective communication Chanel for any technical aspects, which I provide in them anyway.

I upgraded from 1.5.0 to 1.5.2 according to the instructions. After full sync I only have a few coins left.

If I check my transaction log it confirms all my deposits and POS mining, but they do not show in my ballance...  Sad

I deleted the data and synced again but still no luck.

Any ideas before I downgrade to 1.5.0?

debug console
checkwallet (mismatch?)
repairwallet

can also compare block height or getcheckpoint to ensure you are synced.

Despite being team manager of Mintcoin, I am new to very high stakes. I thought Mintcoin was crazy high with 20%, I now realise this is not the case.

So pardon my ignorance. Why would you invest in Hobonickel if TEKcoin has an even higher interest? Granted, it goes high but it can also go low. And if your goal is not to sell, why does it matter?

If I can choose with my bank, an offer at 10% interest and another at 15% and that both are equally risky (or risk-free), why would I ever consider the 10% (except fear of a scam)

Probably I misunderstand all of this, thank you to clarify.

Your assumption is that all coins are equal, and will enjoy same level of adoptation and price development.
As for your bank interest rate parable, you should think of it as depositing money in 2 different countries, each with different inflation levels and economic development.
The fact that TEKcoin has such high level of interest rate means the money supply is going to keep prices down, and potentially 40% return in a month may be offset by a 50% drop in price. Also up till recently TEKcoin development was almost non-existant, that combined with massive inflation built in to the coin made me cautious to invest too much in it.

20% interest rate of MintCoin is crazy high if you compare to most high street brick-and-mortar banks, but cryptocurrency cannot be compared to the physical world, yet. 20% price corrections in a single day is not unheard of, and in that light 20%/year interest rate is not much of a hedge against price fluctuations.

PHS price has been very stable despite the recent issues, and with that in mind 50% APR is a pretty sweet deal.

Just my 2 stones.

I am glad I am not the only person who feels the same way.

i'm in as well, bought my piece today.  But without being able to move them out of cryptsy it's a bit of an issue at the moment.

PHS has a good history of volatility, if you look at the chats for the ~200 sat, to ~50k sat move, was some fun times, and of course down too . But yep up till recently was always some nice easy channels, just small sizes.

In other news

POW Mining isn't off yet and is working for the time being and will be done in a short phaseout period with next client.

Could use some PoW miners to smooth out this transition,. Patch is ready and will monitor the situation for best timing.
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PHS][PoS] PhilosopherStone | PoS | No Premine | stuff | 1.5.1 on: May 09, 2014, 12:56:39 AM
PHS Status Update,

PoW mining had been steadily increasing and I wanted to see where it would level off, pow difficulty has stabilized somewhat and stakes and mining are working great. Main issue right now is: getting everyone updated to current 1.5.x chain, so they can get their stakes, which can be helpful with some minor changes that need to be made with PoS only switch. We still have a good deal of old nodes, so will want to give it a few days. Weekends usually are pretty good for updating so we can set up the new client with the switch to POS only in the near future (hardfork 3-7 days after release for 1.6.x) client soon!

For now, I added a non-mandatory incremental update with the unlock for minting only feature, which has been requested a bunch of times. It really doesn't add much security , a real OS compromise would also involve a keylogger , so hopefully this will not give any false sense of security. 'Staking Only'

Seems that Cryptsy withdrawal already working, just receive PHS sent several minutes ago.

5 PHS withdrawal worked, but 950 PHS stucked :/

No idea why withdrawals are working for some, last message I sent was to notify to wait for a hardfork client (no response), this was also confirmed in this thread with a response from cryptsy a day or so later that they would await a new client.

Good catch, it was turned on in the testing branch on the other repo, but will also turn on in main.
