661  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Totally new. Without a clue. on: February 12, 2015, 07:25:07 PM
Can anyone explain to me how Bitcoins work?

You run software on your computer or smartphone called a "wallet".  The wallet software communicates with the Bitcoin network and allows you to send and receive bitcoins.  It keeps track of the total amount of bitcoins you control.  Using your wallet software you can generate a "bitcoin address".  A bitcoin address can be given out, and when someone uses their wallet to send bitcoins to that address, they will show up in your wallet. If you use a new address for every transaction, then you can see in your wallet who sent you bitcoins and when.

How to safely purchase bitcoins?

That depends on where you live.

Some possibilities are:
  • Coinbase
  • BitStamp
  • Bitfinex
  • Circle
  • LocalBitcoins

Also explain to me how they are electronically stored and where?

Every transaction that has ever occurred with Bitcoin is permanently recorded in a public ledger called "the blockchain".  Every full node peer on the Bitcoin network stores a complete copy of the blockchain.  When you send or receive bitcoins, the transaction is transmitted by your wallet onto the Bitcoin network.  The peers relay it until almost all node are aware of it.  Eventually the transaction is confirmed into a block which is added to the blockchain.

Your wallet software is aware of which addresses it is able to accept transactions at.  It scans the entire blockchain and adds up all the unspent transaction outputs that were sent to addresses that your wallet has control over.
whew , you've made the best post so far imo , to the newbie i belive that checking the what is bitcoin etc video's will help you out alot , that's how i got started atleast.
662  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the Recent Bitcoin Crash is Normal? on: February 12, 2015, 07:21:20 PM
it took a billion years untill people slowly started using dollars , it's only been a few years since bitcoin existed , just be patient. People will realise how revolutionary cryptocurrencies are and that's when we'll start seeing uptrends.

This coin seems really intresting to me , not sure why its getting called out for being a scam. if that team is real , there's some real known people etc in and i have a hard time beliving it would be a scam if that team is true. however , it will be intresting to see how this does. Im waiting for the whitepaper untill i judge :>
667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [KOBO] Kobocoin - A West African peer to peer micropayment system on: February 12, 2015, 03:56:23 PM
Its good time to buy Kobo, in my opinion price will grow up.
it wont grow up , this coin is completly utterly useless in growing up , it cant grow my friend. ALL this coin can do , is make the world a better place and stabalize an economy at moon , that even aliens will be able to use and together we will make this coin the biggest and greatest of all times. Also making sure the price hits a million dollar each and we'll all be rich , but we wont care about the money we'll be happy we were in the beginning and we'll brag about it to the aliens : >

670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Help us choose the next crypto project you'd like to see crowdfunded! on: February 11, 2015, 08:00:25 PM
so this is an altcoin announcement ?

We normally do crowd-sales for tokenized projects, such as our most recent, GetGems.

We're open to tokenized projects, or a straight donation based crowd fund for this upcoming project. We wanted to get the whole scenes input.
please just move the thread , we're sick of people making threads that arent new coins , this does NOT belong here.
671  Other / Meta / Re: User spamming the question: Do you accept escrow? on: February 11, 2015, 07:04:49 PM
As a matter of balance, I did trade with josef2000. I found him a bit difficult to talk to (maybe he's a teenager or has ADHD?), but the trade went fine.
2000 = year 2000 aka 14 / 15 years probably , its possible that he's a big trader and dont wanna get scammed.
672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Permanently keeping the 1MB (anti-spam) restriction is a great idea ... on: February 11, 2015, 06:33:31 PM
Did you cry as much about the upgrade from 32bit to 64bit operating systems?

Or from 1.44 MB floppy disks to 200 MB CDs?

I'm still using floppies, I don't know why anyone would think they are obsolete.

But I still need to upgrade my operating system, so I think this will be a long night.

dayum , floppies that were the timse man ! didnt know people actually still used them , and now i want to use them : >

Or it will go to 100ish then we will see the uptrend.

680  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: New method of 51% attack? on: February 11, 2015, 03:25:46 PM
this would require way to much power to do , and i mean like way to much and the user would just end up getting blacklisted anyways.
