21  Economy / Reputation / Re: Poll: is it OK to send merits to your own alts? on: January 05, 2019, 10:53:03 PM
What is about relatives which sending 10-50 merit to each other?
I don't see the big difference between them and alts because relatives (or "relatives") are often rating messages very subjectively, in my mind.
If the posts are of high quality I don't see it as an issue considering the amount of merits sent isn't favoring the relative with extra merits over another member's post of similar value but honestly 10-50 merits is a lot to give out for a single post.
But doing this in order to alter your rank might still be frowned upon cause there's a very high chance if you need to ask a relative to merit your post it's doesn't really contribute much value to the community.

This again brings us to the point that if your post is actually contributing value to this community it's very easy to get merits by bringing it to the attention of merit sources.

The main issue this community is trying to prevent here is low quality posts eating up the merits in our economy. Tongue

I kinda want to vote again from my Mobile Tongue
Is it OK to participate in polls with your alt?  Cheesy
No I don't think it's OK to manipulate poll results using alts but it's clearly a form of humor from LoyceV in this situation. Wink

EDIT: I just want to also include this lovely quote in my post. Thanks suchmoon

Merit sales, transfers to aliases, back-and-forth trading, etc. are not much of an issue. All illegitimate merit will decay, and will account for a tiny and very expensive fraction of the total merit economy. It's basically a rounding error; fight it where convenient, but waste no sleep over it.
22  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: SHARE how to exchange paypal to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin on: January 05, 2019, 10:32:10 PM
@bigmaster23: If you do use this site please let me know the amount it cost you in fees.

On the above screenshot posted by @Economy their BTC withdrawal fee is quite high(Much higher than what it actually costs today) so maybe you can try withdrawing to a different cryptocurrency in hopes of reducing the withdrawal fee charged by the site.

NOTE: I have not tried/tested the mentioned site and looking forward to reading a positive review from someone with enough credibility so please don't consider my suggestion above as any form of endorsement/recommendation.

You have X sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people. There is no point in hoarding sMerit; keeping it yourself does not benefit you,

Merits are meant to be sent to other people's constructive contribution to this forum hence using sMerits in ways that personally benefits the sender will always be frowned upon by the community.
If a post truly deserves Merit(this includes posts made by alts) there are multiple ways to bring it to the attention of Merit sources so there's no reason to merit your own posts unless it's of low quality.

IMO, It's not OK to send merits to your alts because it only effects this community in a negative way(low quality posts receiving merits).
24  Economy / Reputation / Re: LoyceV's reputation thread on: January 05, 2019, 01:02:27 PM
You don't have to make it really long. A short one will suffice too.  Tongue

I've been reading some of your posts/threads. Amazing work and congratulations. Looking forward to reading your speech if you decide on doing it. heh

Thanks for your dedication/love. Your work made my day and I couldn't help but click that +sMerit button for the first time(Life got busy for me just around the time the merit system was introduced).
It's not his work, by the way and he has mentioned it already. It was done by Heisenberg_Hunter and posted here- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5092492.msg49024563#msg49024563. Anyway, thanks for bringing up it here.
Ouch, My bad.
@tranthidung: Still thanks for mentioning it here but maybe you might want to edit your quote tag to include a reference to the original author.

Thanks for pointing it out @S_Therapist.

27  Economy / Lending / Re: Interest FREE ETH Loans - Minimum: 1 ETH on: January 04, 2019, 04:10:03 PM
Considering the collateral scams that have taken place on this forum over the years I would urge borrowers to always ask an escrow to hold any collateral you might have.

Using an escrow is mutually beneficial to both parties in this scenario so I don't see a reason why one should continue without an escrow.
(Borrowers can feel secured knowing their collateral is safe while the lender can also feel secure knowing that the collateral was secured by an experienced/trusted member of this community)

Advise to @OP: You could provide a signed message from your ETH address to assure borrowers that your service is legit. Signing a message is pretty simple provided you have the private keys.

Just my 2 cents.

EDIT: LoyaceV's post wasn't up while I was writing this but by the time I decided to post(procrastination) I noticed his one but still decided to post mine thinking it might be of use to someone. hehe
28  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.015 BTC loan with collateral! on: February 03, 2018, 11:26:53 PM
(BTW) was added to the exchange recently and I don't see any active development regarding features so I wouldn't consider it a stable collateral for 2 weeks.
I could fulfill this loan without interest if a more stable collateral is offered.

@Vod: Its nice to see that your still active here.
29  Economy / Lending / Re: Need super quick 0.01 loan. Guaranteed legit! on: January 30, 2018, 11:02:13 PM
Need: 0.01 BTC
Payment: 0.02 BTC within a week

That's right, you double your money within a week!

Conditions:

- No collateral
- No asking me to sign old wallets

Trusty 'ol BiPolarBob is worthy!
Its nice to see you back Bob.

I could send it to one of your old addresses but I don't think you will the private keys. hehe

I don't keep old wallets so I can't sign anything.

I was hoping that someone would just blindly send the 1BTC without asking questions.

Just post an address and maybe I can race it before someone else does.
30  Economy / Services / Re: My signature and avatar space is for rent on: January 29, 2018, 04:02:45 PM
Its been a while since I did anything in the crypto space but I have a few ideas and if I do go forward with them it would be nice to have better exposure.

I would like to get an idea regarding the prices your charging ATM. It would be better if you set them in USD since I might need your signature space within 1-2 months and crypto prices change really fast these days.
31  Economy / Lending / Re: NEW Hardware wallet development, looking for programmers and investors. on: January 29, 2018, 12:19:38 PM
Does your hardware wallet have any new features that isn't currently available from the ones already on the market?

Investors may stay anonymous
Investors will not have any vote on design or technical aspect of the final product!
Send me a pm, offering how much you want to invest.
Provided that your product does offer some unique features that isn't currently available on the market and if your willing to adjust the part I highlighted in bold shoot me a pm and we can work something out.
32  Economy / Lending / Re: Offering Tittiecoin(TTC) Loans: 10k max on: January 25, 2018, 11:52:50 AM
I would suggest you increase the minimum requirement to obtain a loan to remain on the safe side.
I made a similar mistake last year and have over 2 BTC on defaults and its a large amount considering today's Bitcoin price.

Another thing I would suggest is never accept collateral's that cannot be liquidated easily/quickly.
I haven't been following this forum for quite some time now so I don't think I am currently best suited to list some good/bad collateral examples but there's a very detailed explanation by Vod in this sticky thread.

10k TTC might be worth ~$25 ATM but things change quickly in the crypto space these days.
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 1st timer - Help cashing out from bitcoin wallet. on: July 09, 2017, 04:22:04 PM
What you have is an app that can be thought of like your wallet and within your wallet you have a currency called bitcoin.
The only difference here is that your wallet is physical and your bitcoin wallet is digital. Other than that its the same concept.
Bitcoin can be exchanged to any currency the same way its possible with physical cash.

To change Bitcoins to fiat you need to use an exchange. Refer to this link to find a suitable exchange for you: https://bitcoin.org/en/exchanges
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: LTC Loan Needed on: July 09, 2017, 04:10:26 PM
I am happy to give equivalent collateral, mode/form can be discussed which form.
Please always state your collateral in the OP so potential lenders don't have to make an additional post to find out the collateral your offering.

Depending on your collateral I might be able to work something out.
35  Economy / Lending / Re: I NEED BTC LOAN on: July 09, 2017, 12:48:49 PM
I am pretty sure your trolling here since I already gave you a few links to go through in your other thread if you ever consider requesting a loan here.
36  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sending an exact amount with fee's? added or not? on: July 09, 2017, 09:47:56 AM
OK, now i'm confused....

Coin-Keeper says "post exact amount and the fee will come from the balance of my wallet"

but you say  "In Electrum, You will be paying £17.59 if you want the receiver to receive £17.00"

?!?!?!?!?!

Sorry if i'm reading that wrong....

Thanks guys
What I mean is that you will be paying a total of £17.59 from your wallet. £17.00 for the receiver and £0.59 for the transaction fee.
Coin-Keeper meant that the £0.59 transaction fee will be deducted from your balance and not from the £17.00 you are about to send.

If something still isn't clear you can point it out and I will try my best to explain it.
37  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan for newbie on: July 09, 2017, 05:36:54 AM
Hello everybody..Im newbie in this forum...so i want to ask why newbie cannot request a loan...for me.. There also have trusted newbie for loan...(bad eng)
Technically there is no restriction forbidding a Newbie from requesting a loan but the chance of it being fulfilled is zero unless the Newbie has a valid collateral that covers the loan amount.

So if you plan on requesting a loan here I suggest you read the sticky threads of this section first and don't forget the "No valid Collateral, No Loan" rule and you should be good to go.
38  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sending an exact amount with fee's? added or not? on: July 09, 2017, 05:26:48 AM
So question, do i pay £17.59 or do i pay £17.00 and the block chain rate 0.59 will be taking from my balance of coins which is left in the wallet?
In Electrum the fee is deducted from other coins in your wallet and not from the sending amount as Coin-Keeper mentioned but some wallets have the option to specify the total amount to spend.

In Electrum, You will be paying £17.59 if you want the receiver to receive £17.00.
In some other wallets you have the feature to specify the total spending amount and setting it to £17.00 would result in the fee being deducted from the sending amount and the receiver would only get £16.41.
39  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Do you think Electrum can meet our project needs ? on: July 09, 2017, 05:15:46 AM
If your going to be running your own Electrum-Servers you would still need to be running bitcoind on the servers so I don't see why you prefer Electrum for your project.
You could communicate directly to the bitcoind running on your servers and remove Electrum from the picture.

Have a look at the APIs supported by bitcoind: https://bitcoin.org/en/developer-reference#bitcoin-core-apis

From my understanding, Electrum is intended to be a lightweight client and supporting *really massive* transactions defeats the purpose of being a lightweight client.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core stuck on: July 01, 2017, 10:44:11 AM
All log contains same information x10000, there is nothing more.
Which files should i delete? Im on vacation in village and Internet speed here is slow (gently speaking).

I dont want to delete all. Downloading it will probably take as much as all my vacations lasts. If there wont be more corruptions because of shitty connection.
You could try reindexing so you won't have to re-download everything but instead only download the corrupted block and blocks after it.

If reindexing doesn't work out and you need to access the funds while on vacation you could use Electrum as a quick fix until you get to a location with decent connection.
