1641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Types Of Online Casinos To Avoid.. on: December 04, 2022, 07:25:14 PM

Online Casinos Without Online Presence/Community

From my observations, I think online casinos without online presence or community of users are likely to scam any user and get away with it easily, and it doesn't matter if they have a high trust rating, this is because when they refuse to process your withdrawal and the customer support is not responding or not helping, the user in reality have no place to complain that will force the casino to pay him of lose a great number of their users if not all...

Like for example, if a casino have a community on bitcointalk, and you are a user of that casino, at any time you have an issue with that casino and the customer support is not helping, bringing such issue to their community on bitcointalk will force the casino to find solution(s) immediately so that they don't lose their other customers in the case where they are the ones at fault..

But a casino without any kind of community anyway, if as a user, you encounter any problems and the customer refuse to help you, you are absolutely helpless, and complaining on forums where the casino is not even known won't help because it does not affect the casino on their business, they probably won't see your complaints, neither would their other customers do, so certainly, they won't answer and their other customers also don't know what is going on.. So it is best to avoid such casinos in my best opinion..

This is just one out of many types of online casinos to avoid, so let's make the discussion long, what other types of online casinos do you think gamblers should avoid? You never can tell, your advice might help someone in a short of long way.

There are a few different techniques that casinos and sportbooks can use which are pretty poor practice from the customer aspect. Sometimes you'll find that customers can deposit very easily, without submitting things like KYC documentation to "activate" the account but when you want to withdraw they ask for such things, have hidden transaction fees or take excessive amounts of time to process a withdrawal. All of these can be incredibly frustrating for a customer but only become apparent after the customer has won (sometimes big). It's good to take a blend of reviews from different sources but also with some skeptisism, because if you just look at reviews from places outside of Bitcointalk you can often only find people who have lost money and naturally want to attack the site even if it was all legitimate.
1642  Economy / Economics / Re: Share Your Best Money Advice Based on Personal Experience on: December 04, 2022, 06:43:10 PM
For the longest time, I have been thinking about doing this. It seems like the right time is now. All of us have had good, bad, and ugly experiences with money. So now is a good time to offer your two cents worth of financial advice.

Ty question-  Based on your cumulative life experiences, can you share your best money advice with us?

I'd go first -  Stay out of debt as much as you can.

One piece of advice is - start buying stocks for the long term dividend income instead of short term day trading. There is so much to learn in the area of business and analyzing how they run that you will never run out of new thoughts. You might start by finding the earliest Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meetings hosted on youtube and just listen along to them describing how their business works, along with how it developed over time year by year. If you truly want to be free and independent you need to learn how to get your money making more money over time, owning shares in companies is the way all the richest people in the world sustain their wealth and get richer every single day.
1643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I Am So Done With Betting Until.... on: December 04, 2022, 06:26:43 PM
I think I am one of the unluckiest gambler/bettor out here, today is one of my worst days again and I think I should quit betting.

I went all in on Argentina thinking their match against Saudi Arabia would be an easy win for them, and the fact that the odds were so far away against Saudi Arabia winning while it was in huge favor of Argentina caused me to be so sure that Argentina was going to win the match, and then, I went all in, hoping to make some big wins just like yesterday, but now, everything is gone, in just a twinkle of an eye...
Argentina is a big disappointment, It's still hard to believe, I quit betting until I am able to forget this experience entirely.

"Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" as the saying goes. You should embrace the fact that you lost and keep that memory with you, not try to suppress it out of pain. It is a very valuable lesson that even supposedly "sure fire" wins are susceptible to loss and you should keep your betting in check because it is being driven by pure greed otherwise. I doubt it was even going to be that profitable for you, but maybe you bulked up your bet for that reason, what were the odds - like 1.3 for Argentina to win? Traditionally Argentina (in the top five of World Cup teams overall) have been a much stronger team than Saudi, so if you repeated this game a hundred times then maybe 80%+ of the time they would probably win it.
1644  Economy / Economics / Re: MONEY IS THE MOTIVATING FACTOR, what do you think? on: December 04, 2022, 06:17:29 PM
Money is a good follower, but is a poor leader.

Money will always lead you astray, but it will follow you well.

Any man that seeks to follow money becomes misled.
Money is meant to follow you, while you are meant to follow value.  Create value, solve problems, and do it well, you'll attract people to follow you; remember, money follows people with value.

What's your take on this?

Ultimate the capitalist system has been proven as the most effective in the history of trading systems, even though it is far from perfect and it needs a lot of regulation to protect the masses. There is a very fine line between capitalism and corporatism (or corporate capture) which politicians should always be keeping a strong eye and forceful hand on. Businesses should always be there to serve the needs of the mass population in every country, not just offering employment, but using responsible practices and contributing it's fair share to upkeep of vital infrastructure like road networks. However in such an environment a ruthless business person might be inclined to undermine such forceful oversight in the form of lobbying, which should be restricted where possible as it can often touch on areas like bribery.
1645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why Must it be the last game? on: December 04, 2022, 06:14:07 PM
Hello fams

just as the title says why must it be the last game to always cut off the winning?
Have been playing sport bet and especially pools, whenever i predicts some matches upto 5, 8, 10 and maximum is 15, while pools is focused on draws maybe i might just select 3 draws or 6 draws it will always happened the last 1 or 2 games to cut off the match, while a maximum of 15 matches the last number 15 is always terminating all my entries.
Is there any way to do away with the last match that always cut the prediction and some you would be given a chances of cashing out but the last always ends the game not to be able to cashout.

Could you explain this please if there's any way we can do away with it lets begin the adjustments.

In simple terms, the human mind is terrible at calculating odds and trying to factor in everything - that's why sportbooks use massive amounts of computing power doing statistical analysis based on historical records and patterns. That itself gives them a huge edge over the average player because they also build in a buffer to account for when they are wrong too. The next part is key however: Multi-bets or parlays are what make sportbooks the most money out of any type of bet, because if you amplify that aforementioned inability to properly calculate odds over two, three more more connected bets then the chances of the player losing goes up exponentially.
1646  Economy / Economics / Re: SBF-Denies Improper use of Customer Funds in a 1 on 1 Interview on: December 03, 2022, 05:29:22 PM
ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos had a 1 on 1 interview with Sam Bankman-Fried.   In this 10+ minute long video, the anchor asks SBF if he new about the FTX deposit are being used to pay off Alameda creditors.  It took a while for SBF to answer and deny that he knew about the improper use of customer fund.

Here is the original video from ABC news : https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/News/video/ftx-founder-sam-bankman-fried-denies-improper-customer-94268098

Here is the Time Stamped Commentary video[1] done by The Altcoin Daily channel

In this interview it is obvious that SBF is hiding the truth.  Another note taking is that he admit that he did not take his position seriously that leads to FTX bankruptcy.

Anything he is saying right now is simply an effort to try and stave off any criminal actions against him, which are likely going to evolve at some point. "Dumb like a fox"? Is a strange expression, as they are usually animals described as sly or intelligent. You have to discount anything he says really, because he is the person ultimately responsible and the way he treated the company was downright criminally irresponsible. He was responsible for a lack of customer funds separation and part of the problem was the side business that was manipulating trades that actually benefited his personal wealth. It feels like the administrator is about to uncover a heck of a lot of bad business practice that has landed FTX where it ended up.
1647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What would be an ideal KYC solution? on: December 03, 2022, 09:14:23 AM
Hey guys,

With all the KYC talk lately I wanted to open up a thread and ask about your opinion.

The side of the user:
- Prefers no KYC
- Prefers anon coins as a payment platform
- If a KYC is triggered, they want to trust the brand with their documents

The side of the casino:
- Regulators are asking them to do KYC, but they need to find a balance on when it's triggered. E.g. to keep a portion of the user happy, they can rise the trigger to a certain amount.
- They are tied to a payment provider, either because of the license or CMS, and can offer only a certain portion of cryptocurrency.
- Users are abusing them if there's absolutely no KYC matrix in the system.

What would, in your opinion, be the best balance here?

Efialtis from BTCGosu mentioned that some of the casino managers make exceptions, and I can imagine how that's possible, but I'm curious in what you would like to see there.

Regarding KYC: Their management confirmed with me personally that they would not enforce KYC. (Same old story, we could of course argue about that just like with any curacao licensed crypto casino) - the good news is when I have personal confirmation of such a statement, then I am putting a "No" and if they break their word at any point of time, I would take action. That is how I have always been handling this topic and how I will continue doing it.

Perhaps it would be good to have a single, super secure platform and potentially using some sort of Blockchain/nft solution to store documents - that could be used to validate whether someone has genuine documents. Maybe where different sources could give ratings, maybe whether certain ratings might hold extra weight (document was verified in-person). But to keep the anonymity side it would have to be somehow decentralised or in a jurisdiction that would not force documents to be disclosed.
1648  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Japan fall behind in the crypto industry ? on: December 03, 2022, 09:10:12 AM
As one of the world's leading economies with countless cutting edge technologies, Japan has maintained its high-profile status for many decades. Even in this World Cup, Japan has defeated Germany and Spain, striving to the next level of competition. It seems that Japan does not need to prove to be a great nation to the world. However, in the crypto industry, we barely heard anything great from Japan, no leading blockchain ecosystem or any cryptocurrency exchange alike. Why ? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Japan is often an outlier when it comes to trialling things that the rest of the world has used for a long time or something even holding on to certain tech for too long (fax machines). However it's sometimes not a bad thing to have this insular and quirky behavior, because it can shield you if others having jumped on a leaky ship - metaphorically speaking. They also live in a very segregated society and have a very structured business mentality which plays a role.
1649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: under-age gamblers on: December 02, 2022, 11:19:06 PM
under-age gambling.any side effects?
Firstly gambling is a habit that becomes an addiction when not properly control and its really gonna eat you up likewise making you restless and not always focused on things you should do.

The  rate at which i see young minds and teens involved in the act of gambling in my area is really alarming and because of the poor regulatory bodies controlling the laws in my area they can't really do anything about this and its really affecting this young age.
Gambling has become a thing for everyone in my locality with out any age restrictions and am just curious If this is not going to cause side effects on this young gamblers.

Just the other day i was predicting  some games in the world cup in a betshop cause my network was bad so i can't stake online  so i decided to go to the betshop to place the bet, then to my shock i was boy aged around 14 to 15 years who came in and gave the cashier a booking code to place the bet and give him the coupon and the cashier collected and i was like isn't this too little to be involved in such acts.

And am just curious if this won't affect the person in times to come

I think the main takeaway from underage gambling is that the young mind is not fully developed yet and picking up these activities could create abnormal behavior if done too early. Younger people might not be able to properly control their emotions, realize that an addiction is building or even how to get out of such an addiction after it formed. It can also have a stunting effect as as it distracts from more wholesome pursuits around that age
1650  Economy / Economics / Re: The world’s baby shortfall is so bad that the labor shortage will last for years on: December 02, 2022, 10:54:44 PM
I seem to remember economic charts claiming average worker productivity has more than doubled from the 1950s to present day. If productivity continues to increase, the population and worker size needed to sustain construction, maintenance and development projects should shrink. On the opposite end of the spectrum, reports have claimed more than 50% of jobs are vulnerable to automation. People of today are caught somewhere in the middle of both trends. Not the most comfortable or stable place to be. And so perhaps begins the genesis of some of the future crisis we will face.

The unsaid argument would appear to be one where predominantly european nations attempt to produce more children. To maintain a majority in the face of high immigration. Not knowing that many 3rd world countries have families that produce 10 to 20 children as an ideal standard. If residents of european descent nations could produce that many children, I think they could not afford to feed, school and clothe them. The strategy is flawed on a fundamental level.

It is also possible that nations of european descent have lived without real competition or conflict for too long. It has made us soft and unappreciative of the high standards of living we enjoy. Perhaps being forced to compete and struggle for survival will bring the best ouf of us. And that will not necessarily be a bad thing.

There is definitely some sort of labor shortage going on, but we are actually starting to see a recession now so that might be changing too - the amount of spare jobs on offer could shrink rapidly. It's also worth considering the automation it making jobs redundant all the time and certain professions like supermarket checkout staff might eventually be replaced entirely - but that's a good thing as it helps them take on more productive roles in society.
1651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is The Gambling Industry Part Of The Domino Effect That Happens In The Market on: December 01, 2022, 10:29:40 PM
There's a discussion here about a call to make it mandatory for gambling sites to show proof of money they are holding in reserves because of what happened on FTX.

Running a casino during crypto crash

 - Do you think The Gambling Industry Is Part Of The Domino Effect That Happens In The Market?
 - Will the industry lose the trust of gamblers if one or two casinos scammed their players by closing down and running with what
money they have that belongs to the gamblers?
  - As a gambler do you use gambling sites to store your coins like what traders are doing on exchanges?
  - What would gamblers think if a casino does not agree to show proof of money from new and old casinos

I'm confused by what you mean in your fourth point? Are you asking whether gamblers are doing due diligence checks to make sure a casino is liquid before depositing money? It does seem like a good health check, however generally a gambler will be a very short term thinker and somebody who has a tendency to dive right in if they see a great offer to entice them. You'll find that many gamblers deposit as soon as possible and only do research later, usually after they've lost a fair chunk, on whether the casino is a decent place to bet betting. In general on your first point, just like exchanges, there have been several large casinos fail in the past but it doesn't seem to have had a wider impact on the industry.
1652  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing against 2024 on: December 01, 2022, 09:33:55 PM
I think it's wise to invest smartly against 2024, there is high tendency of hitting it big in crypto from next year to 2024. I advise you put reasonable capital on bitcoin and few funds in altcoin. Don't sleep on this one. It's a banga!! Let's make this money together.

You sound clueless and a pure gambler. There is no strategy or intelligence in your few words, people might as well flip a coin to choose rather than follow you. It would be more appropriate for this thread to be in the speculation section because there is no substance behind you. In fact, the trajectory is more likely to continue downwards based if you follow the current trend, as there is looking like nothing to reverse it right now. Maybe if Russia stopped waging war and bullying it's neighbor, then things could begin to normalize again which could create the biggest momentum back upwards. However it looks like Putin is stubbornly stupid and will keep mass murdering.
1653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have Lucky Casino? on: December 01, 2022, 09:07:53 PM
I’m playing same set of games on different casino not just to get the bonuses of each casino but also to have a different mood of my mind set. It really helps me to calm down and focus whenever I’m losing big time on one casino. It also helps me to not chase my previous losses because I think about it as fresh start.

With this regular routine, I notice that I have a specific casino that I’m always winning despite I’m playing same game that I lose huge amount on the other casino. I do randomly change the sequence of my game on casino and keeps giving me same good result on my personal lucky casino. I highly believe that this luck of mine related on how I feel when playing on that casino. I’m expecting that I will be lucky so my mind is always optimistic whenever I’m playing on it.

Do you have this kind of casino?

A lucky casino? No, it's kind of a preposterous idea and at this point you should probably stop gambling while you re-evaluate your perception of value. You are much more likely to be playing at a generous casino, that pays back more to it's customers than average and offers lots of profitable bonuses to keep you coming back. It sounds like they have geared the operation to higher frequency, so they'll pay out if they know you are consistently returning and tend to leak money over a longer period of time. Superstition is a very dangerous thing to rely on when it comes to gambling and many people have gone bankrupt because of it, so you should think rationally at all times to tame that thought.
1654  Economy / Economics / Re: UAE further collaboration with India for Local Currency Trade on: December 01, 2022, 08:56:29 PM
Certainly there's going to be a great economic impact as the Bank of India (BOI) partner deals to collaborate with United Arab Emirates (UAE) in creating an friendly synergy that could bring them both on achieving a common economical trade between the regions using their local currencies altogether in achieving a common goal, just as it could be recalled that recently, the two parties have been engaging on a mutual trade base on the MoU signed together sometimes earlier n the beginning of this year https://twitter.com/GoldTelegraph_/status/1597060306470985730?t=sJuiWnNHIyzeFe9tVsQAJw&s=19 this free economic trade has ever been the cause to thier cordial relationship that further births to what we are seing today as they both have also agreed in trading together using their own local currencies, it is also notably that India and UAE are part of the fastest growing economics in the world including their involvements in the digital era of cryptocurrency and bitcoin, which will further create an expansion opportunity for the growth of their economy both, could other countries learn something from this, and is the collaboration a lifetime advantage to both countries.

These sort of trade arrangements are ultimately fairly small scale and have limited impact on actual trade. What you will likely find is that one of these two countries has imposed this arrangement on the other instead of it being for mutual benefit. If certain countries within the UAE, the bigger oil providers for example, have said we want you to pay us in our currency in return for oil then India might bend over backwards to answer that need. They are definitely looking for methods that they can use in future to stop external pressure from other countries, like Europe, America and China. Ultimately it is probably more like a trial run that will end up frittering out.
1655  Economy / Economics / Re: SEC plans on making crypto initiative top priority as plot for new regulation!!! on: November 30, 2022, 10:10:45 PM
The U.S Securities and Exchange Commission disclosed some intended initiatives regarding crypto assets in its strategic plan for the fiscal years 2022-2026. This intended initiatives is aimed to address the SEC's top priorities for the next four years.

It boils down to developing and implementing some rigorous regulatory structures that will monitor the evolving market, business models, and technologies:

The aim of this strategic plan published by SEC for the fiscal year 2022-2026 is meant to

  • 'Address its top priorities over the next four years.”
  • “develop and implement a robust regulatory framework that keeps pace with evolving markets, business models, and technologies.”
  • “examine strategies to address systemic and infrastructure risks faced by the capital markets and the market participants.”
  • “Understand the rapid growth in crypto assets”
  • “recognize significant developments and trends in the evolving capital markets and adjust their activities accordingly.”

The next four years might comes with stricter regulations in the U.S for crypto investors

The chairman of the SEC, Gary Gensler, stressed:
Quote
The SEC pursues our three-part mission: to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation.

As far as i know there are no strategic plans the U.S will set up that will not involve consistent modification of regulations that will make investing in Bitcoin and crypto generally worth considering. Making stricter rules with claims to protect investors above other priorities.

link

It's surprising that regulators still feel so far behind in many respects when it comes to monitoring and charging crypto assets effectively, you'd think they might have a handle on it right now as it is still circumventing so many financial controls that they put in place (even though decentralization makes it hard to do anything about). Ironically if Bitcoin and crypto keeps drifting down then they might just about arrive at the party after most other people have left. At least until the next uncontrolled bubble comes along and they spend ten years trying to figure it out. At least they are using the words fair and efficient markets, which you could say is some of the prime benefits of crypto already.
1656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My Unconventional Betting Strategy on: November 30, 2022, 09:51:34 PM
They say two good heads are better than one, I couldn't agree more. Here's a an unconventional betting strategy that me and my friends have come up with to bet on some of the world cup games. I totally love it because we have cashed out about $1000 since the games began. Also, it minimized the losses and everyone goes home happy.

The strategy -  We created one betting account with a local gambling site prior to the World Cup Games. We all contribute equal amount of money to fund the wallet. And using different analysis we place our bets on at least 3 of the world cup games every day.

For me it has a lot of advantages -

- it minimizes losses
- it reduces the chances of being addicted
- it helps to build bonding. We hang out. We watch the game and we have fun.
- We have a budget and we stick to it. It sorts of builds accountability.

Do you have a unconventional betting strategy that have been working for you? Do Share.

I don't understand what your unconventional strategy is? Combining the perceived knowledge of three people into a decision? Maybe you are wiser than the average betting trio, but you might have just as easily fluked a few wins and overestimate your actual skills in a tiny subset of games. Overconfidence has been the downfall of many gamblers over time and your first few sentences about pooling money is kinda irrelevant to any strategy. In what way do you think you are minimizing losses? I see none. Sure it might be helpful for bonding - but this only really applies while you're winning and could have the opposite effect after a few losses. What accountability is there meant to be? Somebody has to place the bet or come up with the idea? At best it is "crowd sourcing" bets and there are already much bigger markets out there doing this.
1657  Economy / Economics / Re: Twitter Crypto head and staff resigns on: November 30, 2022, 09:47:36 PM

It is well known fact that a lot of Twitter employees are leaving the company. Now the news that Tess Rinearson, who was made the head of Twitter crypto team has made a tweet stating that he is leaving the company. Many other people in the crypt unit of Twitter space also followed her and announced that they will also be leaving the company. What impact do you think this will have on crypto space in general ? I am sure they must be working on crypto inclusion on the platform in some way and now when they have left the decisions will be delayed in this matter.

Elon Musk makes twitter look more ridiculous every single day he is in charge and has potentially done irreparable harm to the brand. Mark Zuckerberg must be absolutely loving the extra free traffic as people flock over to Facebook which seems like the next largest application. Twitter went from being a pristine place to work and broadcast from your CV, to toxic waste that is sinking anyone still connected to it. They've already lost over half of their advertisers, which is the main revenue source, so it will likely now be draining money from Elon's pockets day after day - so at least so good has come from this psychopathic maniac getting hold of it in the end.
1658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Roshtein fake money streamer or not? on: November 29, 2022, 09:43:31 PM
Guys, what u think about it? Is Roshtein streaming on fake money or not?

I am sure in 101% that he plays fake money, but a lot of friends of mine - said the opposite.

After twitch banned stake and other casinos, he deleted all videos and dont even stream anymore, so its 100% proof they he had deal with stake and use free money to play, what do u think?

Frankly you should assume that anyone who is streaming gambling related content is going to be compensated by a gambling operation in some way. The commissions that gambling companies can afford to pay are some of the highest advertising rates you'll find. If you picture gambling sites are pure money making machines, because players pay so much in and very rarely take anything back out again, every new depositing customer they can get from any source is super valuable. There are lots of different ways it can be "faked" as well, credits simply added to the account so they're never playing with their own money or even an external contract where they get paid a sum to their bank for the service, then deposit it to make it look entirely natural.
1659  Economy / Economics / Re: Corrupt people in crypto on: November 29, 2022, 09:36:02 PM
A lot of bad incidences happened in crypto community this year including:

All these incidences happened because of the greed of some people. It is important to control the entry of these kind of people as developers or people behind some new crypto projects. Otherwise people will have very less trust left on crypto in general and people will move to other alternatives. What do you think are the required steps to prevent these incidences from occurring in future ? Or are these unavoidable ?

Let's face it, before the drop from 65k Bitcoin looked like the ultimate get rich quick scheme - everyone saw it storming up day after day, month after month, for several years. It was hard to go wrong and these schemes draw in all sorts of shysters and conmen. They had all the evidence they needed, in the form of a graph that trended up for a long time, to convince people that it made a great investment and they were able to skim off a commission in various stages. Obviously it's only when the bubble bursts that we see a vast swathes of people who really had no clue what they were buying and simply got swept up in the hype, unfortunately the greed that drove them in the first place means they will likely find it hard to cut their losses and run on the way down too.
1660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How was your first attempt to play gambling on: November 28, 2022, 10:03:51 PM
We all have a different experience how we started our first bet. Their are people who started bet without having any knowledge concerning it. Their are some people started with a help from a friend to bet and their are some who took their time to learn before they started paying bet.

How was your first start? Did you play blindly or spent some time to learn.?

My first foray into gambling was probably an experience with the lottery or scratchcards at the lowest levels. After that, poker seemed to be the biggest draw because everyone likes to picture themselves as super intelligent and able to master the competition - however it turned out to be a tedious grind, that could be profitable if you dedicated many years worth of learning to it, but it's super easy to lose money the second you get a lapse in concentration. After that "matched betting" made an appearance and while the initial few bets were a bit wasted, it successfully accrued a few hundred for very little effort and the outcome was all guaranteed winnings.
