81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin anarchy on: August 18, 2018, 04:45:09 PM
Bitcoin is weak in what sense? In the sense of the userbase? Because the network itself is more robust than ever. It is true that most of the community is no longer anarchists and libertarians. The user base grew significantly in 2017 and most of those people are get rich quick noobs that know nothing about Bitcoin (most don't even know what the halving is). This is always something that happens with technology. The original community is dwarfed by the new users when it goes mainstream. Bitcoin is still an independent currency, nothing has changed there. The only thing that has really changed in terms of regulation is KYC rules that exchanges have been enforcing, Bitcoin itself is still fine in this regard.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Looking for opinions on asset backed coins. Looking at QuantmRE. Any thoughts? on: August 18, 2018, 01:14:15 AM
I would stay away from any coin that is asset-backed. In order for it to truly be backed by assets, it needs to be centralized. Cryptocurrency is not for centralization, it just does not make sense period. So a centralized cryptocurrency is essentially pointless. Not to mention actually backing crypto by assets is not an easy task, and state actors could easily shut it down and seize the assets if they "deem" any activity as illegal activity. So you have a higher risk of asset backed cryptocurrencies being destroyed and becoming worthless IMO.
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which are the 3 best coins of the top 20 from coinmarketcap on: August 18, 2018, 12:45:38 AM
Do not get smaller coins, or newer coins promising advanced tech. These coins have not withstood the time, and are typically subject to serious bugs (EOS for example). There are three coins you should always hold besides Bitcoin, and three coins only.

1. Litecoin. Litecoin is an alternative to silver, just like how Bitcoin is an alternative to gold. It is digital Silver/Silver 2.0. It is the second altcoin ever and has a relatively large network. It is worth holding for sure.

2. Ethereum. Ethereum has one of the largest networks and has the most developers working on it. Ethereum processes a ton of TXs/day and has a great core team working on the cutting edge technology for true on-chain scaling.

3. Monero. Monero is one of the only privacy coins that actually work. Monero has been around since 2014, and is well worth the hold. Always diversify into a privacy coin, and Monero is by far the best one.

Take it from me, I have been in this game for a while. I have seen a ton of coins get massively hyped up, fail to deliver, and disappear within 2 years. These coins have withstood the test of time, and are the only alts truly worth holding. Every other coin is completely redundant.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC will hit 500++ on july 15 2019 on: August 17, 2018, 11:36:57 PM
I am a large hodler of LTC, finally a thread about LTC speculation. I don't know if $500 will be possible around July, but I am certain we will see $500 within the next two years. It's hard to say how the halving will affect the price this time around. Last time the market was much smaller and it was largely speculation. I think about 6 months after the halving, the market will react to the smaller amount of BTC being dumped on the market. Obviously the demand for litecoin will grow over the next two years, it has no reason not to. There is a very bullish future for Lite IMO.

But seriously, this thread does belong in the altcoin speculation sub-forum. This speculation sub-forum is purely for Bitcoin.
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With Bitcoin Sinking, Crypto Miners Just Dig Deeper on: August 17, 2018, 06:46:49 PM
Profitability isn't really an issue at current levels.

The insane OTC demand for virgin coins has increased to such degree, that miners aren't selling their coins for $6000 but $8000 and upwards. It's nearly impossible to buy mint as individual, unless you want to pay the insane premiums, but not everyone can afford that, especially with how the minimum is calculated per block instead of individual coins.

Wow, I have never heard of this before. There are people that will pay a premium to buy newly minted Bitcoin? Why is this? Is it because there is no lineage for the coins? Is it a psychological thing, knowing that you are the only one to have held those coins? Or is because like you said, they want to make sure it hasn't been used for illegal activity? This is new to me. Miners are making even more of a killing than what I have thought. I had no clue that newly minted coins could be sold at a premium.

Can confirm payment has been received. Thanks Zapo!

As for the updated rules, I love them! Every one of them is justified, and reducing the altcoin posts is a great idea. Keep it up!
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 97% bitcoin gold crash should feel like a bad omen to you on: August 14, 2018, 06:17:59 PM
bitcoin gold crashed 97% it was once traded at 500 usd and now its just 17 usd,

this is the first bitcoin fork, out there and it is basically gone. when bitcoins forks collapse the next will be bitcoin, you guys then will stand like a sect in a ocean of cryptocurrencies

Bitcoin gold was not the first Bitcoin fork like your posts says. This sort of invalidates the rest of your point, as you got something so fundamental wrong. Bitcoin cash was the true first Bitcoin fork. And how do forks dying off point towards Bitcoin eventually dying off? That is some really stupid logic. So if Fools Gold starts dying off, does that mean real gold will be dying off soon?

No.

These are just knockoffs of the real thing. Obviously the forks were going to die one day, some take longer than others. But the forks dying have 0 effect on Bitcoin. Acutally, if anything it would have a positive effect. The money from the fake Bitcoins will just flow back and reconsolidate into the real Bitcoin.
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Shows Resilience on: August 14, 2018, 03:31:24 PM
August 13: Crypto markets have today failed to sustain their short-lived recovery, with Ethereum (ETH) plummeting to a multi-month low below $300 and only a scant few altcoins spared from the widespread losses, as Coin360 data shows. Bitcoin (BTC) is seeing only minor losses on the day

Well i think btc has already hit bottom at a little below 6k so i don't expect there will be any considerable drop for it anymore. Probably will play around it's current value with dips and rise but nothing drastic.

I'm not sure about this... This is the fourth (fifth?) time Bitcoin has hit these low $6k price points. We briefly dipped below $6k and are just barely hovering above it. I think we will be seeing the price drop deepen a bit more, possibly heading down to the low $5k range. I just can't see a bull run starting right now, because its recovered off the low $6k range a number of times now, I don't think it will happen again this time. Could be a month or two before we go back above $6k.
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Invest in altcoins today or maybe later? on: August 14, 2018, 03:26:59 PM
Base on what I observed,  since market turns red and I think this the best way to invest in altcoins because I’am positive enough it will go up sooner when bullrun hits the mark this bear months. Do you also plan to HODL coins for so long? Your ideas are pleasurably accepted and do you agree to invest now or maybe later?

Now is a fantastic time to buy. Everything is nearly down 20%, and you know what they say, buy when there is blood in the streets. Bitcoin IMO is the safest bet, but as far as alt coins go, I think the only ones worth buying are the ones that have been around for a while and hold some merit. Litecoin, ETH, and XMR are the coins I hold. Litecoin will survive the alt-apocalypse because it serves as a testbed for Bitcoin and it is digital silver. Eth will survive because it does truly have some unique features that Bitcoin/Litecoin doesn't have. There is a large amount of developers using the Ethereum platform as well, way more than any other "smart" coin. XMR will survive because it's one of the only privacy coins that actually works, and it's been around for years already. ETH and LTC are especially a great buy right now.
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin must be regulated! on: August 14, 2018, 03:21:09 PM
Sounds like the price drop has you scared a bit! No country/governmental entity could regulate Bitcoin itself. They are trying to, but the only thing they can do is regulate how you get Bitcoin. We've seen this already through KYC and various exchanges forcing this upon the users. But sorry, Bitcoin truly could not be regulated. There is no way for an entity to "turn off" Bitcoin like they do for the stock market when the price is collapsing. Don't even worry about the price, just hodl on. We will go lower in the short-term, but long-term is still very bullish.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Eth falls on: August 14, 2018, 02:56:23 AM
Eth is now suitable for buying
Current price is $260

Talking about how art the mighty fallen. This goes to show you that in crypto anything can happen, it's filled with a lot unpredictability. But in all you do, buy the dip.

This is a huge dip, way down from the $1200 peak, thats like a 70%+ decline! Bitcoin is holding it's value way better, but I am surprised to see that Ethereum and Litecoin is down by such a large percentage today. I thought for sure these coins would hold value much better than the crap coins, guess I was wrong. Is there any reason for Ethereum being down nearly 20% today? I can't find anything online, but it looks like plain capitulation to me, clear as day.
92  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might be $5000 short term, $1000 longterm if support is broken - Sosnick on: August 14, 2018, 02:50:10 AM
yndye. It has only been barely broken, I reckon. Most of the time, we see it come back to $6000 and more after only 2 to 3 days.

Sosnick also did say that the decision on the ETF coming on September 30 might bring it up to $7000.

This drop is astounding. I, probably like everyone else here, am losing a shit ton of money right now (this helps me find solace). I hope this decline doesn't deepen all the way down to $1000, realistically I don't think it will. There is far too much buy support on the way down to $1000. If we are in full-blown capitulation, we will likely see $5500 either tomorrow or the next day. Probably even less than that. I personally am certain that we are entering capitulation. Maybe the alts are a future indicator of this because there appears to be capitulation happening there now.

The whole market is going down, down, down. The alts are dropping crazy hard right now. This puts me in a mode of cognitive dissonance, because I admit I hold a large portion of my portfolio in ETH, LTC, and XMR. I'm in cognitive dissonance because I love to see Bitcoin regain its dominance, but I hate to see the Bitcoin I'm losing from holding these alts (yes they are just a tool to earn more BTC, backfiring on me though). But as long as Bitcoin regains dominance, I'm cool with it. These crap alts deserve to die, the coins I hold are the only ones that I think could survive an alt-apocalypse. Only a matter of time before I stop screwing around and consolidate everything back into BTC.

Mark my words, capitulation is just starting... But it's not the end of the world, I still believe Bitcoin will see a $50k price point one day in the near future. HODL strong, and buy some coins while they are discounted! I think this may be some of the last blood in the market we see.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying with ETH Pair confusion on: August 13, 2018, 03:58:36 PM
You already on lose with ETH so I hope you will be careful with your next step and wish you will be helped by experienced one.

Yes thats why I wrote here. I am -600 on ETH and wanted to know if i go in xrp or zrx I will get a good pump and sell back into eth.

Realistically, there is no way of knowing what alt would be good to exchange for. You always could exchange your ETH for XRP but then ETH could pump massively and you are stuck holding a sideways moving bag of XRP. I think if you are down that much already, it's best to just Hodl ETH. ETH has fantastic developers making dApps and improving the network as a whole. It has a great roadmap, and once sharding comes out, it will be a whole different landscape. I am much more bullish on ETH than I am on these other alts. The price is already really low, I don't see it going much lower than this.
94  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $43 Billion Wiped Out of Crypto in 5 Days as Bitcoin Price Rebounds on: August 13, 2018, 03:50:08 PM
Why what happened..whats going on can't understand...how fast is alt coins downward..worried about losses too much  Huh any hope for coming days??

Don't worry about it too much, unless if you are holding garbage altcoins... Then I would be worried. Otherwise, keep hodling onto the coins that have been around for a while. Those are likely going to be the ones that last. Bitcoin is going to be the safest option by far, IMO it's a guarantee Bitcoin won't go up in smoke. These other smaller altcoins are very, very high risk of going to $0. This bear market is natural with crypto, feels exactly like the bear market of 2014/2015. Could be some time until we see a decent pump, so just keep hodling. Don't want to miss out on the pump once it does finally come  Grin
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best altcoin to yield a good return by December? on: August 13, 2018, 04:22:04 AM
I would pick something that has been around for some time and doesn't have the thread of completely disappearing soon. IMO the altcoin market is going to continue to be really bearish, for the smaller alts at least. Realistically, right now the best coin to invest in IMO is Litecoin. Low price right now, and hasn't quite caught on as silver 2.0/digital silver, which is exactly what it is. Once investors realize Bitcoin is gold 2.0 and Litecoin is silver 2.0, then we will see the real moon. Not only that, but Litecoin will be having it's halving sometime next year. By end of 2019 we should see Lite a lot higher than it is today.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steam discovered one of its game had a background mining software in it! on: August 11, 2018, 05:27:09 PM
Background mining scripts are getting smarter everyday and like viruses and malware, mining blockers too need to update frequently to counter newer scripts that attempt to use users processing power without consent to mine for them. Owners of such script should be penalized for theft.

I can easily see background mining taking place in many different places in the future. Having it happen with a game was inevitable and just the beginning. Even some websites you visit will have background mining too. I can easily see this becoming like some sort of virus. You'll need to make sure now that when you download something, even if it is from a reputable source, make sure that there are no background mining processes running. I am really surprised that steam didn't catch this in the first place.
97  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mass negative trust spammer on: August 10, 2018, 04:49:11 PM
Trust is not moderated and he is not on DT or anything. His neg paint doesn't really harm your profile. You can try to pm him and see if he will remove it but that's between you and him

Don't take the negatives from an non-DT too seriously. There are people who are nuts and they don't know what they are doing. yahoo62278 already assured you that it does not harm. It actually does not show in your profile. Look at mine - you see the red mark under my username, this counts but yours no red meaning you are clean.

Anything under the Untrusted feedback on your trust page, is not gonna count as it says,

Ah, I see, thanks guys! I missed that part on the trust screen where it says they may be totally inaccurate. Good to know!

99  Economy / Reputation / Mass negative trust spammer on: August 10, 2018, 03:58:44 AM
It appears as if the bitcointalk user "game-protect" (profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=874254 ) has gone on a negative trust tirade. He appears to have left two negative trust feedback on me for participating in the Sportsbet.io signature campaign. However, his second negative trust reads:

Quote
Promotes the publicly proven bitcasino.io scam for his own financial benefit = criminal offense!

bitcasino.io is operated without a license and in breach of AML and other laws!

When I have never participated in, or had anything to do with Bitcasino.io. It appears as if he has left both of these negative trust on everyone participating in these signature campaigns, and his reference is a link to his own website. In a way, this is like reverse signature campaign advertising. Tagging everyone with negative trust, then advertising his own website. Is there any way to get this negative trust removed? He has a bad reputation and gets to make mine bad for no reason. He doesn't even know the law, so has no right to say what he did. His account even has -64 trust which appears to be well deserved.

According to the feedback left on his account, he is a very shady individual!

All these users are accepted, the rest are all denied. Thanks for the applications guys!

Looks like there are still Sr. Member slots open, is there any reason I was denied? I met the original Merit requirements and I consider myself to be a quality poster.
Oh wow, my bad. Must have missed yours, can you re-apply here? I can't seem to find your original application. I'll accept you ASAP Smiley

Awesome, no problem man, that's great to hear! Thank you!!
