let's say we go full on pos and another stake problem happens then the whole blockchain would be stuck and the coin would just stop ruunning. right now pow took over pos for the time of it being disabled (and that's awesooooome because blockchain keeps running). similar problems in the future would be of a bigger scale if we were on pos only

Sure, A freeze actually is somewhat easier to deal with, since you can just fork right then and there (ex BC), in our case I set a timeframe for the exchanges to update instead of just doing a ninja hardfork. For potential attack vectors, there is always new vectors, in all coins, this is always the case- look at heartbleed and bitcoin, for example. We just have to try to keep up with them and do the best you can. This issue was known, I just wanted to wait on the needed hardfork with the other issues we had last week/2 weeks ago, and not add to confusion. Switching to PoS only will also require another hardfork.  short version if it happened with PoS only would of been easier fix  |

Have you kept up on this thread? It's my understanding that PoW mining will be gone in 359 blocks and PoS will be restored. Does any one use http://phs.minar.cc/ for mining? I am trying to add a withdraw addy but it says it needs email confirmation. Sadly no email ever comes. Has anyone been able to withdraw from this pool?I have. Several times. Have you checked your spam folder(s)? Yahoo mail put my confirmation emails neatly in there by default. I do have a patch waiting for PoW to be turned off (and it will require another fork), and is the goal with PHS (to conserve power). It's really just a matter of when, I always imagined it when ASICs became widespread so that day is soon. I think the longest we should wait is until next block halving, so sometime before that. We can get into this discussion more after we get everyone updated to 1.5. there has been problems with some email domains and minar before, you could try using another email (another .com/.net ) |

I see PHS is STILL having problems of valid FOUND blocks NOT getting accepted by pools.
Why does no one address this very serious flaw in PHS.
Is it the coin code or the pools that are the problem or the stratum code?
I recently tried mining PHS again at Cryptotrolls pool only to watch in horror as several instances of found blocks were not getting accepted...These unaccepted blocks do not show up even as orphans.
Diamond & TAG and many of the POS coins seems to have this problem according and Ahmed Bodi
But it seems a problem with the STRATUM itself as p2p pools seem unaffected.
But there has not been a clear explanation as to why it has NOT been fixed.
I have seen the same problem with NON POS coins like Digigcoin,Emerald,Stable
I would really like to find out why the problem persists.
It makes mining PHS VERY unprofitable at ANY price since one suffers extraordinary variance
I suggest it is hurting peoples confidence in PHS's potential to a great degree (well mine anyway)
POS is well earning it's alternate meaning with this flaw.
Pity as it is one of the few coins with a solid active evolving dev and some class and great POS future potential..If not for this MAJOR flaw
Does anyone know of ANY pools that DON'T experience this problem?
It has been suggested the pools are skimming these blocks, but I don't think that is the case as they would need be accepted by the block chain and credited to an address.
Examination of the block chain shows these found blocks are NOT getting on the chain.
Sadly there have been some cases of this skimming by (NON PHS) pools where the blocks are obviously going to the host wallet, but this should not be confused as the same issue.

I also have a wallet with a few hundred coins from may month ago that I open every few days I have upgraded this wallet 3-4 times now and still have NEVER seen it stake or mint even the slightest fraction of a coin in value..so the POS is total bullshit and has serious flaws also IMHO. Yes it is unlocked and synced and had no in or out tx for over 2 months...
but this problem is secondary and small compared to the unaccepted found blocks issue. And yes, I read carefully all instructions, all to no effect
I set up a couple MPOS pools and there is a setting for POW or POS in their config, which, if set incorrectly, could cause this issue. properly set up like phsblocks (pool closed)and minar do not have this issue to my knowledge, but it could also be something else. Maybe on of those pool ops can answer, you could also try to set up your own mpos. I know Trip had this issue the first day or two with his PHS pool. (also turn off tx option in strat setting) Stake is turned off atm but if you look at the blockchain there was more than enough stakes being generated(difficulty was growing as well). I can help resolve your issue in PM soon as I get everyone updated. |

When will my coins stake?! It seems they never stake... just stay in my wallet like forever.
Normally minting starts after 5-10 days coin age, there was a bug fixed by palmdetroit, update the new wallet and wait for the hardfork (<2 days). @mintpal They have added 365 anyway and faircoin cheated even trade is running. PHS is close to top-100, without payed voting i guess top-50, this is "bela figura" and more is possible, vote 5x every hour: https://www.mintpal.com/voting#PHSI asked vircurex.com about PHS, any other potentially exchanges out there? I think that exchange (vircurex) is also having problems with user coins (at least someone sent me a pm saying they have been having issues), maybe someone can elaborate as I haven't used them recently. There is 3 exchanges that have contacted me with interest in adding PHS and they will post when/if they desire. (2 of these are new exchanges and I provided technical information) in other news: Almost 40% of nodes have updated and this is not terrible as most nodes just run the client and only update when there is a problem. I will contact exchanges and pools one more time and send out an alert to older clients today. |

so i was on 1.4.1 and just replaced the qt with the 1.5 qt client, but it didn 't resync
did i miss something?
hi, I tested it multiple times and it worked fine from 1.4.1. Make sure you are running 1.5 (help about) , if so you may just need to let it run for a bit to fix itself up. If this doesn't help you may need to do a fresh chain sync (see original post). |

Why is that every time I try to buy PHS, it grows an erection on Cryptsy. trades down to 10000 satoshi then BOOM, 14000 like a plastic bag in the wind. I am a strong support of this coin and its dedicated community. Minors setbacks equal major comebacks.
hard to say could be someone selling it down?  10k to 14k 40% . Most likely miners as it is profitable now for sure. Update: I am running some testnets to see if we can squeeze in another beneficial update to stakeholders with upcoming client. |

I would like to set up a P2Pool for PhilosopherStone, but I am unable to find the source code needed to build a compatible P2Pool.
I think that building a repo for everyone to use would be very useful.

PHS update - Stake IssueEarlier this morning UTC time we had a stake block with a invalid timestamp enter the chain, followed by a normal stake, which has caused the chain to enter PoW only for the time being. Those of you who follow Blackcoin may remember this froze the blackcoin chain a few weeks ago: "timebomb" Reference: http://www.blackcoin.co/wallet-2/official-statement-regarding-blockchain-problems-23rd-of-march/Since Blackcoin was PoS only at that time this caused their chain to freeze, in the case of PHS since we have a hybrid PoW/PoS the PoW continues on. This is causing some larger variations in the block times (tx take longer than normal). I had already looked at this flaw and was prepared to patch this in the future anyway (when the time came the community wished PHS to become PoS only, and to disable PoW), but this update does require a hard fork update, which I wanted to wait on until all clients have updated to the current client. I will look to see the best way to handle this going forward, leaning towards a switch time in the near future to give everyone time to update. This patch is needed regardless, but just wanted everyone to be informed. It is most likely a good time to switch your miners to PHS for a bit. Thanks Edit: FWIW - stake time continues to accumulate on unmoved balances.

I cannot confirm further problems, Cryptsy solved their wallet issues, more the PHS network had a delay ("last block 1hour") for me, beside this a deposit arrived fast, tested 5min ago.
I concur, sent 5 test deposits over last hour or so all showed up, the last bock one hour was due to a bad pos, if you are minting and experience orphans please check your computer time or have it auto correct. Will do a patch for this soon. |

Hm... My yesterday's deposits and withdrawals worked normally again on Cryptsy.

Hi,
Bought 90 coins at cryptsy and unable to withdraw , I get an internal error so they are not even being sent.
Sent a ticket and was told to try another browser and clear cookies etc. Still no joy.
Just informed Cryptsy of this, and came here to check i was on the right block 206378.
Does this sound right.
