AFAIK it is not yet possible to mine without fglrx (until someone works on this bounty).
1562  Other / Obsolete (selling) / 10 x HD 6990 - SOLD on: June 14, 2011, 09:53:40 AM
Edit: sold.

10 x Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6990 for sale. All brand new. 80 BTC each.

(I cannot lower the price due to extreme volatility. Sorry...)

1563  Economy / Marketplace / Re: The fastest HD 69xx miner. 250 BTC. on: June 14, 2011, 09:14:37 AM
Yep you are missing something.

hdminer's target market is not you the home user, but cluster owners who operate 20+ GPUs and are power or cooling constrained (eg. power circuits at 80% utilization per the US National Electric Code), yet need that +6.3% perf improvement without increasing power consumption or cooling needs.

1565  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: 5 Million and 100 Million Papiermark Bills - Prices are low while Bitcoin is low on: June 12, 2011, 08:53:49 AM
Heh, this reminds me I have 1920s German stamps bearing hyperinflated Mark values. I think the highest one is 2 billion Marks. This 10000-stamp collection was given to me by my grandmother.
1566  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Maxed out my extension cord! on: June 11, 2011, 09:38:38 AM
No, a 13 amp breaker/surge protector may trip, but it cannot explain a poor Mhash/s of your GPUs.
1567  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Here are some IN-STOCK 5830s for your viewing & buying pleasure. on: June 10, 2011, 05:31:15 AM
Jan 2011 AMD reported sales of 5xxx and 6xxx GPUs had sold more than 35 million units. Do you really think that 20000 more 6870s makes any difference at all? (20,000 / 35,000,000 = .06%)

The majority of AMD's GPU sales, those that are in the millions, are low-end GPUs. Think the 6400, 6500, 6600, and 6700 series.

The high-end series 6800 and 6900 account for only a few 100 thousand GPUs. The 6990 is only manufactured in the quantity of a few tens of thousands of units, worldwide.
1568  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Here are some IN-STOCK 5830s for your viewing & buying pleasure. on: June 10, 2011, 05:22:41 AM
I keep hearing about the massive buying power of the bitcoin community...

later:
Well this thread put up about 500 but they managed to sell out in a day. Impressive.

I trust you are convinced about the purchasing power of the community now...  Wink

I received the 5970. Thanks.
Are you GarrettB on IRC (for your rating)?
1570  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Bitcoin press hits, notable sources on: June 08, 2011, 07:30:27 AM
Yes, I too applaud Jeff's effort to distance Bitcoin from some dubious users (Silk Road), and to emphasize its openness and the importance for the community to comply with financial regulations.
1571  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How many GPUs can Windows 7 Support? on: June 05, 2011, 10:27:33 PM
This PSU can handle 2x6950 & 2x5850, assuming you don't have insane overclocks, or other hardware in this machine that is very power hungry. The PSU claims to support 80A on the combined 12V rails, whereas the GPUs need only 59A @ 12V, leaving 21A (252W) for the rest of the system.

Yeah he is at 55 Gh/s today.

Vladimir:  Cheesy So, are you below or above 38 Ghash/s now? (Last time you said you were below ArtForz's 38 Gh/s)

In the same spirit, I racked these little guys today:

Link to the detailed specs of your exact model of PSU. There are multiple Kingwin 1kW.
1575  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How many GPUs can Windows 7 Support? on: June 04, 2011, 05:00:04 AM
I'm still waiting for proof of this claim I've seen multiple times.
For example: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100993 is a 6 gpu setup running under windows. 3 physical cards, 6 physical cores.

The 4-GPU Windows limit applies to AMD GPUs, not Nvidia.

You will find plenty of examples of people running 8 Nvidia GPUs on Windows (such as your link), but never AMD. I myself tried 4 x HD 5970 in Windows 7 64-bit with Catalyst 10.12, but I could never get any CAL app to use all 8 GPUs.
1576  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: [AUCTION] 5870 and 5970 on: June 02, 2011, 05:23:21 PM
Garrett and I finalized the transaction. I sent him 70 BTC.

I would appreciate if you rated me on #bitcoin-otc. My username is "mrb_".
1577  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Embedable Javascript Bitcoin miner for your website on: June 02, 2011, 09:07:05 AM
That "cookie stuffing", I see.

Well it does not change my point. It won't work to execute js code. When you are cookie stuffing, the browser is just interpreting the HTTP headers and will accept the stuffed cookie. It still won't interpret HTML or execute js code referenced by the <img> tag.

If you want to see for yourself, well try it here on SMF.
1578  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Embedable Javascript Bitcoin miner for your website on: June 02, 2011, 08:51:00 AM
No, this cannot work. If the forum software translates [img]http://YOURDOMAIN.com/YOURPICTURE.jpeg[/img] to a regular image tag <img src="..."/> then no matter what reply YOURDOMAIN.com sends back, the browser will only interpret this as an image.

This technique can be used to steal cookies (what you call "stuff cookies"), but it cannot be used to run arbitrary js code on the client (victim) side.
1579  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: [AUCTION] 5870 and 5970 on: June 02, 2011, 05:26:56 AM
jgarzik: I would gladly get out of this auction. (I found a supply of 6990s.) I won't outbid you or whoever bids 71 BTC.

However, if I were to win this auction, I will of course oblige and pay Garrett Burgwardt.
