2461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin donations no longer welcome on Wikipedia on: April 15, 2022, 05:07:45 PM
You see, this is the problem, and the example of Wikipedia is a good one.

Everyone comments here and there that it's "wonderful" and a big step when a company accepts Bitcoin. It's all well and good, but the reality is nobody uses it. In terms of return on investment, why would a company bother adding an option if nobody uses it?

So it may be great to start by admitting that most people are only interested in crypto for speculation. And a lot of you here too.
That's not the purpose of a cryptocurrency at all. Everything else (technology, decentralization, privacy) people don't care about at all. By the way, Cryptocurrency investors are psychopaths, study finds Cheesy

If you think Amazon for example will start to add BTC as a payment option I can tell you the Apocalypse will be faster to come. There are very few places where people actually use it, such as i.e. Venezuela with its inflation, the Iranian government, or other countries seeking to evade economic sanctions...If we remove the reasons for politics, geopolitics, and economics, what is left? Almost nothing.

According to the 2021 financial year, the donations in bitcoins represented a value of only 0.08% of the foundation's revenues

the community has been voting on the issue since January 2022 https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requests_for_comment/Stop_accepting_cryptocurrency_donations#Voting
Over 70% voted to stop accepting cryptocurrencies for the donations (unsigned contributions and new accounts were not taken into account to avoid attempts to manipulate votes)

And as donations have been possible since 2014 or 2015, I think people have had enough time to do something. It's a bit sad for Wikipedia, personally, it's one of my favorite sites where I can spend hours on it

I think you raise some very good points and I'm not sure the crypto market will ever be big enough to support what the relative minority here are looking to get. Until Bitcoin can become instant, rather than relying on multiple confirmations, there will always be a faster payment network out there and in the age of instant gratification that will be unbeatable. Maybe exchange wallets will allow that sort of functionality, but again that defeats the point of having a separate decentralized network. Energy usage is also an ongoing concern in a world where oil is funding warmongers, so anything that is inefficient will naturally have to be left behind and that is the very basis for solving the puzzles to unlock new Bitcoin.
2462  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which would be better ? on: April 15, 2022, 09:33:48 AM
I've seen both but sports seem a lot easier to me and casinos are hard for me.
  • What do I need to know to play casino?
  • Which is a more profitable casino or sports game?
  • And Which Platform should take as a newbie gambler, casino or sports?

If you just want to play for fun then casinos are a valid choice, however you'd be better off with a physical casino where you can soak up the atmosphere and maybe get free drinks while playing. Just be aware that you're likely to lose every bit of money that you allocate to spend there - they didn't build all the beautiful big buildings in a place like Vegas from winners. Virtual casinos are a slightly boring experience, once you think beyond all the cartoony graphics, side game distractions and music meant to entice you in. There's probably more money to be made in sports betting, but the bookmakers are very good at their job so you have to be eagle eyed and very good with your picking to win.
2463  Economy / Economics / Re: Rising inflation forces investors to look for defensive assets. on: April 15, 2022, 09:08:52 AM
What can crypto offer them?

As almost everyone around us is talking about inflation both on news, social media and on the internet and with so rising inflation hitting investors has been a topic for discuss.
Literally, some assets has been going down in value including fiat and cryptocurrency due to inflation and other issues around the world.
So it's a little difficult to recommend crypto for invertors to hedge their funds since all almost every crypto asset is going down in value too. But I still believe that investment in digital asset (cryptocurrency) like Bitcoin is indeed the best and secured place currently for investors to look forward for defense and to hedge their funds.

Hedging funds into crypto will be a very good option for them because when we have enabling ground for market recovery after this geopolitical distractions, history has shown that Bitcoin (cryptocurrency) has proven to be one of the best performing asset when it comes to return on investment (ROI) for over the past few years for investors when compared to other asset. This is thus, making it a safe heaven for investors to hedge their funds right now. Therefore investors are seeing it as digital Gold and it almost taking the role of Gold.

It feels like we're currently floating along in the region between bliss after coming out of covid - where many people were able to make savings and a quick recovery after the war in Ukraine started, but it still feels like the biggest war in Europe for over 60 years has barely had any effect. We're back at pre-pandemic levels after a sharp dip back at the end of February, it feels a bit surreal but with inflation and a whole bunch of other factors, the stock market should be heading down rather than up. There is still a huge bubble of excess money in stocks and property that is still inflating, but that might start to change in the coming months for Europe and the USA.
2464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quick Survey: why do you specifically use crypto to gambooool ? on: April 14, 2022, 08:36:06 PM
The reason is that I can play gambling without anyone knowing and I don't have to use my bank to deposit the money. I can use a wallet in the market or any other personal wallet without filling in the required forms if we use a bank as a source of funds for gambling. The deposit process is also relatively faster than depositing through a bank. But there is a possibility that later gambling sites will also require verification from every gambler, even though they use crypto to gamble.
You could really able to differentiate their main features compared to a fiat casino.In crypto you wont;

1. Need to link your bank or credit card
2. No KYC
3. No hassle on making deposits/withdrawals
4. Wide variety of games

You could really have your own reason but most likely we crypto gamblers are just having the same.

One of the things that appealed to me the most when first starting crypto gambling was the novelty factor, there is something about a "new type" of gambling where people had to convert fiat currency into what was effectively a token which broke down a lot of inhibition. In the early days it was a lot easier to find fish or people who were very loose with their special coins, who might not have been correctly perceiving the monetary value behind them. This allowed a skilled player who was able to compete against others was able to pick up some nice change. A big bonus is also the lack of KYC, which was less required in the past and allowed a bit more flexibility.
2465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if she receives Bitcoin as gift on: April 14, 2022, 08:28:52 PM
The world is revolving really faster and everything is becoming digital everytime I open my eyes. The way we do things last 5 to 10 years is becoming completely different to this recent time. We are in the era of digital currency where Bitcoin is having a great influence on our lives.

I have a sister and a female friend that will be celebrating their birthday soon and I'm thinking of getting them something unimaginable. Since their is not as much adoption of Bitcoin from women, I thought of giving my sister and a friend Bitcoin as birthday gifts. Although i know it might sounds odd or uncommon to us but I think this will help them a lot and the awareness of Bitcoin because they will end up telling their friends and the friends telling more friends.

All women want to be loved more on their birthdays receiving precious gifts from love ones. Bitcoin is more precious to me than mere gifts that will end up not appreciating in values. How are you going to feel if you receive something that could improve yyour financial life as a birthday? Holding this asset(Bitcoin) for few year from now can become a game changer for her when other gifts might have lost value.

Why I choose Bitcoin over other gifts

- Bitcoin can appreciate more in value with time.
- It is secure and private.
- It is fast and easy to transact.
- Can be a great asset that can change her financial status.

How I planned to do it

- I will educate them on what Bitcoin, Blockchain, wallet and other necessary things.
- Guide on how to create a crypto wallet by themselves.
- Get their Bitcoin wallet addresses.
- Send them affordable Bitcoin on their birthday.
- Contineous briefing on safety, and what cryptocurrency is all about.

I am looking forward to better ways to do this.
 Thanks!

Some people might know, but others may not, women often have much lower savings than men so I am sure the recipients of your gift will be most generous. That being said, it's slightly patronizing to assume that women may have less knowledge than men in the age of the internet. It's all very well being ready to explain how it works to newcomers, but that goes for men and women equally.  The weird thing is, there are already very fast payment networks out there which people use every day - like Paypal and Visa cards, which Bitcoin actually cannot beat for speed at minimal cost. I'd suggest people continue to push it's biggest benefits which is moving large amounts across borders while being able to minimize middlemen conversion fees, which is useful to wide swathes of the worlds population.
2466  Economy / Gambling / Re: Watching Our Kids From Something That Could Dangerous To Them on: April 14, 2022, 08:16:27 PM

....What do you think about the situation above? Do you have any such situations like me before?

All parents experience this, we are living in an extraordinary time, very much different from what we've had in our youth, children nowadays are technology-driven and have a big drive for something new online.
They will eventually find these games that need money for upgrades that will eventually lead them to gamble and that is where we should keep an eye, parents need to keep their eye on what their children are doing online they have should full control over their child's behavior.

I think that parents are often caught in the same technology trap these days and some may find it hard to find a balance. It was easier 30 years ago when there were no smart phones with access to all sorts of instant distractions available. Even from an early age it is far too easy to download gaming apps to serve as a distraction to babies, toddlers and children which can be a simple way out if they're acting particularly unruly. There is no easy answer to this question and it does really come down to how well prepared the parents are to steer a new life through this increasingly hectic world. Trying to reduce technology usage (at least in terms of smart phones or tablets) is a very good thing in the early years because kids should be outside, exploring, playing games in the real world and getting exercise as much as possible.
2467  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia wants to build a new world order with China on: April 14, 2022, 07:45:46 PM
A new economic system is coming to the world and that system will not be dominated by the West. Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev (former Russian president) said in an interview with Russian media yesterday.

Quote
Medvedev said: "Hellish sanctions imposed on Russia by the United States, the EU, and their allies in the Ukraine conflict have failed to cripple Russia. Now, these sanctions are coming back to the West.

"As the West continues its futile efforts to corner Russia, the world is slowly moving towards a new global economic relationship. We are moving towards improving the financial system ', he added.

"Confidence in the reserve currency is fading like a morning mist and the prospect of the dollar and the euro leaving does not seem unrealistic now," Medvedev said.

High inflation rates weaken USD dominance for sure but are it really possible to replace USD as a reserve currency or the USA will allow that so easily? The era of regional currency is coming?

The thing with heavily centralized organizations is the can often appear strong, they may even be strong, during times of relative peace and prosperity. However they are often very inflexible societies built around certain hierarchies which often result in nepotism. There is less and less opportunity for the brightest people to move up the ranks, as they are sullied by corruption and bureaucracy that lays around the bottom level. Many people are afraid to speak out, which can stifle sensible ideas which advance the world, they just sit in the grind. However free societies are often much more dynamic and able to solve problems because people are less afraid of speaking the truth.
2468  Economy / Gambling / Re: Profits from gambling with crypto (UK tax question) on: April 14, 2022, 07:42:15 PM
Hi,

In the tax year just gone I have made around £40,000 via gambling on crypto betting websites. £30,000 of this I have converted into GBP and withdrawn from my crypto wallet to my bank account.

Two questions:

1) Do I need to pay any CGT on this (my profits from the general appreciation of crypto is minimal - less than £500)

2) If I don’t need to pay tax due it being gambling winnings rather than crypto profit, how do I prove this. A lot of my betting accounts have been closed (and therefore I cannot login to them) thus making it hard for me to prove to HMRC that my transactions have come from gambling winnings.

Thanks

While it may seem like a relatively low amount and it seems like you've done well, it'd be worth seeking independent financial advice from a regulated accountant I have no doubt that there are some sufficiently qualified people among the users of this forum, but even they might not be able to interpret the best way to complete your tax arrangements with such a limited amount of information to work on. Pay £500 and find somebody who is certified, they might even be able to save you much more money by giving you tips for the future or arranging your payments in a certain - totally legal - way. Taking advice from random strangers on a message board is a bad idea when it comes to a lot of money and potential jail for tax evasion time at the very worst case scenario.
2469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now we know:we (BTC/etc guys) are Machiavellian psychopaths with an inflated ego on: April 13, 2022, 08:35:10 PM
Here are some recent media headlines on this matter:

I must admit that I felt identified with the above I took the headlines above for granted at first, as being the conclusions of the survey they reference. After all, if many such headlines echo the same, it must be right …

Not really …

A survey carried out by the Queensland University of Technology, based on a sample of 566 participants has led to the above headlines. However, headlines lacked to pick up on, in my opinion, one vital piece of information that is the key to interpreting the survey properly:
Quote
Studying cryptocurrency through the psychological lens of the dark tetrad offers insight into why people want to buy crypto. We are not suggesting that everyone interested in crypto displays dark tetrad traits.

"We studied only a subset of people interested in crypto who do have these traits. If you happen to be a Bitcoin or other crypto holder, you may or may not exhibit them."
(these are the guys that conducted the survey)
See: https://theconversation.com/impulsive-psychopaths-like-crypto-research-shows-how-dark-personality-traits-affect-bitcoin-enthusiasm-180782

The above indicates, if I’m interpreting it correctly, that the focus group of the study were people who had the dark tetrad personality traits (Machiavellianism, narcissism, psychopathy and sadism) per se. They studied this group and their relations to crypto, and derived their conclusions connecting personality traits to attitudes and believes, and later to crypto.

That is to say, the study sort of concluded that A (dark tetrad personality traits) ->B (attitude towards crypto), whilst many (not all) headlines are stating that B->A, which is not the same nor correct ...

I think this ties into the "pump and dump" mentality that a small group of individuals push in the cryptocurrency space. If you make Bitcoin, or anything, into your religion then you start to condition your brain to look for only signals that reinforce your existing beliefs. Someone who is really interested in mastering financial well being will seek out a rounded view and diversify among many assets, sticking with a heavy weighting towards to those with the longest history (gold/bonds/shares). There is definitely a certain gambling mentality and unpredictability associated with these currencies that maybe chimes within someone who is unstable - like those with psychopathic tendencies.
2470  Economy / Gambling / Re: Watching Our Kids From Something That Could Dangerous To Them on: April 13, 2022, 07:51:05 PM
Some time ago I visited my friend's house. We talked about many things because we had not seen each other for a long time. Besides us telling stories, he accompanied his son, who was already a teenager. His son is playing games on his cell phone and I got a glimpse of what games he played and he seems to be playing games he shouldn't be playing.

Then I asked my best friend how she watched her grown children. He replied that his children were able to choose what was good and bad for them and he just needed to say that playing games are okay as long as he doesn't lose track of time.

Then I asked again if the kids installed games they weren't supposed to play (but I didn't say the kids were playing those games). She replied that she sometimes checks her children's cell phones and asks what they are playing and that a parent should ask their child.

From here, I then asked myself, is that what we should do for our children, giving them the freedom to install whatever they want. Then there is another thing that sticks in my mind: if they want to buy something in the game because this type of game allows players to get rare items at low prices. They can ask for the money from their parents to buy that item.

Then, I also thought if this could cause symptoms of addiction to continue playing the game and later it could be accidentally, they see adult content such as pornography or gambling or others easily. The role of parents who give freedom to their children in using cellphones does not seem to be felt by those who are starting to grow up. I see that a teenager has started to be equipped with a smartphone.

What do you think about the situation above? Do you have any such situations like me before?

Unfortunately since the advent of the internet it has spawned many good and also many bad things in life. It gives people a huge blessing in terms of almost infinite knowledge that is transferable via a device even as small as a phone or watch. Yet it also allows companies in "dangerous" industries such as alcohol/tobacco/gambling to have a much larger reach and be able to more covertly advertise to audiences in a way that it can be hard for regulators to catch. Young and developing minds are extremely impressionable, even 21 year olds can still be immature in many respects, so they are much more influenced in the age of instant gratification. It can even start at a stage beyond gambling, with things like micro transactions and loot boxes creating trigger points in the brain which can fuel later traits around addiction. It's an extremely difficult balance to find, but parents play a large responsibility and they often do not step up to the mark, or don't have the technology know how to do so effectively.
2471  Economy / Economics / Re: online skills in the face of war on: April 13, 2022, 07:19:36 PM
I was thinking within me and my thoughts was if  everyone needs to get a digital skill in-spite of their profession or discipline. looking at it from the angle of declining economies where political, societal, ethnic, cultural, religious, territorial and economic war is hitting the apex as well as currency devaluation. Following this high level of declining economy is it best to get a digital skill either as a full time business or a complementary pay check.

Salaries and wages this days aren't sufficient any longer to handle daily bills, most salary earners still live below their salaries which keeps them in perpetual debt. Now in this era the best place to meet a vast crowd of clients is on an online platform and this way more services can be rendered within lesser time with more patronage. So i began my thoughts is digital skill the alternative

If we try to analyze this critically we might say this insufficiency in pay checks is one of the factors that is triggering greed, selfish and money conscious services around organizations. I was thinking If many get an side paying job with digital skill that can help handle bills it might be a gateway to reducing the self centered services we receive

Are you thinking what i am thinking or you have a different view

Sadly in this war of aggression by Russia against Ukraine, the whole world is losing. Just after getting over the disaster that was two years of the worst global pandemic in living memory, we are now faced with the worst European war since the second world war - for the sake of one mans vanity. The internet offers huge possibilities for most of the world, sadly places like Russia and China are going the route of censoring their own people, trying to build internal networks rather than embrace the sharing of global ideas. For the rest of us the possibilities are almost endless and new ways to produce useful connections are coming out every day. You can learn to be a programmer, a designer, perform many services, plug into the part time jobs market or so many other things.
2472  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Onehash.com scam report... on: April 13, 2022, 06:57:05 PM
Just a note to everyone thinking about using onehash this was my experience with them.
So firstly I deposited my own btc into their wallet to play, then after I started winning I wanted to withdraw my btc. Then they said that I have to confirm my withdrawal from my email I used, this is the first time I have seen a crypto game requiring you to confirm a withdrawal via your email address and unfortunately I lost access to the email I used to sign up by them. I then requested for them to assist me with changing my email address and the support took several days to respond to me only for me to receive a message a day and a half at a time. I got a response it was a new person from their customer support each time. Thus causing it to become impossible to sort out my change of email, as I got upset I decided to ask them to cancel my account and in doing so according to their own policies they are meant to send you your btc balance within 3days to the btc wallet you deposited with which also caused a problem of its own, I then informed them that I deposited my btc using kucoin and that I can't receive the btc back into the wallet that I used to deposit my btc as it is a one way only wallet if you use kucoin you will understand what I am talking about. Then it took them 3 days to respond with regards to this issue and they deferred my problem that I had. I then waited my 3 days and on the final day (the day my account is meant to be closed) my btc just disappeared. After it disappeared they then sent me a message if I need any assistance which meant it was now another new customer service consultant which upset me further because the time in which my btc disappeared i was not on the website and I did not use the account for another 2days after the day I was meant to get my btc. And now their excuses are they cannot send me my btc as my balance is too low yet I know I waited for my btc and did not play the game further because I wanted my btc, yet it just disappeared and now they are not taking responsibility and are just deferring my questioning about how my btc just disappeared and they saying they cannot send me btc as my balance is too low. I even have proof of balance on the day I was meant to get my btc and thereafter the balance just disappeared.
So if you are ever thinking of playing on onehash be prepared for them firstly ripping you off and secondly not receiving any support even though they say its 24/7 yet they only responded in the evenings between 7pm to 10pm.
Complete utter scam from my own experience. Better off using other services that offers on chain gambling inside your own wallet. Not your wallet not your coins and you have no recourse. Utter scam.

Out of the dozens of casinos here with lots of activity and strong reviews, you decided to go with an absolutely unheard of site? I have a feeling you only found bitcointalk after the money had already been lost - it might be rubbing salt in the wound, but people simply do not do enough research beforehand and are lured into whatever site promises the best bonuses, I've been guilty of it myself. Thanks for the warning, but I guess most people here have such a wide range of recommendations to go with already they are unlikely to stumble into these scam artists. You may simply have to write this off as a loss instead of devoting any more time to chasing your money, let's hope it was a relatively small amount.
2473  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which sport interests you!!! on: April 12, 2022, 07:31:02 PM
I was playing Handball in primary school and it is the first place for me among the games I have played with pleasure.

I opened this topic to give detailed information about this beautiful sport that is so enjoyable but that people are not aware of.

It is very important for the development and physiological development of children, with a play style blended from many sports branches. Basketball, Volleyball, Long Jump etc. Techniques in sports are used in combination in this branch of sports.

Interesting recap, unfortunately it's very hard for new sports to break into the big league when there are already strongly established leagues that have generations of fans and huge infrastructure behind them. However if you enjoy the sport then keeping it small and local can be just as fun. I've gotten into "bouldering" or climbing without ropes at a low level, it takes a huge amount of strength and coordination to master some of the really difficult routes that can be laid out, but it's also an affordable hobby that even a solo enthusiast can pick up if you've got a decent facility nearby. It is a solid workout and you can really push your limits in each new session if there is enough variety in the difficulty levels.
2474  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New York imposes a permit for Crypto companies on: April 12, 2022, 07:11:50 PM
Both New York and the rest of the United States constantly involve cryptocurrencies in a regulatory framework in order to maintain control and benefit this territory as a whole, they have already imposed several regulations for the use of these digital currencies and now in the New York city the department of financial services aims for all cryptographic companies to have the BitLicense permit so that they can operate legally, with this the NYDFS will be able to work the same as with traditional financial institutions.

In addition, the department states that:

Quote
The expenses of each examination of the affairs of any person regulated under this chapter who engages in virtual currency business shall be borne and paid by the regulated person so examined.

There are those who oppose these restrictions, since they demand certain requirements, affecting their performance in the industry for not being able to register in the state. I believe that these measures will greatly benefit the country, generating more income, however many Crypto companies may be harmed.

Taking into account the new conditions of the State of New York, could some important crypto companies be left out?

It is sort of inevitable that this would happen, first they welcome in lots of crypto focused companies with seemingly lax laws and inviting politicians, then they do a little snapback. Not that you should feel particularly aggrieved by this because it is unlikely to affect the majority of people and it purely targeted at the large scale companies that moved in. These companies, let's use exchanges as an example, are making absolutely huge profits from the fees they charge and they get the "prestige" of using a New York address for their company, which can give them increased credibility. The people affected by this are already doing very well, so such fees will likely only amount to a tiny fraction of their profits any way.
2475  Economy / Gambling / Re: Another New Rule On Gambling Adverts Ban Celebrities and Sports Stars on: April 12, 2022, 06:51:14 PM
What impact will be received by gambling companies, both fiat and crypto, because we know that gambling companies use celebrities to boost the popularity of these gambling sites?

In terms of promotion, the gambling company may change its strategy in using these celebrities or use an age limit for those allowed to see these advertisements.

But from another perspective, it doesn't seem easy to do because children under 18 years old may already know how to see the ad. But indeed, the problem of gambling addiction is a very serious problem that needs everyone's attention. They can play gambling but with strict terms and conditions.

What they need to do is make effective punishments to deter rulebreakers and this is often overlooked throughout the whole process. In the world of corporatism we far to often see fines factored into the cost of doing business which is completely against the spirit of what they're intended to do. If you start by using percentage of turnover as a calculation of fines instead of fixed amounts and combine it with incremental multipliers if they are caught more than once, it'll stop being worth their while to break such laws. Politicians are starting to wise up to this but those same politicians can also be offered lucrative "consulting" jobs if they nudge laws in a way that pleases such money making giants. I walked past an advert for a Heineken beer the other day and had to double check, because it looked like a Fortnite advert, absolutely disgraceful targeting of children.
2476  Economy / Economics / Re: Sri Lanka defaults on its $51 billion external debt on: April 12, 2022, 06:44:57 PM
First Lebanon now Srilanka declared themself bankruptcy. After the covid-19 break out some countries(especially those whose source of income was from tourism) face severe consequences. Another source of income was exporting quality tea which was also reduced significantly. Srilankan tea brand is infamous in the world. Besides that, some bad decisions from the govt like forbidding tp importation of fertilizer to produce organic foods create food shortages in the country. Mostly covid and govt is to blame for this current situation in Sri Lanka.

Note: Neputism is very common in srilanka and most of the important ministry is occupied by brother and relatives of current PM.

It is a shame that the world is ruled by a rich elite class who consolidate power and play citizens against each other. It is incredibly easy for democracy to be undermined and looted for the benefit of the few - instead of them allowing many people to live comfortably, some hoard enough wealth to live a thousand lifetimes in extravagance. As you said, often instead of deserving it through hard work or intelligence, it is simply because you were born into a specific family. We put a lot of trust into politicians at the top and have to be on guard constantly, they only have to make a few tweaks in the right conditions before independent institutions which can take them down are gone. It's a sad state of affairs, hopefully Sri Lanka can rid themselves of the scourge of nepotism.
2477  Economy / Gambling / Re: Online casino. What's the reliability of the technology? on: April 11, 2022, 08:25:21 PM
To what extent is the online  slot game machine RTP reliable based on it's technology?

As words in the street has it that it has gained so much popularity than other casino games due to it's simplicity nature.

Let's discuss, what's your view.

Reliability? It is exceptional. When it comes to making mass amounts of money - like online casinos do, you can bet your ass that a lot more effort is putting into engineering and calculating the odds as accurately as possible. That being said, standalone slot machine units will be pretty rugged and heavily tested as well, because they might be disconnected from the internet which means updates could be impossible at a later date, with any exploits creating great reputation damage to the provider. The hardest thing about creating these, as you say super simple games, is probably the random number generation mechanism behind them. As it is incredibly hard to create truly random numbers, effort likely gets put into this the most so the house can accurately gauge it's edge advantage.

Quite surprised to see consecutive high roller of above 20BTC on a single wager. Have any of you come across such big wagers in real-time. Came across this while spending time watching the high rollers on the bets tab. Have anyone came across such big bets, and I don't whether this player have managed to make a win or not. Shocked

I've seen many crazy stories out there where people are so swimming in money that they take such risks and will rarely give it a second thought, however it is extremely wasteful and selfish. That's enough money to support several hundred people for their whole lifetime in some poorer countries, just frittered away. I suspect some of these players likely bought Bitcoin a long time ago, or may have even hacked those funds and are trying to clean the money by cycling it through a casino. Alternatively it could be a glitch in the site or maybe even a ploy to draw in unsuspecting players who hope to be on the receiving end of some payouts after the casino made such a big score.

So what is this ? Coinbase ? And btw who even use coinbase ? If we have binance i dont even see why coinbase ? If binance falls im out of crypto and btc
So it goes to btc and crypto simple.

It definitely falls in line with the more authoritarian and less democratic style of government that currently exists in India. It seems that the politicians in power there are showing that they would rather rule by decree instead of by census, especially when they're choosing to ally with somebody like Russia in return for cheap oil. It's been known that prohibition has failed countless times through the centuries, just look back at when they tried to ban alcohol in America and the war on drugs that has done nothing for the last two decades except fuel many murders. This is very similar, because crypto is so decentralized it's like trying to stop breathing or the human need for water, it's better to accept the reality and put effort into regulating it. Bans are the tools of weak politicians.

It seems to me this was a small step towards banning gambling adverts in the biggest sports in the UK, I saw an article recently that suggested something like 60%+ of Premier League clubs have a crypto casino partner and they will be contributing huge amounts towards these clubs. This new law gives them a little bit of a warning and that the government might take firmer action at a higher level soon. If you think that alcohol and smoking related products are banned from advertising in this sector, it seems inevitable that gambling sites will eventually be banned too. It's more surprising that it has taken so long for action but then again, these companies pour in such big amounts it'll be a big financial upset - I'm not sure the public will care too much if these overpaid players have to take a smaller salary.
