281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: will Altcoins Survive on: January 11, 2018, 05:55:12 PM
Will Altcoins survive as bitcoin is going higher and higher and the demand is getting increasing every day, what will happens to altcoins
Only those coins which deliver some features which are not found in bitcoin would survive. For example coins like monero, zcash are well known for their complete anonymous nature of transactions which is not found in bitcoin. Both the bitcoin and altcoin market would travel parallel as both are inter dependent on each other for their  progress. But most of the pumped shitcoins would disappear.
282  Economy / Economics / Re: European Union official suggests that Bitcoin will not be regulated on: January 04, 2018, 12:34:37 PM
Regulators in Europe have tried to pressure the European Commission to put Bitcoin under a magnifying glass in one way or another. However, there are other characters that sometimes make us believe that these efforts are over, at least for now.

Yeah it is highly impossible to regulate the use of bitcoin because it is anonymous and there is no way to trace the usage of bitcoiners. So no government can put rules and regulation for using bitcoin.

That just simply isn't true. There are actually people that have professions of tracking within the blockchain, and they sure as hell do a pretty good job cause most people don't do their due dilligence when it comes to using Bitcoin as they don't even make it more secure for themselves. Bitcoin can be made more secure and anon, away from the watchful eye of people who want to know what you're doing -- but it isn't easy.

Bitcoin will be regulated heavily, but only when itis something that is hurting the big powers.
Yes they could do it to some extent. But what the major thing that they could possibly do is to regulate bitcoin exchanges and ask them to strictly follow the KYC for the users so that bitcoin users could be traced.
283  Economy / Economics / Re: Is this the end for bitcoins ? on: January 04, 2018, 12:07:25 PM
Very recently I read an article , which assumed bitcoins to be exactly like the Dutch tulip mania , the Mississippi bubble and the south sea bubble.

The author of that article (which was published in the economic times ) said it's now time to move away from bitcoins , the market has ended and the sooner you forfeit the lesser will be your loss.

What do you guys think about it ?

Tulip mania was entirely different from bitcoin. Actually, tulips had no other use than used as a decoration. It was totally sold in contracts in which many traded tulips even without holding it. But is not like that.

Bitcoin has uses as a payment currency other than just as a store value. It's true that bitcoin is not used as a currency mostly due to high transaction fee. But soon by activation of lightning network, it would once be used more as currency for payments. So,there is no chance for bitcoin to get crashed like tulips bubble.
284  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is probably a short-term bubble guys. on: December 17, 2017, 11:58:10 PM
No its not a bubble.Any asset or stock which is over valued than its true value only could be termed as a bubble.I hope that bitcoin is not over valued.Also,bitcoin.is not only an asset as it is considered nowadays. It is.also used as a currency but mostly in Japan Where it has been legalized. But most bigger co companies like amazon are in an idea to accept bitcoin. Also, traders regularly buy and sell bitcoins thus the demand would continuously remain.So.bitcoin is not surely a bubble.
285  Economy / Economics / Re: The Richest 1% Now Own More Than 50% of the World’s Wealth on: December 17, 2017, 11:56:06 PM
Yes,the wealth is unevenly distributed among the society.Rich get more richer while the poor become more poorer. This is the greatest disadvantage of today's economic system. But bitcoin is slowly changing this scenario.Even in bitcoin too, rich people get more richer. But it also provides
more opportunities to unemployed poor people. What they need is a laptop or smartphone and an internet connection to enter bitcoin world.
286  Economy / Economics / Re: why is the price at localbitcoins so much higher? on: December 17, 2017, 11:54:22 PM
As per subject header, I noted that the price quoted on localbitcoins is much higher that the actual BTC price.

An example, as of now: BTC is trading at (my country Singapore) S$23,900 but on localbitcoins, sellers are quoting S$26,000 plus.

Why so? I do understand that there is a TX fee and some profit margin for the seller, but S$3000+?

I might as well buy from coinbase and sell BTC at localbitcoins to make a profit..??

Its because its the individual sellers who sell bitcoins there.Localbitcoins.com is not an exchange.Even we too can register in it and start selling our bitcoins. We could mostly buy bitcoins here even without disclosing any of our personal details. It's available in almost 249 countries. No big formalities needed.
287  Economy / Economics / Re: STOP #HODL go #INWEST on: December 17, 2017, 11:52:40 PM
Do not #HODL go #INWEST support start-ups

"INWEST"? What does that mean? Do you mean Invest? As in short for Investment?

Investing in Bitcoin is the same has holding Bitcoin. If you're investing in startups you're not directly investing in Bitcoin. And Bitcoin has gone up in value more than an investment in a start up this year!

I'd be keeping my coin in Bitcoin, let the start ups earn income through their operations or direct investment from their founders.
Yes both investing and holding are the same.If OP mentions buying  altcoins as investing, then there is no assurance that altcoins would give huge profits when compared to bitcoin.Best option would be to just hold bitcoins as it's price is going towardsmew ATH.Entry of wall street firms has increased the expectations more.
288  Economy / Economics / Re: Still Buying Bitcoin at $100K? on: December 17, 2017, 11:50:35 PM
I think that i would take even an year to return to this topic as at that time only,we could reach that price limit. But more analysts fear that bitcoin price could crash as what happened in tulip bubble as big corporates may dump bitcoins.Bitcoin has more challenges to face before reaching that price.
289  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin futures don't (directly) affect Bitcoin price on: December 17, 2017, 11:48:37 PM
Yes,it would not directly affect bitcoin price. It would exist as gold futures, oil futures, etc.Bitcoin futures would have a positive impact on investors mind which would help bitcoin price rise more. But the main thing is that bitcoin futures has brought even institutional investors in to the bitcoin market. But what is the interesting aspect is that the sealing rate has been kept as $20,000 and so,price manipulation could not be done more.
290  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin futures trading on: December 17, 2017, 11:47:08 PM
How do you see Bitcoin futures trading on the CBOE this Sunday affecting the price of Bitcoin moving forward?
I think it has lead to increase in bitcoin' price as well as it has avoided bitcoin price from falling i.e., no fluctuation. It has made bitcoin price to move steadily upward without any dip.Earlier CME announced that it would launch bitcoin futures and list it on 18th december while CBOE stole that golden opportunity by announcing that it would launch and list bitcoin futures on 10th december itself, almost one week before CME's listing.
291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is there such demand for Bitcoin? on: December 17, 2017, 05:56:35 PM
People were earlier fed up with government currencies which are not immune to inflation and their huge taxation. Now they are finding bitcoin to be a safe haven. Its limited supply gives some assurance for its value.People found it to survive successfully despite obstacles made by governments.More over, entry of financial firms like CME and CBOE  and media exposure made it popular all over the world.
292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Basic Question About Crypto Wallets on: December 17, 2017, 05:47:53 PM
I installed a Android wallet called Bread.  It works great and currently doesn't have any money on it.

I wanted to transfer my account  to Electrum.  So when I set up Electrum, I clicked on import key and used my address from Bread which has no money (as a test)   Now, it appears to work- which actually concerns me Grin

It appears to me that anyone can get your wallet money as long as they have your address.  Is that right?  It doesn't sound right to me as when you send money to anyone that would get the address you are sending it from- so anyone can steal anyone's bitcoins.  What am I missing?
See the address is which you mention to receive bitcoins in to your wallet. It is publicly displayed no compromise in security of your wallet by displaying it.Private key is the seed generated when you open a new electrum wallet. It should be kept safe.Unless a thief gets access to your private keys, your bitcoins would remain safe in your wallet.
293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin HAS FAILED on: December 17, 2017, 05:33:29 PM
You are looking forward to bitcoin failing but i'm sorry to say that it would only remain a dream.I too accept that transaction fee is higher but we should analyze the reason behind it.As CME and CBOE announced the launch of bitcoin futures, bitcoin price suddenly rose to almost $17,000 which made many bitcoin holders to decide to sell and get huge profits. As a result of huge selling at the same time, around 220,000 transactions got stuck. This was the main reason for high transaction fee.Its only a temporary issue.Segwit activation did not solved this issue.Lightning network is in its beta stage.Very soon when it gets activated, this issue would get solved.
294  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How do I identify genuine mining opportunities? on: December 16, 2017, 11:38:14 PM
With scammers everywhere wanting to capitalize on one's lack of knowledge, how can I idenify which mining opportunities are genuine to avoid falling victim to scammers. Help out with whatever knowledge and experiences you might have.
Majority of cloud mining farms are scam. You could try genesis mining as it is said to be legit. You could find three plans based on the hash rate.It is sad that you would have to wait atleast for six months patiently to get back your invested money.Indeed you could even mine some altcoins with GPU systems itself in home and sell them for bitcoins.
295  Economy / Marketplace / Re: LOOKING TO INVEST MY LIFE SAVINGS NEED ADVICE on: December 16, 2017, 11:36:36 PM
Hello Everyone,

I need your help! I have been doing research on what hardware to buy to mine Ether and Bitcoin. I'm investing my life savings so this is really serious for me so if you can help it would mean alot. I have alot of space for equipment so that wont be a problem. I need help figuring out what equipment to buy for ether and bitcoin minning, and how much it will cost me? Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thank you
Smiley
I would say that it would be better for you to buy bitcoins with half of your investment and remaining amount in mining.First ensure that cheap electricity is available in your area for more profits.Ethereum could be mined with even GPU systems. You should buy ASIC miners for mining bitcoins as its not as easy as before now.China is the leading manufacturer of ASIC miners at low price.Bitmain is the leading manufacturer there.By this way,you cold enjoy income from both holding and mining bitcoins.
296  Economy / Speculation / Re: what will happen with the BTC, if the dollar falls on: December 16, 2017, 11:33:09 PM
Even if the dollar falls,it would not affect bitcoin's price.Bitcoin would be valued in other currencies.Already, bitcoin's value is shown in all currencies and a price fall in one currency would not affect the value of bitcoin in the other currency. If US dollar totally crashes, then universally bitcoin would get valued in euros or yuan whatever replces dollar.I think that it may happen soon since USD is in its last stage as global reserve currency.
297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: By the time you figure out why Bitcoin has risen, it will crash. Here's why on: December 16, 2017, 11:23:07 PM
OP's post seems to me a nonsense. He is saying that since bitcoin exchanges were shut down in china, large volume of bitcoins were not able to be sold.SO,demand for bitcoin was high but supply was low.Hence the price rise.that's totally rubbish.

Also,OP says that when once again bitcoin price rises, china will open exchanges and bitcoin price would crash.First of all,OP should understand that the large trade volume shown in chinese exchanges were fake volumes and it has nothing to do with bitcoin's price. That's why, despite ban on chinese exchanges, bitcoin price continued to surge.
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will any Crypto Surpass Bitcoin on: December 16, 2017, 11:10:38 PM
I just woke up this morning and saw the recent price of bitcoin and its really alarming high! so i wanted to know, could there ever be a crypto that surpasses the mighty Bitcoin??
No.Not yet.No altcoin seems to have the potential to surpass bitcoin.Ethereum was once expected. Then monero and zcash  were expected since they offer full anonymity of all transactions but they too failed. Now,bitcoin seems to continue even for years as king of crypto currencies. Its really hard for any decentralized currency to get trust among the investor all over the world being not supported by any governments and bitcoin has attained that trust.I think that its hardly impossible for any other crypto currency to get such a huge trust.
299  Economy / Speculation / Re: What does the Chinese market now consist of? on: December 16, 2017, 05:57:00 PM
They're still mining like mad, there must be many thousands of people who hold some BTC still.

How are they trading? Is there masses of OTC and P2P? Is it possible for them to get on Korean and Japanese exchanges?

Many predicted that after their big fat congress they'd reinstate some sort of exchange functionality. That doesn't appear to have happened.

Will they go for a full clamp down including attempting to squash non centralised trading?
Chinese people have shifted their trading activities to countersales. They do P2P trading and they use telegram chats for such trading activities.Since telegram chat seems to be encrypted, they find it safe to use it.They are not ready to give up.The only change happened is that the miners find it difficult to sell their mined bitcoins in the market since exchanges have been shut down.
300  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin reach 25,000$ at this year end ?? on: December 16, 2017, 05:52:14 PM
Now the price of bitcoin move towards  16800,so I think the price of bitcoin will move towards 25,000$ at this year end.
The price of bitcoin will reach 20k$ at this year end or 25k$ ??

So what is your opinion about this?
Already, bitcoin price has reached $18,760 today. With almost two more weeks for the year end,$20,000 price will be easily reached. If bitcoin price continues to move in this bullish trend,$25,000 price may seem to get reached in the last week of this year.Already CBOE has listed bitcoin futures in the exchange on 10th december.CME listing bitcoin futures on 18th december would definitely boost bitcoin price more.
