Use Twitter like you're supposed to - post an update when there is something important going on.  You don't have to do it every day, just when something happens.

For example, the rebranding as Maieuticoin - Twitter post and link to details.  The MMXIV raffle - Twitter post.  The BTC raffle - post.

Post these ONCE.  If you don't post anything for two days that's fine - it just means there's no news to report.  Don't spam them every hour, it's just annoying as hell.  Your followers all received a notification and saw the post the first time you did it.  Repeating it over and over again every hour isn't going to encourage them to read it again, it just encourages them to click the "unfollow" button.  If you were getting the same four emails from someone every hour every day you'd be pissed and unsubscribe.

Twitter is not the place to follow or message for support. The forums here and IRC are the two places to get assistance. Anything else is just a marketing tool that will be spammed to oblivion

Maybe I'll set up another one to use for updates, but @PurePoS already has tons of shit loaded into it to spam advertisements. It helped sell out the raffle in under 6 days when the last one took over 3 weeks  Wink

Those companies you mention also pay people to monitor one or two things. There are like 3 of us doing everything for Maieuticoin without much help

MMXIV Raffle #2 is now sold out! BTC Raffle is LIVE!

Raffle is sold out. Please do not send more coins

Wasn't expecting it to sell out this fast! We will do the drawing early next week, I'll figure out the best time this weekend to get the most people on at once to make sure it's a fair drawing. I have to scramble up the list and stuff still anyway. This round took less than 6 days to fully sell out! Great job everyone!

Thanks to everyone who participated! Those of you watching, but haven't joined in, yet, we have a BTC Raffle going on right now!

You can check it out here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=760702 or you can enter automatically on http://www.mmxivcoin.com/raffle.html

Oh shit. Only 2 tickets left. Didn't even realize we were this close to being sold out already! Last raffle took 10 pages in the thread and like 3 weeks to sell out. We are only on page 2 and day 6 for this raffle!

Great job everyone. Thanks for participating. I'll keep doing these, too, since it seems like interest is growing each time  Smiley

I'll take the last 2.  Done. Cool

You're a champ, thanks!

Don't have time for Twitter. I've been bugged for months to make one, so spam is what you guys get.
Great attitude. I promise you that users don't want meaningless spam. But if you think that's working for you more power to you. And for not having time for twitter you sure throw around hashtags in this forum a lot. Personally I don't use Twitter so I don't care, but if it's working so well, why do you eschew it so much?

We already have several ways to convey important issues. If people choose not to use IRC and the others we use, that's their choice
Screw the customers, right? Great attitude. Sounds like the customer service rep saying, if all of the customers would just go away I could get my job done!

I understand there are limits and you have to draw the line somewhere, but successful businesses don't view communication with their customers as a burden. If you want to insist on using a chatroom from 1980, then "that's your choice." Maybe some day you'll move it to America Online? Maybe a Myspace page?

For proper communication you need "push" notification, not "pull" notification that you insist on using. If you don't know the difference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Push_technology

For this job there's still nothing better than email subscription/newsletter. Twitter is probably a decent alternative but not everyone has Twitter. Everyone uses email.

As a parallel example, retailers like Home Depot don't rely on users to walk through their store, visit their website or participate in chat forums (like you do) to learn about sales and promotions. They use email subscriptions, direct mail, TV ads, etc. Why do you think that is?

I don't throw around hashtags at all. Bro, I've told you like 50 times #MMXIV is our IRC channel. Has nothing to do with Twitter

Each of our events has its own thread in Alt Currency forum

No longer following your @PurePOS on Twitter.  The constant bot posting is obnoxious.

Please stop, and just post REAL updates when there is actually something new to say.  Spam on Twitter is still spam.

Don't have time for Twitter. I've been bugged for months to make one, so spam is what you guys get. It's gotten us more miners, views, entries, and volume. Don't follow it if you don't like it. We already have several ways to convey important issues. If people choose not to use IRC and the others we use, that's their choice

The name of the twitter is MMXIV Promotions. It just spams all our events

Just opened up a BTC raffle too

http://mmxivcoin.com/raffle.html
The new website is cool. I realize it is new and you are probably still working on it, but... you explain Maieutics well but (just a suggestion) I'd like to see more selling points for the coin itself. You mention the specs (Pure POS, 2 minute blocks, 50% yield) but why should anyone buy or use MMXIV/Maieutic coins and what makes them valuable? And write it up for noobs, explain why POS is good and what benefit it is ("free" coin deposits, don't get into the algorhthms or mechanics of POS). Write it like you're explaining it to some old person. Explain that the coin is rare. Etc, etc. Say how you are different (and better) from the other coins.

When someone lands on your webpage for the first time, it is your chance to sell them on YOUR coin and your pool and land new users. Stop assuming everyone who visits your webpage is a crypto-nerd and will invest the appropriate time to research your coin offering further before investing time/money/resources into it because most will just move on to the next coin when this information is not openly presented.

Some feedback on the BTC raffle: A good idea overall, but I think it will draw criticism that you are collecting 2.00BTC for a 1.16BTC (or less) prize. If you can sell the tickets, fantastic, I'm all for it and I hope it is successful and I'm not suggesting you can't or shouldn't make any profit on it. Just saying what most people are probably thinking.

Yep, still working on the site. There will be more info on the pool on there soon, too. Just wanted to get the basic layout up so ThePeePs can start moving the pool over to the new design when he gets back

The BTC that is left over from the BTC raffle is going straight into buys on Bittrex  Wink

I've also proven that the contests are legitimate and the units are actually sent out. I could set the price at .01 and never send anything. At least you know that by entering a raffle run by me that you have your fair 1% chance per ticket

That's the only place to mine Maieuticoin. You can use SHA, Scrypt, x11, or x13

Expect the pool to get a facelift soon  Wink

That's right, more mining hardware! In addition to our $25,000 Mining Equipment Challenge, we are now doing a raffle to celebrate the evolution from MMXIV into Maieuticoin! For more information on the coin and direct links, please visit us on our newly redesigned website at mmxivcoin.com

It's very easy to enter. Tickets are .02 BTC per entry. Just post here or send me a message saying you want to enter and I will PM you a unique BTC address for your entries. Winner will be drawn at 100 tickets sold so each ticket is a 1% chance to win. If we don't reach 100 tickets, I'll raffle a single unit instead, or offer everyone a refund (depends what the ticket holders want to do), but since both of our raffles have sold out for M, I don't think with offering BTC as a payment option we will have to worry about not selling out

I will keep doing raffles like this all the time if there is community interest. This is our THIRD Raffle! The first two were for MMXIV only to enter. After getting a lot of PM's asking if I would accept BTC, I decided to just do a full BTC raffle instead!

You can keep track of the total entries so far on this doc:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lGog11WV_h_r2UddPSHSEPDoAMUjzYIV-HGyumpopYk

Here is some proof that my raffles are legit from the first batch!

Got my S3s today from the MMXIV raffle   Tongue

Thanks a ton MMXIV!!!

Winner is responsible for any customs or import fees
The raffle covers the cost of 2 x S3 units on Bitmaintech.com at time of drawing

Bitmain is proud to announce the sale of AntMiner S3 for 0.75 BTC each to include International shipping.  S3 is hashing at 478 GH/s while consumes 366 Watt power from the wall.

AntMiner S3 is the third generation Bitcoin mining rig made by Bitmain. It uses the state of the art BM1382 chip powered by the 28nm tech process with ultra-low power consumption, targeting the best combination of power efficiency and low capital expenditure for mining investors.

Specifications:

Hash Rate: 478 GH/s±5%

Power Consumption: 366 Watt at the wall

Power Efficiency: 0.77 J/GH on wall

Power Supply: 12V DC

Size:  331 mm x 137 mm x 160 mm

Fans: Two 14038 fans mounted on both front and back ends.

Operating Temperature: 0 °C to 35 °C

Complied with: FCC / CE

Network Connection: Ethernet

Notes:

Power consumption: This figure depends on the PSU efficiency, ambient temperature and the accuracy of the power meters.

PSU: You have to prepare your own the ATX PSU. The S3 ships without a PSU. There are 4 PCI-e connectors for +12V DC input, but it only needs to connect two of them if without overclocking (PSU not included). Don’t parallel connected different DC input from different PSU into the same Hashing board.

Features:

Stand alone: The S3 mines stand alone, needs no proxy server.

Quiet: The customized heat sinks mounted to the hash boards, one box over S3 to control the air flow, two fans mounted on both front and back ends that mean fans are able to work at lower speed to dissipate all heat easily. This design let S3 run at much lower noise level.

Stable: Running 24 hours a day with minimal downtime.

Accurate: Hardware Error got from the sample unit rate is as low as 0.01%, hundreds times better than some competing products.

Efficient: High energy efficiency to save your investment on PSU and electricity bills.

Thanks for entering!

In spirit of the coin re-branding how about a female bot.

One could go with the simple name of May, or even better Maia, the Greek fertility goddess.

Or better yet, in Roman religion Maia embodied the concept of growth.

Plus a female bot is sexy in itself.

All registered on IRC already. I did register Maieutica just in case we decide to use that

Same coin specs I presume?  Is Maieuticoin another coin swap (new blockchain) or just a re-branding?

Rebranding. Nothing has changed. You can use MMXIV 1.0.2 if you want, or download the new client. I suggest using the new client to avoid any confusion, though

Not to mention, it looks much, much nicer  Wink

I downloaded the new client . . . it looks identical, the only thing that has changed is the name of the file (Maieuticoin-Qt.exe).  Still shows MMXIV everywhere.

MMXIV is nowhere in the new client. The only mention is that we kept the MMXIV2 folder so wallets didn't have to move
