241  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar - decentralized eBay on: September 08, 2014, 01:18:58 PM
All of this talk and ppl still forget centralized service like ebay scams ppl left and right.

The escrow can be improved:
+ at any time, escrower cant hold fund over the reputation cost
+ seller cant use one escrower for over 50% of the sales.

And that's why a decentralized service is needed, though I don't think any amount of security measure is going to be 100% watertight all the time especially when you trust someone else with your money, but that's just the way it is. Disputes can always arise which can lead to more complications too,.
242  Other / Off-topic / Re: General Football Discussion - Turkish League Poll Added on: September 08, 2014, 01:16:44 PM
Turkish poll isn't really interesting I think. Only 6 votes so far...

Probably because not that many people are that familiar with Turkish teams. I can only name a couple of the big ones.
243  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice | Most Popular Bitcoin Game| 0.91% Edge| PVP | Jackpot | Faucet on: September 01, 2014, 02:47:46 PM
I just started playing a few days ago. Is downtime a frequent thing on primedice website?

PrimeDice does seem to suffer more downtime than all the other dice sites put together, but despite that it remains immensely popular.

I can't really figure out why that is. What does PrimeDice have that makes people stay so fiercely loyal to it?
Faucet?  Roll Eyes

It's obviously not just the faucet. I think Stunna being pretty active on the forums here helps and the trust he's built up goes a long way.
244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news for the Bitcoin on: September 01, 2014, 02:33:32 PM
Hmm we got a dip again? Why?

No point trying to make sense of the price. You should know that by now. And this thread wasn't really relevant anyway.
245  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: List of UK organisations who take Bitcoin on: August 15, 2014, 10:07:45 AM
I have created a directory of places in the UK accepting Bitcoins - http://www.wheretospendbitcoins.co.uk

I currently have over 200 verified retailers listed with many more waiting to be approved.

Is there a way to view all the merchants listed without just clicking on them on the map?

247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: EBay Payments Unit in Talks to Accept Bitcoin on: August 15, 2014, 10:04:48 AM
It's a subsidiary of the same company. It'lll be quite a while before ebay or PP get involved, though I;'m glad they've got their foot in the door so to speak.
248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: What happens when the blockchain size gets too big? on: August 15, 2014, 10:02:35 AM
It's a mixture of options, it wont matter because of lightweight clients and tehcnology will become bigger and cheaper so things like 1tb flash drives wont be uncommon (or something similar).

250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin deflationary? If yes..Good or Bad? on: August 10, 2014, 03:30:31 PM
Isn't bitcoin being deflationary one of it's highlights and selling points?

If it wants to be a 'real' or useful currency, being deflationary isn't such a good thing to be. The points mentioned in the initial post describe the disadvantages of deflationary currencies. It's great for people who want to see their investment appreciate in value, but not for people who want to use it in order to buy stuff!

I don't see how it can't be a real currency. Who wants one that a central bank can ruin at any moment?
251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The first country to fully adopt bitcoin will be.... on: August 03, 2014, 08:21:36 AM
It's hard to speculate on this, though I'd side with others who think it probably wont happen, or at least not for a while. I think unless the volatility was sorted out it would be a too risky experiment, though it would be interesting to see the results.

254  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what year will 21 million coins will be completed? on: August 02, 2014, 11:25:25 AM
You can find this information just by googling it and these type of questions belong in the noob forum.
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is unfair to the non tech-savvy on: July 14, 2014, 07:38:20 AM
Bitcoin isn't even that complicated to use. You don't need to know or understand all the technology behind it or how it works. It's pretty easy to use an app or blockchain.info account and I'm sure it'll only get easier.
256  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 14, 2014, 07:36:44 AM
My favourite game was the Brazil vs Germany one hehe. The thrashing Spain took by the Netherlands was great also. Holland desreved third place.
257  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] $25 Itunes Giftcard for $15 in btc on: July 14, 2014, 07:34:23 AM
These are a bit hard to sell, I just sold mine at %50. It seems no online stores want them and most brick and mortar cant cash them in. You need to find someone who will actually use it to buy it, ebay may be your best bet then just buy some BTC off of LBC the forums.

I'm not surprised. Who actually buys music off itunes?

259  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-14] Bitcoin Joint Venture to Bid for Mt. Gox Assets on: July 14, 2014, 07:26:05 AM
http://online.wsj.com/articles/bitcoin-joint-venture-to-bid-for-mt-gox-assets-1405300118?mod=WSJ_LatestHeadlines

BitOcean, a Beijing-based bitcoin ATM maker, will team up with Atlas ATS, a New York-based exchange platform provider that has worked for large Wall Street financial institutions.

The new venture—BitOcean Japan—also hopes to purchase the assets of Tokyo-based Mt. Gox, which stopped operating in February and filed for protection from creditors under Japan's bankruptcy code.

What assets?  The 3D printer and pimped out Honda Civic?

Haha, I was just about to ask the same thing. Maybe they have a few PCs and blueballs left lying around.
260  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-14] Buying car with bitcoin. on: July 14, 2014, 07:24:58 AM
Never heard of the company but it sounds like a great idea/service. Really nice to see companies jumping on the bitwagon daily. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we get one or two massive names onboard.
