wouldn't some people have botnets too to get a little extra bitcoin from faucets? i'm sure some bots would be able to crack capthcas on some of these faucets. i'd imagine they'd make a good amount of bitcoin by running a botnet on bitcoin faucets.
this is a good theory , and something i'd actually belive cause i have a hard time beliving there's people spending countless hours doing the captcha's :>
OCRs have very low accuracy, they take sometime before it solves the captcha. The ads in the browser could cause computers to slow down and become noticeable. Most faucet uses either recaptcha or solvemedia which is close to impossible to solve using OCRs right now. Think about it, if owners knows their captcha can be solve by OCR s, they would likely to change it as repeated viewing would yield less profits.
yup , indeed i doubt there's bots solving them which makes it weird that faucet owners profit at all from people using these facuets.

Not exactly as there are good signature campaigns for newbies too and one can make more than they earn in faucets: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0;topicseen

When you keep posting here, you can achieve the next status soon and then can apply for a better signature campaign.

Yes, but like someone said, newbies are sometimes unable to make constructive posts, and the only way to truly understand bitcoin is to send some around. Newbies make 60 satoshis per post in a signature campaign every 4 minutes. (Due to the time limit, newbies can only post every 4 minutes) While faucets give 100 satoshis or more every 30 seconds. Newbies might make an account here, but they will also go to faucets, as faucets have better pay then their own signature campaign.

Also, in future, quoting someone elses post and editing it looks weird. I look like I'm making a point to myself, lol.
newbie signature campaigns pay out 0.00005 BTC / POST which is , quite alot more than what a faucet pays out

Oh yeah, I misread, my mistake. So 5000 satoshis every 4 minutes. Some newbies find faucets easier though. Not sure why. Then again, if you can somehow get tons of referals at faucets, you can get a decent amount of satoshis.
you'd need a shitton of refeerals Tongue

I noticed that it's better than mining for (absolute/lazy n00bs). I still prefer pools.
sure , mining is even a bigger waste unless you have a asiic i guess , but if you can do faucets you can do signature campaigns rite ? :>

My point being , there's so many other much more profitable ways to be earning bitcoins can someone explain to me who the people using these are ? and why.
Not, there aren't many other alternatives for most of beginners.

In the services forum there aren't so many works, and most of them are PHP related.
there's signature campaigns , paying way more than what the faucets do though.

I'm with you bro.  When I got into bitcoin (price was $11), I looked at the faucets and saw that people are spending a lot of time to hunt down 3 cents worth of Bitcoin.   I asked myself the question your posing.   I've decided faucet users are either clueless, living in a country where 3 cents is worth something, or basically ... children.

How many children come on here to debate I wonder.  Roll Eyes

I'm glad I didn't waste a minute on that crap, and instead went into my storage closet to see what I can sell for bitcoin.   Best decision I ever made.  But hey "there are reasons for and against faucets"... yeah, right!

still , children could just ask their parents for 3 bucks and they'd have more money than they'd earn in a week. and if you live in a poor country , where 3 cents is worth something , i dont think you'd have a pc in the first place.

Earn extra money using faucets ? ,the points is they'd earn more money stealing from the poorest people alive  Roll Eyes

faucet should reward you more, maybe adding captcha to solve with it, cuz right now they are useless really
all faucets i know of , already use captcha right ? : > please inform me if im wrong
596  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help me understand - Who uses Faucets? , and why? on: February 14, 2015, 10:45:52 PM
Well, it's a great way for newbies to get their hands on their first satoshis. Also, if you manage to somehow get a lot of referrals, you can get a decent amount.
a better way is to sign up to a campaign , and at the same time be able to actually learn something new at the same time , at a faucet you simply type random captcha's

You would make more at a faucet then at a newbie signature campaign, so that's why newbies go to faucets.
newbie's can earn 0.00005 per post , which i belive is more than any faucet out there ? if not , please tell me which

Easiest answer ever.

Who uses Faucets and why?

NOOBS, because they're uninformed.  You get more money checking your couch cushions for change.
this is kind of what i think aswell, i do understand why someone would use a faucets 1-2 times though , but obviously since faucet owners are profiting there has to be people spending hours after hours typing captcha and i can help but feel bad for them would be awesome to get one of them in this thread :>

I just don't understand what does the Faucet get out of it? Is it for advertising purposes?
yea , they get publicity to their website ( domain goes up in value ) and their getting income from adsense , etc

just so you guys know, I have already earned over 0.30 bitcoin from faucet referral commissions in the last 6 months. It was not hard work and it continues to pay me daily. It's great to help cover some of the transaction fees and it pays for my hosting.  Cool

People that say faucets are a waste of time and just lazy with no unique ideas.  Wink

Good luck to all and let's make the bitcoin community bigger.
Alright , how did you get those referral's ? if it was with a signature , you could get atleast 1-2 btc in 6 month time making it a waste.
and im mostly , talking about the newbs using the faucets i understand why faucets keep getting made etc , i just dont understand whom the people using them actively are
